Description
The present invention relates to a substrate for an optical filter comprising a filter glass, and to an optical filter and its use.
Optical filters are characterized by characteristic transmission properties. Such a filter has at least one stopband and one passband. In this case, a blocking region is an area with the lowest possible transmission, while the passband is also the region of the spectrum with high transmission. If the transmission increases over a narrow spectral range from low to high transmission, it is referred to as a transmission edge. Filters with a steep transmission edge are also referred to as steep edge filters. The passband may be followed by a second stopband.
A transmission edge is achieved by absorption in the case of a glass and by interference in the case of an interference filter.
An optical steep-edge filter usually comprises a substrate that can be realized by a filter glass. In addition, at least one coating can be used to set the desired optical properties.
A colored filter glass (also called colored glass or volume filter) comprises a more or less colorless base glass in which coloring components (chromophores) are incorporated, which selectively absorb certain portions or larger portions of the incident light spectrum depending on the nature of the built-in component, whereby the glasses colored appear. In these color glasses, a distinction is made between ion-colored glasses and temper glasses, which differ in their coloring process and the absorption characteristics.
Depending on the composition of the base glass, the composition of the semiconductor doping and the control of the temperature-time program can produce nanocrystals of different chemical composition and size and thus change the edge position of the filter glass. Due to the formation of semiconductor crystals and their conduction properties (band structure, energy gap between valence and conduction band) absorbed a starting glass of irradiated white light from the UV range to the visible light and sometimes beyond quantitatively almost all light, while wavelengths beyond the first transmission edge (also called start-up edge) are allowed to pass quantitatively. Since absorption area (blocking area) and transmission area (passage area) are delimited by a steep edge, tempering glasses achieve particularly pure colors and thus particularly good filter properties.
Due to the steep first transmission edge whose position can be reproducibly adjusted with high accuracy by the composition, melting conditions and the annealing conditions, temper glasses are used as optical filters (so-called steep edge filters) and as a substrate for optical filters.

- Allgemein umfasst der NIR-Bereich des Spektrums Wellenlängen von 780 nm bis 3000 nm.For some applications, it may be advantageous to use optical filters which have a high transmittance, specifically only for a defined section of the spectrum, e.g. Wavelengths at the end of the red region of the visible spectrum to the near infrared (NIR) region of the spectrum, e.g. 1000 nm. - Generally, the NIR region of the spectrum includes wavelengths from 780 nm to 3000 nm.
For special optical applications, filters are required which have a particularly high transmission in one particular region of the spectrum and as low a transmission as possible in the other regions, if e.g. used in connection with sensors and therefore should be permeable only to light of a certain wavelength range. For applications in the red and NIR spectrum, e.g. LEDs are used which emit radiation in the wavelength range of about 700 nm to about 980 nm, which is to be detected by sensors. To improve the measurement result for the sensor, an optical filter is used in front of the sensor, which is highly permeable to the desired wavelength and as impermeable as possible to the other regions of the spectrum. Such optical filters having a pass band limited on both sides by stop bands are called a band pass filter.
As bandpass filters, multilayer systems or interference filters have hitherto frequently been used which comprise a (colorless) substrate and a plurality of applied filter layers whose filter effect is based on reflection, exhibit. Since the light is not absorbed in these layers, often multiple reflections occur in the associated lens system, which become so-called "ghost images". The design of the filter layers makes it possible to realize a large number of filter curves, the filter curves being characterized by steep edges on both sides between the passband and the stopband. A disadvantage of interference filters is that they have a strong dependence on the angle of incidence of the incident light, and that a wide and strong blocking can be realized only by a very large number of layers. Therefore, multilayer systems that have the desired steep-edge filtering function are very costly.
In the course of miniaturization of components, it is also necessary for filters to realize the required filter properties at a lower and lower overall thickness of the filter. Even colored glasses, which achieve sufficient blocking in the blocking region with hitherto customary thicknesses of 1 to 3 mm, exhibit undesired residual permeabilities, ie, at lower thicknesses (thicknesses <1 mm). a certain transmission, in the restricted area. At low substrate or filter thicknesses of <0.3 mm, even in tempered glass, the transmission in the stopband is usually still 20%, whereby additional measures are required (eg in the form of additionally applied filter layers, eg interference filter layers) to a sufficient blocking To achieve the transmission in the stopband.
Based on this problem, it is an object of the present invention to provide a substrate based on a filter glass for an optical filter with a passband in the NIR range, wherein the substrate has steep edge filter properties, has a first transmission edge between 700 nm and 840 nm and at low substrate thicknesses (<1 mm) has improved blocking by absorption in the stopband.
The objects are achieved by a substrate for an optical filter according to
The substrate for the optical filter may comprise the filter glass and, optionally, another component (e.g., a primer layer, a chemical resistance improving layer, an absorbing layer) applied thereto. In an advantageous embodiment, the filter glass forms the substrate for the optical filter, to which one or two or even further coating (s) (single-sided or double-sided coated filter glass) is / are applied to produce the optical filter.
