Offenbarung der ErfindungDisclosure of Invention
In a first aspect, the present invention provides a steel that comprises at least one Laves phase and has a microstructure with grain sizes of 0.1-15.0 μm. By creating a fine-grained microstructure in Laves-phase-forming ferritic stainless steels (e.g. 1.4509), room temperature ductility is significantly improved while maintaining high-temperature properties, particularly fatigue and creep resistance.
It is advantageous if the steel is composed of the following components: C: 0.0001-0.0500% by weight; Cr: 10.0 - 20.0 wt%; Nb: 0.0 - 20.0% by weight; Ti: 0.0 - 10.0 wt%; W: 0.0 - 10.0% by weight; Mo: 0.0 - 10.0% by weight; Al: 0.0 - 2.0% by weight; Si: 0.0 - 2.0 wt%; Mn: 0.2 - 2.0 wt%; Cu: 0.0 - 1.0 wt%; Co: 0.0 - 2.0% by weight; Zr, Hf, Y, Sc, Ce, Ta in total in an amount of 0.0 - 5.0% by weight; and Fe and unavoidable elements as the balance, at least one of Nb, Ti, W and Si being contained in the steel in an amount of at least 0.01% by weight. This composition further improves fatigue and creep resistance.
It is also advantageous if the proportion of at least one Laves phase in the steel is 2-20% by volume, as a result of which the fatigue and creep resistance of the steel is further increased.
It is also advantageous if the at least one Laves phase is formed at grain boundaries of the steel. This further improves the creep resistance and effectively prevents grain coarsening, which causes a deterioration in room-temperature ductility.
In a further aspect, a method for producing a steel is provided, comprising the steps: providing a steel powder, the steel powder having a particle size distribution of 15.0-45.0 μm, remelting the steel powder using a jet melting process, optionally annealing the remelted steel for 1 - 20 h at 500°C - 1000°C, producing a steel comprising at least one Laves phase and having a microstructure with grain sizes of 0.1 - 15.0 µm. In order to form a fine-grained microstructure, production is therefore carried out using powder-based processes. Additive manufacturing, in particular production using the jet melting process, enables the processability of steels with a high proportion of Laves phases, which are difficult or impossible to process using conventional processes due to their brittleness.
It is advantageous if the steel powder is made up of the following components: C: 0.0001-0.0500% by weight; Cr: 10.0 - 20.0 wt%; Nb: 0.0 - 20.0% by weight; Ti: 0.0 - 10.0 wt%; W: 0.0 - 10.0% by weight; Mo: 0.0 - 10.0% by weight; Al: 0.0 - 2.0% by weight; Si: 0.0 - 2.0 wt%; Mn: 0.2 - 2.0 wt%; Cu: 0.0 - 1.0 wt%; Co: 0.0 - 2.0 wt%; Zr, Hf, Y, Sc, Ce, Ta in total in an amount of 0.0 - 5.0% by weight; and Fe and unavoidable elements as the balance, at least one of Nb, Ti, W and Si being contained in the steel in an amount of at least 0.01% by weight. This makes the production of the steel more efficient and further improves the fatigue and creep resistance of the steel produced.
It is also advantageous if the beam melting method is a selective laser melting method and/or an electron beam melting method, as a result of which the efficiency of the production of the steel is further increased and the room temperature ductility of the steel is further improved.
Furthermore, it is advantageous if the jet melting process is carried out under protective gas. This prevents the formation of undesirable oxides and thus further optimizes the manufacturing process. An example shielding gas includes argon and/or nitrogen, such as argon. According to certain embodiments, the purity of the argon and/or nitrogen, for example argon, is greater than 99.9% by volume, greater than 99.99% by volume or even greater than 99.999% by volume, based on the protective gas.
It is also advantageous if the steel powder comprises spherical steel particles, as a result of which the processability of the steel is further increased.
In a further aspect, the present invention provides the use of a steel according to the invention in a fuel cell, in particular in a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC), in thermal technology and/or in a coating, in particular as a coating. Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), which are subjected to a large number of thermal cycles, for example >100, are particularly suitable as an application. A solid oxide fuel cell can in particular comprise a carrier and an interconnector, with the method according to the invention also being able to already introduce gas-carrying structures in the interconnector, which means that an additional forming step can be omitted.

