Description
Gebiet der Erfindungfield of invention
The present invention generally relates to a glass-ceramic cover pane, a method for its production and its use, and a digital display device which includes such a cover pane.
Hintergrund der ErfindungBackground of the Invention
Cover plates, which are used in display devices, have been state of the art for a long time. Such cover panes are often also referred to as “cover” or “cover glass”. In most cases, such cover panes, which are arranged to protect the electronic components and display devices arranged behind these panes, for example in a smartwatch or in a smartphone, comprise a chemically toughened glass in order to increase the mechanical resistance of the cover pane compared to the non-tempered state to increase. Furthermore, it is also known to use glass ceramic panes, with glass ceramics preferably being used which are already intrinsically more mechanically stable than non-tempered glass.
Depending on the exact design of a glass ceramic, it can also be designed to be prestressable. In principle, two mechanisms are conceivable here. In addition to crystalline components, the glass ceramic also includes a vitreous component, which can also be referred to as the “residual glass phase”. If a glass-ceramic is chemically toughened, it is therefore possible that an ion exchange takes place in the glass phase itself and in this respect proceeds in a very similar way to a glass without crystalline components. However, it is also possible and can even be advantageous for the ion exchange during chemical toughening to take place in a crystal phase comprised by the glass ceramic.

Die Keimbildung erfolgt in diesem Fall vorzugsweise über die Keimbildner ZrO2 und SnO2.US patent application US 2021/0292225 A1 describes a chemically toughened glass plate, a cover pane and an electronic device comprising such a cover pane. The chemically toughened glass can also exist as a partially crystallized glass and can comprise, for example, keatite as the crystal phase. In this case, the nucleation preferably takes place via the nucleating agents ZrO 2 and SnO 2 .
Glass ceramics comprising keatite as the crystalline phase can already have intrinsically high strength and can also be well chemically tempered, but usually have a clear cloudiness, so that cover plates for display devices with such glass ceramics are possible, but difficult to produce.
There is therefore a need for chemically prestressable glass ceramics for use as a cover pane for electronic display devices, which can be produced with good optical quality using a robust production process. There is also a need for a corresponding manufacturing method for such glass ceramics or for cover plates comprising such a glass ceramic.

Zusammenfassung der ErfindungSummary of the Invention
The object of the invention is solved by the subject matter of the independent claims. Specific and preferred embodiments can be found in the dependent claims as well as in the description and drawings of the present disclosure.
The invention thus relates to a cover plate with a thickness of 0.4 mm to 0.85 mm, comprising a silicate glass ceramic, the cover plate having a light transmittance, τ vis , in the range from 380 nm to 780 nm of more than 80%, preferably of has more than 85%, preferably determined with thicknesses of the cover plate of 0.4 mm to 0.85 mm, particularly preferably determined with a thickness of the cover plate of 0.7 mm. The cover disk is chemically prestressed. The cover disk has a CS (compressive stress) of at least 250 MPa and preferably at most 1500 MPa and/or a CS30 (compressive stress at a depth of 30 µm, determined from one of the two lateral surfaces (or "surfaces") of the cover disk, of at least 160 MPa and preferably at most 525 MPa and/or a DoCL (thickness of the tempered layer) of at least 0.1 times the thickness of the cover plate and preferably less than half the thickness of the cover plate. The siliceous glass-ceramic comprises at least one siliceous crystal phase, which in at least one layer close to the surface, in particular in a layer with a depth of 20 μm to 70 μm, determined at a right angle from one of the side surfaces of the cover pane, preferably averaged after the prestressing process, has a volume of the unit cell which is at least 1 vol. %, preferably at least 2% by volume, is greater than that of the crystal phase in the core Below the core of the cover disk, the structure of the cover disk is measured in a layer below 70 µm, determined at a right angle from one of the two side surfaces of the cover disk, understood. In other words, the core of the cover disk can also be understood as its "bulk". Generally, there is a minimum of stress in the core of the shroud.
