Description
The present invention relates to an impregnation process for the simultaneous impregnation on both sides of an electrode for a solid-state cell for a motor vehicle. The invention further relates to an impregnation device with a printing device for carrying out the impregnation process. The invention also relates to a solid cell with at least one electrode that has been impregnated using the method according to the invention and a motor vehicle with at least one solid cell.
A solid-state accumulator, also called a solid-state cell, solid-state battery or solid-state battery, is a special type of accumulator in which both electrodes and the electrolyte are made of solid material. For the solid-state cells, a good connection of the active material to the electrolyte is necessary in order to enable ion transport. For a good connection, the electrodes must be impregnated with the electrolyte. Ideally, this must be in a liquid phase for the impregnation process. If the electrode is coated on both sides, in the known prior art for methods and devices for impregnating electrodes for a solid cell, the film is guided in a horizontal direction as standard, which would cause the problem that the electrolyte would move from the area near the current collector towards the ground due to gravity flows and the impregnation becomes insufficient and/or uneven. To avoid this, the two sides of the electrode are impregnated one after the other, which leads to increased process and time expenditure.
It is therefore the object of the present invention to eliminate or at least partially eliminate the disadvantages in the prior art described above. In particular, it is the object of the invention to provide an impregnation method with which simultaneous, double-sided impregnation of an electrode for a solid-state cell for a motor vehicle is made possible in a particularly simple manner. In particular, it is further the object of the invention to provide an impregnation device with a printing device for carrying out the impregnation process, a solid cell with at least one electrode which has been impregnated according to the method according to the invention and a motor vehicle with at least one solid cell.

In particular, the task is solved by an impregnation process with the features of independent claim 1. Furthermore, the task is solved by an impregnation device with the features of

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, the method steps described above and those described below can be carried out individually, together, simply, multiple times, in parallel and/or one after the other in any order. A designation as, for example, “first procedural step” and “second procedural step” does not require any chronological order and/or prioritization. A preferred order of the method steps provides that the method steps are carried out in the order listed.
The pressurization of the two electrolyte masses for impregnation of the electrode on both sides with the applied electrolyte masses by a pressure device of the impregnation device takes place after the first electrolyte mass has been applied to the first main side and the second electrolyte mass to the second main side by the impregnation device. The process step of pressurizing the two electrolyte masses for impregnation of the electrode on both sides with the applied electrolyte masses by a printing device of the impregnation device takes place simultaneously for the first main side and the second main side of the electrode. The process step of applying the first electrolyte mass to the first main side and the second electrolyte mass to the second main side by the impregnation device preferably takes place simultaneously for the first main side and the second main side of the electrode. In the context of the invention, simultaneous pressurization and/or application is at least partially time-parallel, preferably completely or essentially completely time-parallel, execution of the method steps for both main sides of the electrode.
Within the scope of the invention, the phrase “X or essentially
The electrode is preferably designed in the shape of a plate, so that the electrode has a significantly greater extent in two spatial directions than in the third spatial direction. The two main sides of the electrode are therefore to be understood as the two largest main surfaces of the electrode. The two main sides are preferably arranged parallel to one another. The electrode is preferably designed to be porous and/or consists of one or more porous materials, so that the electrolyte masses can be impregnated at least in sections onto and/or into the electrode by applying pressure. The two main sides of the electrode preferably comprise a film and/or are preferably applied to a film, in particular where the film consists of a conductive material. In the context of the invention, the film is preferably to be understood as a component of the electrode and/or arranged on the electrode. Alternatively or additionally, the film is to be understood as a component of the electrolyte masses and is arranged and/or attached to the electrode according to the impregnation method according to the invention when the electrolyte masses are applied. In the context of the invention, a film designed in this way is preferably to be understood as a current collector film. The first and second electrolyte masses are preferably gel-like for the application process step. The first and second electrolyte masses are to be understood in the context of the invention in such a way that electrolyte mass is applied to both main sides of the electrode. The first and second electrolyte masses are preferably identical or essentially identical in terms of material and/or composition and/or state.
What is therefore essential to the invention is the simultaneous impregnation of the electrode on both sides. For impregnation, the electrolyte masses are pressurized on both sides by the pressure device. The printing device is designed to be pneumatic, hydraulic and/or mechanical.
