Description
Process for producing conductive, in particular transparent, coatings on glass surfaces The invention relates to a method for producing conductive ones and preferably more transparent coatings on glass surfaces. Such coatings are z. B. used for the production of electroluminescent cells. With whom comes it is important to put a tin compound on the glass surface, e.g. B. from tin tetrachloride or a similar salt. This deposition was previously done by spraying or immersion made with a solution of tin tetrachloride. It is also known, the tin tetrachloride on a combustible, solid body, e.g. B. paper, to accommodate, to bring the paper close to the object to be covered and to let it burn down there, whereby by the heat, the 4ei of the combustion arises, the tin compound is expelled and settles on the heated glass surface precipitates as an electrically conductive coating. This method has the disadvantage that Combustion products of the paper when it is coated with the tin compound interferes with each other make noticeable by burning residues from it settling on the glass surface and form impurities. Another disadvantage is that by the The resulting heat causes a curvature of the paper and thus the uniform Distance between the paper and the object to be covered is not maintained. As a result, however, there is also an unevenness in the occupancy and in the electrical Resistance a. These disadvantages should be eliminated by the invention %% - earth.
The invention consists in that an absorbent, non-combustible mass that does not deform through heat, such as ceramic material, Glass frits or metal oxides (e.g. aluminum oxide, magnesium oxide), used and the "Tin compound is expelled from it by heating, whereby the conductive Layer is deposited on the heated glass surface. For these purposes, preference is given to choosing the known for this purpose tin tetrachloride, a liquid, however has the property that the water vapor in the air forms hydrochloric acid to decompose. To prevent this, the absorbent mass can be used after ingestion the tin compound are coated with a top layer. This top layer can for example from a thin layer of cellulose derivative or methacrylates and like. exist. In order to drive out the tin compound from the absorbent mass it is necessary to place them on a z. B. to accommodate carriers heated by electricity, which may consist of a metal plate or the like. Instead of such a heating conductor but can also be deposited with a metallic conductor and the absorbent mass these are heated by means of high frequency. It is also possible to have the expulsion in an oven.
When performing the procedure you can see how the heavy tin compound is released from the carrier material when heated and on the one underneath heated glass object and takes shape there on the hot surface a deposit precipitates. Exactly the same thing occurs when it is expelled in an oven Effect a.