The unit cell volume is determined using thin-film X-ray diffraction measurements. Depending on the angle of incidence Ω of the X-ray beam on the plane sample surface (e.g. 0=0.5° to Ω=5°), information depths of approx. 2 µm to 20 µm result. The lattice constants and the unit cell volume can be calculated from the positions of the measured X-ray diffraction reflections using generally established methods, with this calculation providing an average value, in particular along the beam path of the diffracted X-rays. Targeted removal of the surface and subsequent renewed measurements can be used to determine the unit cell volume down to the areas that are no longer ion-exchanged. The comparatively small changes in the lattice constants due to the compressive and tensile stresses in the glass ceramic can be neglected compared to the high changes in the lattice constants due to the ion exchange in the crystal structures.
The light transmission measured according to DIN 5033 between 380 and 780 nm is referred to as transmission or light transmittance, or τ vis , within the meaning of the disclosure. This is identical to the Y value according to the CIE color system, measured with standard light C,
An embodiment of a cover disk as described above has a number of advantages.
The cover pane comprises a silicate glass ceramic and is therefore already a chemically very resistant component. In the context of the present disclosure, a silicate glass ceramic is understood to mean a glass ceramic which comprises SiO 2 and preferably a crystal phase which, as a structural component, is an SiO 4 4- tetrahedron, ie a so-called crystalline silicate. A silicate glass-ceramic already inherently has good mechanical resistance. Furthermore, the cover disk is chemically prestressed, namely having a CS (compressive stress) of at least 250 MPa and preferably at most 1500 MPa and/or a CS30 of at least 160 MPa and preferably at most 525 MPa and/or a DoCL of at least 0.1 times the thickness of the shroud and preferably less than half the thickness of the shroud. In this way, advantageous properties of the cover plate with regard to the mechanical application tests, such as so-called "set-drop tests", which relate to the behavior of the cover plate when installed in a device, can be achieved, so that it is possible to use sufficiently thin and therefore also light to use cover plates. The cover disk therefore has a thickness of 0.4 mm to 0.85 mm. This is also advantageous because in this way high light transmissions, τ vis , of more than 80%, preferably more than 85%, are achieved in the wavelength range between 380 nm and 780 nm. Preferably, the light transmittance Values determined for comparison purposes with a cover plate thickness of 0.7 mm. Thinner slices can be stacked to achieve equivalent thickness for purposes of comparison as to whether they meet this condition; thicker slices can be thinned. In general, these light transmission values are achieved for cover pane thicknesses of between 0.4 mm and 0.85 mm.
The silicate glass ceramic contained by the cover pane comprises at least one siliceous crystal phase, which is present in at least one layer near the surface, in particular in a thickness between 20 μm and 70 μm, determined at a right angle from one of the side surfaces of the cover pane, preferably averaged after the tempering process Has volume of the unit cell, which is at least 1% by volume, preferably at least 2% by volume, greater than that of the crystal phase in the core. In other words, the silicate glass ceramic comprises a crystal phase which—in the chemically non-prestressed state—is present as a prestressable crystal phase, and in the chemically prestressed state of the cover plate according to embodiments is prestressed in such a way that the volume of the unit cell has increased as described above. The enlargement of the unit cell of the crystal phase in the chemically prestressed state is not present over the entire thickness of the cover disk, but rather only within a specific area, namely in the region of the cover disk near the surface. The cover disk, which is disk-shaped in the sense that its thickness is at least one order of magnitude less than length and width, therefore has two side surfaces (or "sides"), the dimensions of which are determined by length and width and from which perpendicular to the layer close to the surface is determined on the inside towards the core of the cover disk. This near-surface layer is formed on both sides of the cover plate. It is preferably in a
An enlargement of the unit cell of the crystal phase occurs at least in the area close to the surface. Depending on the exact tempering protocol, the ion-exchanged region can be as deep as 300 µm. It has been shown that there is a different proportion of ion-exchanged crystal phases depending on the exact depth of the layer under consideration in the cover disk. In other words, this means that there is a thickness progression in the cover plate according to embodiments. On the surface of the cover pane and preferably up to the area of a layer close to the surface, preferably from 20 μm to 70 μm, an almost complete exchange has taken place, as can be shown in corresponding EDX profiles, down to a minimum. In the case of long pre-stress protocols with a pre-stress time of 12 hours, for example, an ion exchange can be detected down to a depth of approx. 300 µm. The DoCL here is 145 µm, so a compressive stress curve is formed in the cover disk according to the ability of the material to store tensile stress. The inventors assume that crystals or crystallites or crystal phases that are present in areas below the DoCL determined by means of physical measurement technology and that are ion-exchanged do not contribute to the compressive stress because their proportion in the crystal phases is lower.
