Furthermore, a Method for producing a phosphor (1) and a radiation-emitting component.
Description
A phosphor and a process for producing a phosphor are specified. Furthermore, a radiation-emitting component is described.
It is, among other things, a task to provide a phosphor that has increased efficiency. Furthermore, an efficient method for producing a phosphor and a radiation-emitting component with a high efficiency, in particular with a high color rendering index, should be provided.
Eine alternative Schreibweise der Summenformel ist MA1+x[MB5-xD2N2O4]:E.According to at least one embodiment, the phosphor has the molecular formula MA 1+x MB 5-x D 2 N 2 O 4 :E. An alternative notation of the molecular formula is MA 1+x [MB 5-x D 2 N 2 O 4 ]:E.
Here and below, phosphors are described using molecular formulas. The elements listed in the molecular formulas are in charged form. Here and in the following, elements and/or atoms in relation to the molecular formulas of the phosphors mean ions in the form of cations and anions, even if this is not explicitly stated. This also applies to element symbols if they are given without a charge number for the sake of clarity.
Given the molecular formulas given, it is possible that the phosphor has other elements, for example in the form of impurities. Taken together, these impurities have a maximum of 5 mol%, in particular a maximum of 1 mol%, for example a maximum of 0.1 mol%.
The phosphor is usually uncharged on the outside. This means that there can be a complete charge balance between positive and negative charges in the phosphor to the outside. However, it is also possible that the phosphor does not formally have a complete charge balance to a small extent.
According to at least one embodiment of the phosphor, MA is an element or a combination of elements selected from the group formed by Li, Na, K, Rb and Cs. In particular, MA is a monovalent cation. In other words, MA has a charge number of +1.
In this case, the term “valence” in relation to a specific element means how many elements with a simple opposite charge are required in a chemical compound to achieve charge balance. The term “valence” therefore includes the charge number of the element.
According to at least one embodiment of the phosphor, MB is an element or a combination of elements selected from the group formed by Li and Na.
According to at least one embodiment of the phosphor, D is an element or a combination of elements selected from the group of tetravalent elements. Tetravalent elements are elements with a valence of four. Tetravalent elements are often four times positively charged in chemical compounds and have a charge number of +4. For example, charge balancing in a chemical compound can occur via one element that is four times negatively charged, two elements that are doubly negatively charged, or four elements that are single negatively charged.
According to at least one embodiment of the phosphor, E is at least one activator element. In particular, the phosphor comprises a host structure into which foreign elements are introduced as activator elements. The host structure alters the electronic structure of the activator element such that electromagnetic radiation of an excitation wavelength absorbed by the phosphor causes an electronic transition from a ground state to an excited state in the phosphor. By emitting electromagnetic radiation with an emission spectrum, the phosphor returns to its ground state. The phosphor can have a single type of foreign element as an activator element or several types of foreign elements as activator elements.
Beispielsweise gilt x = 1 oder x = 2.According to at least one embodiment of the phosphor, 0 ≤ x ≤ 3. For example, x = 1 or x = 2.
According to at least one embodiment, the phosphor has the molecular formula MA 1+x MB sx D 2 N 2 O 4 : E, where MA is an element or a combination of elements selected from the group formed by Li, Na, K, Rb and Cs, MB is an element or a combination of elements selected from the group formed by Li and Na, D is an element or a combination of elements selected from the group of tetravalent elements, E is at least one activator element and 0 ≤ x ≤ 3 applies.
In particular, the phosphor has an improved photometric radiation equivalent. The photometric radiation equivalent (LER, “luminous efficacy of radiation”) of the phosphor is the quotient of a luminous flux, the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the phosphor, and the radiant power of the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the phosphor. The greater the photometric radiation equivalent, the greater the luminous flux that can be used by the eye for a given power.
Insbesondere ist D Si.According to at least one embodiment of the phosphor, D is an element or a combination of elements selected from the following group: Si, Ge, Sn, Ti, Zr. In particular, D is Si.
According to at least one embodiment of the phosphor, E is an element or a combination of elements selected from the following group: Eu, Ce, Mn, Cr, Ni, Bi, Tb, Yb. In particular, E is Ce and/or Eu. Eu is in particular in the form Eu 2+ or Eu 3+ . Ce is particularly in the form Ce 3+ . Mn is in particular in the form Mn 4+ . Cr is particularly present in the form Cr 3+ . Ni is particularly present in the form Ni 2+ . Bi is particularly present in the form Bi 3+ . Tb is particularly in the form Tb 3+ . Yb is particularly in the form Yb 3+ .
