Technischer HintergrundTechnical background
Additive manufacturing refers to processes for the rapid and cost-effective production of models, samples, prototypes, tools and other end products. This manufacturing takes place on the basis of computer-internal, in particular three-dimensional, data models of informal or shape-neutral material by means of chemical and / or physical processes. There are usually no special tools needed. Additive manufacturing can be divided into process engineering different layer-building methods, e.g. in powder bed process, free space process and liquid material process. The use of these methods is economically particularly useful in the parallel production of very small components in larger quantities, for unique items, as well as the small series production or one-off production of parts with a high geometric complexity, also with additional functional integration.
If, in one process, an additively manufactured component is to be connected to another component to form a component arrangement, however, the problem arises that it is imperative that additional process steps occur. For example, the two components can be fastened to one another via known adhesive or screw connections. For this, however, further process steps are necessary, by which the process of additive manufacturing is interrupted, suspended, and delayed. This increases the investment costs for expenses in order to realize the additional process steps. Furthermore, time is lost through the additional process steps, so that in the end higher costs and additionally consumed time ensure that the joining of two components, of which at least one is made additive, to a component assembly to an expensive and tedious process can.
In summary, a connection between an additively manufactured component and another component can not currently be carried out efficiently.
Therefore, there may be a need to provide an efficient and robust method for joining an additively manufactured component and another component to a component assembly, which method significantly improves the cost and time efficiency of a manufacturing process.
Zusammenfassung der ErfindungSummary of the invention
This need could be met by means of a method for manufacturing a component assembly by means of additive manufacturing, an apparatus for carrying out the method and a component arrangement according to the independent claims.
Advantageous embodiments of the present invention are described by the dependent claims.
According to a first aspect of the invention, a method is provided for manufacturing a component assembly by means of additive manufacturing. The method comprises: i) additive manufacturing of a first component of a solidifiable material, ii) provision of a second component on the first component such that the first component and the second component are arranged one after the other along a construction direction, and iii) additive manufacturing of at least one closure part of the solidifiable material such that the closure part in the construction direction forms a positive connection between the first component and the second component.
The method described is based on the idea that an additively manufactured component and another component can be connected directly within an additive manufacturing process. Thus, according to the invention, a first component is made additive during a process for additive manufacturing. The second component may be provided to the first component without interrupting the process. Additive finishing is carried out in layers, one layer after the other in a construction direction. In this way, the second component can be arranged subsequently to the first component in the direction of construction. It is now possible that the process of additive manufacturing is not interrupted, but that additive manufacturing can be continued directly (in-line). Thus, a closure part can now be made additive in the construction direction, which allows a positive connection between the first component and the second component. In this way, a component arrangement, which has a positive connection between a first component and a second component, within a process for additive manufacturing can be obtained.
The method described is efficient and robust and thus can significantly improve the efficiency and reliability of a manufacturing process in terms of cost and time. Investment costs and time can therefore be saved.
In other words, the disadvantage of an additional process step is bypassed. In this way, high investment costs for this process step and the additional process time can be saved.
Previous problems, namely that additional costly process steps interrupt the process of additive manufacturing, can be overcome with the described method. A decisive advantage over other methods is that the positive connection of the first component to the second component is integrated directly into the process for additive finished.
According to another aspect of the invention, an apparatus is provided for manufacturing a component assembly. The apparatus comprises: i) a construction space having a construction area, ii) a production head configured for additive manufacturing within the construction space, and solidifying solidifiable material above the construction area, and iii) a control unit configured for Controlling the production head and / or the construction area, so that the method described above is performed.
The device described can carry out the method described above. The device is based on the same idea as the method and can provide the same advantages as the method.
In accordance with another aspect of the invention, a component assembly is provided. The arrangement comprises: i) a first component, which is produced additively from a solidifiable material, ii) a second component, which is provided on the first component such that the first component and the second component are arranged one after the other along a construction direction, and iii) a closure part which is made of the solidifiable material in such an additive manner that the closure part forms a positive connection between the first component and the second component in the construction direction.