sodass damit eine Vorspannung vorliegt, weil das vergrößerte Volumen der Kristallphase im oberflächennahen Bereich auf beiden Seiten der Deckscheibe damit eine Druckspannung auf den innenliegenden Kern der Deckscheibe erzeugt.so that there is a prestress because the increased volume of the crystal phase in the near-surface area on both sides of the cover disk thus generates a compressive stress on the inner core of the cover disk.
According to one embodiment of the cover disk, the crystal phase comprises a higher proportion of sodium oxide Na 2 O and/or potassium oxide K 2 O than in the core, at least in the layer near the surface, ie in other words after the tempering process. The inventors assume that the absolute content of the crystal phase of sodium oxide Na 2 O and/or potassium oxide K 2 O in the near-surface region is at least 1 mol%, preferably at least 2 mol% in absolute terms and particularly preferably up to 7% in absolute terms Mol%, is increased over the corresponding content of the crystal phase in the core.
Erzielte Vorspannungswerte an der Oberfläche der Deckscheibe betragen um etwa 600 MPa oder weniger, beispielsweise um 500 MPa.Depending on the embodiment, the sodium ion Na + can be particularly decisive. This is because it is smaller than the potassium ion and can therefore be exchanged more easily and therefore achieves greater exchange depths, for example approximately 0.1 to 0.4 times the thickness of the cover plate. Exchange depths of, for example, 70 μm or more are thus easily possible. Prestress values achieved on the surface of the cover plate are around 600 MPa or less, for example around 500 MPa.
Since the potassium ion, as stated, is larger than the sodium ion, the diffusion of the potassium ion into the cover plate is made more difficult. Although small exchange depths are achieved here, the pretension achieved by means of a potassium exchange is also higher than that by means of a sodium exchange. In this way, compressive stress values on the surface of the cover disk can be up to 1500 MPa, for example 1100 MPa.
According to one embodiment, the glass ceramic of the cover pane comprises more than 50% by volume of crystal phase, preferably more than 70% by volume of crystal phase, and particularly preferably at most 95% by volume of crystal phase. It is therefore a glass ceramic that includes only a small residue of glassy material (so-called residual glass phase). It has been shown that a particularly efficient preload can be achieved in this way. The reason for this is not yet fully understood, but can possibly be attributed to the fact that a large volume of the crystal phase present in the glass-ceramic of the cover pane results in better prestressing. In other words, it could be that a higher bias voltage is achieved the more crystals or crystallites are available for an ion exchange. It has indeed been shown that, as also explained above, the exchange into the crystalline phase is very efficient. The inventors suspect that even with exchange rates that are otherwise the same, a chemical prestress that is better than that of a glassy material of the same chemical composition, since it is higher and also more stable, is obtained. The good prestressability into a crystalline phase or crystal phase is surprising, even with high crystal phase contents of up to 95% by volume or even more, because it had previously been assumed that the exchange mechanism also takes place via the glassy phase, since ions are more mobile here should be than in a crystalline structure with fixed lattice sites. Despite the high crystallinity of the glass-ceramic material, particularly good and efficient prestressing is advantageously possible according to this embodiment. Likewise, despite the high crystal phase content, there is still very good transparency of the glass ceramic of the cover pane—and thus overall of the cover pane itself.
