Description
The invention relates to a fuel cell system with at least one fuel cell of the type defined in more detail in the preamble of
Fuel cell systems which, for example on the basis of PEM fuel cells, supply electrical drive power for vehicles or stationary systems are known from the prior art. One of the problems with such fuel cell systems is that, to ensure safety, a high insulation resistance between the anode or the cathode and the ground, for example a vehicle ground, must be guaranteed. If a condition arises during operation in which this insulation resistance would no longer be guaranteed, a safety problem would arise. Various measures for increasing the insulation resistance in the cooling circuit of the fuel cell are known from the general state of the art.
However, another problem can also be the exhaust gas from the fuel cell, on the anode side or primarily on the cathode side, since this exhaust gas carries product water with it, with a large part of the product water being produced in the region of the cathode. If a continuous product water thread now connects the anode and/or cathode side of the fuel cell to a downstream grounded component, for example a humidifier module, a liquid water separator or the like, then an undesirable reduction in the insulation resistance can occur.
In practice, a sufficiently high insulation resistance is often made possible by appropriately long insulating pipes or hoses between the anode or the cathode and the first component connected to ground. However, it can happen that in certain situations large distances can also be bridged by the already mentioned continuous flow of liquid water, which forms a water thread. This can be particularly critical if the product water has a correspondingly high electrical conductivity, which further intensifies this process. Such high conductance values can result if the fuel cell system itself has been out of operation for a long period of time and ions have accumulated as a result, which are flushed away with the resulting product water and increase its electrical conductivity beyond the normal level.
The object of the present invention is now to specify an improved fuel cell system which ensures a high insulation resistance of the fuel cell system with respect to the electrical ground even under the circumstances mentioned above.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by a fuel cell system having the features in
The fuel cell system according to the invention comprises an exhaust line from the at least one fuel cell of this fuel cell system. The exhaust pipe includes a porous member. According to the invention, the porous element of the exhaust pipe is permeable to liquid water and is made of an electrically insulating material. The porous element, with which the liquid product water comes into contact in the exhaust pipe of the fuel cell, serves to efficiently prevent a continuous water thread and to separate it into several smaller sections that are not connected to one another. In this way, a continuous water thread can be prevented easily and efficiently by the mechanical component, which is designed with fine pores and is permeable to liquid water, and an increase in the insulation resistance can also be achieved in the critical situations described at the outset. The liquid water-permeable, fine-pored, porous element can be designed, for example, in the manner of a porous hose, which only allows individual drops of the water flowing along its walls and not a continuous water thread or water flow to pass.
According to a particularly advantageous development of the fuel cell system according to the invention, it can be provided that the porous element forms the wall area of the exhaust gas line. Since liquid water, especially when it occurs in such an amount that it forms liquid filaments, typically in the Wandbe runs along the pipelines, this design is particularly efficient for separating the liquid water or the water threads accordingly and dividing them into individual droplets or sections which are not connected to one another and therefore cannot conduct electricity over long distances.
According to a very advantageous further development of this idea, provision can be made in particular for the porous element, which forms the wall area of the exhaust pipe, to be surrounded by a further pipe. This makes it possible for the liquid water to pass through the porous element and continue to flow in individual water droplets distributed in the other pipeline, so that water threads are efficiently prevented without the flow resistance being unnecessarily increased, as is the case in principle with a conceivable variant with a porous element would do as a kind of filter in the entire flow cross-section of the pipeline.
According to a very advantageous embodiment of this idea, the porous element can protrude as a porous piece of pipe from the outlet of the fuel cell into the additional pipe surrounding it. Such a porous element, which protrudes from the outlet of the fuel cell into the actual exhaust line, which thus forms the further pipeline, is a particularly simple and efficient structure, since such a porous piece of pipe within the actual exhaust line is only on the flange of the outlet of the fuel cell must be introduced in order to achieve the described advantageous effect of increasing the insulation resistance. The structure does not have to be modified or only slightly compared to the existing structure and the porous element requires virtually no additional space within the fuel cell system.
In principle, the porous element can be used accordingly both on the anode side and on the cathode side in the fuel cell. It is of particular advantage if the exhaust gas line is designed as an exhaust air line, ie forms the exhaust gas line on the cathode side. In practical operation of a fuel cell, in particular a stack of PEM cells, there is typically a strong development of product water on the cathode side, whereas the development of product water on the anode side is significantly lower. The cathode side is also connected to other components and the environment, while the anode side is often looped back to the anode input. The primary problems caused by water threads with regard to the insulation resistance therefore arise on the cathode side, so that the use of the porous element according to the invention is of particular advantage here.
A vehicle according to the invention now includes such a fuel cell system in one of the configurations described above. In principle, the fuel cell system can provide electrical energy in the vehicle for any application; in particular, it should provide electrical drive power for the vehicle.
According to an advantageous development, the vehicle itself can be designed as a commercial vehicle, e.g. as a truck or bus, and according to a further very advantageous embodiment of the vehicle according to the invention, it can comprise a fuel cell system with at least two fuel cell stacks in order to also provide the required drive power for heavy commercial vehicles, for example be able.
Further advantageous refinements of the fuel cell system according to the invention and of the vehicle according to the invention also result from the exemplary embodiment which is illustrated in more detail below with reference to the figures.

An
One of the problems of such a