The arrangement described can be produced by means of the method described above and / or by means of the device described above. The arrangement is based on the same idea as the method and can provide the same advantages as the method.
In this document, the term "additive manufacturing" may refer in particular to a process in which a component is built up layer by layer on the basis of digital 3D design data by deposition and / or solidification of solidifiable material. It is a production process that differs from conventional, abrasive manufacturing methods. For example, instead of milling a component out of a solid block, additive manufacturing builds components layer by layer of solidifiable material, which is present as a fine powder, for example. In the construction in the construction direction, physical and chemical hardening or melting processes take place.
In this document, the term "component" may refer in particular to a component or a single part of a technical complex. Here, any technical component may be referred to as a component, which together with at least one further component, ie. a second component, can be connected to a component arrangement. Furthermore, a plurality of components can also be connected to form a component arrangement.
In this document, the term "closure part" may in particular denote a component which allows a connection between a first component and a second component. The closure part can also be referred to as the third component and can be manufactured additively. In this way, a positive connection between the two components can be obtained directly within a process for additive manufacturing without interrupting the process. The closure part can be any component which is suitable for obtaining the described positive connection between the two components. The closure part may e.g. be formed as a plate to contact in this way a raised portion which extends through a recess, so that the increase can not solve the recess. Furthermore, the closure member may be formed as a solidifiable filling, which is formed within a bore and is connected there after solidification such that the filling can not be removed from the bore. A plurality of further possibilities is conceivable in order to form the closure part.
In this document, the term "mounting direction" may particularly mean a direction in which a component is built up in layers by means of additive manufacturing. Additive manufacturing can be done by depositing and / or solidifying on the basis of 3D digital design data solidified material layer by layer, the component is constructed. This layered deposition and / or solidification can then take place in the aforementioned construction direction. In other words, several layers of solidifiable material can be deposited one above the other. The layers may in this case be arranged parallel with respect to each other. The construction direction is oriented in this case perpendicular to the parallel aligned layers. An apparatus for additive manufacturing may have a construction space which includes a construction area. Above this construction area, the layers can be arranged parallel to the construction area. If a plane is oriented parallel to the construction surface, then the construction direction may correspond to the direction of the normal vector of this plane.
In this document, the term "solidifiable material" may denote in particular a material which may be used for additive manufacturing. This can e.g. Metal (e.g., aluminum, steel, titanium, copper), plastic (e.g., acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS), polyamide, polylactide (PLA)), synthetic resin, ceramic or a composite. The term solidifiable material may include any material suitable for use in an additive manufacturing process. The material may be in powder form or, for example, as a paste. At the time of application, the material may be in a first state, and at the time of the finished component, the material may be in a second state where the material is less solid in the first state than in the second state. For this purpose, the material may initially be at least partially liquid and cure at a later time and thereby solidify. Furthermore, the material may be powdered and e.g. be solidified by laser energy (sintering). Furthermore, the material can be solidified by means of a binder. A plurality of further possibilities is conceivable, by means of which a solidifiable material can be provided.
In this document, the term "positive connection" may refer in particular to the interlocking of at least two components within a component arrangement. As a result, the components can not be separated from each other without or with interrupted power transmission. In a positive connection thus one component is the other component in the way, with such a block being present in at least one spatial direction. Some examples of positive connections include tongue and groove connection, feather key, zipper and dovetail connection. Furthermore, a wedging can be referred to as a positive connection. Thus, for example, solidifiable material, which is filled in a cylindrical bore, expand somewhat during solidification. In this way, by expanding a crimp, by means of which the solidified material is retained within the bore. As a result, a component, which is attached to the solidified material, can be arranged via a crimp connection as a form-fitting connection to the component which has the bore.