Within the scope of the invention, the filter glass has a base glass based on SiO 2 as a network former, ZnO as a network former and network converter, and K 2 O as a network converter. As doping for coloring, the filter glass contains semiconductor dopants which form cadmium chalcogenides (CdS, CdSe, CdTe, but also mixed crystals with zinc chalcogenides such as (Zn, Cd) (S, Se, Te)). The filter glass is thus a starting glass. The coloring glass components are present in reduced form in the filter glass. In the following, however, all glass components are given as oxides in% by weight.
With regard to the filter properties of the filter glass or optical filter, it is advantageous for a filter glass thickness of 0.3 mm to prefer the first transmission edge at an interval with a width of ≦ 150 nm, preferably ≦ 130 nm, preferably ≦ 120 nm ≤ 110 nm, more preferably ≤ 100 nm, also preferably ≤ 80 nm, from a net transmittance of ≤ 15%, preferably ≤ 10%, to a net transmittance of ≥ 90%. This results in a particularly narrow transition region between the stopband and the passband, which is advantageous for the later use of the optical filter. The filter glass thus has a steep first transmission edge.
Advantageously, the thickness of the filter glass <1 mm, preferably ≤ 0.75 mm, preferably ≤ 0.5 mm, also preferably ≤ 0.3 mm, more preferably ≤ 0.25, further preferably ≤ 0.2 mm. It is thus a starting filter glass in the form of a thin glass. Its small thickness makes it particularly suitable for the production of miniaturized filters for optical and other applications.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the filter glass, based on a thickness of 0.3 mm, in the wavelength range between 400 and 680 nm, i. Within a portion of the first stopband, a pure transmission or a spectral pure transmittance of less than 15%, preferably ≤ 10%, more preferably ≤ 5%, particularly preferably ≤ 1%. The low residual transmittance in the visible spectrum range can significantly reduce or even eliminate the additional overhead required to block residual transmission (e.g., the application of additional filter layers, e.g., interference filter layers). In an advantageous variant of the filter glass is in the wavelength range between 300 and 700 nm, a pure transmittance of less than 15%, preferably ≤ 10%, more preferably ≤ 5%, more preferably ≤ 1% before, based on a filter glass thickness of 0.3 mm.
The passband of the filter glass or the optical filter should have the highest possible pure transmission (τ i ). In an advantageous development of the invention, the pure transmission in a section within the transmission range, ie for a wavelength range in the transmission range, at least 85%, preferably at least 90%, more preferably at least 91%, more preferably at least 95%, based on a filter glass thickness of 0.3 mm. It is furthermore advantageous if the wavelength range with the above-described high pure transmission extends over a width of> 100 nm, preferably> 130 nm, preferably> 150 nm. Preferably, the passband may be the desired one high pure transmission for certain applications in the wavelength range between 720 and 1100 nm, preferably between 750 and 1000 nm, more preferably between 780 and 950 nm.
The glass components for the filter glass are explained in more detail below. Here are described in components in the usual way in oxide form. However, this does not make any statement as to which raw material form the respective component is used for glass production and in which form the respective component is actually present in the glass (eg selenium can be present in the glass as SeO 2 , but also as Se 2 ).
In bevorzugten Ausführungsformen umfassen die Gläser dieser Erfindung weniger als 45 Gew.-% SiO2.Silica (SiO 2 ) serves as a network former and forms with 39 to 50 wt .-%, preferably 40 to 46 wt .-%, the main constituent of the glasses. The lower limit of 39 wt .-% should not be exceeded, otherwise the chemical resistance of the glass deteriorates. Another advantageous lower limit may be 40% by weight or 41% by weight. The upper limit of the SiO 2 content should be at most 50% by weight. This upper limit should not be exceeded, because otherwise the melting temperature rises too high and evaporate the volatile coloring Cd (S, Se, Te) compounds increasingly from the glass. Advantageous embodiments of the glasses have at most 46% by weight, preferably at most 45% by weight, of SiO 2 . In preferred embodiments, the glasses of this invention comprise less than 45 weight percent SiO 2 .
An essential additional component is zinc oxide (ZnO). ZnO achieves crystallization of the dopant in homogeneously distributed regions of the glass. As a result, a homogeneous crystallite growth of the semiconductor doping takes place during the later tempering of the glass, and crystallites with a very narrow size distribution are formed. This results in a very pure "color" and the steep first transmission edge of the filter glass according to the invention. High Zn levels are also advantageous in glassmaking because they form mixed crystals of cadmium and zinc with the chalcogenides. Due to the high affinity of zinc for sulfur, it helps to keep the chalcogenides in the melt. Sulfur losses during glass melting by burnout are thereby reduced. This component is present at 20 to 32 wt .-% in the glass. An advantageous range may also be 22 to 31% by weight, preferably 23 to 31% by weight. An upper limit of 32% by weight should not be exceeded because glasses having a high ZnO content tend to form drop-like precipitation areas. Therefore, an upper limit of 31% by weight or 30% by weight can also be advantageous. A lower limit of 20% by weight should not be undercut for ZnO, since otherwise the desired effects described above can not be realized. Further advantageous lower limits may be 22% by weight, advantageously 23% by weight, preferably 25% by weight. For some advantageous variants, 27% by weight may be an advantageous lower limit.
