Description
The invention relates to a battery module and a vehicle with a battery module.
According to the prior art, battery modules have individual cell stacks of galvanic cells, which are arranged in a respective module housing of the battery module. It is customary to screw the module housing to an outer battery housing. A disadvantage of this method is that the cell stack is neither mechanically damped nor thermally insulated from the battery housing. As a result of the screw connection, vibrations of the battery housing are transmitted to the cell stack via the module housing, as a result of which the cell stack and the associated electronics and cooling become fatigued in terms of materials over the running time. Due to the direct screwing of the module housing to the battery housing, the cell stack is thermally connected to the battery housing. This increases the thermal inertia of the cell stack and thermally couples the cell stack to the surroundings of the battery housing. This makes it difficult to regulate the temperature of the cells and reduces the efficiency of the cells.

It is an object of the invention to provide a device which dampens the transmission of vibrations to a cell stack of a battery module.
The invention relates to a battery module which has a cell stack arranged in a module housing of the battery module and a bedding device. In other words, the battery module has a cell stack that is located within the module housing of the battery module. The cell stack and the housing walls of the module housing are spatially separated by the bedding device arranged between the cell stack and the module housing. The bedding device is thus arranged such that the cell stack and the module housing do not touch. The module housing is set up to exert a compressive pressure on the arrangement consisting of the cell stack and the bedding device by mechanically prestressing the housing walls of the module housing. In other words, the module housing has mechanically prestressed housing walls, which result in pressure being exerted on the cell stack and the bedding device by the module housing, which pressure acts on the cell stack in an interior of the module housing.
The advantage of the invention is that the cell stack is firmly mounted due to the compressive pressure exerted by the module housing and is protected against vibrations of the module housing due to the bedding device.
For example, it can be provided that the battery module is provided for use in an electrically operated motor vehicle. To store the energy, the battery module can comprise several galvanic tents, which are arranged, for example, as so-called pouch cells in a cell stack. In order to reduce wear of the cells during operation due to material movement, it can be provided to arrange them in a module housing. The module housing can consist, for example, of an aluminum alloy, a steel or a fiber composite. It can be provided that the module housing is arranged in an outer battery housing together with other battery modules. Due to the arrangement in the outer battery housing, mechanical vibrations of the motor vehicle can be transmitted to the module housing via the outer battery housing. In order to weaken further transmission of the mechanical vibration to the cell stack, the battery module can have the bedding device, which can be arranged between the cell stack and the module housing. The bedding device can consist, for example, of a plastic or felt and completely or partially enclose the cell stack. The bedding device can consist of a material which absorbs mechanical energy. Due to the absorption, the cell stack is stored in a damped manner in the module housing. Vibrations are therefore only transmitted to the cell stack to a lesser extent. It can be provided, for example, that the housing walls are cladding plates made of steel or an aluminum alloy that have been formed in a press so that they have a curvature with a predetermined radius in an unstressed state before being arranged in the housing module. A corrosion protection layer can be applied to the housing walls by means of electrophoretic deposition. The housing walls can be made from consist of a fiber composite material and be enclosed by an aluminum foil in order to shield the housing electromagnetically. To manufacture the housing module, it can be provided that the housing walls are pressed around the cell stack, as a result of which the radius of curvature increases. Due to the improvement, the housing walls are preloaded. The prestressed state can be preserved by means of a fastening.
The invention also includes further developments which result in further advantages.
A further development of the invention provides that the at least two mechanically prestressed housing walls each have a U-shaped profile with a web and two flanges in the tensioned state. In other words, the housing walls have a U-profile in the pressed state. The profile has the respective flange at two opposite ends. The further development has the advantage that the prestressed housing walls can be locked on the flanges. For example, it can be provided that the web has an elongated rectangular surface with dimensions of 0.15 m to 0.35 m in width and 0.5 m to 1.5 m in length. The housing wall can have a thickness of 1 mm to 3 mm. The respective flanges can be arranged as walls along two opposite longitudinal edges of the surface. The flanges can form an angle of 90 ° with the surface. In the unpressed state, the rectangular surface of the web can be curved with a radius in the profile. The radius can be introduced by means of forming a sheet by means of a press. The sheet can also be bent by means of the press in order to prepare the web and the flanges. When pressed, the rectangular surface of the web can be flat. A U-profile, for example, is to be understood as a U-standard profile as it is defined for U-steel normal profiles. An exemplary standard in this context is EN 10279.
A further development of the invention provides that a respective flange of one of the at least two mechanically prestressed housing walls rests on a connecting surface of a respective flange of another of the at least two mechanically prestressed housing walls. In other words, the at least two mechanically prestressed housing walls are arranged in the pressed state such that a respective flange of one of the prestressed housing walls is arranged on a connecting surface of a flange of another of the at least two prestressed housing walls. This has the advantage that the at least two preloaded housing walls can be mechanically fastened to one another at their flanges. For example, it can be provided that two prestressed housing walls have a U-profile in the pressed state. The two housing walls can be arranged mirrored to one another. A web of one of the prestressed housing walls can be shorter than the web of the opposite of the prestressed housing walls. The profiles can interlock so that their flanges are parallel and opposite to each other. The flanges can each have through holes in order to screw the housing walls together.
A further development of the invention provides that the module housing has at least two side plates, the respective side plate being arranged parallel to a respective connecting surface of two prestressed housing walls between the bedding device and the housing walls. In other words, a respective side plate is aligned parallel to a respective connection surface. The respective side plate is arranged in the module housing so that it is located between the bedding device and one of the flanges of the prestressed housing walls. The further development has the advantage that the flanges can be screwed into the side plate. For example, it can be provided that the side plates consist of extruded steel. One side of a respective side plate can be aligned opposite and parallel to connecting surfaces of two prestressed housing walls. A respective side plate can have through holes or threads, for example, in order to enable the respective flanges to be screwed to the side plate.
A further development of the invention provides that the at least two side plates are extruded profiles. In other words, the at least two side plates are manufactured by means of an extrusion process. The further development has the advantage that the side plates are easy to shape. For example, it can be provided that the side plates consist of extruded steel.
A further development of the invention provides that the module housing has at least two retaining clips, a respective retaining clip mechanically connecting two of the housing walls to one another in pairs. In other words, the module housing has the at least two retaining clips. A respective retaining clip is provided to establish a mechanical connection between two of the prestressed housing walls. The development results in the advantage that the prestressed housing walls are mechanically connected to one another by additional elements that can be removed for maintenance purposes. This is a reversible opening of the Module housing enables. For example, it can be provided that the retaining clips are made of steel. The retaining clips can be hooked or screwed into openings in the prestressed housing walls. It can be provided, for example, during production that the prestressed housing walls are spatially arranged against one another during the crime. In a close range, the prestressed housing walls can have openings into which the retaining clips can be inserted in the missed state. The retaining clips can have a through-hole in a region of the surface, which makes it possible to screw the retaining clips in a respective side plate.
A further development of the invention provides that the module housing has two end plates which mechanically connect the housing walls to one another at two opposite longitudinal ends. In other words, two end plates are arranged on the longitudinal ends of the module housing. A respective end plate is mechanically connected to two of the prestressed housing walls. The further development has the advantage that the prestressed housing walls are held together at the longitudinal ends of the module housing. It can be provided, for example, that the end plates are arranged on the longitudinal ends during the pressing of the housing walls and hooked or glued to the housing walls, for example by screwing.
A further development of the invention provides that the bedding device has a foam material. In other words, the bedding device has a large material. The further development has the advantage that the bedding device consists of a material with thermally insulating and at the same time mechanically damping properties. For example, it can be provided that the bedding device has a foamed polymer.
A further development of the invention provides that the bedding device has silicone. In other words, the bedding device is made of or has silicone. The further development has the advantage that the cell stack can be encased in a watertight manner by the silicone and is thus protected from the ingress or condensation of moisture from the environment.