In this document, the term "construction space" may refer in particular to a location within which an additive manufacturing process can be carried out. This can e.g. be the space of a 3D printer. An installation space may have a construction area, which may represent the underside of the installation space. Above the construction area components can be manufactured additively. Here, the components can be placed on the construction area and further processed. Likewise, a component can be completely manufactured on the construction area. The space can have additional functions, for example, the space or the building area can be heated.
In this document, the term "control unit" may refer to any device that is suitable for controlling a plurality of processes. The control unit may include a CPU and be connected to various components to control them. Thus, the control unit can be connected to a production head and these taxes, so that additive manufacturing can be carried out. The production head may hereby be configured to apply and / or solidify a solidifiable material. The production head can have a nozzle or a laser source for this purpose. Furthermore, the control unit can be connected to a material distributor and / or a drive device in order to control them in such a way that it is possible to carry out an additive manufacturing method.
Embodiments of the described method and the described device will now be explained below.
According to one embodiment, the additive manufacturing comprises a 3D printing technique. This has the advantage that the method described can be integrated directly into established and proven processes. There are a variety of 3D printing techniques known and standardized, which may be suitable for the described method. Some examples include: stereolithography, 3D screen printing, laser sintering, melt stratification, multijet modeling and binder jetting. A plurality of further possibilities is conceivable by means of which a 3D printing technique can be realized.
According to a further embodiment, additive manufacturing is involved Powder printing method, wherein the solidifiable material is at least partially powdered. The powder printing method may be particularly well suited in a preferred embodiment for the described method. Namely, the powder can serve as a proppant during the building process. If, for example, two components are to be connected in the longitudinal direction, this support function of the powder can be very suitable for the method described. Also, two components which are connected to each other, but share only a small overlap area with each other, they can be securely connected by means of the support function. This increases the efficiency and robustness of the manufacturing process. Furthermore, the method becomes much more flexible, because a plurality of components with special properties can be easily connected using the support function of the powder.
According to a further embodiment, the powder process is one of the group consisting of: laser-based bed of powder bed process (L-PBF), electron beam powderbed bed process (EB-PBF), selective heat treatment Sintering, SHS, and Binder Jetting. This has the advantage that the method described can be integrated directly into established and proven processes. As a laser, for example, a CO 2 laser, a Nd: YAG laser or a fiber laser can be used. For example, selective laser sintering or selective laser melting can be used. The pulverulent solidifiable material may in this case be, for example, polyamide or another plastic, a metal powder or a ceramic powder. The powder can be applied on a construction surface over the entire surface in a thickness of, for example, 1 .mu.m to 200 .mu.m, in particular 20 .mu.m to 50 .mu.m, in order to obtain a powder bed in this way. The application of a plastic powder can be carried out by means of a roller. For metal powder, a squeegee or coater blade can be used for application. The layer can be sintered or melted step by step into the powder bed by activation by means of a laser beam in accordance with the layer contour of the component. The laser energy that is supplied by the laser can be absorbed by the powder and leads to a locally limited sintering of powder particles while reducing the total surface area. Thereafter, the construction area can be lowered and a new powder layer can be introduced. The processing can therefore be done layer by layer in the vertical direction (construction direction).
According to another embodiment, the method further comprises selectively removing at least a portion of the solidifiable material. This has the advantage that the process can be carried out efficiently and flexibly, since only solidifiable material that is actually required is present. Furthermore, certain structures can also be produced by temporarily introducing material which is not solidified and then removing it instead of solidifying it. In this way, the material which is not solidified, can fulfill a supporting function. For example, using the powder method, a recess within a component can be obtained by not solidifying a part of the solidifiable material. The non-solidified material can be removed at a later time, then the recess is released.
Furthermore, the method further comprises selectively solidifying at least a portion of the solidifiable material. This has the advantage that the method described can be carried out particularly efficiently and flexibly. Thus, for example, by means of laser energy, certain areas of the solidifiable material can be solidified, so as to obtain the component. On the other hand, other areas of the material are not solidified and can be used as proppants until they are removed at a later time.
