Description
The present invention relates to a method for functional testing of multiple light sources. So far, controlled by a controller light sources, which are fed in parallel from a common voltage source, monitored on function by the diverted from the supply current, the individual light source supplied partial stream is monitored in each case by an associated controller or all partial streams by means of a controller with one of the number monitored by light sources corresponding signal inputs. The associated circuitry complexity is comparatively high or the controllers are comparatively expensive or their design, in particular the number of available signal inputs, can not be scaled with the number of light sources.
The inventor has therefore set itself the task of providing a method with which constructively simplifies a function check can be performed, in which in particular the function of the light sources with respect to the operationally provided light control and the light emission is not affected as possible.
Against this background, the present invention provides a method for structurally simplified functional testing of a plurality of pulse width modulated light sources. According to the invention this object is achieved by a method having the features of claim 1. An equally advantageous circuit and an associated use are the subject of the independent claims. Advantageous embodiments are the subject of the dependent claims. It should be noted that the features listed individually in the claims can be combined with each other in any technologically meaningful manner and show further embodiments of the invention. The description, in particular in connection with the figures, additionally characterizes and specifies the invention.
The invention relates to a method for functional testing of a plurality of light sources, in particular a plurality of light emitting diodes, such as light emitting diodes in SMD type. The method comprises the step of providing a plurality of light sources, wherein the light sources are electrically connected in parallel in order to be fed jointly from a voltage source, in particular a DC voltage source, by means of a feed current. In a further provision step, one control electronics per light source is provided in each case. In a step of generating, in each case one pulse-width-modulated control signal for the associated drive electronics, for example, generated by a controller, to pulse-modulated to the respective drive electronics associated light source with a voltage of the voltage source.
According to the invention, at least one specific time window of the diagnosis of all control signals is provided. The control signals are formed during this specific diagnostic time window so that only one specific light source from all the light sources is supplied with voltage from the voltage source. Within the specific diagnostic time window, it is determined in a determination step whether the respective supply current occurs in the specific diagnostic time window in order to rule out a defect of the specific light source. It is thus closed at least qualitatively in the presence of the supply of all light sources provided for the supply current to the function of the specific light source, as this essentially exclusively loads the common voltage source. In the method according to the invention can thus for functional testing of the specific light source to a partial current measurement directly at the specific light source for their function verification in favor of a comparatively simple current measurement in the power supply circuit, i. in the all light sources feeding line, are dispensed with. In addition, it is thus possible to selectively check each individual and, in total, all the light sources by a simple measurement in the power supply circuit and localize the defect such that a specific light-emitting diode is specifically addressed in the diagnostic time window and thus identifiable.
In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the method, a plurality of specific diagnostic windows are provided for the respective time progression of all control signals, so that each of the light sources is supplied with voltage from the voltage source at least once in order to carry out a structurally simple check of all the light sources.
In one embodiment, it is provided, for example, that at least two of the specific diagnosis time windows, which relate to different light sources, follow one another directly in terms of time. For example, it is provided that all light sources are checked for function in a sequence of temporally immediately following diagnosis time windows.
It is preferably provided that the control signals have the same period in order to simplify the control of the light sources.
According to a preferred embodiment, it is provided that the control signals are outside the specific diagnostic time window or windows are designed to visualize a switching or functional state by means of the associated light source, ie a function of the visualization of switching and functional states is ensured outside the diagnostic time window.
It is preferably provided that the specific diagnostic time windows are provided in a sequence corresponding to the period of the control signals or a multiple of the period of the control signals. It is preferably provided that the control signals are selected in the diagnostic time windows so that the light sources are tested in a cyclic order.
In order to prevent the diagnostic window from adversely affecting the perception of the light emission of the light source by a viewer as a flicker, the duration of the diagnostic time window is a maximum of 10% of the period, preferably a maximum of 5% of the period. For this reason, the method can be integrated into the normal operation of the light sources for the visualization of functional and switching states of other units, and it requires no additional, independent of normal operation test cycle, for example in a start-up phase or shutdown phase.
According to one embodiment of the method, at least two control signals differ in their duty cycle in order to adapt the light emission of the associated light source.
In one embodiment, the supply current is determined in the diagnostic time window by means of a measuring resistor, optionally a quantitative determination of the supply current is possible. Preferably and in particular in a preferably pure qualitative determination of the supply current of this is detected by a voltage drop across a diode, preferably Zener diode, so that the power supply circuit is not additionally claimed by a resistive load.
According to a preferred embodiment of the method, exactly one controller, preferably microcontroller, is provided in order to carry out the steps of generating and determining. In other words, a single controller is provided with a plurality of signal outputs corresponding to the number of light sources for providing the control signals and at least one signal input for supplying the potential tapped at the power supply circuit for carrying out the method. It is preferably provided that the number of inputs provided on the controller is less than the number of light sources. In one embodiment, the microcontroller further comprises a Busanaschluss or switching inputs to receive, for example, commands for triggering the control of the light sources and to output an error message, for example, in the detection of a defect.