Since "zinc silicate glasses" have a high separation tendency, the filter glass advantageously contains potassium oxide (K 2 O) as a network converter in a proportion of 15 to 35 wt .-%. An advantageous range may also be 18 to 30% by weight, preferably 18 to 25% by weight. In order to prevent micro-precipitation of ZnO-enriched regions, to increase the chalcogenide solubility in the filter glass, to lower the processing temperature of the glasses and to allow the adjustment of the thermal expansion coefficient, the filter glass advantageously contains at least 15 wt .-% K 2 O. Further advantageous lower limits may be 18% by weight, preferably 20% by weight. An upper limit of 35 wt .-% should not be exceeded, because otherwise the chemical resistance is too bad and the thermal Coefficient of expansion becomes too high. Advantageously, therefore, a K 2 O upper limit of 30 wt .-%, preferably 27 wt .-%, preferably 25 wt .-% be.
In a relatively small proportion of potassium oxide can be replaced by sodium oxide (Na 2 O) in the base glass. Na 2 O may advantageously be present at 0 to 5 wt .-% in the glass. Na 2 O is less suitable than K 2 O in TeO 2 -containing and high ZnO-containing starter glasses to set the desired filter properties. There is a risk that unwanted Na-Zn silicates crystallize out. In addition, higher Na 2 O contents reduce the chemical resistance. Therefore, an upper limit of 5 wt .-% should not be exceeded. Further advantageous upper limits may be 4% by weight, preferably 3% by weight, preferably 2% by weight, also preferably 1% by weight. When Na 2 O is contained in the glass, 0.01% by weight may be a favorable lower limit. Na 2 O is preferably not specifically added to the mixture as a component, but passes through the raw material used another glass component (eg as a cationic component of the selenium raw material) in the glass. Na 2 O is in this case no raw material contamination, but a raw material companion, but not a mandatory glass component. However, variants are also possible which, apart from conventional impurities, are free from added Na 2 O, for example when another selenium raw material is used.
In preferred variants of the invention, the filter glass has a Na 2 O / K 2 O ratio (based on wt .-% based on oxide) of <1, preferably <0.5, also advantageously <0.3, preferably of <0.2 , preferably <0.1, more preferably from <0.08 to, also preferably <0.05. The Na 2 O / K 2 O ratio is advantageous for the adjustment of the thermal expansion coefficient.
In some variants, the filter glass - preferably by a substitution of K 2 O - at most 5 wt .-% Rb 2 O and / or at most 5 wt .-% Cs 2 O and / or less than 1 wt .-% Li 2 O contain. However, this is less preferred in terms of material costs. Advantageous variants may be free of Rb 2 O and / or Cs 2 O and / or Li 2 O. When at least one of these components is contained in the filter glass, 0.01% by weight each may be a favorable lower limit. In one variant, a maximum of 2 wt .-%, advantageously at most 1 wt .-% Rb 2 O and / or at most 2 wt .-%, advantageously at most 1 wt .-% Cs 2 O included. An advantageous upper limit for Li 2 O may be <1% by weight.
In order to increase the meltability of the filter glass may contain this boron oxide (B 2 O 3 ) in a proportion of> 0 to 4 wt .-%. An advantageous lower limit may be 1% by weight. However, variants with <1 wt .-% B 2 O 3 or B 2 O 3 -free variants are possible. It may be advantageous if the filter glass at most 4 wt .-%, preferably less than 4 wt .-% B 2 O 3 (eg 3 wt .-% or 2 wt .-%). Excessive B 2 O 3 content can degrade the chemical resistance of the glass.
In the invention, a filter glass may preferably be free of added alkaline earth metal oxide RO (i.e., free of MgO, CaO, SrO, and BaO). Some variants may contain one or more alkaline earth metal oxide (s) (calcium oxide (CaO), magnesium oxide (MgO), strontium oxide (SrO), barium oxide (BaO)) to adjust viscosity and coefficient of thermal expansion, improve meltability and processability. They are just like the alkali metal oxides network converters. In the context of the invention, its content (ie the sum RO (R = Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba)) should not exceed a value of at most 10% by weight, preferably at most 8% by weight, since the softening temperature rises too much and the solubility of the chalcogenides would decrease too much. A lower limit for the sum RO may be 0.01% by weight.
