Description
The invention relates to a method for making electrical contact with a point to be contacted in a textile fabric, a contacting yarn for making electrical contact and a use of the contacting yarn.
In the field of so-called smart textiles, in which textiles are equipped with electronic assemblies such as sensors, actuators, lighting, transmitters and/or receivers, contacting methods known from the electronics industry have been used to date. For example, electrical contact can be achieved by gluing, soldering, welding, or crimping.

These conductive contact strips have electrically conductive threads that form the electrical contact when the contact strips are glued on. However, the contacting resistance is dependent on the mechanical tension of the conductive yarn arranged in the contacting strip. A relaxation of the mechanical stress of the yarn can thus lead to an increase in the electrical contact resistance, whereas an increase in the mechanical stress, conversely, can lead to a decrease in the electrical contact resistance.

The approaches to electrical contacting known from the prior art do not meet the requirements in terms of resilience, flexibility and reliability for electrical contacting for textiles in which electrical assemblies are integrated (smart textiles). In this area, high mechanical loads can occur at the electrical contact points. The conventional contacting methods known from electronics, such as soldering, crimping or welding, are only suitable for forming rigid contacting points, which, however, can break under a strong and frequently occurring bending load. In addition, contact points that are created solely by an adhesive process are usually thin and brittle. These adhesive bonds cannot withstand the sometimes high loads in the field of textiles.
In the case of textile bonding processes, such as knitting or sewing, the connecting seam can move with the fabric. However, this can lead to strong fluctuations in the mechanical tension of the yarn used for textile contacting. Mechanical stress relaxation of the dielectric or electrically conductive yarn can increase the contact resistance over time or make the contact unreliable overall. In addition, the textile contacting methods only offer a low level of durability and abrasion resistance.
Proceeding from this, it is the object of the invention to provide a method that makes it possible to form a reliable, long-lasting and flexible electrical contact for electronic assemblies integrated in a textile.
This object is achieved with the method for electrically contacting a point to be contacted in a textile fabric according to claim 1:
The method of the present invention includes: providing a bonding yarn having at least one electrically conductive fiber and a member made of a meltable adhesive disposed at least partially along a longitudinal direction of the electrically conductive fiber; Attaching the contact yarn by means of textile joining at least at the point of the textile fabric to be contacted; and activating the adhesive at least at the location of the fabric to be contacted after attachment of the contacting yarn.
This makes it possible to create an electrical connection that has a certain degree of flexibility, i.e. is not mechanically rigid. In addition, this makes it possible to create a permanent connection whose contact resistance remains unchanged and safe even under high and frequently occurring mechanical stress. By using the contacting yarn, an electrical, flexible and reliable contact can be formed. With the method according to the invention, a positive, non-positive and material connection can be produced at the point of the textile fabric to be contacted.
A special feature of the method according to the invention lies in the provision, if necessary through the production of the contacting yarn, and the nature of the contacting yarn. The contacting yarn contains at least one electrically conductive fiber, wherein an adhesive which is solid at room temperature and can be melted by heating is arranged at least partially along a longitudinal direction of the contacting yarn. The meltable adhesive is preferably a thermoplastic, for example a thermoplastic polymer such as polyurethane (PU), polyethylene (PE), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), or polyamide (PA). In particular, the hot-melt adhesive is electrically conductive. This is particularly advantageous for the quality of the electrical connection between the point to be contacted and the contacting yarn. The at least one electrically conductive fiber is preferably made of metal, such as copper, silver, gold or stainless steel, or a metalized plastic, such as silver-plated or gold-plated polyamide. The adhesive can be activated (i.e. liquefied) by applying heat, for example. This makes it possible to attach the contacting yarn to the point to be contacted by textile joining, whereby the electrically conductive fiber of the contacting yarn is in mechanical contact with the point to be contacted and thus an electrical connection is formed between the point to be contacted and the contacting yarn is then fixed by activating the adhesive at least at the point of the textile fabric to be contacted. If the adhesive is electrically conductive, the electrical connection formed between the electrically conductive fiber of the contacting yarn and the contact point of the fabric is improved by activating the adhesive at least at the point of the fabric to be contacted. The electrically conductive adhesive can then be regarded as a type of non-metallic solder which can be converted into a liquid, mushy, viscous, possibly also creepable consistency by heating above a melting temperature. The melting temperature is preferably above the service temperature of the textile, i.e. above 80°C, for example. The at least one electrically conductive fiber is preferably made from a dimensionally stable, conductive plastic, a metalized plastic fiber or a metallic fiber. It can be extrinsically or intrinsically electrically conductive. For example, the electrically conductive fiber can be made of a polymer into which electrically conductive fillers such as soot, carbon, nanotubes or metallic particles, metallic nanoparticles and/or nanotubes have been introduced (such a plastic is extrinsically conductive). The electrically conductive fiber can also be made of silver-plated polyamide (PA), for example. An intrinsically conductive plastic can be, for example, poly-3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (PEDOT), doped polyacetylene (PAC), polyaniline (PAni), polyparaphenylene (PPP) or doped polythiophene (PT).
An electrically conductive material has, for example, a conductivity of at least 5 S/m, preferably at least 7.5 S/m, preferably at least 8 S/m, particularly preferably at least 10 S/m.
Preferably, when attaching the contacting yarn to the fabric, a seam containing the contacting yarn is created. Points to be contacted can be specifically connected to the contacting yarn through the seam. The seam connection can create a flexible, stable and resilient mechanical connection between the contacting yarn and the point to be contacted. In addition, the seam can be easily separated before the adhesive is activated, so that the contacting path can still be changed before activation. With the method according to the invention, it is possible to make contact over a large area, as well as in a line, or also only at certain points.
In particular, when creating the seam, the contacting yarn is used as the upper and/or lower thread, whereby contacting points that are arranged on an upper side and/or on an underside of the textile fabric can be contacted in a targeted manner.
It is preferable to carry out the activation of the adhesive by heating the adhesive. The heating can be the entire textile fabric or individual parts of the textile include fabric. However, it is preferred that at least the point to be contacted is heated locally.
The heating is preferably carried out by one of the following processes: heating of the entire textile, local or area application of hot air; local or area irradiation with ultraviolet or infrared radiation; local or area irradiation with laser light; local or area dielectric heating; exposure to ultrasound by means of a sonotrode; Local or area thermopressing, e.g. with a stamp whose temperature exceeds the melting temperature of the contacting yarn.
In particular, the method further includes curing the adhesive after activation. Curing can be achieved, for example, by actively cooling the adhesive or by allowing it to cool passively.

