Abstract

The valve has a housing (1) with intake chamber (12) with a valve needle (18) and a feed channel (10) to supply it with fuel. The channel has a throttle (30) formed in it. This forms the smallest flow profile of the fuel flow from the feed channel through a ring chamber (15), formed between the intake chamber wall and the valve needle, to injection apertures (22). The flow section in a valve needle flow profile section is dimensioned, so that when the valve needle impacts on the valve seat (20), the kinetic energy of the fuel generates only such pressure oscillations in the ring chamber, which do not cause wear on the valve seat.