A further development of the invention provides that the battery module has at least two sealing layers. The bedding device is watertightly enclosed by the prestressed housing walls and the at least two sealing layers. In other words, a shell is formed by the sealing layers and the housing walls, which encloses the sealing layer in a watertight manner. This has the advantage that the cell stack can be protected against moisture, even if the bedding device itself is not watertight. It can be provided, for example, that the bedding device is enclosed in cross section on two opposite sides by the housing walls and on two further opposite surfaces by the sealing layers. The bedding device can be enclosed by the end plates on two further opposite surfaces.

The cell modules are usually screwed rigidly to the housing in a battery housing for BEVs. As a result, all vibrations are transmitted from the outer battery housing to the cell and the surrounding electronics and cooling. This often leads to fatigue problems over the term. Furthermore, the rigid connection to the outer housing ensures a thermal coupling with the outer housing, which significantly increases the thermal inertia and also enables thermal coupling with the surroundings. This significantly lowers the efficiency and controllability of the temperature control.

Des Weiteren kommt der hier vorgestellte Aufbau ohne nichtlösbare Verbindungen aus, wodurch eine einfache Wartungs- und Recyclingfähigkeit gewährleistet istThe biaxial bracing keeps the cell module with electronics and cooling in place in all cases, but keeps vibrations from these components. In addition, through a suitable choice of material for the bedding layer, thermal decoupling from the outer housing also takes place, which results in a lower thermal inertia and a decoupling from the surroundings. The battery housing presented enables a uniform, damping bedding of the cell module with cooling in a small footprint and high structural rigidity while maintaining a rectangular cross-section. Furthermore, the structure presented here does not require non-detachable connections, which ensures easy maintenance and recycling
Overall, the examples show how the invention can minimize transmission of vibrations to a cell stack of a battery module.
