Description
The present invention relates to a method for producing a composite film with light transmission properties that can be electrically controlled in particular in some areas, such a composite film that has been produced according to the method, and the use of the composite film to produce a composite pane element.
Such composite glazing elements with electrically controllable light transmission properties and methods for their manufacture are known in the prior art. In this case, an electrically contactable multilayer composite film is introduced into the space between two pane elements, which gives the pane element the electrically controllable light transmission properties. Such switchable composite films (SPD films, PDLC films, EC films) usually have a multi-layer composite, the outer layers of which are often formed by a plastic layer, often a polyethylene terephthalate layer (PET layer), between which further layers, in particular conductive ones Layers and at least one functional layer are arranged. The functional layer can be divided into several areas, which are referred to as so-called functional zones. The individual functional zones are currently contacted using a copper adhesive tape (busbar) and additional application of copper flags and soldering of wires/cables in manual production for each functional zone individually. To do this, a functional layer must be exposed in the areas where contact is to take place. To do this, an outer layer of the composite foil has to be removed manually in these areas and the electrical coating has to be cleaned manually to remove residues of the functional layer. A metallic paste is then applied to this area and dried. To do this, the exposed area must be manually masked with different adhesive tapes to prevent the metallic paste from being applied to unwanted areas of the functional layer or to prevent short circuits between the functional zones. This process is expensive even for full-surface functional layers and becomes very complicated for segmented functional films. Due to the many manual process steps, there is low reproducibility, especially with regard to the lateral geometry of the metallic layer (e.g. silver strips). In addition, there is a difficulty in that the functional layer or the functional zones can become soiled if the adhesive tapes used to mask the functional layer are applied in an unclean manner or at the wrong places. This can lead to contamination of the functional film, which can lead to short circuits or the interconnection of adjacent functional zones when using the compound pane element. If such a malfunction occurs, the functional film must be discarded as a costly scrap. In addition, the manual process described is very time-consuming and therefore also expensive.
This is where the present invention comes in, which is based on the object of providing a method for producing a composite film with electrically controllable light transmission properties which at least partially overcomes the disadvantages of the prior art. In particular, the method according to the invention should be easily reproducible and thus capable of being carried out by machine and enable high geometric accuracy. In addition, the object of the present invention is to provide a composite film produced by the method and to use the method according to the invention to produce a composite pane element.
These and other objects are achieved according to the invention by a method having the features of
According to the present invention, it was recognized that the film production process can be improved in that sacrificial and/or structural layers are already applied in the edge area of the film during production of the functional film. In this way, a template or template for applying the silver paste can be generated. This makes it possible to apply the metallic paste precisely at the geometrically necessary positions in a process that can be carried out by machine and is therefore easily reproducible. In this way, contacting of the functional layer or the functional areas is possible in a reproducible and reliable manner.
- (a) Bereitstellen einer ersten transparenten polymeren Trägerfolie, auf deren einer Seite eine erste elektrisch leitfähige Beschichtung aufgebracht ist;
- (b) Aufbringen einer Abdeckschicht auf die elektrisch leitfähige Beschichtung in einem Randbereich der elektrisch leitfähigen Beschichtung;
- (c) Aufbringen einer Funktionsschicht mindestens auf die elektrisch leitfähige Beschichtung und im Randbereich zumindest teilweise auf die Abdeckschicht unter Erhalt einer Verbundfolienvorstufe;
- (a) providing a first transparent polymeric carrier film having a first electrically conductive coating applied to one side;
- (b) applying a cover layer to the electrically conductive coating in an edge area of the electrically conductive coating;
- (c) application of a functional layer at least to the electrically conductive coating and in the edge region at least partially to the cover layer to obtain a composite film precursor;
- (d) application of a second transparent polymeric carrier film, on one side of which a second electrically conductive coating is applied, to the composite film precursor in such a way that the second electrically conductive coating faces the functional layer.
