Synthetic resin compressed wood is well known and is used in various technical areas. In particular, due to its advantageous electrical properties, it is regularly used as an electrical and thermal insulation material in oil-filled power transformers, rotors of turbo generators and similar places where heavy components have to be supported.
Synthetic resin compressed wood, which is defined and technically described by DIN EN 61061, is regularly made from veneers, with the veneers usually being obtained by cutting or peeling a trunk. Accordingly, a distinction is made between sliced veneers and peeled veneers. The veneers are then impregnated with a synthetic resin, in particular soaked or coated, and arranged in a stack, with the stack then being compacted or pressed at high temperatures to form the synthetic resin compressed wood, with the term “high temperatures” referring here in particular to a temperature range from 100 to 300 °C, preferably in the range of 150 °C.
All technical standards listed in the present patent application refer to the version valid on the date (priority date) that is decisive for the seniority of the present patent application.
It is also known to use compressed resin lumber to form bearing blocks for storing tanks for cryogenic liquids. This synthetic resin plywood is impregnated with a synthetic resin, so that a sufficiently stable bearing block can be formed from the synthetic resin plywood. A tank is usually supported by several bearing blocks or a row of bearings, which can form a fixed bearing or floating bearing for the tank. Due to the good thermal insulation properties of the synthetic resin pressed wood, this is well suited for the formation of such bearing blocks. On a bearing side of the bearing block facing the relevant tank, a temperature on the bearing side can be -160° C. or lower, for example, if a tank made of metal is filled with a cryogenic liquid. An underside or bearing underside of the bearing block facing away from the tank can simultaneously have a temperature of -30° C. to 0° C. or higher, for example. A height of the bearing block is therefore dimensioned in such a way that a desired insulating effect is achieved. It is essential that, especially if the tank is installed in a ship, no components adjacent to the bearing block are cooled below 0°C, because this can lead to brittle fracture of the component or the component is not cooled below a certain still permissible temperature may be. For example, an elasticity limit of steel, especially ship steel, can be significantly changed by cooling below 0°C.
The present invention is therefore based on the object of proposing a storage block for storing a tank for cryogenic liquids or a tank with a storage block, a ship with a tank and a method for producing a storage block, which is improved in terms of service life.
This object is achieved by a bearing block having the features of claim 1, a tank having the features of
The storage block according to the invention for storing a tank for cryogenic liquids, in particular liquid gas, LNG, LPG, ethylene or the like, in a ship is made of synthetic resin pressed wood, the synthetic resin pressed wood being made of veneers that are impregnated with a synthetic resin and arranged in a stack , wherein the stack is subsequently compacted under high temperatures to form the synthetic resin lumber, wherein the bearing block forms a bearing side facing the tank for connection to the tank, wherein in the bearing side a gap is formed in the synthetic resin plywood which runs substantially orthogonally to the bearing side , the gap being filled with an aerogel.
As has been found, the bearing block according to the invention does not have significantly poorer strength properties compared to a corresponding bearing block without a gap due to the gap formed in the bearing side, which is filled with the airgel, since essentially a compressive force is exerted on the bearing side. The gap also makes it possible to avoid the undesirable formation of cracks in the area of the bearing side. Since the gap runs through the bearing block in the area of the bearing side, the bearing side of the bearing block is divided into at least two surface areas. The airgel in the gap has particularly good thermal insulation properties and is hydrophobic. At the same time, the airgel is flexible and can compensate for stresses caused by thermal expansion in the area of the gap or to compensate for shrinkage of synthetic resin compressed wood. The good thermal insulation properties of the aerogel also make it possible to make the gap comparatively narrow, so that the strength of the bearing block is essentially unaffected and the synthetic resin compressed wood is thermally separated from one another on both sides of the gap. At the same time, by filling the gap with the airgel, it becomes possible to effectively prevent dirt, water or the like from entering the gap. Overall, the formation of cracks as a result of temperature stresses can be prevented and the service life of the bearing block can thus be extended.
The gap can be formed to run from a side face of the bearing block adjoining the bearing side to an opposite side face of the bearing block adjoining the bearing side. Accordingly, the gap can run continuously from the side surface to the opposite side surface. In principle, however, it can also be provided that the gap is formed only in sections on the bearing side.
The gap can penetrate the bearing block in sections, also preferably up to 20%, 35%, 50% or 70% of a height of the bearing block. This means that the gap does not completely separate the bearing block, but only partially. The height of the bearing block results from a distance from the bearing side to an underside of the bearing block. The gap is then formed in the bearing block, starting from the bearing side towards the underside. After an expected temperature difference between the bearing side and the underside, the gap can be formed in relation to the height. It can thus be ensured that cracks do not form as a result of stresses in areas located further inside the bearing block.