The stated crystal phase content relates to the total crystal content of the glass ceramic, regardless of which phases are present. According to a preferred embodiment, the glass ceramic comprises keatite or keatite mixed crystal as the main crystal phase, which means that more than 50% by volume of the crystal phases comprised by the glass ceramic have a keatitic crystal structure. Preferably, up to 98.5% by volume of the crystal phases comprised by the glass ceramic or even 100% by volume can be present with a keatitic crystal structure, ie as keatite or keatite mixed crystal. However, it is also possible for the glass ceramic to also include secondary phases, for example nucleating agents present in crystalline form.
According to yet another embodiment, the cover disk is characterized by a haze of 0.01% to 1%, based on a thickness of the cover disk of 0.7 mm. Haze means turbidity. In other words, the cover disk is only slightly cloudy.
Die Glaskeramik umfasst daher gemäß einer Ausführungsform TiO2, vorzugsweise zu höchstens 4 Gew.-% besonders bevorzugt zu höchstens 3 Gew.-%.In order to achieve low chromaticity and/or low turbidity, it can be advantageous to limit the TiO 2 content of the glass ceramic. TiO 2 is a known component of silicate glass ceramics, for example of so-called lithium aluminum silicate glass ceramics, where it can be used in particular for efficient nucleation. However, it has been shown that this component, even if it does not color itself, can contribute to the coloration of the resulting glass-ceramic as a result of haze. According to one embodiment, the glass ceramic therefore comprises TiO 2 , preferably at most 4% by weight, particularly preferably at most 3% by weight.
According to one embodiment, the glass ceramic comprised by the cover pane is advantageously designed as a lithium aluminum silicate glass ceramic and the crystal phase as a keatite mixed crystal. Lithium-aluminum silicate glass-ceramics are well known as a material, which offers clear advantages with regard to the production of the glass-ceramic. Forming the glass ceramic as comprising keatite mixed crystal as the crystalline phase (or crystal phase) is furthermore advantageous because it has been shown that not every crystal phase in the system of lithium-aluminum-silicate glass ceramics can be tempered. However, keatite or keatite mixed crystal in particular obviously has a crystal structure which is amenable to ion exchange, specifically one in which lithium is exchanged for sodium and/or sodium and/or lithium for potassium. However, a disadvantage of known keatite mixed-crystal glass ceramics, precisely those which already have intrinsically high strength, is that these glass ceramics usually have a high degree of turbidity. Surprisingly, however, it has been found that cover panes comprising keatite mixed crystal glass ceramics are possible, which at the same time have low turbidity, only low color and also a high degree of light transmission. The reason for this is not yet fully understood by the inventors.
However, it has been shown that particularly for lithium-aluminum silicate glass ceramic and a keatite mixed crystal crystal phase, advantageous properties of the cover plate result if the keatite mixed crystals in the layer near the surface have a unit cell volume of more than 510 Å 3 , preferably more than 515 Å 3 . The inventors suspect that a mixed crystal of such a configuration has a composition in which the optical properties of the crystal phase and those of the residual glass phase are optimally matched to one another in such a way that there are few differences in the refractive index between these two phases. This reduces clouding effects.
This is a silicate glass-ceramic that can be melted sufficiently well as glass and does not tend to crystallize immediately and in an unregulated manner. Known lithium aluminum silicate glass ceramics, in particular, can be produced in this general composition range, which are well known, for example, with regard to the melting and ceramization conditions. A content of lithium in the glass ceramic is also advantageous because in this way it is possible to exchange sodium and/or potassium for lithium.
According to a further embodiment, the glass ceramic comprises MgO, with a preferred upper limit being 8% by weight. The glass ceramic particularly preferably comprises not more than 4% by weight of MgO. MgO is a preferred component because it promotes the formation of keatite solid solutions. This means that a certain MgO content leads to a reduction in the ceramization temperature. If the MgO content is too high, however, undesired secondary phases can form, such as spinel and/or magnesium titanate. This then has a negative effect on the transparency of the resulting glass-ceramic material, in particular with regard to its scattering. The MgO content of the glass ceramic is therefore advantageously limited to the above-mentioned limits.
