Description
The present invention relates to a device and a method for the contactless determination of parameters of an electrically conductive substance, in particular its flow rate or electrical conductivity or the presence of defects in a solid electrically conductive substance with the help of the electrically conductive substance generated with a magnetic field and on the magnetic field generating unit as a reaction transmitted Lorentz force.
The determination of flow velocities in liquid or gaseous electrically conductive substances is of great importance in the metallurgical, semiconductor, glass, chemical and food industries. With a process control, its control and regulation via the respective flow velocity or the flow rate, energy and resources are saved. This enables reproducible and efficient process management. However, there are no suitable measuring devices that measure contactlessly for the areas of application listed, which is why contamination of the flowing substance is unavoidable. This is particularly critical for hot and aggressive substances such as melting steel, aluminum, copper, etc. The complex and uncontrollable wetting behavior of liquid metals also limits the applicability of contact-based measuring techniques, including inductive flow measuring techniques.
Glass melts, which, depending on their composition and the process stage, have temperatures of up to 1600 ° C, are very corrosive at these temperatures. There is therefore still no direct flow measurement method - neither in the laboratory - nor on an industrial scale. The process control is model-based here via in-situ temperature measurements or via the determination of the weight of the final product, e.g. a bottle in container glass production.
The control of solar thermal power plants also requires precise and contactless volume flow measurement technology, as the nitrate salts used for energy storage at working temperatures of 280 to 550 ° C only allow contactless flow measurement technology due to their very aggressive reactivity.
In order to limit safety-relevant risks in the reappearance of the reactor concepts with molten salt cooling (English: Molten Salt Reactors (MSRs)), which can also use the more frequently occurring thorium, which is roughly evenly distributed around the world, as breeding material, precise and contactless volume flow measurement techniques are also required here.

In: Proceedings Workshop Elektroprozesstechnik, Technische Universität Ilmenau, Ilmenau/ Ortsteil Heyda, Tagungsband, 12.-13. Sept. In Halbedel, B. et al., High-temperature superconductors as a magnetic field source for Lorentz force anemometry of weakly conductive fluids. In: Proceedings Workshop Electrical Process Technology, Ilmenau University of Technology, Ilmenau / Heyda district, proceedings, 12.-13. Sept. 2013 it is proposed to use high-temperature superconductor bulks (HTSL-Bulk) based on cuprates Bi 2 Sr 2 Ca 2 Cu 3 O 10-x (BSCCO) and YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7-x (YBCO) for the Lorentz force anemometry, the arrangements similar to Halbach are positioned in a cryostat with sophisticated insulation technology (GRP, vacuum) and cooled with liquid nitrogen LN 2 . The sole cooling and cryostatization of the HTSL bulk increases the mass of the magnet system significantly (>> 1 kg), so that no sufficiently sensitive force measurement techniques can be used. In addition, with an HTSL bulk pair you only achieve a Lorentz force about 1.7 higher than with the NdFeB magnet pair with a model electrolyte flowing at 5 ms -1 with a conductivity of 4 Sm- 1 , so that such anemometer systems only for electrolyte flows of> 10 ms -1 appear usable.

The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a variably usable device and an associated method for contactless determination of parameters of an electrically conductive substance, with which the disadvantages known from the prior art can be overcome and Lorentz forces up to 1 nN are detected without contact and flow velocities from them in the 1 mm / s range, electrical conductivities up to 1 mS / m and even the smallest macroscopic defects of the order of magnitude <1 mm in electrically conductive substances can be determined.

With the present invention it is proposed that one or more rigidly interconnected, magnetized components made of high-temperature superconductor materials, such as. B. a rare earth barium cuprate (SEBa 2 Cu 3 O 7-x ), often abbreviated SEBCO, with a rare earth metal (SE) made of ytterbium (Yb), yttrium (Y), gadolinium (Gd) or samarium (Sm) or a magnesium diboride (MgB 2 ) or an iron-based high-temperature superconductor material (A'Fe 2 As 2 with A '(alkaline earth metal) = Ba, Ca, Sr, ...), which are positioned in a holding element made of non-ferromagnetic material and sealed on one side, is only separated by a vacuum gap necessary for thermal insulation and the wall thickness of a vacuum-tight non-ferromagnetic material, is arranged on a flow channel or on a solid body / product and the / which is connected to a torsion element on the side facing away from the vacuum gap via a rod, whereby a suitable sensor for detecting the torsion is provided. Mirror-symmetrically to this magnetized component, a second, but non-magnetizable body (dummy) is rigidly connected to the torsion element via a further rod. The unit consisting of the magnetized and the non-magnetizable component, the two rods, the torsion element and the sensor is arranged in a cryostat, which realizes a temperature lower than the critical temperature of the high-temperature superconductor material. The magnetic field of the magnetized component (s) made of high-temperature superconductor materials penetrates the flow channel with the electrically conductive substance or into the solid electrically conductive substance, whereby a Lorentz force is generated as a result of the relative movement between the magnetic field and the electrically conductive substance, which is generated via the magnetized component High-temperature superconductor materials and the connecting rod in the torsion element causes a torsion proportional to the Lorentz force, the latter being recorded with the aid of the sensor and fed to an evaluation and computing unit. In the evaluation and computing unit, the flow velocity or the electrical conductivity of electrically conductive fluids or the electrical conductivity of materials and products or macroscopic defects, such as voids, slag inclusions, impurities, cracks, etc., in electrically conductive materials and products can be determined from these measured values known relative speed.

All structural components are made of non-ferromagnetic materials. These include austenitic stainless steels, aluminum, copper and their alloys. In order to keep the mass of the force measuring system to a minimum and still ensure the necessary cryogenic resistance and sufficient vacuum tightness, however, high-performance plastics such as PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) and especially GRP (glass fiber composites) are preferred.

In
Higher peak values B 0 are obtained if the high-temperature superconductor bulks are treated during magnetization with higher external fields B ex at lower temperatures T <T c . LN 2 allows up to 63 K by pumping. Lower temperatures can be achieved with other coolants (see Table 1). The use of cryocoolers is also possible.
The magnetic fields generated by high-temperature superconductor bulks are particularly suitable for the local inspection of moving electrically conductive materials with regard to the determination of deep-lying, smaller defects. Bulks <30 mm, preferably 10 mm, should be selected for this. For measuring the flow velocity, the device according to the invention with a magnetized high-temperature superconductor bulk can advantageously be used for those applications in which the average velocity of laminar flowing substances in ducts is to be determined for process control and process control, because in the middle of the duct, where the flow velocity is maximum , a small measurement volume V is penetrated with a large magnetic flux density and at the edge of the channel, where the velocities are lower, smaller flux densities penetrate a significantly larger measurement volume V. Are the velocities to be determined small (up to 1 mm / s) and / or the electrical ones to be determined Conductivities are low (up to 1 mS / m) and / or the defect size is <1 mm, so several rigidly connected, magnetized components made of high-temperature superconductor materials can be used - preferably multi-seeded YBCO bulks produced by melt texturing.
