Description
The invention relates to a method and a device for gas separation by means of low-temperature rectification, especially for the separation of air. The object on which the invention is based exists in increasing the cooling capacity without reducing the yield. To the for high yield, The known ones work in particular on liquid oxygen to produce the necessary cold Air separation plants often with an additional nitrogen cycle. They also tried that To increase the refrigeration capacity and the amount of liquid oxygen to be withdrawn in that a large Amount of air is relaxed via a turbine, which is not even in the decomposition process or only to a small extent Participates in dimensions. These known measures allow a considerable production of liquid Oxygen. However, they are because of the constantly revolving, very large and exclusively the Refrigeration serving amounts of nitrogen or air are very complex and costly and from this Basically only profitable for extremely large gas separation plants.
According to the invention, the gas separation, in particular air separation, is carried out by means of low-temperature rectification required cold expenditure thereby denied in a simpler way than before that the too decomposing gas mixture, in particular air, in the case of a gas mixture above that which is usual in a two-stage process Gas pressure lying pressure of in particular about 9 to 12 atü is pre-decomposed and the thereby obtained low-boiling gas components, in particular nitrogen, for generating cold in whole or in part is removed and relaxed while doing work. The higher boiling point that occurs in the pre-decomposition stage After corresponding relaxation, liquid becomes in a two-column rectification arrangement known per se separated.
Luftdurchsatz aus der ersten Stufe so viel gasförmiger Verfahren und Einrichtung zurTo carry out the method according to the invention, a three-stage rectification column arrangement is provided according to a special embodiment of the inventive concept, in which all three columns are connected in series. The second column corresponds to the pressure column of the previously customary two-stage column arrangement for gas separation and, in the special case of air separation, is designed for about 4 1 A to 5 atmospheres. The pressure in the first stage of approximately 9 to 12 atmospheres results from the condensation conditions of the condenser between the first and second stage due to the ratio of condensing nitrogen and in the second stage vaporizing enriched oxygen. The advantage of the arrangement according to the invention is that in systems of about 5000 to 50,000 NmS / hour. Air flow from the first stage so much more gaseous process and facility for

Nitrogen can be removed and relaxed in a turbine that by the relaxation of the nitrogen the cooling requirement is covered as far as possible and despite the best oxygen yield up to about 12% the amount of oxygen can be generated in liquid form.
Although it is already known, three-stage rectifying column arrangements to use to separate liquid air. In this known arrangement, however, stood the first column under a pressure of 5.5 atmospheres, the second under a pressure of 2.7 atmospheres and the last under a pressure of 1.5 atmospheres. The one arising in the first pillar Nitrogen was completely passed into the top of the last column as washing liquid; so he did not serve - how in the arrangement according to the invention - to generate the cooling requirement by work-performing relaxation.
The drawing shows an embodiment of an air separation device for carrying out the Method according to the invention shown for example.
I 1 2 and 3 denote three rectifying columns connected in series according to the invention. The pressure in the first column 1 is about 10 atmospheres; in the medium-pressure column 2 there is a pressure of about 5.5 atmospheres; in the upper column 3 there is a pressure of about 1.5 atmospheres. A 1 5j 6, 7 and 8 denote regenerators which can be switched over automatically and / or manually by means of the valves assigned to them and indicated in the drawing by the usual symbols. In particular, the regenerators 4, 5 and 6 work together on a three-cycle basis, while the regenerators 7 and 8 are operated alternately.

In the valve positions shown, it flows through the regenerators 4 and 7, is cooled there to a temperature of about 108 ° K, is reunited at 10 and flows into the sump of the first column 1 at 11. In this column, the air is broken down into a liquid mixture of about 65% nitrogen and about 35% oxygen in the bottom and pure nitrogen in the top of the column. The nitrogen evaporating in the condenser 12 between columns 1 and 2 from the top of column 1 is removed there according to the invention and, after heating in an exchanger 13 in a turbine 14, is expanded to about 1.2 atmospheres and from there for cooling and simultaneous regeneration - at the drawn valve position - passed through the regenerator 6 and blown off at 15. Part of the nitrogen in the regenerator 6 is branched off at 16 and, after cooling down again in the exchanger 13, is sent through the regenerator 5 and also blown off at 15.
The bottom liquid of the column 1 is expanded via a valve 24 into the column 2, where another Decomposition takes place and a more oxygen-enriched liquid collects in the sump, which is fed to the column 3 via a valve 17 in a known manner. The one that collects in the swamp of column S. liquid oxygen is withdrawn at 18. Those gathering in the heads of pillars 1 and 2 liquid nitrogen amounts are after expansion in the valves 19 and 20 the head of the Column 3 supplied as washing liquid. The vaporous oxygen obtained in the lower part of column 3 is removed at 21 and - in the illustrated valve position - passed through the regenerator 8 and taken at 22. The vaporous nitrogen accumulating in the top of column 3 is discharged from there and passed through the regenerator 5 together with the nitrogen coming from 16.
The invention is not restricted to the exemplary embodiment. For example, it's in the frame of the invention that also in the head of the column 2 or in the condenser 23 between the columns 2 and 3 incurred vaporous nitrogen of an expansion turbine optionally connected downstream of expansion turbine 14 and is also used to meet the cooling requirement. The introduction of liquid nitrogen from column 3 in the head of column 3 can possibly be omitted come when the generation of liquid nitrogen - ■■ in column 2 for the washing process in column S is sufficient. It is also possible to use the regenerator arrangements 4-8 in a different, possibly known manner to execute. It is also useful under certain circumstances - especially when large amounts of air are broken down or even larger amounts of liquid oxygen are to be generated or if the system for Decomposition of another raw gas, e.g. B. synthesis gas, coke oven gas, etc., is to be used -, a total of more than three decomposition stages, in particular in the form of four or more rectification columns, to be used, with one if necessary Select a higher initial pressure and / or a lower pressure in the last stage. In certain circumstances can also at least one of the decomposition processes, preferably the pre-decomposition, with another Dismantling device, for example a regenerator arrangement, an expansion turbine and a liquid separator.
