Description
Stand der TechnikState of the art
The invention is based on a method according to the preamble of patent claim 1. Furthermore, the invention is based on a device according to the preamble of
Such projection methods can be used in miniaturized projection devices for mobile communication devices such. B. for mobile phones, smartphones, tablet computers and laptops. These devices usually have a laser resonator and at least one deflecting element in the form of a micromirror for deflecting the laser beam. The deflection element is usually deflected in a first direction in order to guide the laser beam line by line over the projection surface. Starting from a deflection position of the deflection element - in which the laser beam reaches the edge of the projection region - the laser beam is deflected in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The laser beam is thus moved back and forth over the projection surface.
The radiation power delivered by the laser resonator is limited by safety specifications which are intended to prevent unwanted damage to the eyes. On the one hand, there are specifications concerning the maximum permissible radiant power for the single scanning of the eye. On the other hand, there are specifications for scanning the eye twice in quick succession. Usually, the latter criterion limits the radiation power of the laser resonator. Because at the edge of the projection surface - where the scanning direction of the laser beam is reversed - the same area of the projection surface is scanned in quick succession twice in succession with the laser beam. Therefore, in order to meet the safety specifications according to the second criterion, it is often necessary to reduce the radiation power of the laser resonator, which reduces the brightness when projecting an image onto the projection surface.
Offenbarung der ErfindungDisclosure of the invention
It is an object of the present invention to increase the radiation power in compliance with safety regulations.
The inventive method according to claim 1 and the apparatus according to
The dimming time is preferably selected such that within the dimming time the laser beam scans a path which has a length which is less than 15% of the extent of the projection area in the first direction, preferably less than 10%, particularly preferably less than 8%, for example 7.5%. These values have proven to be particularly suitable for increasing the radiant power.
According to a preferred embodiment of the method, the laser beam is superimposed until it reaches the deflection position of the deflection element, so that the edge region of the projection surface can be scanned with the laser beam. Thus, the laser beam scans the projection surface before reaching the deflection position of the deflection.
An embodiment has proven to be advantageous in which the laser beam is dimmed by switching off the laser resonator. The shutdown of the laser resonator can be done electrically and has the advantage that no mechanical components are required for dimming. In the case of a laser resonator designed as a semiconductor laser, the switching off can take place, for example, by reducing a supply voltage.
According to an alternative advantageous embodiment, the laser beam is dimmed by operating a dimming device. The dimming device may have an open position in which the laser beam can pass the dimming device and a closed position in which the laser beam is blocked. Preferably, the dimming device is designed as a mechanical diaphragm or mechanical closure. Alternatively, the dimming device can be configured as a beam trap.
It has also proven to be advantageous if the distance between the deflection element and the projection surface is determined and the radiation power of the laser resonator is set as a function of the determined distance. The The maximum permissible radiation power according to the existing safety specifications for laser projection devices is often dependent on the distance from the projection surface. By determining the distance, for example by means of a distance sensor or a proximity sensor, it is possible to set the radiation power of the laser resonator such that it does not exceed the permissible value for the respective distance to the projection surface.
In this context, it is particularly preferred if the distance between the deflection element and the projection surface is determined and the laser beam is dimmed when the distance falls below a predetermined minimum distance.
A preferred embodiment provides that the deflection element is deflected in the second direction until it reaches a further deflection position and is deflected starting from the further deflection position in the first direction, wherein upon reaching the further deflection position, the laser beam is dimmed for the duration of the predetermined dimming and the laser beam is faded in after the dimming time has elapsed.
It is advantageous if the deflection element is deflected in a direction perpendicular to the first direction third direction, so that two dimensions of the projection surface can be scanned.
An alternative advantageous embodiment provides that the laser beam is deflected by means of two deflecting elements, in particular by means of two micromirrors, onto the projection surface, a first deflecting element being deflected in a first direction until it reaches a deflecting position and starting from the deflecting position in one of the first directions opposite second direction is deflected, and a second deflecting element is deflected in a direction perpendicular to the first direction third direction. Also in this way it is possible to scan two dimensions of the projection surface.
The advantageous features explained above in connection with the method for scanning a projection surface with a laser beam can also be used in the apparatus according to the invention for scanning a projection surface with a laser beam alone or in combination.
The laser resonator is preferably a laser resonator of a semiconductor laser. The deflection element or elements are preferably micromirrors, particularly preferably micromirrors designed as MEMS (microelectromechanical system). Alternatively, the one or more deflecting elements may be formed as a semitransparent mirror, for example made of glass.
