Description
The invention relates to fuel injection in the internal combustion engine, preferably diesel fuel or similar fuel, with combustion being more homogeneous and pollutant emissions being reduced.
Stand der TechnikState of the art
In the last few decades, innovations in fuel injection technology have mainly taken place in connection with increasing the injection pressure and the design of the nozzle. The aim of these measures is to break up the fuel droplets emerging from the nozzle, to generate smaller droplets by having an energetic effect; due to the high relative speeds between the particles and the gas, the frictional energy causes the particles to disintegrate. Significant achievements have been made from the design side. A further increase in the injection pressure in order to increase the relative speed of the incoming spray jet to the gas in the combustion chamber with the advantage that the fuel is distributed more finely and thus advantageous properties during combustion such as reducing soot formation can not be continued /
For series diesel engines, the current standard is 2000 to 2500 bar; in racing engines up to about 3000 bar.
Like all fluids, diesel fuel and similar fuels are amorphous and their viscosity depends on pressure and temperature. Example: At 50 °C and with an increase in pressure from normal pressure to 2500 bar, naphthenic oil changes its viscosity by a factor of approx. 300. The change in viscosity with the pressure is exponential; as the hydrostatic pressure increases, it becomes increasingly difficult to pump the fuel, in the example diesel. With increasing temperature, the viscosity decreases and the free volume increases. For example, in the range from 20 °C to 80 °C, the viscosity of various Mobil Oils decreases by a factor of 10 to approx. 13 /K. Witt, "The calculation of physical and thermodynamic parameters of pressure fluids, as well as the determination of the overall efficiency of pumps, taking into account the thermodynamics for the pressure fluid", dissertation, Eindhoven University of Technology 1974, pages 20 and 40/. Under these conditions, it is not possible to compensate for the influence of pressure during injection by increasing the temperature.

The aforementioned methods and devices for improving the combustion by acting on the fuel droplets are expensive in terms of design and/or energy. Furthermore, important target functions are only partially fulfilled. At high injection pressures, the energy expenditure is sometimes so high that no advantages arise from it.
Ziel der Erfindungaim of the invention
The solution according to the invention is based on the object of conducting the combustion of fuel, preferably diesel or similar fuel, in such a way that the formation of soot is significantly reduced, preferably brought to zero, the formation of NO x is considerably reduced, the efficiency is increased through better combustion and with the improved combustion, the engine speed and thus the output can be increased.
Erfindungsgemäße LösungSolution according to the invention
According to the invention, the object is achieved in that the injection of the fuel, the first injection, the pre-injection takes place in a vacuum. The vacuum consists of air and/or exhaust gas, the composition of these two components being controlled or regulated as a function of the injected fuel quantity. A low λ value of less than 2 is preferably used, advantageously a λ value of 0.8 to 1.2.
The pre-injection can take place either directly in the vacuum of the space, which consists of displacement space and partially compression space, hereinafter also referred to as vacuum space, or alternatively in a space that is upstream of the intake area of the working cylinder. In the first case, the piston movement is used to create the vacuum; in the alternative method, other methods of vacuum creation can also be used. In this case, the vacuum is generated outside of the working cylinder in such a way that a device, for example a piston-cylinder system, is arranged in front of the inlet valve of the working cylinder and in which the vacuum is generated and the pre-injection also takes place. The fuel-gas mixture that is generated is then fed to the working cylinder via the inlet valve.
The vacuum to be set is a rough vacuum and will usually be in the range of 0.5 to 0.1 of the initial pressure. The vacuum is controlled or regulated in order to adapt it to the respective fuel, for example and in a simple manner via the angle of rotation of the crankshaft and thus via the piston stroke. It is advantageous to preheat the fuel before injection, generally below 100°C, preferably to 70°C to 80°C. The injection into the vacuum causes the fuel to evaporate quickly, which then results in spontaneous and even combustion due to the compression of the fuel-gas mixture and the delay time is usually reduced compared to the classic diesel process. After the pre-injection, the main injection preferably takes place in the flame front of the pre-injection; the main injection can consist of one or more injection processes. The multiple injection achieves a homogenization of the combustion. Under certain circumstances, a post-injection can also take place.
The movement of the piston adjusts the supply of fresh air and exhaust gas, the λ ratio, by means of valves and/or flaps and/or similar structural elements.
The aforementioned measures can also be implemented to the same extent at higher pressures of fresh air and exhaust gas than at ambient pressure. The vacuum is formed after the power stroke and the subsequent ejection of the combusted fuel/exhaust gas mixture, with the outlet valve of the working cylinder being open and the inlet valve being closed. When the piston reaches top dead center, the exhaust valve closes. Due to the fact that when the combusted fuel/exhaust gas mixture is ejected, the pressure is always the ambient pressure of the engine due to the open outlet valve, the vacuum is generated under these initial conditions. Then, as an advantageous measure, the air and exhaust gas can be supplied at higher pressures than at ambient pressure. In this way, supercharging of the engine is implemented in an advantageous manner.
Combustion is advantageously influenced by the measures listed, both with regard to temperature and temperature distribution. As a result, the formation of soot and NO x is reduced, the efficiency is improved and the maximum speed is increased due to the shorter combustion times compared to the classic diesel process.

In function of the engine, after ejecting the burnt fuel with the exhaust gases the inlet valve and the outlet valve closed. The downward movement of the piston creates a vacuum in the space consisting of compression space 3 and, depending on the piston position, parts of displacement space 4, the vacuum space. At a given level of vacuum, the fuel is injected, the pre-injection. The injected fuel evaporates in the vacuum and forms a largely homogeneous distribution in the vacuum space. Compared to the evaporation of the fuel droplets under normal pressure, evaporation in a vacuum is significantly better. Depending on the position of the piston and thus the set vacuum, the

In an alternative mode of operation, the supply of air and/or exhaust gas to the upstream evaporation cylinder can also take place partially. After the fuel/gas mixture has been transferred from the evaporation cylinder 8 to the working cylinder 1, the air/exhaust gas ratio, the λ ratio, is set in a defined manner by the supply of air and/or exhaust gas in the working cylinder. For example, it can be advantageous that exhaust gas is first fed to the fuel-gas mixture after the vacuum in the evaporation cylinder 8 via the