According to at least one embodiment of the phosphor, E has a proportion of 0.01 mol% to 10 mol% inclusive, based on an added amount of MA and MB. In particular, E has a proportion of 0.1 mol% up to and including 5 mol% based on the added amount of MA and MB.
Insbesondere umfassen MA und MB Li.According to at least one embodiment of the phosphor, MA and MB comprise the same element. In particular, MA and MB include Li.
According to at least one embodiment of the phosphor, MA and MB are Li and x = 1 or x = 2. In other words, the phosphor has the molecular formula Li 2 Li 4 Si 2 N 2 O 4 :E or Li 3 Li 3 Si 2 N 2 O 4 :E on. Alternative notations for these molecular formulas are Li 2 [Li 4 Si 2 N 2 O 4 ]:E or Li 3 [Li 3 Si 2 N 2 O 4 ]:E. The double mention of Li reflects in particular that the Li atoms in the host structure are coordinated differently. The molecular formula according to this embodiment is summarized, for example, as Li 3 SiNO 2 :E.
According to at least one embodiment, a crystal structure of a host structure of the phosphor has a monoclinic or orthorhombic space group. In particular, the monoclinic space group is C2/c. For example, the orthorhombic space group is Pbca. For example, the phosphor with x = 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group. The phosphor with x = 2 crystallizes particularly in the orthorhombic space group.
The crystal structure is a description of an arrangement of atoms or ions in a crystalline material. The crystal structure is made up of a three-dimensional unit cell, which usually repeats itself periodically. In other words, the unit cell is the smallest repeating unit of the crystal structure of the host structure. MA, MB, D, N and O each occupy fixed positions in the unit cell, which are also referred to as point positions. In particular, E is often not taken into account when determining the structure of the crystal structure due to its insignificant contribution to the scattering density.
According to at least one embodiment of the phosphor, MA is present in the crystal structure of the host structure in a five- and / or six-fold coordinated manner. That is, in particular, an MA atom has five or six anions in its coordination sphere.
For example, a five-coordinate MA atom is surrounded by anions in a trigonal bipyramidal manner. In particular, the MA atom is surrounded by anions in a distorted trigonal bipyramidal manner. In other words, the anions form a distorted trigonal bipyramid around the MA atom. The crystal structure therefore shows distorted trigonal MA(N,O) 5 bipyramids. If balls touching each other are mentally placed in the corners of the trigonal bipyramid, a gap is formed that is occupied by the MA atom.
For example, a six-coordinate MA atom is octahedral or distorted octahedral surrounded by anions. In other words, the anions form an octahedron or a distorted octahedron around the MA atom. If balls touching each other are mentally placed in the corners of the octahedron, an octahedral gap is formed which is occupied by the MA atom.
In particular, the crystal structure of the phosphor has MA atoms with an octahedral coordination and MA atoms with a distorted octahedral coordination. The crystal structure has, for example, MA(N,O) 6 octahedra and/or distorted MA(N,O) 6 octahedra.
According to at least one embodiment of the phosphor, MB is fourfold coordinated in the crystal structure of the host structure. This means that in particular an MB atom has four anions in its coordination sphere. For example, MB is tetrahedrally coordinated. In other words, the anions form a tetrahedron around the MB atom. If balls touching each other are mentally placed in the corners of the tetrahedron, a tetrahedral gap is formed which is occupied by the MB atom. The crystal structure therefore has MB(N,O) 4 tetrahedra.
According to at least one embodiment of the phosphor, the crystal structure of the host structure has four-coordinate D atoms. In particular, the crystal structure has D(N,O) 4 tetrahedra.
According to at least one embodiment of the phosphor, the crystal structure of the host structure has at least two different layers. In particular, the at least two different layers are arranged alternately. For example, the crystal structure of the host structure of the phosphor has two or three different layers that are arranged alternately. The layers are connected to each other by corner and edge linking.
In particular, a first layer has dimers made of MB(N,O) 4 tetrahedra. A dimer comprises two edge-sharing MB(N,O) 4 tetrahedra. The MB(N,O) 4 tetrahedra in the dimer therefore share two anions. The first layer further comprises, in particular, first chains. The first chains have corner-sharing D(N,O) 4 tetrahedra. In the first layer, for example, the dimers are linked to the first chains by corners and edges. The dimers and the first chains are arranged alternately.