According to one embodiment, the glass ceramic also comprises ZnO, preferably to a maximum of 6% by weight, particularly preferably not more than 2% by weight. Such a ZnO content can be advantageous because ZnO lowers the viscosity of the glass, so that the green glass of the glass-ceramic can be melted more easily. However, too high a content of ZnO leads to the formation of foreign phases, such as gahnite, and thus to increased scattering.
Other alkaline earth metal oxides such as CaO, BaO can also have a positive effect on the melting properties. However, the amount of such components RO (including the oxides of the alkaline earth metals and ZnO) should generally be limited in order to avoid the formation of extraneous phases, which can lead to greater scattering and thus to a reduction in transmission. Furthermore, in particular the oxides of the heavier alkaline earths, such as BaO, SrO, can be used in order to adapt the refractive index of the residual glass phase to the crystal phase and thus to optimize the transmission.
A particular component of the glass-ceramic according to one embodiment is SnO 2 . SnO 2 can act as a refining agent in the melt, for example, and as a nucleating agent in the glass ceramic itself. According to one embodiment, the glass ceramic of the cover pane therefore preferably comprises SnO 2 , specifically preferably to a maximum of 2% by weight. SnO 2 contents of at least 0.05% by weight and preferably at most 1.6% by weight are particularly preferred. Higher contents of SnO 2 lead to a strong tendency to devitrify and thus impair the producibility of the glass ceramic.
Die Glaskeramik umfasst daher gemäß einer Ausführungsform vorzugsweise zu höchstens 4 Gew.-% besonders bevorzugt zu höchstens 3 Gew.-%.The components ZrO 2 and TiO 2 can also act as nucleating agents in the glass ceramics according to embodiments. It has been shown that nucleation and in particular the content of nucleating agents in the glass ceramic and their relationship to one another can be decisive for the formation of an only slightly colored, siliceous glass ceramic with good light transmission and low turbidity. According to one embodiment, the glass ceramic therefore preferably comprises at most 4% by weight, particularly preferably at most 3% by weight.
A very efficient nucleating agent in the glass ceramic according to one embodiment is also ZrO 2 . According to one embodiment, the glass ceramic therefore comprises ZrO 2 , preferably at most 5% by weight, particularly preferably at most 4% by weight, and particularly preferably at least 1.2% by weight.
The glass-ceramic can also include Fe 2 O 3 , specifically up to 0.1% by weight. According to embodiments, Fe 2 O 3 is mostly present in the form of unavoidable impurities in the glass ceramics, but at the same time is also beneficial for nucleation, so that a certain content of Fe 2 O 3 can also be beneficial. However, in order to obtain a glass ceramic that is as color-neutral as possible, the Fe 2 O 3 content should be limited and is preferably not more than 0.02% by weight. In particular, contents between 0.0001% by weight and 0.1% by weight are possible, preferably between 0.0001 and 0.02% by weight. In other words, the Fe 2 O 3 content of the glass ceramic of the cover plate is generally less than 0.02% by weight according to one embodiment.
It has been shown that with such a ratio of the two nucleating components TiO 2 and ZrO 2 to one another, particularly good values in terms of turbidity and low color can be achieved.
According to one embodiment, the glass ceramic of the cover pane comprises crystal phases with a crystallite size of 120 nm or less. The crystallites comprised by the glass ceramic are preferably at most 90 nm or smaller.
An embodiment in which the glass ceramic of the cover pane is free of As 2 O 3 and/or Sb 2 O 3 is particularly preferred. In the context of the present disclosure, “free of” these components is understood to mean that these components are only present in the form of unavoidable impurities or traces, in a content of no more than 500 ppm by weight, preferably no more than 100 ppm by weight .
According to a further embodiment, the cover pane is characterized by a sharp-impact strength, determined in a set-drop test, between at least 120 cm and up to 200 cm drop height.
