Abstract
Commercially available sound absorbers turn their mostly thin sound-absorbing layers towards the room as openly as possible. In communication rooms, early reflections that are helpful for understanding speech are lost at higher frequencies, while harmful room resonances boom loudly at lower frequencies. The new sound absorber, on the other hand, turns only reverberant surfaces into the room and absorbs the entire relevant frequency range of speech with a larger compact volume. The absorber creates several large, sound-permeable (hatched) surfaces that only face the ceiling or walls, preferring those for speech communication In contrast to previously known, similarly compact edge absorbers fixed directly to the ceiling and walls, the new absorber can be easily and quickly, preferably in Distance to the upper edges of the room, assemble and, if necessary, remove and relocate without the need for acoustic expertise or manual skills.

Hintergrundbackground
A wide range of sound-absorbing components is offered on the supplier market for sophisticated communication rooms (see Fuchs H.V .: Room acoustics and noise reduction. Springer, Berlin 2017). In principle, this means that practically all sound-technical requirements with regard to acoustic comfort ('audibility') and ergonomic necessity ('sound insulation') can be met for every type of use. The majority of the classrooms and conference rooms are still inadequately equipped in terms of room acoustics. If sound absorption is introduced at all, it is mostly limited to medium and high frequencies, which are actually essential for speech intelligibility. On the other hand, there is largely a lack of bass absorption to dampen the natural resonances of the room, which are detrimental to speech understanding. Even high-priced restaurants and shops often lack any acoustic conditioning. In such acoustic torture chambers, the 'room modes' can roar unhindered. If the intelligibility is poor as a result, the voices involuntarily swell, so that it is often difficult to understand the person who is next in conversation. The one-off costs for an appropriate room acoustic conditioning and upgrading of a property according to the invention are hardly significant at less than 2% of their market value compared to their rental value and their permanent operating and usage costs. Their attractiveness as well as the productivity and comfort of their users suffer measurably from poor acoustics.
- - Architects and hygienists prefer hard, smooth, closed, easy-to-clean materials and have a deep aversion to soft, fibrous or even porous surfaces.
- - Unlike in the education sector, the operators of restaurants can hardly afford to close their operations for days of installation work, for example during the holidays.
- - The majority of the service centers only work in rented rooms. If your operators still invest in acoustic measures, they want to be able to simply take them with them when they move, such as furniture, works of art, posters and other items of equipment.
- - the room only turns to reverberant, smooth and washable surfaces,
- - completely prefabricated, almost overnight, can be hung from the ceiling without further expertise or attached at a distance from a wall and detachable at any time,
- - Is completely enclosed by robust, preferably metallic surfaces on a stable frame and can be removed again at any time, even by lay hands, provided with decoration, cleaned, transported and re-attached elsewhere as required.

Schallabsorber flächig unmittelbar an Decke, Boden und Wänden eines RaumesFlat sound absorbers directly on the ceiling, floor and walls of a room
Open-pored plaster, textiles, fibrous coatings and wooden cladding on ceilings and walls as well as carpets and curtains have always been ascribed a certain sound-absorbing effect at medium and high frequencies. However, these acoustically soft materials have largely gone out of fashion in favor of reverberant building materials such as concrete, stone and glass on all room boundaries.
Eigenständige Schallabsorber im RaumIndependent sound absorbers in the room

The drywall construction on site along one or more room edges, either directly on the ceiling or on the walls, adjoins some of the aforementioned in acoustically, visually, haptically and hygienically demanding rooms such as conference, kitchen, clean and dining rooms Obstacles. The component according to the invention can, depending on the design of its geometric and material parameters, exceed the acoustic effectiveness of the absorber elements previously described according to the prior art. In addition, it is specially qualified for the special requirements in communication rooms such as restaurants and operating theaters: On the one hand, all of its preferably metallic, especially steel side surfaces facing the room are soundproof, smooth and closed. On the other hand, the sound waves from the room can penetrate through the large sound-permeable surfaces facing the ceiling and at least one wall into the absorption material arranged behind, and be 'swallowed' there at the medium and low frequencies that are particularly to be dampened .
- a) Airborne sound waves hitting directly from the room stimulate numerous coupled vibrations in the side surfaces, which are preferably made of smooth sheet metal.
- b) Sound waves reflected from the ceiling and walls and bent around the smooth sheet metal excite standing waves in three directions within the hollow body.
- c) Fibrous or porous material encased tightly and abrasion-resistant on all sides, in its close bond with this according to the VPR and
BKA 2 and3rd Somewhat similar, it ensures particularly broad-band absorption of all resonances in the entire relevant frequency range (63 to 4000 Hz), which is acoustically superior to the VPR.

12th BAT test objects measuring 60 x 30 x 30 cm are measured at a constant distance of 20 cm from the floor of the reverberation room, raised at a distance of 20 cm along the walls of the reverberation room at approximately constant distances from one another, the result is a maximum of Aeq> 12sqm 125 Hz, which does not drop below 4 square meters up to 63 Hz for the lows and 4000 Hz for the highs. The total area projected onto the floor is only 2.2 square meters! In this design example, a comparison can be made with conventional mineral fiber absorbers suspended from the ceiling: In11 the Aeq of the BAT that can be achieved in the reverberation room is compared with that of commercially available absorber baffles with a thickness of 50 mm at a distance of 0.5 to 1 m parallel to one another, as recommended in Figure 4 c) of DIN 18041-2016 if one relates Aeq to the total sonicated surfaces of all elements. The edge effect below 1000 Hz is not only clear in the standard reverberation room, but also in the first sample rooms, as already described by Fuchs, HV; Alexander, B .; Weinzierl, S .: Broadband sound absorber for rooms with special acoustic requirements. Bauphysik 42 (2020), no. 4, pp. 173-183 can be described in figures and figures.
