Description
The invention relates to a method for producing an inert gas atmosphere in an inert gas box, such as. B. a laminar flow box or a clean gas housing. Furthermore, the invention relates to an inerting device for producing an inert gas atmosphere in an inert gas box (inerting) and an inert gas box that is equipped with the inerting device. The invention is used in process engineering and/or production engineering using inert gas.
The use of inert gas boxes to create a local atmosphere of an inert gas (inert working gas) is well known. The inert gas is required for certain applications or processes in order to protect the processed goods from harmful influences, e.g. B. from oxygen or water vapor to protect. After assembly, maintenance or any other access to an inert gas box, this is initially filled with a non-inert gas, such as e.g. B. filled with ambient air. Before the inert gas box is put into operation, this existing gas must be replaced with the desired inert gas. For this purpose, it is known from practice to flush the inert gas box with the inert gas (working or flushing gas, typically nitrogen or argon) before putting it into operation. The purge acts as a dilution process, progressively reducing the concentration of the initially present non-inert gas and increasing the concentration of the inert gas. The inert gas flows into the inert gas box on one side and gas is discharged from the inert gas box into an exhaust pipe at a position that is as far away as possible. This flushing is carried out over such a long period of time with the highest possible volume flow until the concentration of the residual gas contamination in the inert gas is sufficiently reduced to allow the desired processes that require inert gas to take place or the atmosphere in the inert gas box with other means, such as e.g. Gas purification systems to further purify.
Conventional inerting by flushing has several disadvantages. Firstly, inerting typically takes several hours, depending on the inert gas volume flow, the box volume and the geometry of the box and its internals. B. result in long downtimes of the inert gas box during maintenance work. The duration of the inerting not only affects the availability of the individual inert gas box, but in most cases also the downtime of an entire production line in which the inert gas box is integrated and which represents a considerable investment value. Long inerting and/or downtimes lead to a high loss of productivity with corresponding costs.
Furthermore, conventional inerting typically requires a large volume of inert gas for flushing, which can be about 10 to 15 times the box volume or more. The required volume of inert gas causes additional high costs for inerting. A further restriction results from the fact that the volume flow required for conventional inerting cannot be generated on the media side by the user, or can only be generated to a limited extent.
The object of the invention is to provide an improved method for producing an inert gas atmosphere in an inert gas box, an improved inerting device and/or an improved inert gas box, the disadvantages of conventional techniques being avoided. The inerting method, the inerting device and/or the inert gas box should in particular enable a shorter inerting period, reduced inert gas consumption, reduced costs and/or simplified requirements for the infrastructure when operating the inert gas box.
This object is achieved in its various aspects by a method for producing an inert gas atmosphere, an inerting device and/or an inert gas box, which have the features of the independent claims. Preferred embodiments and applications of the invention result from the dependent claims.
According to a first general aspect of the invention, the above object is achieved by a method for producing an inert gas atmosphere in an inert gas box, which comprises the steps of providing the inert gas box filled with a gas to be replaced by an inert gas and supplying the inert gas into the inert gas box until the gas to be replaced is removed from the inert gas box and the inert gas box is filled with the inert gas. According to the invention, the inert gas is supplied with such a high volume flow distributed over a cross-sectional area of the inert gas box that a directed displacement flow of the inert gas is generated, which forces the gas to be replaced out of the inert gas box.
According to a second general aspect of the invention, the above object is achieved by an inerting device that is configured to produce an inert gas atmosphere in an inert gas box and an inert gas supply device that is set up to provide an inert gas in the inert gas box by means of which a previously in the inert gas box contained gas is replaceable, and includes a discharge device with which the gas to be replaced can be discharged from the inert gas box. According to the invention, the inert gas supply device is set up to supply the inert gas with such a high volume flow distributed over a cross-sectional area of the inert gas box that a directed displacement flow of the inert gas can be generated, which is suitable for displacing the gas to be replaced from the inert gas box. The inerting device or one of its embodiments is preferably set up to carry out the method according to the first general aspect of the invention or one of its embodiments.
According to a third general aspect of the invention, the above object is achieved by an inert gas box equipped with the inerting device according to the second general aspect of the invention or one of its embodiments.