Definitionendefinitions
Unless otherwise defined, technical and scientific terms used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood by one skilled in the art of the invention. Quantities in the context of the present invention relate to % by weight, unless stated otherwise or is apparent from the context.
Sie bilden legierungsartige Mischkristalle der Zusammensetzung MeMe'2 mit Radienverhältnissen um r(Me) / r(Me') = 1,225, wobei Me und Me` jeweils einem Metall oder Halbmetall entspricht."Laves phases" are not particularly limited in the context of the invention. As is generally known, Laves phases are intermetallic compounds of defined composition with a hexagonal C14 or C36 structure or a cubic C15 structure. They form alloy-like mixed crystals of the composition MeMe' 2 with radius ratios around r(Me) / r(Me') = 1.225, with Me and Me` each corresponding to a metal or semimetal.
A “microstructure” is not particularly limited, except that in the context of the present invention, a microstructure relates to the structure and order of the components of a material on a microscopic level, in particular on a scale <1 mm.
The term "grain sizes" is not particularly limited. A "grain size" is generally understood to mean the size of individual grains (corresponding to crystallites) in a mixture. In the context of the present invention, grain size refers to the equivalent diameter of the crystallites or grains in a steel. The grain size can be determined, for example, by microstructural analysis using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), in particular by a method according to ASTM E112.
In the context of the invention, a "grain boundary" is not particularly limited. In general, a two-dimensional lattice defect is understood as a grain boundary, with the grain boundary in a crystal separating areas (crystallites or also called grains) of different alignment with otherwise the same crystal structure. According to the invention, a Laves phase may be formed or present within a grain and/or formed or present at a grain boundary.
The term "additive process" is not particularly limited in the context of the invention. As is well known, an additive method describes a process in which a component is built up layer by layer on the basis of digital 3D design data by depositing material.
A “beam melting process” is not particularly limited in the context of the present invention. A beam melting process is generally understood to mean an additive process in which a powdered material is remelted in layers by a beam of electromagnetic radiation, in particular a laser or electron beam, and is thus solidified.
The term “creep resistant” is not particularly limited in the context of the present invention, especially since the creep resistance is also temperature dependent apart from the material and an applied load. As is generally known, the creep resistance refers to a stress plotted against time until a certain plastic strain is reached for a given temperature, with a high stress being necessary for a creep-resistant material. According to the invention, the creep strength can be determined according to DIN EN ISO 204.
A first aspect of the invention relates to a steel which comprises at least one Laves phase, in particular an iron-containing Laves phase, and has a microstructure with grain sizes of 0.1-15.0 μm. According to a preferred embodiment, the steel has a microstructure with grain sizes of 0.5-10.0 μm, in particular around 5.0 μm. In particular, the steel according to the invention is a creep-resistant steel. The generation of an extremely fine-grained structure with a high proportion of Laves phases of steels can be realized by additive manufacturing, in particular powder bed-based processes and in particular powder bed-based processes using lasers. The small grain sizes in the steel according to the invention result in a significant increase in ductility compared to larger grains, e.g., with a size > 20.0 µm. Thus, when using steels that form Laves phases, a very fine microstructure with Laves phases at the grain boundaries, up to and including complete grain boundary occupancy, is produced. Such a fine structure significantly increases the ductility at room temperature and the fatigue strength at temperatures > 500 °C. The fine grain (over)compensates for the embrittlement caused by the formation of the Laves phase. Furthermore, additive manufacturing makes it possible to process steels with a very high proportion of Laves phases, which would not be possible with other processes (e.g. hot forming).

