Description
The invention relates to a tool and a method for additive manufacturing of components.
Additive manufacturing methods for additive manufacturing or for the additive manufacturing of components are already well known from the general prior art. The respective additive manufacturing process is, for example, a so-called material extrusion process which uses at least or exactly one so-called filament to additively produce a component from the filament. Such a material extrusion process is, for example, a filament 3D printing, which is also referred to as FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) or FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication). The filament is a fiber or thread element, that is, a fiber or thread-like structure. In particular, the filament can be a single thread or a single fiber. Typically, the filament is first produced in a manufacturing process and then fed to the device, in particular in the form of an extruder, when the filament is in the completely, in the completely manufactured state.
The filament fed to the extruder in the completely produced state of the filament is processed by means of the extruder, in particular as part of an extrusion process which is carried out by means of the extruder. Thus, conventionally, the filaments have to be made from commercially available plastic granules or those specially developed for the extrusion process. This alone leads to high costs of the respective filament and to a limitation of the choice of material. A wide range of materials, as is known from injection molding, is of great advantage, especially when special properties are desired or when, for example, components that were previously conventionally manufactured, for example, components manufactured by injection molding, are now to be manufactured additively and replaced by components manufactured by additive manufacturing.
The object of the present invention is therefore to create a tool and a method so that components can be manufactured additively in a particularly cost-effective manner.
This object is achieved according to the invention by a tool with the features of patent claim 1 and by a method with the features of patent claim 13. Advantageous refinements with expedient developments of the invention are specified in the remaining claims.
A first aspect of the invention relates to a tool for additive manufacturing, that is to say for the additive manufacturing of components. The tool according to the invention is thus used to additively produce at least one component. In other words, at least one additive manufacturing process is carried out by means of the tool according to the invention in order to additively manufacture at least one component by means of the additive process and thus with the aid of the tool.
The tool has a housing which has or delimits a receiving space. At least one material can be introduced into the receiving space via at least one feed opening of the housing. This means that the housing has at least one feed opening, through which the material can be guided and can thus be introduced or introduced into the receiving space. The tool also includes a first screw conveyor, which is arranged in the receiving space and can be rotated relative to the housing about a first axis of rotation, by means of which the material, in particular in the granular state of the material and thus as granular material, can be conveyed in the axial direction of the first screw conveyor. The first screw conveyor is therefore an axial screw conveyor, which is also referred to as an axial screw conveyor. By rotating the first screw conveyor about the first axis of rotation relative to the housing, the material, in particular in the granular state and thus as granular material, can be conveyed and thus moved in the axial direction of the first screw conveyor, in particular relative to the housing.
The tool also includes a second screw conveyor, which is arranged in the receiving space and thus in the housing and can be rotated relative to the housing about a second axis of rotation, by means of which the material, in particular in the at least partially melted state of the material, at least in the radial direction of the second screw conveyor an outlet opening of the housing and can be conveyed through the outlet opening. This means, for example, that the housing has at least one outlet opening, the material being able to be conveyed towards the outlet opening and through the outlet opening by means of the second screw conveyor. The second screw conveyor is a radial screw, which is also referred to as a radial screw or radial screw conveyor or radial screw conveyor. For the additive manufacturing of the respective component, the material, in particular in at least partially, in particular at least predominantly or completely, in the melted state, can be brought out of the tool and applied to a platform, also referred to as a construction platform, via the outlet opening. The The tool according to the invention enables an extrusion process to be carried out, within the scope of which the tool according to the invention functions or can function as an extruder. The material can be extruded by means of the extruder and thereby applied to the platform, in particular via the outlet opening. It is thus possible to use the tool according to the invention to avoid a separate production of a filament that precedes the extrusion process. In other words, it is not necessary and not intended to first produce a filament and then to feed the filament in its completely manufactured state to the tool according to the invention, but the material formed, for example, from at least or exactly one plastic can, in particular as granular material, via the feed opening introduced into the housing or into the receiving space and then processed and in particular extruded by means of the tool according to the invention. As a result, a time-consuming and costly manufacturing process for producing filaments can be avoided, so that the respective component can be produced in a time-saving and cost-effective manner, in particular by 3D printing, using the tool according to the invention.
A further finding on which the invention is based is that tools which have only an axial screw conveyor, but no radial screw conveyor, can have a high space requirement and a high weight. This can lead to problems in an overall system for additive manufacturing. In terms of space, it often makes more sense to move the tool or the extruder relative to the platform while the platform remains stationary in order to manufacture the component. However, if, on the other hand, the platform is moved relative to the tool, for example, while the tool remains stationary in order to manufacture the respective component, at least as much space must always be taken into account as with a method in which the tool is moved relative to the platform, while the platform is stationary, thereby producing the component. Moving conventional tools, however, may be disadvantageous or not possible due to the high installation space requirement and the high weight described above. Since the tool according to the invention has a combination of the first screw conveyor and thus of the axial screw conveyor and the second screw conveyor and thus of the radial screw conveyor, the space requirement and the weight of the tool according to the invention can be kept in a particularly small frame. As a result, the tool can be moved relative to the platform in a simple manner to produce the respective component, while, for example, the platform remains or is stationary.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the axes of rotation coincide. As a result, the installation space requirement and the weight can be kept in a particularly small frame, and the respective component can be produced in a time and cost-effective manner using the tool according to the invention.