A bottom of the gap can advantageously be formed with a radius. The radius can prevent a notch effect from occurring at the bottom of the gap. The radius can, for example, correspond to half the width of the gap.
Furthermore, the radius can be formed by a bore, the diameter of which is larger than the width of the gap. A notch effect at the bottom of the gap can be reliably avoided by this type of drilling.
The gap may be continuous over a perimeter of the bearing block. Accordingly, the gap can extend over the entire circumference of the bearing block, starting from the bearing side, across the adjacent side surface of the bearing block, through a bottom side to the opposite side surface of the adjacent side surface and back to the bearing side. The gap does not fully penetrate the bearing block. The formation of cracks as a result of temperature stresses in an outer surface of the bearing block can thus be prevented. The gap can be formed, for example, by a circumferential sawing gap on the bearing block.
The bearing block can be formed from a first block and a second block, wherein the blocks can be firmly connected to one another by means of an adhesive material. In principle, the bearing block can be designed in one piece. The formation of the bearing block from the first block and the second block, which are then glued together, makes it particularly easy to produce larger bearing blocks. The bearing block can also be formed from a number of blocks >2, for example 4 or 5 blocks. At the same time, it is possible to carry out the gluing in such a way that the airgel is arranged between the first block and the second block. The airgel can thus be fitted in the gap in a particularly simple manner. the blocks can be designed as block halves or of different sizes from one another.
The gap may be in a common plane with a glue line or orthogonal relative to a glue line of the blocks. For example, the gap can be easily formed by forming a recess in the first block and/or second block adjacent to the adhesive seam or in its extension. The airgel can be inserted into the recess, which then fills the gap after the first block has been glued to the second block at the glued seam. Alternatively, the bondline may be orthogonal relative to the gap. For example, at a bottom of the gap so that the first block and the second block are connected to each other via a third block. As an adhesive, a synthetic resin or a glue can be used.
The bearing block may have at least one connector made of synthetic resin compressed wood connecting the first block to the second block, the connector being capable of bridging the gap. The connecting means can be, for example, a projection formed within the bearing block, which then forms the gap. The connecting means consequently bridges the gap and connects a first block and a second block of the bearing block to one another. Alternatively, the connecting means can also be a board made of synthetic resin compressed wood, which is arranged on or glued to the first block and the second block.
The connecting means may be an extension molded onto or inserted into the first block and/or the second block. The extension can be formed by one of the blocks or both blocks and bridge the gap. Alternatively, a recess can be formed in one or both blocks, for example by means of milling, into which the extension is inserted. The extension can be glued to the block(s) using synthetic resin.
The bearing block can have a plurality of connecting means, wherein the connecting means can be a bolt or a rod. For example, four connecting means arranged symmetrically relative to one another can be arranged between the blocks. The connecting means can be in the form of a bolt or a rod and can span the gap. In principle, the connecting means can form any desired cross section, with a round or square cross section being particularly easy to form. If the connecting means is a bolt, a bore can be formed by milling in the first block and in the second block, in which the connecting means is inserted and bonded with synthetic resin. In addition to the connecting means, round or angular projections or plates can be provided which surround the connecting means and define a width of the gap. Such a plate can be formed independently of the connecting means or also formed on it in the manner of a collar.
A ratio of a width of the gap to a thickness of the blocks can be 1:30 to 1:50, the thickness of the blocks preferably being the same. The gap is then comparatively narrow in relation to the thickness of the blocks, so that the strength of the bearing block is hardly affected by the gap. The width of the gap can be defined, for example, by connecting means. It is also possible to form the width of the gap in a defined manner by plates or projections inserted into the gap. If the thickness of the blocks is equal, it becomes possible to manufacture the blocks in large quantities at low cost. When a bearing block is formed from two blocks of this type, the gap always passes through a center of the bearing block. In principle, it is also possible to line up a number of blocks in such a way that gaps are formed which always run through the bearing block at the same distance relative to one another.
The gap can be completely filled with the airgel. In this way, the bearing block can also form an uninterrupted, closed surface in the area of the gap. It is then no longer possible for dirt or water to penetrate the gap.
The veneer can be maple, birch or beech, preferably red beech (Fagus silvatica). Compared to spruce or pine, for example, red beech has advantageous mechanical and electrical properties due to its natural homogeneity and ideal cell structure. It is nevertheless possible to use spruce wood, pine wood or hornbeam wood as the wood.
The synthetic resin pressed wood can be completely impregnated with the synthetic resin, whereby the synthetic resin can be a phenolic resin. The synthetic resin can be applied to the veneers before they are compressed or pressed to glue them together. For this purpose, the synthetic resin can have a viscosity that allows the synthetic resin to penetrate substantially completely into the veneers, so that the synthetic resin compressed wood can be completely impregnated with the synthetic resin. For example, full impregnation can be achieved by vacuum impregnation. In particular, a phenolic resin or a phenol-formaldehyde resole resin glue can be used, whereby the Synthetic resin pressed wood or the veneers can be glued or glued for optimal protection against delamination.