For application and pressurization, it is advantageous if the electrode and the impregnation device and/or the printing device move relative to one another. The electrode can be moved by a movement device of the impregnation device and/or the impregnation device and/or the printing device can be moved relative to the electrode by a movement device of the impregnation device. The pressurization of the two electrolyte masses for impregnation of the electrode on both sides is carried out by the printing device preferably on both sides and/or orthogonally to the two main sides, in the direction of the opposite main side. The electrode and/or the two electrolyte masses are clearly described and pressurized from the outside.
An impregnation process designed in this way is particularly advantageous because simultaneous impregnation on both sides of an electrode for a solid-state cell for a motor vehicle is made possible particularly easily and with little expenditure of time.
According to a preferred further development of the invention, it can be provided in an impregnation process that the two electrolyte masses are applied to the two opposite main sides by the impregnation device and/or the two electrolyte masses are pressurized by the pressure device of the impregnation device using a roller device. In the context of the invention, a roller device is to be understood as a device with at least two rollers. A roller device is advantageously designed for applying the two electrolyte masses to the two opposite main sides and/or applying pressure to the two electrolyte masses by the printing device. The roller device preferably enables both method steps of applying and applying pressure together and/or one after the other. The printing device is functionally preferably designed by the roller device. For application and/or pressurization, the electrode is moved in relation to the roller device and/or the roller device is moved in relation tion moves to the electrode. A method designed in this way enables the two electrolyte masses to be applied simultaneously, for example by a so-called roll-to-roll method. For the process, one or preferably several rollers are used to press the two electrolyte masses into the pores of the electrode.
According to a preferred further development of the invention, in an impregnation process it can be provided that the roller device has at least one roller for each of the two opposite main sides, in particular wherein the at least two rollers are arranged in pairs opposite one another. An embodiment of the roller device with at least two, in particular opposite, rollers particularly advantageously enables simultaneous impregnation of the electrode on both sides. By means of the at least two, in particular opposite, rollers, the first and second electrolyte masses are advantageously applied to the two main sides on both sides and then the applied electrolyte masses are pressurized on both sides of the electrode by the rollers. The pressure is applied by the two rollers preferably against each other.
According to a preferred further development of the invention, it can be provided in an impregnation process that the roller device has at least two rollers for each of the two opposite main sides, in particular wherein the at least two rollers on each of the two opposite main sides have at least two different sizes. Using more than one roller per main side of the electrode advantageously enables the electrode and the impregnation device to be guided together and also enables the electrolyte masses to be applied and impregnated uniformly on the two main sides of the electrode. Designing the rolls with different sizes is also advantageous for adapting the impregnation process. Smaller rollers allow an increase in the frequency of rolling processes for application and/or pressurization. On the other hand, larger rollers make it possible to increase the contact area of the rollers with the electrode and/or the electrolyte masses. In the method according to the invention, different sizes of rolls are preferably combined. For example, a combination of a large roller at the beginning and end of the impregnation device is combined with several smaller rollers in between. The small rollers advantageously serve the purpose of pressing the electrolyte mass emerging from the pores of the electrode back in.
- - Temperature control of the impregnation device, the roller device and/or the at least two rollers by a heating device of the impregnation device.
The roller device according to the invention and/or the rollers are preferably heatable in order to improve the flow properties of, for example, gel-like electrolyte masses. The roller device and/or the rollers are preferably heated to a temperature above the melting temperature of the electrolyte masses. Furthermore, it is preferred if the several rollers per main page can only be partially tempered. For example, after a first roll that is not heated, there follows at least one roll, preferably several more rolls that are heated. Furthermore, it is advantageous if several rollers are arranged per main page and the temperature of the rollers has a temperature gradient from roller to roller. For example, the temperature of the individual rollers of the impregnation device decreases at the end of application and/or pressurization in order to enable the electrolyte mass to solidify. Described clearly, an impregnation process designed in this way is particularly advantageous because the roller device of the impregnation device is designed to be heatable and presses the electrolyte masses into the porous electrode. The flow properties of the electrolyte masses are improved by the temperature; the electrolyte masses are preferably liquefied by the temperature of the roller device.