It has also proven to be particularly advantageous if the screw conveyors are connected to one another in a rotationally fixed manner. As a result, the screw conveyors rotate, for example when the tool is operated at the same speed, relative to the housing. As a result, for example, the screw conveyors can be driven by means of a single drive common to the screw conveyors and can thus be rotated relative to the housing, so that the space requirement and the weight of the tool can be kept in a particularly small frame.
Another embodiment is characterized in that the screw conveyors are formed in one piece with one another. As a result, the number of parts and thus the weight and costs can be kept particularly low.
In a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the second screw conveyor follows the first screw conveyor in the axial direction of the first screw conveyor. This means that the second screw conveyor is arranged after or already from the first screw conveyor in the conveying or moving direction of the material moving through the tool or conveyed through the tool. The material is thus conveyed, in particular in the granular state and thus as granular material, for example initially by means of the first screw conveyor, whereupon the material, in particular in the at least partially melted state, is conveyed by means of the second screw conveyor.
It has also proven to be particularly advantageous if the second screw conveyor is designed to convey the material from the outside inwards in the radial direction of the second screw conveyor. As a result, the material can be compressed particularly advantageously by means of the second screw conveyor and / or by means of the second screw conveyor a particularly advantageous pressure of the material can be brought about in a particularly advantageous manner, as a result of which, for example, the material is discharged or removed from the tool in a particularly precise and targeted manner and in the Sequence applied to the platform, in particular printed, can be.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the tool has a heating device, by means of which at least a partial area of the receiving space can be heated, as a result of which the material can be heated in the partial area and thereby at least partially, in particular at least predominantly or completely, can be melted or melted. In particular, the heating device is designed to at least partially melt the material, for example initially solid and thus initially in a solid aggregate state, which, for example, is initially formed as granular material, on its way through the first screw conveyor. As a result, the respective component can be carried out particularly quickly and cost-effectively.
For example, the material in the solid state, in particular as granular material, is fed to the first screw conveyor and at least partially melted on its way through the first screw conveyor, so that the material leaves the first screw conveyor in the at least partially melted state, that is to say it emerges from the first screw conveyor. and enters the second screw conveyor. By means of the second screw conveyor, the material is conveyed in the at least partially melted state in the radial direction of the second screw conveyor, in particular from the outside inwards, and is thereby conveyed to the outlet opening and conveyed through the outlet opening. Thus, for example, the material is brought out of the tool in the at least partially molten state via the outlet opening and applied to the platform, so that, for example, the material flows through the outlet opening or is conveyed through the outlet opening in at least partially molten state.
In particular, it is conceivable that the at least partially, in particular through the at least predominant or complete, melting of the material from the material is formed as a melt. This melt emerges from the first screw conveyor and enters the second screw conveyor and is conveyed by means of the second screw conveyor to the outlet opening and through the outlet opening. The melt is then applied to the platform via the outlet opening in order to additively manufacture the respective component from the melt and thus from the material. After the melt has been applied to the platform, the melt can solidify or harden, as a result of which the component is produced, in particular dimensionally stable or inherently rigid.
For example, several layers from the melt are arranged one above the other or one above the other via the outlet opening, so that the component is built up or produced from the layers. The component is thus manufactured, for example, layer by layer.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the second screw conveyor has at least one screw flight for conveying the material, the screw flight of the second screw conveyor facing the wall area of the housing in the axial direction of the second screw conveyor. The heating device has at least one heating element, which is arranged on a side of the wall area facing away from the screw flight of the second screw conveyor in the axial direction of the second screw conveyor, the heating area being able to be used to heat the wall area and, via the wall area, the screw channel of the second screw conveyor. In this way, for example, the at least partially melted material can be warmed or kept warm on its way through the second screw conveyor and can thus be kept in a partially melted state, so that excessive and undesired solidification of the material on its way through the second screw conveyor can be avoided. As a result, the component can be manufactured particularly quickly and cost-effectively.
A further embodiment is characterized in that the first screw conveyor has at least one screw flight for conveying the material, the screw flight of the first screw conveyor facing the wall of the housing in the radial direction of the first screw conveyor. The heating device has at least one heating element, which is arranged on a side of the wall facing away from the screw flight of the first screw conveyor in the radial direction of the first screw conveyor. The wall and, via the wall, the screw flight of the first screw conveyor can be heated by means of the heating element. In this way, for example, the material can be heated on its way through the first screw conveyor and subsequently melted or melted at least partially, in particular at least predominantly or completely, so that the initially solid material passes through the first screw conveyor, in particular through the screw flight, of the material first screw conveyor, the melt described above can be produced. As a result, the installation space requirement of the tool can be kept particularly low, and the respective component can be produced in a time-saving and cost-effective manner.