Advantageously, the above Task solved by pushing the gas to be replaced through the interior of the inert gas box by means of the displacement flow and deriving it from the inert gas box. The term "displacement flow" refers, in particular as is customary in ventilation technology, to a flow that acts like a piston or slide on the gas to be replaced and pushes it through the inert gas box to the discharge device. The technique according to the invention thus differs from the conventional inerting by means of flushing, in which the inert gas partial pressure is gradually increased and the partial pressure of the gas to be replaced is reduced by the supply of inert gas by mixing inert gas and gas to be replaced.
For this purpose, the inert gas is supplied in a first area of the inert gas box, in which the inert gas supply device is located, and the shape of the displacement flow is generated in such a way that the volume flow distributed, preferably evenly distributed, over the cross-sectional area of the inert gas box is formed. The cross-sectional area of the inert gas box is the area of the interior of the inert gas box perpendicular to a spatial direction from the inert gas supply device to a second area of the inert gas box in which the discharge device is located. The volume flow distributed in relation to the cross-sectional area of the inert gas box is characterized in that flow lines of the displacement flow run through the entire cross-sectional area at the same time, preferably with the same local volume flow components. This also includes cases where local limited sections of the cross-sectional area, z. B. due to installations in the inert gas box, flow through is reduced or not at all, insofar as this has no or only a negligibly small impairment of the displacement effect.
The preferably evenly distributed volume flow is shaped by the design of the inert gas supply device. The term "uniformly distributed volume flow" refers to the uniform displacement effect of the inert gas and includes design variants in which all local volume flow components are the same, or alternatively design variants in which local volume flow components, e.g. B. vary due to components of the inerting device and / or the inert gas box, while their displacement effect is retained.
The volume flow of the displacement flow is generated by adjusting the inert gas volume supplied per unit of time in such a way that a backflow of the gas to be replaced in the inert gas box is prevented. In a specific application, the volume flow can be determined by tests and/or flow simulations.
The gas to be replaced (generally: first gas) is a gas present in the inert gas box (including a vapour) which, for example, is an ambient gas, in particular air, or another gas that is not inert for an application of the inert gas box (also referred to as impure gas ) includes. The inert gas (generally: second gas) is a gas that is to be filled into the inert gas box for an application and is inert (non-reactive or low-reactive) for the components and/or substances used during the application. The inert gas atmosphere to be generated consists entirely of the inert gas, or it can contain residues of gas to be replaced, insofar as these are tolerable within the scope of the use of the inert gas box.
Compared to conventional inerting by means of flushing, the duration of inerting can be significantly reduced, with the consumption of inert gas also being reduced, which is particularly important in the case of a large inert gas box, e.g. B. is advantageous in a production plant and reduces the operating costs of the inert gas box and the entire production plant. For example, inert gas with 1.5 to 2 times the internal volume of the inert gas box may be sufficient to displace the gas to be replaced from the inert gas box, while using conventional purging requires inert gas with 10 to 15 times the internal volume.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the supply of the inert gas includes introducing liquefied inert gas on a first inner wall surface of the inert gas box, evaporating the liquefied inert gas by means of a heating device which extends over the first inner wall surface of the inert gas box so that the inert gas is released in the gaseous state distributed on the first inner wall surface, thereby generating the displacement flow of the inert gas in the gaseous state through the inert gas box toward a second inner wall surface of the inert gas box at a distance from the first inner wall surface, and an outlet of displaced gas to be replaced on the second inner wall surface. The inner wall surfaces include z. B. floor and ceiling surfaces or side walls of the inert gas box. Depending on the geometry of the box, one of the inner wall surfaces can also comprise a floor or ceiling surface and another of the inner wall surfaces can comprise a side wall of the inert gas box.
In relation to the device, the inert gas supply device is preferably set up for introducing liquefied inert gas on the first inner wall surface of the inert gas box and equipped with a heating device which extends over the first inner wall surface of the inert gas box and is arranged for evaporation and release of the inert gas distributed on the first inner wall surface. The discharge device is designed for discharging displaced gas on a second inner wall surface of the inert gas box at a distance from the first inner wall surface, e.g. B. arranged opposite to the first inner wall surface in relation to the inner space. The drain means may extend over all or part of the second inner wall surface.
The release of the inert gas on the first inner wall surface means that the inert gas is released on the side of the inner wall surface facing the inside of the inert gas box, in particular on the side of the heating device arranged on the inner wall surface facing the inside of the inert gas box. Advantageously, the liquefied inert gas is evaporated by means of the heating device. The evaporation results in a rapid increase in volume of the inert gas, which generates the volumetric flow of the displacement flow and drives the displacement flow. Depending on the size of the inert gas box, the gas to be replaced can be displaced within seconds or a few minutes. Because the displacement flow is driven by evaporation, a fan for driving the displacement flow is not required.