According to a further embodiment, the selective strengthening further comprises selectively supplying energy, in particular laser energy, to at least a defined area of the solidifiable material. This has the advantage that the described method can be carried out particularly precisely. As already described above, the energy supplied by the laser can be absorbed by the powder and leads to a locally limited sintering of powder particles while reducing the total surface area.
Furthermore, the method further comprises a selective supply of binder, in particular by means of binder jetting, to at least one defined region of the solidifiable material. This has the advantage that the method described can be carried out particularly precisely and with established means. Binder jetting is an additive manufacturing process in which powdered solidifiable material is bonded in selected areas with a binder, such as synthetic resin, so as to additively manufacture a component.
According to another embodiment, a layer thickness is in the range of 20 μm to 50 μm.
According to a further embodiment, the pulverulent solidifiable material is made of metal, in particular aluminum or steel. According to another embodiment, the solidifiable material is plastic. Furthermore, that can solidifiable material synthetic resin, ceramic or a composite material.
According to a further embodiment, the first component and the second component in each case metal, in particular aluminum and / or steel, and / or plastic.
Metall (z.B. Aluminium, Stahl, Titan, Kupfer), Kunststoff (z.B. Acrylnitril-Butadien-Styrol (ABS), Polyamid, Polylactid (PLA)), Kunstharz, Keramik oder ein Verbundwerkstoff aufweisen. The solidifiable material, and thus also the component produced, may e.g. Metal (e.g., aluminum, steel, titanium, copper), plastic (e.g., acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS), polyamide, polylactide (PLA)), synthetic resin, ceramic, or a composite.
These embodiments have the advantage that industrially relevant components can be manufactured and connected efficiently and flexibly. In particular, a positive connection of a component made of steel and a component made of aluminum may be industrially particularly interesting, because such a connection is very difficult to produce, for example, by other techniques such as welding.
According to a further exemplary embodiment, the method comprises, in particular: i) the additive manufacturing of the first component further comprises making at least one elevation section on the first component; ii) the providing further comprises: coupling the elevation section with a recess of the second component, wherein the elevation portion and the recess are configured such that when the second component is provided on the first component, the elevation portion extends through the recess, and iii) the additive manufacturing of the closure portion further comprises: additive manufacturing of the closure portion which in particular acts as a closure surface is formed such that the closure member is connected to the elevation portion to obtain the positive connection. In this case, in particular the extent of the closure part perpendicular to the construction direction is greater than the extent of the elevation section perpendicular to the construction direction. This has the advantage that an interlocking connection between the first component and the second component is obtained in an efficient, flexible and robust manner.
According to a further embodiment, the elevation portion is formed angular and according to another embodiment, the elevation portion is circular. This has the advantage that a particularly stable connection between the components can be obtained. The elevation portion may be any elevation over the first component. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the elevation portion is angular or circular and can be passed through a recess of the second component.
According to a further exemplary embodiment, the method further comprises in particular: i) the additive manufacturing of the first component further comprises: additive manufacturing of the first component such that at least one recess is obtained, ii) the provision further comprises: arranging at least one section of the second component at least partially in the recess of the first component, and iii) the additive manufacturing of the closure part further comprises: additive manufacturing of the closure part on a surface of the first component such that the closure part in a direction perpendicular to the construction direction of a part of the first Component and the second component overlaps to obtain the positive connection. This has the advantage that an interlocking connection between the first component and the second component is obtained in an efficient, flexible and robust manner. For example, the second component can have a plate, in particular a round plate, more particularly a round steel plate, while the first component made of aluminum can be made additive. The first component made of aluminum can thus be connected by means of a spot weld in the region of the steel plate with another component made of steel.
