Description
The invention relates to an RTM tool for producing a fiber composite component with an RTM method by injection of a resin into a semi-finished fiber product by a resin injection system.
Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) or resin injection molding is a process for the production of long- or continuous fiber-reinforced fiber composite components in small, medium and sometimes even large series. By means of the method, both fiber composite hollow profiles, fiber composite shell components and flat fiber composite components can be produced by impregnating a semi-finished fiber product by injecting a matrix material, such as a resin. For this purpose, the semi-finished fiber product is inserted as near-net-shape preform in a mold cavity, which is formed as a negative form of the fiber composite component to be produced by a usually two-part tool. The resin is introduced through channels in the tool with the most constant volume flow or pressure in the semi-finished fiber product or the mold cavity. During the injection, the resin flows through the fiber layers of the fiber composite component and can emerge after the impregnation on the risers. The filling of the mold cavity is followed by the hardening of the resin, if necessary under the influence of temperature and / or overpressure relative to the ambient pressure. After curing of the fiber composite component, it can be removed from the tool.

The invention is therefore based on the object to overcome the aforementioned disadvantages and to provide a cheap, easy to manufacture tool for the RTM method available that allows the matrix material to flow over the entire length of the component with the same pressure.
This object is achieved by the feature combination according to
According to the invention, an RTM tool for producing a fiber composite component with an RTM method is proposed for this purpose. A resin is injected into a semi-finished fiber which is arranged in the mold cavity formed by the RTM tool. The RTM tool comprises a resin injection system comprising at least one resin introduction channel, at least one resin distribution channel, and at least one group of more than two resin injection channels. The at least one resin introduction channel is connected to the at least one resin distribution channel, the at least one resin distribution channel is connected to the resin injection channels of the at least one group of more than two resin injection channels, and the resin injection channels of the at least one group of more than two resin injection channels are connected to at least one surface of the mold cavity of the RTM tool fluidly connected so that the resin from the resin injection channels can flow to the surface. A resin which is introduced into the tool via the resin introduction channel or sprue flows via the resin distribution channel into the resin injection channels and from there into the mold cavity.
The at least one resin distribution channel has a resin distribution channel flow area over its entire length in a resin flow direction that is many times greater than or at least can be a resin injection channel flow area of the resin injection channels. Alternatively, or in addition to the resin distribution channel flow area, the at least one resin distribution channel has at its first end located on the at least one resin introduction channel a first resin distribution channel flow area larger than a second resin distribution channel flow area in a region opposite to the first end is spaced in the resin flow direction. By one of these forms or a combination thereof, an injection pressure of the resin in the at least one resin distribution channel is substantially constant and substantially equal in the resin injection channels of the at least one group of more than two resin injection channels. The flow cross sections are the cross sections of the channels orthogonal to the respective channel longitudinal axes, which are traversed by the matrix or can be flowed through at maximum. The pressure in the respective channels can be measured, for example, via a suitable pressure gauge.
Since a very large length of a channel opposite the flow cross-section favors an inhomogeneous pressure distribution or a non-constant pressure profile over the entire length of the channel, in each case a flow cross-section-length ratio of the respective channel is selected, which is a substantially constant pressure over the length of the channel favored.
The mold cavity is formed as negative of a fiber composite hollow profile, fiber composite shell component or a flat fiber composite component.
The resin flow direction is the flow direction of the resin directed from the at least one resin introduction channel into the at least one resin distribution channel, into at least one group of more than two resin injection channels, and from the resin injection channels into the at least one mold cavity.
In an advantageous embodiment, the resin injection channel flow area of the resin injection channels and the resin distribution channel flow area of the at least one resin distribution channel are round.
Die runde Durchflussquerschnittsform begünstigt eine gleichmäßige Druckverteilung. The round flow cross-sectional shape promotes a uniform pressure distribution.
Further, an embodiment is advantageous in which the first resin distribution channel flow area and the second resin distribution channel flow area of the at least one resin distribution channel are round.