The heating device preferably comprises a heat exchanger device which is operated with a liquid working medium. The liquid working medium, which comprises water or another heat transfer medium, for example, is provided in a tank and conveyed to a heat exchanger unit with a pump and/or under the effect of an internal pressure in the tank. The heat exchanger unit preferably has an effective working surface, which is acted upon on the one hand by the working medium and on the other hand by the liquefied inert gas and extends over a large area, d. H. extends over at least half of the inner wall of the inert gas box. The heat exchanger device particularly preferably comprises a plate heat exchanger, e.g. B. made of copper and / or aluminum.
The use of the heat exchanger device has several advantages with regard to rapid vaporization of inert gas and the operation of the inert gas box. The working medium can be brought to a working temperature, e.g. B. 80 ° C, are preheated. Since the preheating takes place before the inerting, the duration of the preheating is not critical, and the conversion of liquefied inert gas into the vapor state can take place with the heat exchanger device at high speed. The use of the optionally provided plate heat exchanger has the additional advantage that it forms an extensive source of the displacement flow and itself stores heat, which additionally supports the evaporation. During operation of the inert gas box after inerting, the heat exchanger device can be used to control the temperature (optionally heating and/or cooling) of the interior of the inert gas box. Advantageously, a heat exchanger already present in the inert gas box for its work function can be used as a heat exchanger device for generating the displacement flow.
The configuration of the heating device with a heat exchanger device is not mandatory. With suitable dimensioning of the inert gas box, in particular with a sufficiently small internal volume of the inert gas box, direct electrical heating can be provided for the vaporization of liquid inert gas.
According to a further preferred embodiment of the invention, the liquefied inert gas in the form of droplets is brought into planar contact with the heat exchanger device. The droplets are distributed over the working surface of the heat exchanger unit. For this purpose, the inert gas supply device for applying the liquefied inert gas to the surface in the form of droplets is preferably arranged on the heat exchanger device. The application of droplets preferably means that the liquefied inert gas is brought into contact with the heat exchanger unit as a distributed aerosol, so that advantageously uniform evaporation is promoted and undesirable effects caused by the Leidenfrost phenomenon are avoided.
The inert gas supply device particularly preferably has a nozzle device which is arranged for spraying the liquefied inert gas onto the heat exchanger device. If the liquefied inert gas is sprayed onto the heat exchanger device with the nozzle device, there are advantages for the distribution of the inert gas on the heat exchanger unit. The nozzle device can comprise a plurality of nozzles which are distributed over the working surface of the heat exchanger unit. Alternatively, a single nozzle may be provided having a spray profile covering the working surface of the heat exchanger unit. According to a further alternative, a different deposition means can be provided for applying and evaporating the liquid inert gas on the heat exchanger unit.
According to a further variant of the invention, the heat exchanger device is dimensioned in such a way and the liquid working medium is preheated to such a temperature before the liquefied inert gas is introduced into the inert gas box that the evaporation of the liquefied inert gas that hits the heat exchanger device, in particular the heat exchanger unit, takes place instantaneously and the temperature of the inert gas in the gaseous state to the temperature of the gas to be replaced in the inert gas box, e.g. B. to room temperature, is approximated. The approximation (or: adaptation) of the temperature means that the temperature of the inert gas in the gaseous state is equal or almost equal to the temperature of the gas to be replaced, which advantageously eliminates undesirable flow effects, such as e.g. B. turbulence and backflow, the contact of the displacing inert gas and the gas to be replaced as well as an undesirable cooling of the equipment and machines in the box can be avoided.
In a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the inert gas released in the gaseous state is distributed over the cross-sectional area of the inert gas box by means of a distributor device, the distributor device being arranged adjacent to the heating device and extending over the entire cross-section of the inert gas box. A distribution device for distributing the inert gas released in the gaseous state over the cross-sectional area of the inert gas box is preferably arranged in relation to the device, with the distribution device extending adjacent to the heating device over the cross-sectional area of the inert gas box.
