Description
The present invention relates to a method for producing a fiber-reinforced plastic component.
So-called sheet-molding compound components (SMC) are known from the prior art. High-performance SMCs are also known for the development of a plastic component for high-strength applications. On the one hand, carbon fiber is used as the reinforcing fiber, and on the other hand, a high fiber volume content is produced in the composite in order to be able to use such structural components also for structural components in the automotive industry. Here, a semi-finished fiber product is first generated, are arranged in the reinforcing fibers in a matrix. This semi-finished product is generally cut into a rectangular mat and the blanks are then stacked into a blank package. Thereafter, the semifinished product is placed in a dipping edge tool and pressed, wherein the matrix of the semifinished product hardens. After demolding, protruding areas can be separated.
Starting from this prior art, it is the object of the present invention to provide a method which overcomes the disadvantages of the prior art. Moreover, it is a particular object of the invention to provide a method by means of which components can be produced which, even with complex geometries, have high mechanical properties, in particular with regard to rigidity.
This object is achieved by a method having the features of independent claim 1. Advantageous embodiments are given in the dependent claims.
To solve this problem, the invention proposes a method for producing a fiber-reinforced plastic component, comprising the steps of: introducing a first semi-finished fiber product into a pressing tool, introducing at least one second semifinished fiber product into the pressing tool, wherein the second semifinished fiber product comprises reinforcing fibers arranged in a curable matrix and wherein the first semi-finished fiber product has a higher fiber volume fraction than the second semi-finished fiber product. The fiber volume fraction for the purposes of this invention is to be understood as the ratio of the volume of the fiber based on the sum of the volume of the fibers and the volume of the matrix within a defined reference volume. Based on a predefined reference volume, the first semifinished fiber product thus has a smaller proportion of resin material (and thus a higher proportion of fibers) than the second semifinished fiber product. Alternatively, the first semifinished fiber can also be completely dry, i. Unbeharzt be formed, whereby the proportion of the resin material assumes the value zero. Of course, the sequence when introducing the semi-finished products can also be reversed, wherein first a second semi-finished fiber product and then a first semi-finished fiber product is introduced. Thereafter, the first and the second semifinished fiber product is subjected to pressure and / or temperature in the pressing tool, wherein the matrix material of the second semifinished fiber product at least partially infiltrates the fibers of the first semifinished fiber product. This method has the advantage that the fiber volume content of the finished component is not firmly defined in the respective semi-finished product, but is controlled by the pressing tool during the pressing process. In addition, this method can produce highly load-bearing constructions. The second semifinished fiber product causes a local increase in the fiber content in the finished component. By suitable positioning of the second semi-finished fiber so load paths can be selectively reinforced. This is a significant advantage over quasi-isotropic components known in the art.
Preferably, the first semifinished fiber product comprises dry fibers, wherein no matrix material is arranged thereon. In this case, the fiber volume content of the first semifinished fiber product is the greatest since no matrix material is present in the reference volume. These dry fibers may be formed as a single fiber, as a fiber strand - so-called roving - as a scrim, as a woven fabric, as a knit or as a braid. Optionally, the first semi-finished fiber product may also be formed in multiple layers. When the semifinished fiber product is formed as a scrim, it is advisable to use unidirectional carbon fiber fiber-oriented fibers. By using unimpregnated or dry fibers as the first semifinished fiber product, the matrix of the second semifinished fiber product can infiltrate particularly well the fibers of the first semifinished fiber product. In other words, when the two semifinished fiber products are subjected to pressure and / or temperature, the fibers of the first semifinished fiber product are pressed into the second semifinished fiber product, wherein the matrix of the second semifinished fiber product encloses the fibers of the first semifinished fiber product. This is locally at this point, the fiber volume content in the finished component increased, so that the mechanical properties of the component are improved at this point.
Preferably, the second semi-finished fiber product is formed as a sheet-molding compound. Such a component has the advantage that it comprises all the starting materials necessary for completion, namely matrix material and fibers. An SMC fiber composite material generally comprises a thermosetting resin matrix in which short fibers or long fibers are embedded. Rarer, but not excluded, continuous fibers can also be provided in the SMC. When introducing this second semifinished fiber product into the pressing tool, it may have a plate-like shape and / or a dough-like consistency. When pressurized with temperature and pressure by pressing, the matrix material can thus well infiltrate the fibers of the first semifinished fiber product.
Additionally or alternatively, the pressing tool can have receptacles into which excess matrix material of the second semifinished fiber product can penetrate when pressure is applied to the semi-finished fiber products and / or temperature. As a result of this targeted removal of the excess matrix material, it is thus additionally possible to locally increase the fiber volume content.
Furthermore, prior to the introduction of the first semifinished fiber product, a resin-permeable membrane can be introduced into the tool which at least partially covers the receptacle and is impermeable to the fibers of the first semifinished fiber product and / or to the fibers of the second semifinished fiber product. As a result, during pressing, the excess matrix material of the second semifinished fiber product is forced through the film, while the reinforcing fibers themselves are retained. The membrane, which may be formed as a foil or as a tear-off fabric, is removed in a subsequent process step. The removal preferably takes place after demolding of the finished component from the pressing tool, with excess matrix material adhering to the membrane.
Additionally or alternatively, both recordings that are covered with a membrane, as well as recordings that are uncovered, may include a vacuum generating device with which excess matrix material of the second semifinished fiber product can be sucked into at least one receptacle. This offers the advantage of a particularly good discharge of the excess matrix material. As a result, the fiber volume content is additionally increased locally, is sucked in the matrix material or pure resin.
The reinforcing fibers may be organic or inorganic reinforcing fibers. The reinforcing fibers may be, for example, carbon fibers. These form with the plastic matrix a carbon fiber reinforced plastic, also called CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic, CFRP). The associated FRP component is then a CFRP component. The reinforcing fibers can also be glass fibers, for example. These form with the plastic matrix a glass fiber reinforced plastic, also called GRP. The associated FRP component is then a GRP component. However, the invention is not limited thereto, and the reinforcing fibers may, for. Example, aramid fibers, polyester fibers, nylon fibers, polyethylene fibers, PMMA fibers, basalt fibers, boron fibers, ceramic fibers, silica fibers, steel fibers and / or natural fibers.
The material of the plastic matrix may in particular comprise one or more thermoplastics (thermoplastics) and / or duroplastic plastics (thermosetting plastics). Fiber-reinforced plastics with a thermoplastic matrix have the advantage that they can be subsequently reshaped or welded. Suitable thermoplastics include, for example: polyether ether ketone (PEEK), polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), polysulfone (PSU), polyetherimide (PEI) and / or polytetrafluoroethene (PTFE). Fiber-reinforced plastics with a thermosetting matrix can not be reshaped after curing or crosslinking of the matrix. They advantageously have a high temperature range of use. This is especially true for hot-curing systems that cure under high temperatures. Fiber-reinforced plastics with duroplastic matrix usually have the highest strengths. As thermosetting plastics or matrix z. For example, the following resins are used: epoxy resin (EP), unsaturated polyester resin (UP), vinyl ester resin (VE), phenol-formaldehyde resin (PF), diallyl phthalate resin (DAP), methacrylate resin (MMA), polyurethane (PUR), amino resins, melamine resin ( MF / MP) and / or urea resin (UF).
