Description
The invention relates to an exhaust path for an internal combustion engine, an internal combustion engine with such an exhaust path and a method for agglomerating soot particles in the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine.
In particular, in internal combustion engines, which are operated with a diesel combustion process, there is the problem of a comparatively high proportion of soot particles in the exhaust gas, which are problematic under emission law and health aspects. Currently exist for the so-called off-road area, that is for internal combustion engines, not in the context of normal road traffic, but rather, for example, in the marine field, as stationary internal combustion engines for power generation, for driving pumps or other purposes, for driving commercial vehicles outside the Road traffic, such as construction vehicles, mine vehicles, defense vehicles or the like, limits on the mass of particles to be emitted. These can usually be met by internal engine measures. Where this is not possible, or for other reasons particulate filtering is desired, particulate filter systems are used but have several disadvantages. Thus occurs in the exhaust line of the engine equipped with a particulate filter system, a pressure loss, which leads to increased fuel consumption, ash storage capacity must be kept for accumulating ash in the filter, with further maintenance intervals - especially for ash cleaning - shorten, and not least an increased space requirement for the entire exhaust aftertreatment results. In the future, there will also be limit values for the emitted particle number in the off-road sector, especially since it has been found that even small particles can have serious disadvantages for the health. For a given particle mass, the simple connection is that the particle size is the smaller, the higher the particle number. In order to sufficiently reduce the number of particles, internal engine measures are unlikely to be sufficient in the future alone. It would then be necessary to equip even those off-road internal combustion engines with particulate filters, where this is previously omitted. But this again results in the previously mentioned disadvantages.
The invention has for its object to provide an exhaust path for an internal combustion engine, an internal combustion engine with such an exhaust path and a method for agglomerating soot particles in the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine, said disadvantages do not occur.
The object is achieved by providing the subject matters of the independent claims. Advantageous embodiments emerge from the subclaims.
The object is achieved in particular by providing an exhaust gas path for an internal combustion engine, which has an exhaust gas turbine. The exhaust path also has a first line section arranged upstream of the exhaust gas turbine and fluidically connected to the exhaust gas turbine. Unless otherwise explained, terms such as "upstream" and "downstream" refer to a proper flow direction of the exhaust gas in the exhaust path when it is used in combination with an internal combustion engine as the exhaust path for the internal combustion engine during operation thereof. The exhaust gas path also has a second line section, which opens out at an outlet from the first line section, wherein it - viewed in the flow direction of an exhaust gas flow through the first line section - flows upstream of the Ausmündestelle at a junction in the first line section, wherein the second line section is established in order to branch off a portion of exhaust gas flowing along the first line section at the outlet point and to return it to the injection point, wherein in the first line section and / or in the second line section at least one exhaust gas flow delay device is arranged which is adapted to move along the first and / or or the second line section to delay flowing exhaust gas flow. The residence time of particles contained in the exhaust gas flow upstream of the exhaust gas turbine is increased by the exhaust gas flow delay device and the thus delayed exhaust gas flow, the particle number and in particular the particle size distribution being influenced by coagulation of the particles due to this extended residence time. A return of a partial flow of the exhaust gas via the second line section from the Ausmündestelle to the injection point is advantageous because so already grown by agglomeration, larger particles can be returned to a point upstream of the Ausmündestelle where they at a location where the particle size distribution still too As a result, smaller particles can be displaced towards smaller particle sizes, like magnets or vacuum cleaners can act for smaller particles and collect or trap them, so that the particle growth continues to progress, and the particle size distribution is even more strongly changed towards larger particles. In fact, smaller particles diffuse much more than larger ones, with the larger particles providing a larger surface area for agglomerating the smaller particles. The combination of these effects with each other gives the described "vacuum cleaner effect", with particles of different sizes stronger agglomerate than is the case with the isolated occurrence of a particle size. In addition, the increased pressure in the operation of the exhaust path upstream of the exhaust gas turbine, the concentration of the particles is increased in the exhaust gas, so resulting in shorter for agglomeration advantageously shorter distances for particle collisions compared to an arrangement downstream of the exhaust gas turbine. Furthermore, upstream of the exhaust gas turbine in operation, an elevated temperature, whereby the Brownian molecular motion of the particles is enhanced, which also promotes agglomeration. Although the exhaust gas density increased upstream of the exhaust gas turbine can have a negative effect, this sum is more than compensated for by the positive effects of the higher temperature and the higher pressure. With the aid of the two conduit paths and the exhaust gas flow delay device, it is thus possible to shift the particle size distribution very efficiently in the direction of a higher average particle size and thus, in particular, to reduce the particle number for a given particle mass. If now limit values of the particle mass are maintained by internal engine measures, at the same time a particle number limit value can be maintained by the exhaust gas path proposed here, without, moreover, requiring particle filtration. This eliminates all the disadvantages associated with a particulate filter device for an internal combustion engine equipped with the exhaust path. In addition, part of the soot particles can already be oxidized by the higher residence time at the higher temperature level upstream of the exhaust gas turbine, which at the same time lowers the particle mass and also the particle number.