A so-called "sharp impact" strength is understood in the context of the present disclosure that a smartphone dummy, which contains the disc to be tested, falls onto a rough surface using a falling device in such a way that a large number of small, pointed objects (e.g. grains of sand) fall on asphalt, concrete or sandpaper) can penetrate the pane to be tested. In other words, it is an impact with one or more pointed objects, for example with particles that have very small radii of curvature or where the angle of a proportion of the points is less than 100°.
Glass-ceramic cover plates of the Keatit type, which have a chemical prestressing of the crystalline phase, achieve average fall heights of approx. 165 cm, i.e. approx. twice as high as the same glass type that is not ceramized and where the chemical prestressing is traditionally built up in the glass phase and which has an average fall height of 77 cm. If the same type of glass is unfavorably ceramized (type β-high quartz solid solution), so that chemical prestressing cannot be sufficiently developed in the crystal phase or in the glass phase, the drop height of 20 cm is insufficient.
- - Production of a silicate green glass through a melting process and subsequent hot shaping
- - Temperature treatment of the silicate green glass, with at least one nucleation step in the temperature range of 690°C-850°C for a period of 5 minutes to 8 hours, preferably 30 minutes to 2 hours and at least one ceramization step in the temperature range of 780°C-1100° C for a period of 3 minutes to 60 hours, preferably 3 minutes to 8 hours,
- - Carrying out at least one ion exchange in an exchange bath with a composition of 100% by weight to 0% by weight KNO 3 and 0% by weight to 100% by weight NaNO 3 and 0% by weight -5% by weight LiNO 3 can be used at a temperature of the exchange bath between 370°C and 500°C and for a duration of between 2 hours and 50 hours.
It is generally possible to carry out one or more further exchange steps, for example in a further step with an exchange bath with a composition between 90% by weight KNO 3 and 10% by weight NaNO 3 up to 100% by weight KNO 3 or between 95% by weight NaNO 3 and 5% by weight LiNO 3 up to 99% by weight NaNO 3 and 1% by weight LiNO 3 at temperatures between 370°C and 500°C and for a duration between one hour and up to 10 hours.
The measurement of the parameters of the chemical prestress, CS 0 (compressive stress on the surface of the cover plate), CS 30 (compressive stress or generally stress at a depth of 30 µm as well as DoCL (depth of the compressive stress level, sometimes also called exchange depth), can be done using suitable measuring devices , such as the SLP-1000 meter and the FSM 6000. However, the DoCL is not identical to the depth of ion exchange.
The present disclosure therefore generally also relates to a cover disk, produced or producible in a method according to an embodiment.
Furthermore, the present disclosure relates to the use of a cover plate according to an embodiment and or produced in a method according to an embodiment in electronic devices, in particular in electronic display devices, in particular in mobile electronic display devices, for example in mobile touch panels and / or mobile digital display devices such as smartphones or Smartwatches and touch panels in general. Furthermore, the present disclosure also relates to a display device, in particular a digital display device, such as a touch panel or a smartwatch or a smartphone comprising a cover plate according to embodiments and/or produced in a method according to embodiments.
An exchange bath is understood as meaning a molten salt, with this molten salt being used in an ion exchange process for a glass or a glass article. Within the scope of the present disclosure, the terms exchange bath and ion exchange bath are used synonymously.
As a rule, salts of technical purity are used for exchange baths. This means that despite the use of, for example, only sodium nitrate as the starting material for an exchange bath, certain impurities are still included in the exchange bath. The exchange bath is a melt of a salt, for example sodium nitrate, or a mixture of salts, for example a mixture of a sodium and a potassium salt. The composition of the exchange bath is specified in such a way that it refers to the nominal composition of the exchange bath without taking into account any impurities that may be present. Therefore, insofar as a 100% sodium nitrate melt is mentioned within the scope of the present disclosure, this means that only sodium nitrate was used as the raw material. However, the actual content of sodium nitrate in the exchange bath can deviate from this and usually does, since technical raw materials in particular have a certain proportion of impurities. However, this is generally less than 5% by weight, based on the total weight of the exchange bath, in particular less than 1% by weight.