In particular, a second layer has second chains with MA(N,O) 6 octahedra. For example, the MA(N,O) 6 octahedra in the second chains are edge-linked. The second layer can further have third chains with MB(N,O) 4 tetrahedra, in particular with MBO 4 tetrahedra, and distorted MA(N,O) 6 octahedra. In the third chain, for example, the tetrahedra and octahedra are arranged alternately and are edge-linked. The second layer has, in particular, fourth chains. The fourth chain includes, for example, edge-sharing MB(N,O) 4 tetrahedra, in particular edge-sharing MBO 4 tetrahedra. The second layer in particular comprises alternately arranged second, third and fourth chains. The chains are edge-linked to each other. For example, in the second layer, the chains are arranged in the following repeating sequence: second chain, third chain, fourth chain, third chain.
In particular, a third layer has fifth chains. The fifth chains include, for example, trigonal MA(N,O) 5 bipyramids that are edge-linked to one another. The third layer can further have sixth chains with corner-sharing D(N,O) 4 tetrahedra. The fifth chains and the sixth chains are, for example, arranged alternately and are connected to one another in particular by corner and edge linking. In particular, the first chains and the sixth chains have the same structure.
For example, the phosphor with the monoclinic space group has two different layers. In particular, in this phosphor the first layer and the second layer are arranged alternately.
For example, the phosphor with the orthorhombic space group has three different layers. In particular, the layers are arranged in the following repeating sequence: first layer, second layer, third layer, second layer.
According to at least one embodiment, the phosphor absorbs electromagnetic radiation in the ultraviolet to blue spectral range. In particular, the phosphor absorbs electromagnetic radiation that corresponds to the excitation wavelength. For example, the phosphor absorbs electromagnets tic radiation in the wavelength range from 300 nanometers to 500 nanometers inclusive.
According to at least one embodiment, an electromagnetic radiation emitted by the phosphor has an emission spectrum with an emission peak with an emission maximum in the wavelength range from 545 nanometers to 645 nanometers inclusive, in particular in the wavelength range from 560 nanometers to 620 nanometers inclusive, for example in the wavelength range from 580 nanometers inclusive up to and including 610 nanometers. In other words, the phosphor emits electromagnetic radiation in the orange spectral range.
The emission spectrum is an intensity distribution of the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the phosphor after excitation with electromagnetic radiation of the excitation wavelength. The emission spectrum is usually represented in the form of a diagram in which a spectral intensity or a spectral radiation flux per wavelength interval (“spectral intensity/spectral radiation flux”) of the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the phosphor is shown as a function of the wavelength λ. In other words, the emission spectrum represents a curve in a diagram in which the wavelength is plotted on the x-axis and the spectral intensity or spectral radiation flux is plotted on the y-axis.
Solche Anwendungen sind insbesondere warm-weiß Dimmen, „human-centric lighting“-Anwendungen,Fluorescent materials with emission in the orange spectral range are used, for example, in general lighting. A low color temperature (CCT, “correlated color temperature”), that is, a color temperature of at most 3500 K, in particular at most 3000 K, for example at most 2700 K, is advantageous. Such color temperatures can be achieved with the phosphor described here. Furthermore, the phosphor described here is used, for example, in applications with an even lower color temperature, for example a color temperature of at most 2400 K or at most 2000 K. Such applications are in particular warm-white dimming, “human-centric lighting” applications,
Straßenbeleuchtung für Wohngebiete und wildtierfreundliche Außenbeleuchtung.Residential street lighting and wildlife-friendly outdoor lighting.
When dimming warm white, the color temperature and at the same time the brightness of a radiation-emitting component are reduced due to a lower current flow. This advantageously imitates the behavior of thermal emitters such as light bulbs or natural sunlight. “Human-centric lighting” applications, for example, are characterized by a particularly low blue content in their emissions. This advantageously increases the production of melatonin in the human body.
According to at least one embodiment, the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the phosphor has a dominance wavelength λ dom between 535 nanometers and 635 nanometers inclusive, in particular between 560 nanometers and 610 nanometers inclusive, for example between 580 nanometers and 590 nanometers inclusive.
Im Allgemeinen weicht die Dominanzwellenlänge von der Wellenlänge des Emissionsmaximums ab.To determine the dominant wavelength of the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the phosphor, a straight line is drawn in the CIE standard diagram starting from the white point (x = 0.333, y = 0.333) through the color locus of the electromagnetic radiation. The intersection of the straight line with the spectral color line delimiting the CIE standard diagram denotes the dominant wavelength of the electromagnetic radiation. In general, the dominance wavelength differs from the wavelength of the emission maximum.