Als Obergrenze gilt für jeder der genannten Komponenten 7 Gew.-%.MgO and / or CaO and / or BaO and / or SrO may be present in some variants, for example in each case in a proportion of at least 0.01% by weight. The upper limit is 7% by weight for each of the components mentioned.
Als weitere Komponenten können im Grundglas optional enthalten sein:As further components may optionally be contained in the base glass:
Besonders vorteilhafte Varianten sind daher frei von F.Fluorine (F) may optionally be included in the glass. If included, a lower limit may be 0.01% by weight. By the presence of F, the melting temperature can be lowered and thus evaporation of the volatile glass components can be reduced. An upper limit of 3% by weight, advantageously 2% by weight, preferably 1% by weight, should not be exceeded, because it may cause streaks due to F evaporation. In addition, high fluorine concentrations lead to the dissolution of the melting vessel. Particularly advantageous variants are therefore free of F.
The glasses may further contain up to 3 wt% TiO 2 , up to 3 wt% Al 2 O 3 , and / or up to 10 wt% P 2 O 5 . A suitable lower limit may be 0.01% by weight for each of the named components. be. TiO 2 can improve the UV blocking, but also has negative effects as a nucleating agent for unwanted crystal phases and can lead to disturbing color effects, so the upper limit of 3 wt .-% should not be exceeded. An advantageous variant may be TiO 2 fei. Al 2 O 3 can be used to improve the acid resistance and lower the melting temperature. However, an Al 2 O 3 upper limit of 3 wt .-% should not be exceeded, because the base glass can then be crystallization-sensitive. In an advantageous embodiment, at most 2% by weight, preferably at most 1% by weight, preferably at most 0.5% by weight, particularly preferably at most 0.1% by weight, of Al 2 O 3 may be present in the filter glass. Variants can be free from added Al 2 O 3 . P 2 O 5 improves the meltability / sinterability. However, since it has adverse effects on the expansion coefficient and the chemical resistance, it is preferred to use it only to 5% by weight, and more preferably only to 3% by weight. Particularly preferred variants are free of P 2 O 5 .
Refractory oxides, ie oxides of eg zirconium, niobium, tantalum and lanthanum, can be used to improve the chemical resistance and / or to influence the expansion coefficient, T g and processing temperature (V A ). Due to their poor meltability / sinterability, their tendency to crystallize and sometimes unwanted color effects and the high price you will introduce them only to 5 wt .-%, preferably up to 3 wt .-%. A suitable lower limit may be 0.01% by weight for each of the named components. Advantageous variants are free of zirconium oxide and / or niobium oxide and / or tantalum oxide and / or lanthanum oxide.
As doping constituents for coloring, the filter glasses according to the invention preferably contain CdO, SeO 2 , TeO 2 and SO 3 . From cadmium (Cd) and zinc (Zn) as cationic components and sulfur (S), selenium (Se) and tellurium (Te) as anionic components, crystals or mixed crystals form. The crystals which form can be described as (Cd, Zn) (S, Se, Te), the components separated by commas within a bracket being able to substitute each other to a large extent.
Cadmium oxide (CdO) is advantageously contained in the filter glass at a content of 0.1 to 3 wt .-%. A preferred range may be 0.2 to 2% by weight, preferably 0.3 to 1% by weight. The lower limit of 0.1% by weight should not be undershot, because otherwise too little CdO is available for the dyeing process. An advantageous lower limit for CdO may also be 0.2% by weight, preferably 0.3% by weight, preferably 0.4% by weight. The upper limit of 3% by weight should not be exceeded because the content of CdO during processing and in the product should be rather low due to its toxicity. It may also be advantageous if at most 2.5% by weight, preferably at most 2% by weight, preferably at most 1.5% by weight, particularly preferably at most 1% by weight, of CdO is present in the filter glass.
Sulfur trioxide (SO 3 ) is advantageously contained in a content of 0.05 to 1 wt .-% in the filter glass. A preferred range may be 0.07 to 0.7 wt%, preferably 0.1 to 0.5 wt%. The lower limit of 0.05 wt .-% should not be fallen below, because otherwise too little SO 3 is available for the coloring process. In addition, sulfur or the added sulfide-containing raw material component in the melt acts as a reducing agent. The combustion of S produces volatile SO 2 , which at the same time acts as a refining agent due to the formation of bubbles. An advantageous lower limit for SO 3 may also be 0.07% by weight, preferably 0.1% by weight. The upper limit of 1 wt .-% should not be exceeded, because otherwise disturbing phases of K 2 SO 4 or Na 2 SO 4 (sulfate bile) can excrete from the glass. It may also be advantageous if a maximum of 0.7 wt .-%, preferably at most 0.5 wt .-%, preferably at most 0.4 wt .-%, particularly preferably at most 0.3 wt .-%, SO 3 im Filter glass is included.