Correspondingly, in the case of exchange baths which contain a mixture of different salts, the nominal contents of these salts are specified without taking into account technical-related impurities in the starting materials. An exchange bath with 90% by weight of KNO 3 and 10% by weight of NaNO 3 can also contain small amounts of impurities, which, however, are due to the raw materials and are generally less than 5% by weight, based on the total weight of the exchange bath, in particular less than 1% by weight.
Furthermore, the composition of the exchange bath also changes during the course of the ion exchange, since lithium ions in particular migrate from the glass or the glass article into the exchange bath as a result of the continued ion exchange. However, such a change in the composition of the exchange bath due to aging is also not taken into account in the present case, unless expressly stated otherwise. Rather, within the scope of the present disclosure, when specifying the composition of an exchange bath, reference is made to the nominal original composition.
Beispieleexamples
The invention is explained in more detail below using examples.
Die Zusammensetzungen erfindungsgemäßer glaskeramischer Materialien finden sich in Tabelle 1.The compositions of glass-ceramic materials according to the invention can be found in Table 1.
The materials listed in Table 1 were melted and refined at temperatures of approx. 1600 to 1680° C. using raw materials customary in the glass industry. The mixture was first melted in crucibles made of sintered silica glass and then poured into Pt/Rh crucibles with inner crucibles made of silica glass and homogenized by stirring at temperatures of approx. 1550° C. for 30 minutes. After standing at 1640°C for 2 hours, castings measuring approx. 140mm×100mm×30mm were cast and stress-relieved in a cooling furnace at approx. 620 to 680°C and cooled to room temperature. The test specimens for measuring the properties in the glassy state and for the ceramization were prepared from the castings.
As a rule, two-stage programs, which are given in Table 1, were used for the ceramization. Here, the starting glasses are first heated from room temperature to a nucleation temperature above T g and held there for a time sufficient for nucleation. The samples are then heated to the ceramization temperature and also held there. Three or more stage programs can also be used (example 2 in Table 1). Holding times can still be replaced by slow heating rates. Crystal phases and their contents as well as the transmission in the visible range τ vis (on samples with a thickness of 0.7 mm) and the color values in the Lab system (standard illuminant C) were determined on the ceramized samples using XRD.

Die Werte für CS 30 lagen zwischen 195 MPa und 360 MPa.After ceramization, the sample contains keatite mixed crystals as the main crystal phase (96% keatite mixed crystal, 3% ZrTiO 4 ). After prestressing (at temperatures of 420-440°C for 7.5-18 h), all samples showed an increase in the unit cell in the near-surface layer of more than 1% compared to the non-prestressed sample, regardless of the salt bath chosen. The sample that was prestressed in 100% KNO 3 even showed the formation of two different keatite mixed crystal structures in the near-surface layer, both of which have a larger unit cell volume compared to the non-prestressed keatite. All samples also showed an increase in strength with DoCL values of 102 µm (100% KNO 3 )-154 µm (80% KNO 3 /20% NaNO 3 ). The values for CS 30 were between 195 MPa and 360 MPa.
Samples with a composition according to example 9 were produced in a manner analogous to that given in table 1 example 9 and ceramicized and tempered. They contain nepheline ((Na,K)[AlSiO 4 ]) as the main crystal phase and traces of rutile. An XRD measurement gave the following crystallographic data for nepheline (hexagonal structure) a=10.026(5) Å, c=8.372(5) Å, volume of the unit cell: V=728.8(10) Å 3 . After tempering (100%KNO 3 , 8h at 500°C) the kalsilite (potassium-substituted end member of the nepheline solid solution series, KAlSiO 4 ) yielded: a=5.170(5) Å, c=8.730(5) Å. For a direct comparison, the a-lattice constant has to be doubled here due to the different size of the unit cell of both structures (so that the same number of formula units is in the unit cell). This results in a unit cell volume of V=808.3(10) Å 3 for Kalsilit, which corresponds to an increase of about 10%.
Prestressing conditions and thus achieved prestressing parameters are listed in the table below for different cover plates.
CT stands for center tension and is given in MPa.

The set-drop test is preferably carried out as follows:
It is pointed out that between the