According to a preferred further development of the invention, an impregnation process can provide for the provision of the electrode to include providing the electrode with a vertical orientation. Vertical provision and alignment of the electrode in the impregnation method according to the invention is particularly advantageous because it enables the electrolyte masses to be applied and impregnated to the vertically aligned electrode. In the context of the invention, vertical alignment is understood to mean a parallel or essentially parallel alignment of the two main sides to gravity. The vertical orientation of the electrode advantageously enables easy accessibility of the two main sides for the simultaneous impregnation of the electrode on both sides, as well as an advantageous or at least no negative influence of gravity on the impregnation process. The vertical orientation advantageously makes it possible for a direction of movement of the electrode and/or the impregnation device for the application and/or pressurization to be aligned vertically and/or to have a vertical extension. This is an example Electrode for applying and/or applying pressure vertically upwards, moved by a movement device into the impregnation device, in particular between the rollers of the roller device. An impregnation process designed in this way is particularly advantageous because simultaneous, double-sided impregnation of an electrode for a solid-state cell for a motor vehicle is made possible particularly easily and with little expenditure of time, with the vertical orientation of the electrode advantageously ensuring a homogeneous impregnation of the electrode.
According to a preferred further development of the invention, it can be provided in an impregnation method that the impregnation device, in particular the roller device, comprises at least one film-like application device, the electrolyte masses (30, 32) being applied by the at least one film-like application device (130) to the two opposite vertical main sides (12) are applied (206) and/or the electrode (10) is impregnated (208) with the applied electrolyte masses (30, 32) by the at least one film-like application device (130). That is, the at least one film-like application device is designed to apply the electrolyte masses to the two opposite vertical main sides and/or to impregnate the electrode with the applied electrolyte masses. The impregnation device preferably has at least one film-like application device per main side of the electrode. The film-like application device is preferably guided by the roller device. The applicator device preferably runs on each of the two opposite main sides of the electrode between the roller device and the electrolyte mass during application and pressurization of the electrode. The film-like application device is, for example, to be understood within the scope of the invention as a conveying device for the electrolyte masses, an application device for the electrolyte masses and/or as a film between the printing device and the electrode. The film-like application device is preferably arranged to run around the rollers of the roller device. The film-like application device can be designed as a device of the impregnation device, for example as a closed, rotating film-like application device, or as a film-like application device designed separately from the impregnation device, for example as a carrier film for the electrolyte mass and/or as a consumable. For example, the carrier film is provided on a coil together with the electrolyte mass for the impregnation process according to the invention. According to one embodiment, the film-like application device only runs around one roll per main side of the electrode. The roller device preferably has deflection rollers for the deflection of a closed, film-like application device. The deflection rollers are preferably designed separately from the rollers of the roller device. The film-like application device is preferably removed from the electrode and/or spaced after one, several or after a last roll of the roller device, so that a length of a direct or indirect contacting path between the film-like application device and the electrode is determined on both main sides of the electrode and /or is adjustable. Removing the film-like application device after the last roll prevents the electrolyte masses from escaping from the pores and is therefore preferred.
According to a preferred further development of the invention, it can be provided in an impregnation process that at least one of the film-like application device for each of the two opposite main sides is/is arranged circumferentially around the roller device and/or the at least two rollers.

According to a preferred further development of the invention, it can be provided in an impregnation process that the electrode comprises lithium-nickel-cobalt-manganese oxides, lithium iron phosphates and / or lithium-manganese-nickel oxide spinel as active material, the carrier film of the electrode made of metallic Aluminum consists of electrolyte masses comprising Li salt, in particular LiTFSI, in organic carbonate, in particular ethyl methyl carbonate or propylene carbonate, and a polymer, preferably a fluorinated polymer, in particular polyvinylidene fluoride, and/or in that the film-like application device comprises a polymer which has low adhesion to the electrolyte masses. The film-like application device preferably comprises a material and/or surface coating that is non-sticky to the electrolyte masses, for example PET and/or Teflon. A method designed in this way advantageously enables simultaneous, double-sided impregnation of the electrode for a solid-state cell for a motor vehicle in a particularly simple manner and with little expenditure of time.