Selenium dioxide (SeO 2 ) is advantageously contained in a content of 0.1 to 1.5 wt .-% in the filter glass. A preferred range may be 0.2 to 1% by weight, preferably 0.3 to 0.7% by weight. The lower limit of 0.1% by weight should not be undershot, because otherwise too little SeO 2 is available for the dyeing process. In the chalcogenide crystals, CdS and CdSe form mixed crystals due to corresponding crystal lattice structures. An advantageous lower limit for SeO 2 may also be 0.2% by weight, preferably 0.25% by weight, preferably 0.3% by weight. The upper limit of 1.5% by weight should not be exceeded because SeO 2 easily evaporates at higher temperatures and again sublimates at another colder point. SeO 2 is also one of the most toxic and high-priced components, which is why its share should be kept rather low. It may also be advantageous if at most 1 wt .-%, preferably at most 0.7 wt .-%, preferably at most 0.5 wt .-%, SeO 2 is contained in the filter glass.
Tellurium dioxide (TeO 2 ) is important to achieve the desired within the scope of the invention, the position of the first transmission edge at the end of the visible spectrum or at the beginning of the NIR range. Therefore, it is contained at a content of 0.1 to 3 wt .-% in the filter glass. A preferred range may be 0.15 to 2 parts by weight. %, preferably 0.2 to 1 wt .-% be. The lower limit of 0.1 wt .-% should not be exceeded, because otherwise too little TeO 2 is available for the desired coloring process. In the chalcogenide crystals, CdS and CdSe form mixed crystals due to their similar crystal lattice. CdTe is stored in these mixed crystals. An advantageous lower limit for TeO 2 may also be 0.15% by weight, preferably 0.2% by weight. The upper limit of 3% by weight should not be exceeded because a higher content of TeO 2 does not lead to shifting the position of the first transmission edge to even higher wavelengths. Furthermore, TeO 2 is similar to SeO 2 toxic and more expensive, so it should not be used in even higher concentrations. It may also be advantageous if a maximum of 2.5 wt .-%, preferably at most 2 wt .-%, preferably at most 1.5 wt .-%, also preferably at most 1 wt .-% TeO 2 is contained in the filter glass. Advantageous variants may contain at most 0.7% by weight or at most 0.5% by weight.
Filters Kobaltoxid (CoO) mit einem Gehalt von 1 bis 7 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise > 1 bis 7 Gew.-%.In addition to the chalcogenides of cadmium, the filter glass of the substrate or filter according to the invention contains cobalt oxide (CoO) with a content of 1 to 7 wt .-%, preferably> 1 to 7 wt .-%.
The filter properties of the filter glass according to the invention are based, on the one hand, on a color formation mechanism typical of temper glasses and, on the other hand, on a color formation mechanism typical of ion-colored glasses. Surprisingly, it has been found within the scope of the invention that such high CoO contents in a TeO 2- containing tempering glass are possible and advantageous if the filter glass is used as a thin substrate with thicknesses <1 mm for an optical filter. Due to the absorption bands of CoO in the area of heat radiation, it was previously assumed that such high CoO contents are present in TeO 2 -containing starter glasses which are to be suitable for filters and for which therefore high demands are placed on the optical properties and the homogeneity. are not possible. In order to significantly increase the blocking in the visible region of the spectrum and to produce a second stopband in the NIR range, CoO should contain at least 1% by weight, preferably more than 1% by weight, in the filter glass. Further advantageous lower limits may be 1.25% by weight, preferably 1.5% by weight, preferably 1.7% by weight, also preferably 2% by weight. 7% by weight should not be exceeded as the upper limit, because otherwise the desired high pure transmission in the passband would worsen. In advantageous variants, it is also possible for a maximum of 6% by weight, preferably not more than 5% by weight, to be contained in CoO.
Optionally, manganese (II) oxide (MnO) may be contained in the filter glass as a coloring component in a proportion of 0 to 5 wt .-%. The use of MnO may be beneficial in thin filter glasses to aid the absorbing action of the CoO. When MnO is contained in the glass, an advantageous lower limit may be 0.05% by weight, preferably 0.1% by weight, preferably 0.5% by weight, also preferably 1% by weight. An advantageous upper limit may also be 4% by weight, 3% by weight or 2% by weight.
Gemäß einer Ausführungsform besteht das Glas zu 95 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise zu 98 Gew.-%, mehr bevorzugt zu 99 Gew.-% aus den Komponenten SiO2, ZnO, K2O, B2O3, CdO, SO3, SeO2, TeO2 und CoO.According to one embodiment, the glass consists of 95% by weight, preferably 98% by weight, more preferably 99% by weight, of the components SiO 2 , ZnO, K 2 O, B 2 O 3 , CdO, SO 3 , SeO 2 , TeO 2 and CoO.
The glass according to the invention is preferably free of the oxides of other coloring components, such as Cu, Fe, Cr and / or Ni and / or optically active, such as laser-active components, such as oxides of Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Tb, as filter glass. Dy, Ho, Er and / or Tm. In addition, the glass is preferably free of harmful components such as oxides of Hg, Pb and Tl. The glasses of this invention are more preferably free of radioactive constituents such as oxides of Th and U.