In addition, the present invention lies in a composite film that has been produced by the method according to the invention, and in the use of a composite film according to the invention for the production of a composite pane element with electrically controllable light transmission properties, in particular area-wise electrically controllable light transmission properties, the composite film in a space between a first Disk element and a second disk element is arranged.
As used herein, the term “edge area” in relation to the composite film means the area of the composite film in which the functional element or the individual functional zones are intended to be contacted. This corresponds to a border area width of about 0.5 cm to 1.5 cm on both sides of the composite film, preferably about 0.75 cm to 1.25 cm on both sides of the composite film.
With regard to the production method according to the invention, it can be advantageous if a template layer is applied between the cover layer and the first electrically conductive coating. If the composite film according to the invention is to have light transmission properties that can be electrically controlled in some areas, the template layer serves as a stencil for applying the conductive paste (usually a silver paste). Conductive paste is only present in the composite film at those points in which the template layer has corresponding recesses. In this context, it is preferred if the template layer has at least one recess extending in a longitudinal direction of the composite film. This ensures that the amount of metallic layer applied is adapted to the size of the functional zones.
In preferred embodiments of the method according to the invention, the method further comprises the step of applying a conductive paste, in particular a silver paste. The conductive paste can be applied during the production of the composite film according to the invention. As an alternative to this, the conductive paste can also be applied only after the second transparent polymer carrier film has been removed. After application, the conductivity paste is dried.
In addition or as an alternative to this, it can be useful if the first electrically conductive coating and/or the functional layer have interruptions extending perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the composite film, so that the functional layer of the composite film is divided into a plurality of functional zones. Both the first electrically conductive coating and the functional layer preferably have interruptions extending perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the composite film. In this way, it is possible to produce a composite film with light transmission properties that can be electrically controlled in certain areas and are geometrically exactly reproducible. It is particularly helpful if the template layer has a web element in the area of the interruptions, so that the recess in the template layer is divided into a plurality of sections, so that each functional zone of the functional layer is assigned a section of the template layer.
In addition, it can be advantageous for the second transparent polymeric carrier film to have a predetermined breaking point in the edge region, which extends in the longitudinal direction of the composite film. This simplifies the removal of the second transparent polymer carrier film in the edge area and enables an exact geometry. The predetermined breaking point can be formed, for example, as a perforation extending in the longitudinal direction of the composite film.
It can also prove to be advantageous if, after the functional layer has been applied, the covering layer is removed and contact elements are applied to the first electrically conductive coating. This can particularly preferably be done in sections.
With regard to the use according to the invention of a composite film for the production of a composite pane element, it can be useful if the production of the composite pane element includes the steps of removing the second transparent polymeric carrier film with the second electrically conductive coating in the edge region, in particular along the predetermined breaking point, and the cover layer with exposing the template layer and introducing at least one contact element into the recess of the template layer. In this context, it has proven to be particularly advantageous if the production of the composite pane element also includes the step of removing the template layer.
The composite pane element produced by the use according to the invention is preferably used in a window, in particular in a plastic window. As used herein, the term "window" preferably refers to a plastic window. However, metal windows, wooden windows and composite windows also come into consideration. If it is a plastic window, the main material of the frame profiles of the window according to the invention is polyvinyl chloride (PVC), in particular hard PVC (PVC-U) or glass fiber reinforced PVC, which can also contain post-chlorinated PVC (PVC-C) and which also has additives such as B. stabilizers, plasticizers, pigments and the like are added, preferred. A window frame can be obtained by welding mitred pieces of the frame profiles.
When used in a window, the composite pane is preferably incorporated into a window frame. In the case of tilt and turn windows and sliding windows, the composite pane element is incorporated into the sash frame. In the closed state of the tilt and turn window, the window sash formed in this way rests on a window frame via seals and is rotatably mounted on the window frame via fittings. In the case of fixed glazing, the compound pane element can be accommodated both in a sash frame and in a blind frame.
The composite pane element according to the invention, the window that encompasses this and individual parts thereof can also be produced line by line or in layers using a line-building or layer-building manufacturing process (e.g. 3D printing), but production by means of extrusion is preferred.