The synthetic resin compressed wood can advantageously contain at least 25% by weight of phenolic plastic. The phenolic plastic is created by the hardening of the phenolic resin in the synthetic resin compressed wood. With this proportion of phenolic plastic, the synthetic resin compressed wood can be formed with sufficient strength properties for use as a bearing block. A water absorption of the synthetic resin compressed wood can essentially be ruled out.
A surface of the bearing block may be coated with the synthetic resin. The entire bearing block or its surface can preferably be coated with the synthetic resin. The bearing block can then be designed to be as hydrophobic as possible, since the coating of the surface with the synthetic resin prevents water or liquid from penetrating into the synthetic resin compressed wood. The surface of the synthetic resin pressed wood and/or the veneers can be processed, in particular sanded and/or planed. As a result, in addition to the most precise tolerances, a particularly optimal and rapid absorption of synthetic resin can be guaranteed when the synthetic resin pressed wood is used as the material for a bearing block. The surface of the bearing block can also be uncoated if the bearing block is completely impregnated with the synthetic resin.
The veneers can be arranged with a parallel, crosswise or tangential grain direction to the stack, which grain direction can be transverse, orthogonal or preferably parallel relative to the gap. A tangential fiber direction is advantageous in particular for synthetic resin compressed wood with a block-shaped geometry, since in this way a required flexural strength can be optimized in particular. The choice of a specific fiber direction or layer direction also has an influence on the mechanical and thermal insulation properties of the synthetic resin compressed wood. A thermal expansion of the synthetic resin compressed wood is, for example, parallel to a lamination direction or fiber direction many times smaller than transverse to a lamination direction or fiber direction. A lamination direction or fiber direction therefore preferably runs orthogonally or parallel to the bearing side. The fiber direction can be vertical and parallel relative to the gap or vertical and orthogonal relative to the gap. It is therefore possible to adapt these properties of the synthetic resin compressed wood to the structural conditions or needs by selecting a specific fiber direction.
Further, the synthetic resin compressed wood having a density of 0.7 to 0.9 g/cm 3 , 0.9 to 1.1 g/cm 3 , 1.2 to 1.35 g/cm 3 or 1.35 up to 1.4 g/cm 3 . A specific density can be achieved by selecting a specific compression level of the resin lumber. The level of compression also influences the mechanical and thermal insulation properties of the synthetic resin compressed wood. The density can preferably be 1.4 g/cm 3 .
The bearing block arrangement can be formed from at least two bearing blocks, wherein the bearing blocks can be firmly connected to one another by means of a synthetic resin. The bearing block assembly may be configured to consist of a plurality of bearing blocks bonded together to form an adhesive gap. The adhesive gap can be filled with the synthetic resin in such a way that dirt or water is prevented from penetrating the adhesive gap and a firm mechanical connection is formed between the bearing blocks.
The tank according to the invention comprises at least one bearing block according to the invention.
The tank can have an approximately cylindrical shape or an approximately spherical shape (Type A, B or C). The tank can comprise a plurality of differently designed bearing blocks, which enable the tank to be stored or positioned. Furthermore, the tank can be provided with supplementary insulation, for example polyurethane foam. The tank can be designed as a fuel tank, storage tank or transport tank.
The ship according to the invention has at least one tank according to the invention. The ship may also have a plurality of tanks each having storage blocks. The bearing block(s) can be fixed to the tank and/or a structural element of the ship by means of a cast resin. The casting resin can be used in the form of a filling compound for connecting bearing blocks to one another, to connecting bearing blocks to the tank and/or to connecting bearing blocks to structural elements of the ship, in a hold of the ship, to a deck of the ship and/or with bottom or side walls of a ship's hull. Depending on the design of the bearing block, it can be designed as a fixed bearing or a floating bearing. It is also possible for a number of storage blocks to be distributed in a semicircle around a tank or under the tank as individual large-format storage blocks.

According to the invention, an airgel is used to produce a bearing block for storing a tank for cryogenic liquids, in particular liquid gas, LNG, LPG, ethylene or the like, in a ship, the bearing block being formed from the airgel and synthetic resin compressed wood, veneers being impregnated with a synthetic resin and be arranged into a stack, the stack being subsequently compacted under high temperatures to form the synthetic resin compact, the bearing block forming a bearing side facing the tank for connection to the tank, wherein in the bearing side a gap is formed in the synthetic resin compact which is substantially runs orthogonally to the bearing side, the gap being filled with the airgel. The use of the aerogel makes it possible to achieve a particularly good thermal separation of block sections of the bearing block formed by the gap and at the same time to flexibly fill the gap so that no dirt or liquids can penetrate into the gap.