According to at least one embodiment, the emission peak of the phosphor has a half-width between 80 nanometers and 110 nanometers inclusive, in particular between 85 nanometers and 110 nanometers inclusive, for example between 90 nanometers and 105 nanometers inclusive.
The full-width at half maximum (FWHM) refers to a curve with a maximum, such as the emission spectrum, where the half-width is the area on the x-axis that corresponds to the two y-values , which correspond to half of the maximum.
A process for producing a phosphor is also specified. In particular, the phosphor described here is produced using the process. Features and embodiments that are described in connection with the phosphor therefore also apply to the method and vice versa.
According to at least one embodiment of the method for producing a phosphor, the phosphor has the molecular formula MA 1+x MB sx D 2 N 2 O 4 : E, where MA is an element or a combination of elements selected from the group formed by Li, Na, K, Rb and Cs, MB is an element or a combination of elements selected from the group formed by Li and Na, D is an element or a combination of elements selected from the group of tetravalent elements, E is at least one activator element , and 0 ≤ x ≤ 3 holds. The method includes the steps of providing educts, mixing the educts to form a educt mixture and heating the educt mixture. In particular, the steps are carried out in the order indicated.
In particular, it is possible for the method to produce a mixture which comprises or consists of the phosphor. Other components of the mixture can be, for example, starting materials that did not react during the production of the phosphor, impurities and/or secondary phases that were formed during the production.
Gemäß zumindest einer Ausführungsform des Verfahrens sind die Edukte ausgewählt aus der folgenden Gruppe: Elemente von MA, MB, D und E, Oxide von MA, MB, D und E, Nitride von MA, MB, D und E, Fluoride von MA, MB, D und E und Kombinationen davon. Insbesondere werden die Edukte ausgewählt aus einer Gruppe, die aus Si, Si3N4, Li2SiN2, SiO2, Li2O, Li3N, LiN3, LiF, NaN3, Eu, EuF2, Eu2O3, EuF3, EuN, Ce, CeF3, CeN, CeO2 und Kombinationen davon gebildet ist.According to at least one embodiment of the method, the starting materials are selected from the following group: elements of MA, MB, D and E, oxides of MA, MB, D and E, nitrides of MA, MB, D and E, fluorides of MA, MB , D and E and combinations thereof. In particular, the starting materials are selected from a group consisting of Si, Si 3 N 4 , Li 2 SiN 2 , SiO 2 , Li 2 O, Li 3 N, LiN 3 , LiF, NaN 3 , Eu, EuF 2 , Eu 2 O 3 , EuF 3 , EuN, Ce, CeF 3 , CeN, CeO 2 and combinations thereof.
Other phosphors, in particular with orange emission, such as M 2 Si 5 N 8 :Eu with M = Ca, Sr, Ba, are only produced with nitrides as starting materials. These starting materials are sensitive to oxidation and/or hydrolysis. In the process described here for producing a phosphor, in addition to nitrides, oxides are also used as starting materials. This advantageously makes the process less complex.
According to at least one embodiment of the method, the educt mixture is heated to a temperature between 800 ° C and 1100 ° C inclusive. For the production of other phosphors, such as M 2 Si 5 N 8 :Eu with M = Ca, Sr, Ba, a significantly higher temperature, for example over 1500 ° C, is particularly necessary. The process described here is characterized by lower energy consumption compared to the production of other phosphors.
According to at least one embodiment of the method, after heating, the educt mixture is cooled at a rate of between 0.1 ° C/min and 10 ° C/min inclusive.
In particular, the crystal structure of the host structure of the phosphor is set by the temperature when heating the educt mixture and by the rate during cooling. The phosphor with the host structure having a monoclinic space group is obtained, for example, at a temperature below 960 ° C and rapid cooling, for example at a rate of at least 0.3 ° C / min. The phosphor with a host structure having an orthorhombic space group is obtained, for example, at a temperature of at least 960 ° C and slow cooling, for example at a rate of at most 0.3 ° C / min.
According to at least one embodiment of the method, the educt mixture is heated under a protective gas atmosphere. For example, the educt mixture is heated under an atmosphere of N 2 .
According to at least one embodiment of the method, a flux is added to the educt mixture. In particular, Li and/or LiF is added as a flux. For example, about 5% by weight of flux is added to the educt mixture. Li or LiF are advantageously used both as starting material and as flux in the process.
According to at least one embodiment of the method, the educt mixture is heated for a time of 1 hour to 100 hours inclusive, in particular for a time of 4 hours to 20 hours inclusive.