The glass according to the invention preferably contains no bismuth oxide, is free from rare earth metal oxides such as niobium oxide, yttrium oxide, ytterbium oxide, gadolinium oxide and tungsten oxide and / or zirconium oxide, with the exception of lanthanum oxide La 2 O 3 as described above. Niobium oxide is poorly soluble in the melt. In addition, niobium is a polyvalent ion that participates in the redox equilibrium in the melt. By zirconium oxide and / or ytterbium oxide increases the risk of crystallization of the glass. Yttria can degrade the weatherability of the glass. In addition, the glass is preferably free of platinum (Pt). Platinum and other metals of the Pt group (Ru, Os, Rh, Ir, Pd) have a disturbing effect on the optical properties. It can lead to scattering effects and color changes. Therefore, it should be less than 3 ppm, preferably less than 2 ppm, preferably less than 1 ppm in the glass.
According to one embodiment of the present invention, the glass according to the invention is also preferably free from other components not mentioned in the claims or the description, ie according to such an embodiment the glass consists essentially of the components listed above, with individual ones being not or less preferred may be excluded. The expression "consisting essentially of" means that other components at most are present as impurities but are not intentionally added to the glass composition as a single component.
If the description states that the glasses are free of a component or do not contain a certain component, this means that this component may at most be present as an impurity in the glasses. This means that it is not added in significant amounts or not at all as a glass component. Non-essential amounts are inventively amounts of less than 100 ppm, preferably less than 50 ppm and most preferably less than 10 ppm. However, these limits do not apply to Na 2 O, which may be present as raw material companion in the glass with a higher proportion, but which is advantageously less than 2 wt .-%, preferably less than 1 wt .-%, is.
The refining in this glass preferably takes place primarily via physical refining, ie the glass is so thin at the melting / refining temperatures that the bubbles (eg volatile SO 2 ) can rise.
The filter glasses for the substrate according to the invention can be produced by means of conventional melting methods for start glasses, i. under reducing conditions at temperatures of about 1100 to 1550 ° C, preferably 1220-1360 ° C are melted and purified from the raw materials. During cooling, the glass is preferably made equal to a desired shape. To form the color (i.e., to tarnish), the blank thus obtained is reheated (annealed) under a specified temperature-time program.
For this purpose, they are subjected to a further temperature treatment in the range from [T g minus 70 ° C] to [T g plus 150 ° C], for example heat treatment in the range from 530 to 730 ° C, for several hours to several weeks. Nanoparticles of Cd and Zn are formed from the color components dissolved in the glass with S, Se, Te, whose band gap between valence band and conduction band is determined on the one hand by the composition of the crystallites and on the other by their size. This in turn depends on the start-up temperature and time. The higher the temperature and / or the longer the start-up time, the larger the crystallites become, the smaller the band gap and the longer-wavelength the inherent color of the glass. The band gap approaches asymptotically the limit of the macroscopic crystal of the same composition. After completion of the start-up process, the typical transmission behavior for the glass, namely that of a steep-edge filter, has developed. It is characterized by a blocking region (absorption region) at short wavelengths and a very abrupt transition to practically complete transmission, the so-called transmission or passband at slightly higher wavelengths. Between barrier and passband are preferably less than 150 nm.
Also, a preparation of a substrate according to the invention on a known Sinterweg is possible. For this, e.g. a green body obtained from a suspension containing the necessary glass components, after solidification dried, sintered at temperatures between 600 ° C and 1200 ° C and / or melted. A sintering process based on a powder technology method is also possible. Following the production of a glass blank, the start-up process for the formation of the cadmium chalcogenide crystals takes place in the respectively required temperature-time program.
The invention also provides an optical filter which provides a substrate according to the invention, comprising a filter glass with a first steep transmission edge (ie a steep edge filter, preferably a bandpass filter) with a defined passband, and at least one optical layer for adapting the spectral transmission of the having optical filter. In this case, the at least one optical layer can increase blocking in the desired stop band and / or increase the steepness of the transition stopband passband and / or increase the transmission in the passband and / or or produce a narrowband bandpass filter in the passband. A narrowband bandpass filter in the sense of this invention has an interval defined by steep edges with a high spectral transmission, wherein the interval width (FWHM, see also DIN ISO 9211-2) is at most 150 nm, preferably at most 80 nm, preferably at most 25 nm maximum 15 nm.
The substrate is preferably a substantially planar, flat and thin element, i. it has two opposite sides, the substrate surfaces are each large in relation to the thickness of the substrate.
The substrate or the filter glass of the optical filter can be coated on one or both sides. In a single-sided coating, only one substrate surface has an optical layer. In the case of a coating on both sides, both mutually opposite substrate surfaces each have an optical layer. Of course, it would also be possible to provide several optical layers per substrate surface.