The second line section discharges in particular with a first end at the outlet from the first line section, wherein it opens with a - the first end along the second line section fluidly opposite - second end at the point of entry into the first line section.
The fact that the exhaust gas flow delay device is arranged to delay the exhaust gas flow flowing along the first and / or second line section means, in particular, that the exhaust gas lingers longer in the first line section and / or in the second line section due to the exhaust flow delay device than after the outside upstream - the exhaust gas flow delay device present flow rate and the length of the first and / or second line section is expected. Such a delay may in particular result from a reduction in the flow rate of the exhaust gas and / or by lengthening of the flow path in the first and / or second line section, for example by baffling, that is to say in particular fluidic installations, deflections and / or baffles.
If the exhaust gas flow delay device is arranged in the first line section, it is preferably arranged fluidically between the inlet point and the outlet point.
The exhaust gas turbine may be part of an exhaust gas turbocharger, wherein it is drive-connected with a compressor arranged or arrangeable in a charging path of an internal combustion engine. But it can also be a power turbine, the output shaft, for example, for mechanical support of an internal combustion engine with this, for example, associated with a crankshaft gear drive the same, or can be operatively connected to an electric machine for generating electrical power. The electric machine is preferably designed as a generator.
According to one development of the invention, it is provided that the exhaust gas flow delay device has a line section region which has a flow cross section which, compared to a flow cross section of the remaining line segment comprising the exhaust gas flow delay device outside the exhaust flow delay device, ie the first line section and / or or the second line section, is increased. In particular, the exhaust gas flow delay device is preferably designed as such a line section region of the corresponding line section. It is possible for the line section region and thus also the exhaust gas flow delay device to be designed as a through-flowed cavity, expanded in its inner diameter compared to the remaining line section having the exhaust gas flow delay device, preferably as a container with such an expanded inner diameter. By extending the flow cross section in the line section region, a delay of the exhaust gas flow can be achieved in a structurally very simple way. Such an exhaust gas flow delay device designed as a line section region with an enlarged flow cross section is particularly preferably arranged in the first line section.
According to one embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the exhaust gas flow delay device has an exhaust gas chaff line. In this context, an exhaust gas duct route is understood to mean, in particular, an exhaust gas line which comprises at least one fluidic installation, at least one guide plate and / or at least one diversion in order to deflect the exhaust gas flow passing through the exhaust gas line out of a straight flow direction and / or at least once, preferably by at least 90 °. As a result, compared to the length measured in the direct, in particular straight, direction of the exhaust gas flow delay device, the flow path for the exhaust gas in the exhaust gas flow delay device can be extended so that the exhaust gas flow itself is also delayed. At the same time, such an exhaust gas chaff line results in a narrower residence time distribution for the exhaust gas flow. Preferably, the exhaust gas duct distance comprises a plurality of deflections for the exhaust gas flow. The deflections can be formed in particular by vanes or baffles. The exhaust gas flow delay device particularly preferably has a container provided with guide vanes or baffles, in particular offset with respect to one another, wherein it is preferably designed as such a container. An exhaust gas delay device with an exhaust gas chaff line is particularly preferably arranged in the second line section. In particular, it is possible for particles branched off from the exhaust gas flow in the second line section to agglomerate in the exhaust gas flow delay device at the outlet point and form larger particles which are then advantageously recirculated at the injection point into the exhaust gas flow flowing along the first line section, where they are in turn smaller Collect particles and continue to grow. The agglomeration of the particles can thus be carried out particularly efficiently and, correspondingly, the particle size distribution can be shifted very effectively in the direction of larger average particle sizes. At the same time the particle number is lowered.
