Description
The invention relates to an electric vehicle with a high-voltage battery (HV battery) as a traction battery with a battery cooling circuit through which a cooling medium flows, according to the preamble of
Bei längeren Standzeiten und niedrigen Umgebungstemperaturen kühlt das Elektrofahrzeug und damit auch seine Hochvolt-Batterie in Richtung Umgebungstemperatur ab.Electric vehicles with an electric drive only with an electric drive or as a hybrid vehicle with an electric drive and an internal combustion engine are generally known. The high-voltage battery used here generates heat during operation, which is dissipated as waste heat in a known manner with a battery cooling circuit through which a cooling medium flows. If the vehicle is parked for a long time and the ambient temperature is low, the electric vehicle and thus its high-voltage battery cool down towards the ambient temperature.
The disadvantage is that the HV battery is in an unfavorably low temperature window when you start driving in the first few minutes, which leads to a reduction in the battery life and results in a loss of performance and a lower recuperation rate until a suitable higher operating temperature is reached. The HV battery is heated to a suitable operating temperature range in a manner known per se while driving by the waste heat from the HV battery.
The object of the invention is to develop a generic electric vehicle with a high-voltage battery (HV battery) as a traction battery with a battery cooling circuit through which a cooling medium flows so that an optimized preheating process can be carried out with a cold high-voltage battery (HV battery).
This object is achieved with the features of
According to
A controllable activation device is arranged on the latent heat accumulator, with which, at a latent heat accumulator temperature below the phase change temperature, the latent heat accumulator can be activated in a controlled manner to a phase change for a heat transfer to the cooling medium at a predetermined activation time.
The arrangement of the latent heat accumulator in the battery cooling circuit advantageously results in constructive free spaces where the latent heat accumulator is to be suitably positioned in the vehicle. For this purpose, existing free spaces in the vehicle can be used with good accessibility, if necessary. The heat transfer between the latent heat storage and the HV battery takes place indirectly and bidirectionally via the cooling medium, which creates free space for optimal temperature control, for example by varying the cooling medium throughput in the battery cooling circuit.
The phase change material can be accommodated in a simple arrangement in a thermally conductive container which is arranged in the battery cooling circuit in the function of a heat exchanger and is at least partially surrounded by the cooling medium. Other conventional heat exchanger arrangements known per se are also possible in principle.
An essential aspect is the determination of the activation point in time for the activation of the (regenerated) latent heat storage for a heat emission and thus for the start of a preheating process. The activation time can be selected depending on the circumstances during or before the vehicle is started, in particular when the ambient temperature is measured. For this purpose, devices and measures known per se can be used, such as, for example, a presettable timer or a remote control unit, which can be used with Can be actuated by a driver outside the vehicle as required. An automatically functioning remote control is also possible, which triggers a heating process when a driver approaches his vehicle.
In principle, all materials with a phase change temperature suitable for the respective circumstances can be used as phase change materials. Salt hydrates are particularly suitable for this purpose. Sodium acetate trihydrate with a phase change temperature of 58 ° C can be used as a particularly preferred phase change material, at which heat is absorbed with a phase transition solid / liquid above 58 ° C, which is latently stored in the liquid / supercooled melt after cooling. The crystallization can then be triggered with an activation pulse, which releases the stored heat again. Sodium acetate trihydrate is particularly suitable here due to its property that the supersaturated solution or supercooled melt is stable down to approx. -20 ° C. Depending on the circumstances, sodium sulfide with a phase change temperature of 47 ° C. and / or sodium thiosulfate with a phase change temperature of 48 ° C. can also be used as phase change material, especially if relatively low phase change temperatures are more suitable. As a cooling medium in the battery cooling circuit, water is used in a manner known per se, optionally with an additive of freezing agent.
In a specific embodiment of the battery cooling circuit, a cooling medium pump is arranged in a flow line after the high-voltage battery and further downstream the at least one latent heat storage device and a cooler for the cooling medium, which is connected to the high-voltage battery by a return line. The flow of the cooling medium in the battery cooling circuit can be controlled with a shut-off valve and a bypass valve in such a way that the circuit can be shut off in a controlled manner by the cooler with the shut-off valve. This control is particularly advantageous during the heating process, in which the latent heat storage device gives off its heat, which is thus supplied to the high-voltage battery via the cooling medium and is not given off externally via the cooler. At the same time, the bypass valve is used to switch to a smaller preheating circuit. Another control option results from controlling the cooling medium pump by changing and adapting the cooling medium conveyed.
In a further specification, a control unit generates a control pulse for mechanical and / or electrical activation of the at least one latent heat storage device by the activation device for heat emission at the time of activation. In addition, the cooling medium pump is to be switched on and, if necessary, a preheating circuit is to be switched on at least until the at least one latent heat storage device has been completely regenerated after its emptying by the then operational waste heat of the HV battery. Only then should the normal operational cooling circuit with the cooler be switched again with the bypass valve closed.
It is known that HV battery cells, in particular lithium-ion cells, are temperature-sensitive and can be used without damage up to a subcooling range with low temperatures of approx. -20 ° C. In order to avoid or at least reduce cell damage here, it is proposed that at measured cell temperatures and / or ambient temperatures in or below the subcooling range of approx Activate heat emission. Cell damage can thus at least be delayed if necessary.
In addition, with controlled heat absorption in the latent heat accumulator, exceeding an upper temperature limit can optionally be prevented or at least delayed, which makes it possible to demand a higher peak power or a continuous power longer from the HV battery than without a latent heat accumulator.
In a further advantageous embodiment, an additional, controllable heat source is arranged as an auxiliary heater in the battery cooling circuit with the following control: if the temperature of the cooling medium and / or the phase change material is measured only slightly below the phase change temperature, the additional heat source for emitting heat is used to increase the temperature the phase change temperature is controlled for a limited time. The phase change material then absorbs heat above the phase change temperature for advantageous chemical stabilization of the phase change material and latent heat storage.
An electric auxiliary heater known per se and / or, if appropriate, a heat pump, such as is already known, for example, for a vehicle interior heater, can be used as the auxiliary heater.
The invention is explained in more detail with the aid of a drawing.

In a further embodiment, the battery cooling circuit can also be routed via a charger, if necessary via a heat exchanger, to cool the charger. It is known that at high charging capacities, the charging cables, in particular outside the vehicle, are sometimes actively cooled in order to dissipate the large amount of waste heat that arises; Even with a charger (on-board charger) arranged in the vehicle, a large amount of heat loss may arise, which can also advantageously be used by integrating the charger cooling into the battery cooling circuit with the latent heat accumulator.