Rippen aufweist.According to a further embodiment, the second component has at least one bore and the additive manufacturing of the closure part further comprises: i) introducing the solidifiable material into the bore so that it is at least partially filled, and ii) selectively solidifying at least part of the solidifiable material within the bore to obtain the closure member. In this case, the closure part is connected to the first component by means of additive manufacturing such that the closure part coupled within the bore with the second component in order to obtain the positive connection. This too has the advantage that a positive connection between the first component and the second component is obtained in an efficient, flexible and robust manner. With the procedure described above, it is possible to start the process of additive manufacturing with a second component, which itself need not be made additive. In a flexible way, the first component can now be printed on the second component. Here, now, before the additive manufacturing of the first component, the closure part within the bore can be made additive. The described embodiment is particularly suitable for a first component which has irregularities such as e.g. Having ribs.
According to a further embodiment, the bore is cylindrical and according to another embodiment, the bore is conical. This has the advantage that a particularly stable compound can be obtained. The bore may be any recess in the first component. The hole can be continuous or not. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the bore is cylindrical or conical and can contact the first component via the filling of solidifiable material.
According to a further exemplary embodiment of the device, the construction surface has at least one depression into which an unevenness, in particular a rib, of the first component or of the second component can be introduced. This has the advantage that a large number of different components can be used and the process is very flexible. Bumps on the component therefore do not constitute a reason for exclusion when using the construction surface. On the contrary, the unevenness that can be accommodated in the recesses offers additional stability when positioning the component on the construction surface.
According to a further embodiment of the device, the construction surface has at least one positioning means, in particular a positioning pin, which is configured to position the first component or the second component on the construction surface. This has the advantage that the described method can be carried out particularly precisely. In this case, any positioning means which is suitable for positioning the first component or the second component on the construction surface can be used. For example, a positioning pin can be attached to the building surface, which can be introduced into a bore of the first component or of the second component. In this way, the component can be precisely positioned and edited.

Detaillierte Beschreibung von exemplarischen AusführungsformenDetailed description of exemplary embodiments
Before the figures are described in detail, some exemplary embodiments will be discussed below.
According to one embodiment, a first step is analogous to a conventional 3D powder pressure. Successively, individual layers of the first component are printed (i.e., additively manufactured) to a predefined height. From the height from which the second component would begin, or the contour of the second component would begin, additional increase sections will be printed, which later protrude through recesses of the second component. After the additive manufacturing of the raised portion, the printing operation is stopped and the excess powder necessary for the raised portion is removed. Thereafter, the second component is placed on the first component and the powder refilled up to the height of the elevation section. Now the pressure is resumed. The firm connection of the components is ensured by additional pressure layers (closure part) above the raised portion.
According to a further embodiment, a first step is analogous to a conventional 3D powder pressure. Individual layers of the first component are successively printed to a predefined height. In this case, one or more defined recesses are / are released. Then the printing process is interrupted and the excess powder located in the recess (s) is removed. After that, connecting plates (second component) are placed in the recess. Now the pressure is resumed. The firm connection of the components is ensured by additional, circumferential pressure layers above the elevations (closure part). As a result, for example, a steel plate can be incorporated into an aluminum pressure. This has the advantage that one can connect this aluminum component with a spot weld in the region of the steel plate with another steel component.
According to a further embodiment, the second component is provided with holes and is inserted into a powder bed of a powder printer. Either the second component is placed on the flat powder bed or inserted into a recess in the powder bed (this does not have to be a flat second component, but the component can protrude into the powder bed). Positioning of the component may be required and may be by means of locating pins or other known positioning methods. The printer applies a predefined thin layer of powder to the powder bed and thus also covers the second component. Depending on the printing process (lasers for metals or plastics, binders for plastics), the first powder layer (metal or plastic) is melted or bonded (bonded) with a binder. In the area of the holes of the second component, a laser power / amount of binder is increased in order to achieve an increased penetration depth. As a result, the powder, which was introduced by the first powder application in the holes, solidified. From the next powder layer, printing will continue normally and the first part will be printed. After printing, the component assembly is removed because the first component and the second component have joined through the printed holes. One way to improve the connection is to make the hole undercut (for example by punching).
