To achieve the object, a method for detecting a road surface texture according to claim 1 is proposed according to the invention. Moreover, the invention relates to a computing unit according to claim 12 and a vehicle according to claim 14.
In the method according to the invention, first a first transmission signal is transmitted by means of a first transmission unit arranged on a vehicle. The first transmission signal is, in particular, a first ultrasonic signal, which is transmitted by a first ultrasonic sensor. Alternatively, it can also be, for example, a first radar signal, which is emitted by a first radar sensor. The radar sensor is in this case designed in particular for the detection of objects in the vicinity. Subsequently, a signal waveform in the form of amplitudes or signal strengths of a first echo signal is received as a function of the emitted at least one transmit signal. In the case of receiving a first signal waveform depending on a transmitted at least one first radar signal as a transmission signal, an adaptation of the received signal waveform to a low frequency range is preferably provided here. In a subsequent method step, a first ground echo signal of the roadway is determined in a first time range of the first echo signal as a function of the received amplitudes or signal strengths of the first echo signal in the first time range. A ground echo signal in this case represents an echo signal, which is produced by backscattering of the emitted first transmission signal on the road surface in the direction of the emitting first transmission unit. The ground echo signal has in this first time range a characteristic signal course, which can come from many echoes with comparatively small amplitudes or signal strengths of, for example, uneven ground. Such ground echoes can be received, for example, in a distance range between 1 and 3 meters to a first ultrasonic sensor as the first transmitting unit. In addition, a first noise level signal is determined in a second time range of the first echo signal following the first time range in terms of time. The noise level signal is determined here as a function of the received amplitudes or signal strengths of the first echo signal in the second time range. In this case, a noise level signal represents, for example, interference signals which, for example, can result from noises in the vicinity of the first ultrasound sensor or first near-range radar sensor as the first transmission unit. In addition, technical noise always occurs. The phenomenon of noise occurs entirely over the received echo signal, but is superimposed in other time domains by, for example, the first bottom echo signal. Only in a time range which is temporally after the first time range, the noise level signal can be determined without interference by other signals. A noise level signal is often characterized by comparatively low amplitudes or signal strengths. In a further method step, the determined first ground echo signal is compared with the determined first noise level signal. In a last method step, the road surface condition is then detected as a function of the comparison of the determined first ground echo signal with the determined first noise level signal. The road surface condition may be, for example, a coefficient of friction of the road surface. Here, the effect is used that flat floor coverings with a low coefficient of friction have few bumps, which can lead more to a specular reflection away from the emitting sensor and less to a backscatter of the emitted first transmission signal to the sensor. But even on wet or damp road surface, the ground echo signal is scattered back weaker than comparatively on dry roads.
Ist die Fahrbahn entsprechend beispielsweise mit einem geschlossenen Wasserfilm oder Glatteis bedeckt, findet wegen der ebenen Oberfläche praktisch keine Rückstreuung des ausgesendeten Sendesignals an der Fahrbahn statt und der Mittelwert des ersten Bodenechosignals und des ersten Rauschpegelsignals nähern sich einander an.Preferably, to determine the first ground echo signal in the first time domain and to determine the noise level signal in the second time domain, average values of the received amplitudes or signal strengths are determined. These averages are defined in consecutive Time windows formed within the first echo signal. Amplitudes or signal strengths are preferably received every 10 μs, and the time windows preferably each have a duration of 6 ms. In particular, the first time range has a total duration of 6 ms to 15 ms. In particular, the second time range has a total duration of 35 ms to 40 ms. These specified time windows or time ranges have proven to be advantageous in practice. However, other time windows or time ranges can also be selected. Depending on the averaged values, a threshold curve is subsequently generated. This threshold curve can also be referred to as an adaptive threshold curve, since it adapts to the signal curve of the received echo signal. Depending on the course of the generated threshold curve, the first ground echo signal is subsequently determined in the first time range of the first echo signal. In addition, the first noise level signal is determined as a function of the curve of the generated threshold curve in the second time range of the first echo signal. By using the averages, the waveform of the echo signal is smoothed and thus allows a more accurate determination of the bottom echo signal and the noise level signal. Preferably, only a single mean value of the received amplitudes or signal strengths of the first echo signal is determined in each case in the first time range and in the second time range. Thus, one obtains a horizontal straight line within the respective time window, which gives a statement about the respective level of the bottom echo signal and the noise level signal relative to this straight line. These levels can be easily compared with each other to detect the road surface texture. Preferably, a wet road surface is recognized as the road surface condition if the single average in the first time range and the single average in the second time range differ by a value smaller than a defined threshold. If the roadway is covered, for example, with a closed film of water or black ice, there is virtually no backscattering of the emitted transmission signal on the roadway due to the flat surface, and the average of the first ground echo signal and the first noise level signal approach one another.