A radiation-emitting component is also specified. Preferably, the phosphor described here is suitable and intended for use in a radiation-emitting component described here. According to at least one embodiment, the radiation-emitting component comprises a semiconductor chip, which emits electromagnetic radiation of a first wavelength range during operation, and a conversion element with the phosphor described here. The phosphor converts the electromagnetic radiation of the first wavelength range into electromagnetic radiation with an emission spectrum. The electromagnetic radiation of the first wavelength range serves in particular as the excitation wavelength of the phosphor. The electromagnetic radiation with the emission spectrum differs at least partially from the electromagnetic radiation of the first wavelength range.
The radiation-emitting component is, for example, a light-emitting diode (LED).
In particular, the semiconductor chip comprises an epitaxially grown semiconductor layer sequence which contains an active region which generates the electromagnetic radiation of the first wavelength range during operation of the component. The semiconductor chip is, for example, a light-emitting diode chip or a laser diode chip. The electromagnetic radiation of the first wavelength range is emitted through a radiation exit surface of the semiconductor chip.
According to at least one embodiment of the radiation-emitting component, the semiconductor chip emits electromagnetic radiation in the blue to ultraviolet range of the electromagnetic spectrum during operation. For example, the semiconductor chip emits electromagnetic radiation with a dominant wavelength of approximately 447 nanometers.
According to at least one embodiment of the radiation-emitting component, the conversion element has no further radiation-converting component, such as a further phosphor.
According to at least one embodiment, the radiation-emitting component emits mixed light with a color temperature of at most 3500 K, in particular at most 3000 K, preferably at most 2700 K, for example at most 2400 K or at most 2000 K. In particular, the radiation-emitting component therefore emits warm white mixed light.
According to at least one embodiment, the radiation-emitting component emits mixed light with a color locus close to the Planck curve. The Planck curve is used in particular to determine the color temperature of a radiation-emitting component. With the phosphor described here in the conversion element, a radiation-emitting component can advantageously be provided that has a high color rendering index (CRI). In comparison with a radiation-emitting component with a nitride phosphor in the conversion element, a color rendering index that is approximately 14 points higher is observed with the same color location.
The radiation-emitting component is advantageously used in general lighting and in particular in residential lighting, for warm-white dimming, in “human-centric lighting” applications, in street lighting in residential areas and for wildlife-friendly outdoor lighting. In street lighting in residential areas, in particular an orange-emitting phosphor is used in the conversion element of the radiation-emitting component in order to create a color impression like that of sodium vapor lamps. Furthermore, by using the phosphor described here in the conversion element, a proportion of blue light is advantageously reduced in order to achieve wildlife-friendly outdoor lighting.

Li 2 [Li 4 Si 2 N 2 O 4 ]:Eu 2+ is made from the starting materials Si 3 N 4 and Li 2 O in a molar ratio of 1:4 and in particular a flux such as LiF with 5 wt% and with EuF 2 or Eu 2 O 3 to provide the activator element (Table 8, variant 1). Before synthesis, the educts are intimately mixed in a glovebox under a protective gas atmosphere and then transferred either to a W or Ni crucible and reacted in a flow tube furnace or a high-frequency furnace under an N 2 atmosphere, but in particular in a Ta tube in a tube furnace brought. The Ta pipe is welded tightly using an electric arc under an Ar atmosphere. The synthesis of the material takes place at a temperature of greater than or equal to 900 ° C to less than 960 ° C, in particular at about 960 ° C, this temperature being maintained for 4 hours to 20 hours inclusive, for example for about 4 hours and with a Rate of at least 0.3 ° C / min, for example at a rate of about 0.3 ° C / min.
Li2[Li4Si2N2O4]:Eu2+ - Variante 2Li 2 [Li 4 Si 2 N 2 O 4 ]:Eu 2+ -
The first four educts have a ratio of 2:1:1.4:0.02 (Table 8, variant 2). Before synthesis, the educts are intimately mixed into a educt mixture in a glovebox under a protective gas atmosphere. The educt mixture is placed in a Ta ampoule, this is welded, transferred to a quartz glass ampoule and subjected to the following temperature program in a tube furnace: The educt mixture is heated to about 860 ° C at a heating rate of about 2 ° C / min for about 100 h maintained at this temperature and then cooled to about 500°C at a rate of about 0.1°C/min. After reaching about 500 ° C, the tube furnace was switched off and the educt mixture was cooled to room temperature (about 10 ° C / min).