Gemäß bestimmten Ausführungsformen beträgt der Anteil an der mindestens eine Laves-Phase in dem Stahl 6 - 10 Vol.%, insbesondere um 8 Vol.%.Furthermore, in certain embodiments of the present invention, the proportion of the at least one Laves phase in the steel is 2-20% by volume, for example 5-15% by volume. Percentage by volume (Vol.%) refers to the total volume of the steel. When the proportion of the at least one Laves phase is present in this range, the fatigue and creep resistance of the steel at temperatures above 500°C is further improved. In
At least one of Nb, Ti, W and Si is contained in an amount of at least 0.01% by weight to form at least one Laves phase. In certain embodiments, at least one of the elements Nb, Ti, W and Si is contained in the steel powder with a content of at least 0.10% by weight, in particular at least 0.30% by weight.
In accordance with certain embodiments of the present invention, the beam melting process is a selective laser beam melting process. The laser power is preferably 50-500 W, in particular 175 W, the scanning speed is 100-2000 mm/s, in particular 500-1100 mm/s and the spot size is 50-300 μm, in particular 70-120 μm. Alternatively, the beam melting process may be an electron beam melting process, or the beam melting process includes both a laser beam melting process and an electron beam melting method. According to specific embodiments, the individual layers of the steel powder are irradiated line by line and are locally remelted, as a result of which the steel powder is fused and solidified. Furthermore, the jet melting process can be carried out under protective gas such as argon or nitrogen, in particular high-purity argon (99.999%) with a residual oxygen content of less than 200 ppm. It is also possible to carry out the jet melting process under a process welding gas atmosphere.
The steel powder has a particle size distribution of 15.0 - 45.0 µm. The particle size distribution can be determined via the equivalent diameter using laser diffractometry. According to certain embodiments, the steel powder essentially comprises spherical steel particles or even spherical particles. The formation of the microstructure and a homogeneous distribution of the Laves phase in the steel are favored by the particle sizes and/or particle shape.
A third aspect of the invention relates to a steel produced according to a method according to the second aspect described above.
A fourth aspect of the invention relates to the use of a steel according to the invention in a fuel cell, in particular in a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC), in thermotechnology, such as in a heat exchanger or a heating system, and/or in a coating, in particular as a coating. The microstructure containing Laves phases that can be achieved according to the invention and the associated high resistance to thermal cycles enables use in solid oxide fuel cells in particular. In the case of an interconnect, in particular, where high demands are placed on dimensional accuracy under thermal cycles, powder-based production can already be used to introduce gas routing structures, which makes subsequent forming obsolete.
In a specific embodiment, the steel 1.4509 is atomized using PIGA, whereby a steel powder with an average particle size of 30.0 μm based on the equivalent diameter is obtained. The powder has a suitable d10, d50 and d90 for the layer thickness used. The particle size distribution is determined by laser diffractometry. The steel powder is applied to a chemically identical plate using a coater, forming a layer of steel powder with a layer thickness of approx. 30 µm. The steel powder is locally remelted using a laser beam with a power of 175 W and a beam diameter of 90 µm. The laser beam is moved over the steel powder at a speed of 650 mm/s. The steel produced in this way has grain sizes of around 5 μm, determined by scanning electron microscopy. Furthermore, the Laves phase (Fe,Cr) 2 Nb having an average thickness of 150 nm is formed at the grain boundaries. The proportion of the Laves phase in the steel is around 8% by volume (whereby elements with a solubility of less than 1.5 at.% in the Laves phase are not specified). The Laves phase is quantified and characterized by X-ray diffraction, and the diffractograms obtained can be evaluated using Rietveld analysis. Alternatively or additionally, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy can be used. The steel produced has excellent fatigue and creep resistance at temperatures above 500°C and excellent room temperature ductility.
In a further specific embodiment, a steel is produced as described in the previous embodiment, with the steel additionally being treated for 2 h at 720° C. after the performance of the jet melting process. The TEM images of the steel show grain sizes of around 5.0 µm and a flat covering of the grain boundaries with a Laves phase with an average thickness of approx. 100 nm. The combination of X-ray diffraction with Rietveld analysis, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy shows Proportion of the Laves phase (Fe, Cr) 2 (Nb, Ti) in the steel determined to be 8% by volume (whereby elements with a solubility of less than 1.5 at.% in the Laves phase are not specified). The steel produced has a further increased fatigue and creep resistance at temperatures above 500 °C and excellent room temperature ductility.