The distribution device is positioned on the side of the heating device that faces the interior of the inert gas box, in particular towards the interior in front of the heat exchanger device. The inert gas vaporized at the heating device particularly preferably spreads out in a distance between the heating device and the distributor device and enters the interior of the inert gas box through the distributor device. The distributor device has a gas-permeable, single-layer or multi-layer wall, such as e.g. B a perforated plate, a perforated metal sheet, a membrane and/or a filter. In addition to promoting a uniform displacement flow, the distributor device can advantageously also fulfill a filter function, in that particles transported with the evaporated inert gas, such as e.g. As impurities and / or foreign matter are retained.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, the displacement flow can be a laminar flow. Advantageously, this supports the displacement effect and minimizes backflow of the gas to be replaced. The inert gas supply device can be equipped with a fan device, such as. B. at least one fan, and optionally flow-shaping elements, which is arranged to generate the laminar flow of the inert gas. For example, according to a further variant of the invention, the inerting device can be part of a device for providing a permanent laminar flow to ensure a particle-poor atmosphere.
A further advantage of the invention is that the direction of the displacement flow can be freely selected and in particular can be adapted to the internal shape of the inert gas box and/or the shape of any built-in components that may be present. According to a first variant, the displacement flow in the gravitational direction, i. H. be aligned perpendicular to the horizontal direction from a ceiling area to a floor area of the inert gas box. In this case, the displacement effect of the inert gas is advantageously supported by its weight. According to a further variant, the displacement flow can be aligned in the horizontal direction, which is particularly advantageous in the case of inert gas boxes with a large horizontal or vertical extent, in particular inert gas boxes which primarily extend in a predetermined longitudinal direction. In a further alternative, the displacement flow can be aligned counter to the direction of gravity, in which case dripping of inert gas that is still liquid can be avoided and rapid injection of inert gas that has just vaporized at low temperature can be avoided. According to further alternatives, a non-vertical displacement flow inclined relative to the horizontal direction can also be provided.
According to a further advantageous feature of the invention, the displacement flow preferably has a flow velocity in a range from 0.05 m/s to 5 m/s. At lower flow velocities, the displacement effect of the inert gas may be too low, while at higher flow velocities, undesired turbulence may occur.
The inert gas supplied for the inerting preferably has a gas volume in a range from one to five times the box volume of the inert gas box. The inventors have found that for inerting, a sufficient gas exchange can advantageously be achieved in the inert gas box even with the simple box volume and that more than five times the box volume is not required.
The inert gas preferably comprises nitrogen and/or argon, which is of particular advantage in most inert gas box applications due to the availability of these gases in the liquid state and suitability as non-reactive or non-reactive. The gas to be replaced preferably contains at least a portion of oxygen and/or water vapor.
The invention can advantageously be used with different types, designs and/or sizes of inert gas boxes with or without internals. The inert gas box can e.g. B. include a laminar flow box, in particular for chemical, biochemical or biological applications. Alternatively, the laminar flow box can include a clean gas housing of a production plant, in particular with a volume of 1 to 200 m 3 .

Features of embodiments of the invention are described below by way of example with reference to an inerting device in an inert gas box, which comprises a so-called glove box in which a vertically falling inert gas displacement flow is generated for inerting. Details of the glove box and its application are not described insofar as they are known from the prior art. It is emphasized that the implementation of the invention in practice is not limited to this example, but is correspondingly also possible with other types and sizes of inert gas boxes and other directions of displacement flow. The inerting according to the invention can be combined with subsequent flushing and/or gas purification in order to remove residues of gas to be replaced or impurities.
A discharge device 250 (with gas recirculation) for discharging displaced gas from the
In a lower working area of the
In order to supply inert gas with a volume flow distributed over the cross-sectional area of the
The
The
The
Optionally, a
With the method of the invention, the inert gas atmosphere is created in the inert gas box by the inert gas, such as. B. nitrogen, is flowed through the
In a first step, before the
When the working
Flaps (not shown) are then closed to separate the laminar flow area. The aim is to impose a directed flow downwards on the vaporized nitrogen in order to form displacement flow 1. To influence the gas path, the flaps are arranged in such a way that the inert gas released by evaporation is directed in the direction of the inert gas box and cannot escape against the direction of flow. Only after completion of the inerting are the flaps opened and give the gas path for a circulation flow z. B. for gas cleaning or permanent laminar flow operation.
The liquid nitrogen is conveyed from the
The supply of liquid nitrogen and the evaporation are continued until the previously contained air is completely or almost completely removed from the
After completing the inerting of the inert gas box, the flaps for separating the laminar flow area are opened and liquid nitrogen is added for a short time (e.g. a few seconds) to flush any dead volumes in connected areas.
Thereafter, the inert
The laminar flow, which is known per se, is generated by switching on the