In an advantageous further development form, the RTM tool comprises a first mold half and a second mold half, each forming part of the mold cavity, and the first mold half and / or the second mold half having the resin injection system. The resin injection system may be formed only in the first and / or second mold half by, for example, bores or cast channels. First and second mold halves may alternatively or additionally form a resin injection system together. The tool halves separate the mold cavity in a division plane. The dividing plane separates the resin injection system into a first half which lies in the first mold half and a second half which lies in the second mold half. The resin distribution channel and the resin injection channels are respectively defined in the plane of the channel axes, i. divided along its longitudinal axis. Again, the first and second mold halves may be divided into multiple layers, with two contiguous layers forming a common resin injection system. If two contiguous layers form a resin injection system, the resin injection channels do not have to be in the dividing plane of the two adjacent layers.
Another advantage is a further embodiment in which the RTM tool comprises a fiber composite component core, which is at least partially disposed within a cavity formed by the mold cavity. The fiber composite component core comprises the resin injection system and the resin injection channels are connected to the at least one resin distribution channel in the fiber composite component core and to a surface of the fiber composite component core forming part of the mold cavity. The fiber composite component core is alternatively formed completely in the cavity defined by the mold cavity. The resin enters the resin injection system of the fiber composite component core from the semifinished fiber product via the resin introduction channel connected to the void-facing surface of the fiber composite component core, and is directed from the resin distribution channel of the fiber composite component core to the resin injection channels of the fiber composite component core. Of the resin injection channels of the fiber composite component core, the resin is injected back into the semifinished fiber product by the pressure of the trailing resin.
Also advantageous is a design variant in which the mold cavity along its cavity facing inner wall surface or surface forms a plurality of resin distribution grooves and each resin distribution groove of the plurality of resin distribution grooves is connected to the resin injection channel of the at least one group of more than two resin injection channels. Due to the resin distribution grooves, the resin spreads over a larger area at the mold cavity and more uniformly penetrates from the resin distribution grooves into the semifinished fiber product. The channels also serve to relieve the transition points of the resin injection channel to the mold cavity, since the resin would otherwise penetrate punctually in these areas in the semifinished fiber.
If a resin distribution groove cross-section of the resin distribution groove is circular over at least part of its contour, this likewise constitutes an advantageous development since a more uniform pressure distribution is achieved by this contour.
A further development example in which the at least one group of more than two resin injection channels comprises at least ten resin injection channels is advantageous, since the matrix can be more uniformly distributed and introduced via the mold cavity due to a higher number of resin injection channels.
The fiber composite core is formed as a permanent or as a lost shape.
An advantageous embodiment is when the resin injection channels of the at least one group of more than two resin injection channels are arranged uniformly over a length of the mold cavity such that the resin uniformly penetrates the resin injection channels of the at least one group of more than two resin injection channels along the length of the mold cavity Fiber semi-finished, which can be brought to the surface of the mold cavity for investment, injectable. The uniform distribution over a length, such as the total length of the mold cavity along the major axis of the mold cavity, and the optimization of the flow paths of the resin through the injection channel system for an identical flow time of the resin through the injection channel system from the resin introduction channel to the mold cavity is uniform of the resin in the mold cavity and thus reachable in the semifinished fiber product.
Furthermore, an advantageous embodiment is provided if the resin injection channels of the at least one group of more than two resin injection channels are arranged over a length of the mold cavity with a distance of at least 2 cm from each other.
The features disclosed above can be combined in any way that is technically possible and they do not contradict each other.
Es zeigen: Other advantageous developments of the invention are characterized in the subclaims or are shown in more detail below together with the description of the preferred embodiment of the invention with reference to FIGS. Show it:
The figures are exemplary schematic. Like reference numerals in the figures indicate like functional and / or structural features.
The invention is not limited in its execution to the above-mentioned preferred embodiments. Rather, a number of variants is conceivable, which makes use of the illustrated solution even with fundamentally different types of use. For example, the resin injection channels may have mutually different lengths to compensate for unequal flow times of the resin in the resin injection channels.