In a first advantageous embodiment, the optical layer is an interference layer, preferably an interference multilayer system. In another advantageous embodiment, the optical layer is a coating which has an absorbing component. The optical layer has the task to increase the spectral transmission in one or more defined sections of the spectrum (anti-reflection effect) and / or to increase the blocking in one or more areas. It can also serve to increase the steepness of the transition Sperrbereich-passband and / or to produce a narrow-band bandpass filter in the passband. At the same time, the at least one optical layer can serve as a protective layer in order to increase the resistance of the filter glass to environmental influences. An undesired residual transmission in the blocking region of the filter glass (in particular in the second blocking region) can also be blocked by a correspondingly designed optical layer, in which case the at least one optical layer can also have an absorbing effect.
The at least one optical layer may preferably be designed as an interference multilayer system in order to support the filter effect of the filter glass and to fulfill the above-mentioned functions. However, interference filters have angle-dependent edges: ie. the optical filter has a "color" shift that depends on the angle of incidence.
Advantageously, the thickness of the optical filter <1 mm, preferably ≤ 0.75 mm, preferably ≤ 0.5 mm, also preferably ≤ 0.3 mm, more preferably ≤ 0.25, further preferably ≤ 0.2 mm.
Filterglases. The optical properties of the optical filter are determined by the properties of the optical layer and the properties of the substrate or filter glass.
As described above, the inventive filter glass of the optical filter has a passband in the red region or NIR region of the spectrum with a steep first transmission edge. Within the passage area lies a section in which the pure transmission of a filter glass having a thickness of 0.3 mm preferably reaches at least 85%, preferably 90%. This section, ie the area with a particularly high pure transmission, is advantageously to be found in the wavelength range between 750 nm to 950 nm.
A filter glass according to the invention, which due to its composition and its temperature treatment has a steep first transmission edge, is advantageous for the production of an optical filter according to the invention because the steep first transmission edge of the optical filter located towards the short-wavelength region of the spectrum is already provided by the filter glass itself can and must not be created only by a complex optical layer (eg, a complex, angle-dependent multiple-layer system). Of course, the first transmission edge of the optical filter can still be modified by applying a multilayer system or a coating. A first steep transmission edge of the filter glass has the advantage that the short-wave edge of the optical filter is no longer influenced so much by the applied layer system.
In addition, it is known that many optical bandpass filters formed via an interference multilayer system have the disadvantage that, in addition to the desired and specially designed passband, they can have further regions with increased transmission in the visible region of the spectrum (so-called secondary maxima). Because the optical filter according to the invention has the filter glass according to the invention with a stopband in the visible region of the spectrum, these secondary maxima can not negatively affect the transmission properties of the optical filter. As a result, for example, the structure of the interference multilayer system can be simplified.
By means of one or more optical layers applied to the substrate according to the invention, it is thus possible, for special applications of the optical filter, to change the passband defined by the filter glass, e.g. narrow down in a targeted manner. This at least one optical layer serves to change the spectrum of the filter glass. The filter effect of the glass is thus supported by the at least one optical layer, in particular in the form of an interference layer system.
In an advantageous embodiment of the substrate according to the invention for an optical filter, the filter glass has a second blocking region in the near infrared region (NIR region) (see above). Even such a filter glass thus selectively passes only a narrow wavelength range of the spectrum in the red to near IR range. The second transmission edge of the filter glass located to the IR region can also be adapted to adapt the spectral transmission of the optical filter by one or more optical layers.
By combining a filter glass substrate according to the invention with at least one suitable optical layer, the optical filters according to the invention can thus be optimally adapted to the respective requirements imposed by the respective fields of application. From a substrate according to the invention, which has the described filter properties, and an optical layer or a plurality of optical layers, a multiplicity of individually adapted optical filters for various applications can be produced in a variety of ways.
The optical filter may preferably be a filter with bandpass characteristics having a first stop band in the visible region of the spectrum and a second stop band in the NIR region of the spectrum. Between the blocking areas, in which the optical filter should block as well as possible, there is a passband, the width and exact location of which depends on the individual later application. The passband of the optical filter is found in the wavelength range between 700 nm and 1100 nm.
In a preferred embodiment, the filter glass substrate according to the invention is embodied as a thin plate-shaped element, and an interference filter system is constructed on one or both (advantageously polished) sides, so that at least one of the following bandpass properties of the filter glass is improved: increase blocking in the desired stop band and / or increasing the steepness of the transition from blocking to passband and / or increasing the transmission in the desired passband and / or producing a narrowband bandpass filter in the passband. The combination of inventive filter glass and at least one optical layer according to the invention makes it possible, in particular, to produce a narrow-band bandpass filter which is not possible as a pure filter glass and which can not be realized as a pure interference filter or only with reduced blocking properties.