Preferably, the electrically conductive fibers are not coated with the adhesive.

- - Manufacture a variety of electrically conductive fibers.
The multicomponent fibers are preferably bicomponent fibers whose sheath contains the adhesive.
In particular, the production of the contacting yarn includes combining the aforementioned fibers into a contacting yarn. Combining can include, for example, twisting, twisting, twisting, or spinning.
In a preferred embodiment, the contacting yarn is heated to a temperature between 60°C and 270°C at the point to be contacted during activation, preferably to a temperature between 105°C and 220°C, more preferably to a temperature of 105°C and 190°C C and particularly preferably at a temperature between 120°C and 160°C. The adhesive can be activated in this temperature range without the electrically conductive fibers softening.
The object of the invention is also achieved with the contacting yarn for electrically contacting the point to be contacted according to claim 12:
The contacting yarn according to the invention has at least one electrically conductive fiber and at least one element made from a preferably electrically conductive adhesive which is arranged at least partially along a longitudinal direction of the contacting yarn.
All of the features and advantages that have been described with regard to the method according to the invention, in particular with regard to the production of the contacting yarn, are also applicable to the contacting yarn according to the invention.

- - as a coating of the at least one electrically conductive fiber, wherein the coating is arranged at least partially along the longitudinal direction of the contacting yarn; and or
- - as a plurality of fibers of the electrically conductive plastic; and or
- - as a sheath made from the adhesive of a plurality of multi-component fibers, the sheath being arranged at least partially along a longitudinal direction of the contacting yarn.
The multicomponent fibers are preferably bicomponent fibers whose sheath contains the adhesive.
It is preferred that the at least one electrically conductive fiber has a melting temperature higher than that of the adhesive. This allows the adhesive to activate without the electrically conductive fiber becoming dimensionally unstable. The Alternatively, electrically conductive plastic can also be an intrinsically conductive plastic. The electrically conductive adhesive can contain a thermoplastic primary matrix with electrically conductive fillers.