In order to be able to produce the respective component in a particularly simple and thus time-saving and cost-effective manner, it is provided in a further embodiment of the invention that the tool has a cooling device. The cooling device can be used to cool, in particular actively, a second partial region of the receiving space that precedes the partial region in the axial direction of the first screw conveyor, as a result of which the material can be cooled in the second partial region. In this way, for example, an undesired clumping of the material in the second partial area can be avoided. This is particularly advantageous if the material is fed as granular material to the first screw conveyor and is conveyed by means of the first screw conveyor, in particular before the material is melted.
In order to be able to cool or keep the second partial area and thus the material effectively and efficiently and in a cost-effective manner, it is preferably provided that the cooling device has cooling fins. The cooling fins are arranged on an outside of the housing facing away from the receiving space in the radial direction of the first screw conveyor.
A further embodiment is characterized in that at least one screw flight of the first screw conveyor and / or the second screw conveyor has a variable cross section, in particular a cross section tapering at least in a partial area, the cross section being penetrable or flowable through by the material.
Alternatively or additionally, at least one mixing element for mixing the material is arranged in at least one screw flight of the first screw conveyor and / or the second screw conveyor.
Alternatively or additionally, at least one homogenization element for homogenizing the material is arranged in at least one screw flight of the first screw conveyor and / or the second screw conveyor. The respective screw flight of the first screw conveyor and / or the second screw conveyor or the screw flights of the axial and / or the radial screw can thus be shaped in different ways.
A second aspect of the invention relates to a method for additive manufacturing, that is to say for the additive manufacturing of at least one component using a tool, in particular using a tool according to the invention. This means that the tool according to the invention according to the first aspect of the invention is preferably used in the method in order to additively produce the respective component by means of the tool according to the invention.
In the method, the tool has a housing which has or delimits a receiving space. At least one material can be or is introduced into the receiving space via at least one feed opening of the housing.
In the method, the material is conveyed as granular matter and thus in the solid state, that is to say in the solid aggregate state, by means of a first screw conveyor arranged in the receiving space and rotatable about a first axis of rotation relative to the housing in the axial direction of the first screw conveyor by the first Screw conveyor is rotated about the first axis of rotation relative to the housing. Furthermore, in the method, the material is heated in the receiving space by means of a heating device of the tool and thereby at least partially melted, a melt being formed from the material, for example, by melting the material. In particular, the material is at least partially melted on its way through the first screw conveyor by means of the heating device. Thus, for example, during the process, a first part of the material is in the form of granular matter and thus in a solid state in a first part of the first screw conveyor, and a second part of the material is in an at least partially molten state and thus, for example, as a melt in a second Part of the first screw conveyor, wherein, for example, the second part of the first screw conveyor adjoins the first part of the screw conveyor in the axial direction of the first screw conveyor or in the conveying direction of the material. Thus, for example, the material in the solid state and thus preferably as granular material is fed to the first screw conveyor, in particular to the first part of the screw conveyor. In addition, the material is then removed in the at least partially melted state of the first screw conveyor, in particular the second part of the first screw conveyor, so that, for example, the material is removed from or from the first screw conveyor in at least partially, in particular at least predominantly or completely, molten state.
In the method, the at least partially melted material is conveyed by means of a second screw conveyor arranged in the receiving space and rotatable about a second axis of rotation relative to the housing in the radial direction of the second screw conveyor to at least one outlet opening of the housing and through the outlet opening by the second screw conveyor is rotated relative to the housing about the second axis of rotation. Thus, for example, the Material in the at least partially melted state into the second screw conveyor, and the material leaves the second screw conveyor in at least partially, in particular at least predominantly or completely, melted state, for example, so that the material, for example, in at least partially, in particular at least predominantly or completely, melted state Condition flows through the outlet opening. It is preferably provided that the material is completely melted, that is to say in the completely melted and thus, for example, liquid or pasty state, it emerges from the second screw conveyor and / or in particular from the outlet opening.
Due to the fact that the material is conveyed through the outlet opening and thereby removed or discharged from the tool via the outlet opening, the material is applied to a platform for additive manufacturing of the component. Advantages and advantageous configurations of the first aspect of the invention are to be regarded as advantages and advantageous configurations of the second aspect of the invention and vice versa.
In order to be able to produce the component particularly quickly and cost-effectively, it is provided in one embodiment of the invention that a melt is formed from the material by the at least partial melting of the material, at least the melt using the second screw conveyor in the radial direction of the second Screw conveyor, in particular from the outside inwards, is conveyed to the outlet opening and through the outlet opening, as a result of which the melt is removed from the tool and applied to the platform for additive manufacturing of the component.
Finally, it has proven to be particularly advantageous if, by applying the material to the platform, several layers of the material are arranged one above the other or on top of one another on the platform, so that the component is produced additively from the layers.