According to one embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the exhaust gas flow delay device has a pipe section whose inner diameter varies along the longitudinal extension of the pipe section, wherein the inner diameter of the pipe section preferably alternately - particularly preferably periodically - larger and smaller. The pipe section may in particular have a wavy wall, in particular a quasi-peristaltic structure. As a result of the variation of the inner diameter, flow velocity and pressure variations, which have an advantageous effect on the agglomeration of the soot particles, arise in the pipe section - local and / or temporal. Particularly preferably, the change in the inner diameter of the pipe section is matched to an internal combustion engine to be operated with the exhaust gas path, so that waves standing in the pipe section are formed. As a result, the agglomeration can be supported particularly efficiently. The inner diameter variation of the tube section is preferably matched to a firing sequence of the internal combustion engine, which is preferably operated under stationary conditions and in particular at a constant rotational speed, so that shock wave compression can be used for particle agglomeration.
Such an exhaust gas flow delay device, which has a pipe section with a varying inner diameter, is particularly preferably arranged in the first pipe section.
In particular, it is provided that the first line section and / or the second line section is / are free of a Rußabscheidereinrichtung, which is adapted to separate soot particles from the exhaust gas. Such a Rußabscheidereinrichtung is no longer required in the proposed here exhaust path, since limits for the particle mass can be met by internal engine measures, the particle number can be kept very efficiently by the specific design of the exhaust path and in particular the Abgasstromverzögerungseinrichtung within the limits provided.
In particular, the first line section and / or the second line section has / have no electrical Rußabscheidereinrichtung, no catalytic Rußabscheidereinrichtung and / or no cyclone separator. Thus, the exhaust gas path proposed here can be made particularly cost-effective, although the relevant limit values for the particle mass and the particle number can nevertheless be met. The fact that the first line section and / or the second line section is / are free of a Rußabscheidereinrichtung means in particular that they have no Such Rußabscheidereinrichtung.
According to one development of the invention, it is provided that the first line section has a flow constriction at the point of confluence of the second line section into which the second line section opens. In this way, the flow velocity of the exhaust gas stream at the location of the injection point in the first line section can be increased and at the same time the hydrodynamic pressure can be lowered so that the exhaust gas flow from the second line section into the first line section is actively promoted by the then prevailing pressure conditions. In particular, a Venturi tube or a Venturi nozzle can be provided at the location of the injection point in the first line section, so that the venturi effect for conveying the exhaust gas flow through the second line section can be used. The second line section is preferably otherwise free of a conveyor. Rather, the prevailing at the place of the Einmündestelle pressure conditions, in particular due to the arranged there Venturi tube or the Venturi nozzle to Conveying the exhaust gas along the second line section. Thus, can be dispensed with active components or components such as a pump, and the operation of the exhaust path can be purely passive and without additional power supply. Thereby, the exhaust path can be designed particularly cost-effective and space-saving. The venturi effect has the further advantage that a pressure drop in the main exhaust gas flow along the first line section is small.
According to one embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the exhaust path has an exhaust gas flow switching device which is set up in order to block or bypass the second line section and / or the exhaust gas flow delay device depending on the parameter. This takes into account the fact that the delayed exhaust gas flow can be unfavorable for the transient behavior of the exhaust gas turbine. In order to be able to provide a rapid response for the exhaust gas turbine and thus increase the dynamics of the equipped with the exhaust path engine, therefore, the exhaust gas flow switching device is preferably provided by which the residence time in the exhaust path for the exhaust gas upstream of the exhaust gas turbine can be reduced. As a result, the response of the exhaust gas turbine can be improved, in particular in transient operating states. Accordingly, the exhaust gas flow switching device is in particular designed to block or bypass the second line section and / or the exhaust gas flow delay device in a transient operating state of the internal combustion engine equipped with the exhaust gas path.
