Abstract

A camera (8) moves between a first position to monitor a space outside a motor vehicle's bodywork (2) and a second position to monitor the vehicle's interior space (6). The camera fits in the vehicle's roof (10). When the vehicle engages reverse gear, it moves into its first position and operates linear motion in a horizontal direction during its motion between first and second positions. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle with bodywork forming an interior space and a monitoring device.