For generating the threshold curve, the determined mean values of the received amplitudes or signal strengths of the first echo signal are preferably multiplied by a constant factor greater than 1. Thus, the threshold curve can also be used for other purposes, e.g. use the object detection. This object signal is preferably determined in a third time range which completely or partially encloses the first and / or second time range or lies outside of both. Such an object echo signal is characterized, for example, by an exceeding of the generated threshold curve, since the amplitudes or signal strengths of an object echo signal become significant are greater than the amplitudes or signal strengths of a bottom echo signal or a noise level signal.
Preferably, the first echo signal is received in a first time measurement window. Such measuring windows are characterized by defined lengths of time, which correspond, for example, to the maximum range of a first ultrasonic sensor as the first transmitting unit. In particular, the measurement window has a duration of 40 ms. This is a time period which has proven to be advantageous in practice and corresponds to the maximum range of an ultrasonic sensor of 7 meters. But it can also be provided a different duration for the measurement window. It is preferably provided that a further first transmission signal is transmitted by means of the first transmission unit. Subsequently, a second echo signal is received as a function of the emitted at least one first transmission signal. This second echo signal is received in a second measuring window following the first measuring window in time. The time length of the first measurement window preferably corresponds to the temporal duration of the second measurement window for better comparability. Depending on the received amplitudes or signal strengths of the second echo signal, a second ground echo signal of the roadway is preferably determined in a fourth time range of the second echo signal. This fourth time range in the second measurement window corresponds with respect to the position within a measurement window to the first time range in the first measurement window. Subsequently, the determined second ground echo signal is compared with the determined first ground echo signal. If, for example, a significant differentiation of the two ground echo signals from one another is ascertained, then on the one hand it is ensured that in the first transmitting unit the functionality is given and no sensor blindness prevails. On the other hand, it can be concluded that a change in the road surface texture.
Preferably, it is further provided that for the detection of the road surface texture additionally at least a second transmission signal is transmitted by means of a second transmission unit arranged on the vehicle. In particular, the second transmitting unit may be a second ultrasonic sensor or a second radar sensor. The second transmission signal is in particular a second ultrasonic signal or a second radar signal. Subsequently, amplitudes or signal strengths of a third echo signal in dependence of the emitted receive at least a second transmission signal. The reception of the amplitudes and signal strengths of the third echo signal in this case takes place exactly as in the first echo signal in the first time measurement window. In a fifth time range of the third echo signal, a third ground echo signal of the roadway is subsequently determined as a function of the received amplitudes or signal strengths of the third echo signal. Subsequently, the determined first ground echo signal is compared with the determined third ground echo signal. By comparing two floor echo signals of adjacent transmitter units, it can be ensured that the functionality of the first transmitter unit is correspondingly given and there is no sensor blindness. If, for example, a first ground echo signal and a third ground echo signal are determined, then it can be assumed that there is no sensor blindness. The following recognition of the road surface condition can thus be made plausible.
Preferably, a temperature outside the vehicle is additionally detected to detect the road surface texture. By taking into account the outside temperature, for example, a distinction between water and ice smoothness on the roadway can be made when recognizing the road surface condition.
Preferably, an environment detection of the vehicle is additionally performed to detect the road surface condition. This environment detection can take place, for example, by means of the first or second transmission unit arranged on the vehicle. Optionally, the environment detection can also be done by other environment sensors arranged on the vehicle. By detecting the environment can be determined, for example, on what the determined road surface texture is due. For example, car parks often have a very even floor covering without pores, which reflects only a low ground echo signal. The environment detection can be performed for example by means of environmental sensors or by means of a navigation unit.

In addition, a computing unit is the subject of the invention.