As described above, through specially designed, coated layer systems (e.g., interference layer systems), the passband of the optical filter can be tailored to the particular application. By way of example, such optical filters are used in mobile devices (for example smartphones), which should preferably have the lowest possible height. The optical filter is often used in a combination of "transmitters" (eg a narrow-band LED or laser) and a sensor to ensure that essentially only the light from the transmitter hits the sensor and extraneous light (eg sunlight) is blocked , The passband of the optical filter with a range of a high pure transmission of preferably at least 90% should be matched as accurately as possible to the transmitter used. Commonly used commercial LEDs may be e.g. their spectral maximum at 750 nm, 780 nm, 830 nm, 850 nm, 905 nm, 940 nm, etc. have.
The optical layer according to the invention may advantageously be an interference filter layer system. Such an interference filter layer system can be individually designed in a known manner and thus adapted to the respective requirements. A characteristic feature of an interference filter layer system is that particularly steep flanks can be set in the transmission spectrum. Typically, multiple interference filter layers are needed to produce the desired transmission characteristics of the filter, so talk about an interference multilayer system.
The application of an interference layer or an interference multilayer system, for example, via a physical vapor deposition (PVD), for example by thermal Evaporation, sputtering, electron beam evaporation, carried out. Suitable dielectric materials for forming an interference layer may be, for example, fluorides (eg MgF 2, CeF 3), oxides (eg TiO 2, SiO 2, Ta 2 O 5), nitrides, carbides, semiconductor materials, certain metals (elemental or alloys). Thin oxide layers are frequently used in multilayer systems of interference filters, for example as TiO 2-SiO 2 multilayers, TiO 2 also being able to be replaced by Ta 2 O 5. In addition, many other materials and methods are known to those skilled in the art to produce a suitable interference multilayer system on a substrate.
Alternatively or in addition to an interference filter layer, the optical filter may comprise an optical layer comprising at least one absorbing component. The optical filter thus comprises an absorbing layer. Depending on the wavelength range to be changed, an absorbing component having suitable absorption properties is selected.
The absorbent layer may comprise a dye (e.g., a pigment or organic dye) which may be contained in a matrix. However, absorbing layers without a separate matrix are also possible. The application of the absorbing optical layer to the substrate according to the invention can be carried out, for example, by spin coating, spraying, dipping, casting, painting, screen printing, pad printing, inkjet printing, off-set printing, roll coating or other methods known to the person skilled in the art ,
The invention further relates to the use of an optical filter according to the invention in the fields of distance measurement, iris recognition, gesture recognition, LIDAR (light / laser detection and ranging) applications. Especially in these areas systems are used which require a high pure transmission in areas of the NIR spectrum and in other wavelength ranges as high as possible blocking.
For producing a filter glass having the composition according to the
Also in the other embodiments, the respective start-up temperatures were in the range (T g minus 70 ° C) to (T g plus 150 ° C), and the holding time was between 2 and 48 hours. As a rule, the nucleation phase was preceded by a nucleation phase of 1 to 2 hours, the first temperature being selected to be lower by 10 to 150 ° C. than the second temperature. However, a nucleation phase is optional. Depending on the desired position of the first transmission edge, it can be omitted.

The stopband should have the lowest possible clean transmission. In particular, within the scope of the invention, for a filter glass thickness of 0.3 mm, the net transmission within the first stopband should at least partially, i. for a wavelength range lying in the stop band, preferably ≦ 15%, preferably ≦ 10%, more preferably ≦ 5%, particularly preferably ≦ 1%. Within the second blocking range, the pure transmission, based on the above-mentioned filter glass thicknesses, i. for a wavelength range lying in the stopband, at most 45%, preferably at most 40%, more preferably at most 35%, further preferably at most 30%. The average transmission in the second stopband may preferably be at most 50%, preferably at most 40%, more preferably at most 30%.
From a wavelength of 1136 nm, a second blocking region of the filter glass adjoins the passage region. The second transmission edge located to the long wavelength region of the spectrum drops from 90% pure transmission to 25% pure transmission in the range of 959 nm to 1282 nm, thus not being as steep as the first transmission edge. However, for many common applications, the net transmittance characteristics of the second stopband are less relevant.
The optical filter comprises as substrate a 0.3 mm thick filter glass according to the invention (embodiment 1) whose pure transmission is represented by the dashed curve. As an optical layer, the optical filter has an interference multilayer system whose spectral transmission is represented by the dotted curve. It can be clearly seen that the pure interference multilayer system has numerous interfering secondary maxima (sections with high spectral transmission), especially in the visible wavelength range. As a result of the fact that the filter glass according to the invention has a high blocking at wavelengths of less than 695 nm, the entire optical filter also has a high blocking in this wavelength range, so that costly measures (for example by additional layers) for eliminating these secondary maxima can be dispensed with. If the remaining portions of the spectral transmission which are not completely suppressed by the filter glass (for example at approx. 785 nm, approx. 1073 nm) are disturbing for the particular application, they can be blocked by one or more additional optical layers ,