Particularly preferably, however, the exhaust path is used in combination with an internal combustion engine which is stationary and preferably operated in a stationary operating state and at a constant speed, for example for stationary power generation or for driving stationary pumps or the like. In this case, transient operating states and thus also the response of the exhaust gas turbine play only a minor role.
The exhaust gas flow switching device preferably has at least one valve device and / or at least one exhaust gas flap. Particularly preferably, it is possible that the exhaust gas flow switching device comprises a 4/2-way ball valve or a 4/2-way valve, by which the second line section and / or the Abgasstromverzögerungseinrichtung can be acted upon or bypassed with exhaust gas as needed / can.
The object is also achieved by providing an internal combustion engine having an exhaust path according to one of the embodiments described above. In particular, the advantages which have already been explained in connection with the exhaust gas path are realized in connection with the internal combustion engine. The internal combustion engine is preferably set up for an off-road operation, in particular for the drive of at least mainly not used in road traffic commercial vehicles, such as construction machinery, mining vehicles such as dump trucks, or the like. The internal combustion engine can also be used in a rail vehicle. Alternatively, the internal combustion engine is preferably set up for use in the maritime sector, in particular for driving a watercraft, in particular a ship, or an amphibious vehicle. The internal combustion engine is very particularly preferably set up for a stationary application, in particular for stationary power generation or for driving stationary conveying devices, for example pumps or the like. Preferably, the internal combustion engine in a stationary operating point, in particular at a constant speed - for example, to drive an electric synchronous machine - operated. Preferably, the internal combustion engine is designed as a reciprocating piston engine.
In particular, it is provided that the first line section is arranged downstream of an outlet valve associated with a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine, whereby at the same time also the inlet point and the outlet point are arranged downstream of the outlet valve. Particularly preferably, the first line section is arranged downstream of an exhaust manifold of the internal combustion engine, in particular immediately downstream of the exhaust valve and / or the exhaust manifold. The first line section preferably connects the exhaust valve or the exhaust manifold with the exhaust gas turbine.
According to one embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the internal combustion engine is free of a particle filter. In particular, this means that the internal combustion engine has no particle filter or that the engine is not assigned a particulate filter. The internal combustion engine can preferably be operated without a particulate filter and thus also without the disadvantages associated with such a particulate filter, whereby nevertheless predetermined limit values for the emission of particles, in particular limit values for the particulate mass and also for the particle number, can be maintained.
Finally, the object is also achieved by providing a method for agglomerating soot particles in the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine, which has the following steps: An exhaust gas flow is arranged along a first line section arranged upstream of an exhaust gas turbine passed an exhaust path. A partial flow is branched off from the exhaust gas flow at an outflow point of the first line section. The partial flow is returned via a second line section from the Ausmündestelle to a - seen along the first line section in the flow direction of the exhaust stream - upstream of the Ausmündestelle arranged injection point in the first line section. The recirculated partial flow is introduced into the exhaust gas flow at the injection point, and the exhaust gas flow in the first line section and / or the partial flow in the second line section is / are delayed.
In the method, an exhaust gas path according to one of the previously described embodiments is preferably used, or the method is used in an internal combustion engine according to one of the embodiments described above. In connection with the method, in particular, the advantages that have already been explained in connection with the exhaust path and the internal combustion engine.
Particularly preferably, the partial flow is conveyed along the second line section by a Venturi effect, wherein the Venturi effect preferably at the location of the injection point, in particular by means of a Venturi tube or a Venturi nozzle in the first line section, but generally with a flow constriction of the first Line section, in which the second line section opens, is generated. In particular, it requires no additional promotion of the partial flow. Thus, the partial flow is preferably conveyed exclusively by the Venturi effect along the second line section.
