Description
The present invention relates to a method and system for regenerating a particulate filter in a vehicle including a diesel engine and such a vehicle.
Due to environmental regulations, modern diesel-powered vehicles must be fitted with particulate filters located in the exhaust system of the vehicle, which filter out soot particles and fine dust from the exhaust gases. These carbonaceous particles accumulate in the operation of the particulate filter in this, so that a regular regeneration of the filter must be carried out, which is usually done by combustion of the embedded particles. Generally speaking, such a regeneration is always necessary when the particulate loading of the filter by the resulting exhaust backpressure obstructs the exhaust emissions too much.
To allow the burning of the stored particles, however, a certain minimum temperature of the exhaust gases emitted - for example, about 500 to 550 degrees Celsius - needed. However, the exhaust gas temperatures in modern engines are relatively low due to improved efficiencies, so that various techniques have been proposed to ensure a sufficiently high temperature of the exhaust gases during a regeneration process of the particulate filter.
For example, a post-injection of fuel may be performed during the expansion of the combustion stroke, which results in an increased exhaust gas temperature due to its poor efficiency. However, there is a risk of engine oil dilution and also the driving behavior of the vehicle. The response of the engine is influenced by the post-injection in a manner noticeable to the driver.
In another approach, additives are used which are added to the exhaust gases and which in a chemical process lower the temperature required to burn the particles in the filter to a level which is also reached during normal operation of the engine. However, this technique requires the provision of an additional tank for the additive and also a regular refilling of that tank, as well as additional components such as an injector for the additive.
Furthermore, it is also possible to operate the engine over a long period in a speed range which is so high that permanently sets a sufficiently high exhaust gas temperature. This can be done in the context of a so-called parked regeneration, in which the engine is idling at a high speed, or in the context of regeneration drives, in which the vehicle is moved while maintaining a high speed permanently. However, these two types of regeneration are extremely inefficient both in terms of fuel consumption and time required. In extreme cases, this type of regeneration can cause appropriate vehicles, such as diesel-powered trucks, 30 minutes are not available per shift in a plant, but regenerate parked state and consume this not insignificant amounts of diesel fuel.
It is therefore the object of the present invention to provide a method for regenerating a particulate filter in a vehicle, which eliminates the disadvantages of the prior art and allows the regeneration of the vehicle during normal service operation without additional design effort.
- – Erfassen durch die Steuer-/Regeleinheit, dass eine Regeneration des Partikelfilters durchzuführen ist;
- Detecting by the control unit that regeneration of the particulate filter is to be performed;
- - Transferring the diesel engine by the control unit from a normal operation in a regeneration operation in which a predetermined minimum speed is not exceeded; and simultaneous
- - Control / rule of the automatic transmission such that behaves at least one driving and / or working function of the vehicle in the regeneration mode substantially as in normal operation.
By using the characteristic of an automatic transmission according to the invention to compensate for an increased output speed of an engine by means of a changed ratio, working functions of the vehicle in the regeneration mode can behave essentially as in normal operation.
Furthermore, if the automatic transmission is a continuously variable transmission, then in particular the acceleration behavior of the vehicle in regeneration mode can be particularly close to that from normal operation.
In this case, the method according to the invention is not restricted to specific engine types or types of particle filters, but can be performed by a person skilled in the art according to the specifications of the engine and the particulate filter of the corresponding vehicle, for example by suitably selecting a minimum rotational speed of the regeneration operation and / or a duration of the regeneration operation.
The at least one driving and / or working function of the vehicle may be, for example, the driving speed of the vehicle, which may also depend on increased speed in the regeneration mode in the present invention in the same way, for example, on the amount of displacement of the accelerator pedal of the vehicle as in normal operation , It should be noted in this regard that the automatic transmission does not necessarily have to be assigned to the drive train of the vehicle, but can also translate the output power of the engine for other purposes, such as for hydraulically operated work functions in the case of industrial trucks or the like.
Ferner fallen keine unnötigen Standzeiten für das Fahrzeug an.Usually vehicles are operated with automatic transmission in normal operation in a speed range in which the fuel consumption of the engine is as low as possible. While, by performing the present regeneration method, fuel consumption is increased during regeneration operation, the method is still substantially more efficient than parked regeneration or regeneration cruises because during that time the vehicle is not in productive use. Furthermore, there are no unnecessary downtime for the vehicle.
In a development of the method according to the invention, the detection that a regeneration of the particulate filter is to be carried out may be based on detection signals sent by at least one sensor provided for this purpose to the control unit. This may be, for example, a sensor that measures the differential pressure across the filter, which in turn is a measure of the loading of the filter, as it increases in operation increasingly and thus provides the inflowing exhaust gases a higher resistance. However, other types of sensors are also conceivable.
On the other hand or in addition, the detection that a regeneration of the particulate filter is to be carried out can be based on the mileage recorded since the last regeneration and / or the running time of the diesel engine. This variant can be used in particular in engine filter combinations, of which it is known that a regular regeneration is sufficient. The regular regeneration can be combined in any way with the detection of the loading state of the filter, for example, even if a load state, due to which a regeneration would be necessary, is not yet detected by the corresponding sensor, then after a certain mileage of the engine, the regeneration nevertheless carried out in any case and vice versa.
In a second aspect, the present invention relates to a system for regenerating a diesel filter in a vehicle, the vehicle further comprising a diesel engine, an automatic transmission, and a control unit operatively coupled to both the diesel engine and the automatic transmission, wherein the Control unit is configured to detect whether to perform a regeneration of the particulate filter, and when it is detected that a regeneration of the particulate filter is to perform to convert the diesel engine from a normal operation in a regeneration operation with a predetermined minimum speed, and at the same time To control automatic transmission such that at least one driving and / or working function of the vehicle behaves in regeneration mode substantially as in normal operation.
Here, the system according to the invention may further comprise at least one sensor which is operatively coupled to the control unit and adapted to output detection signals indicating whether regeneration of the particulate filter is to be performed.
The automatic transmission may in particular be a continuously variable automatic transmission.
Finally, in a third aspect, the present invention relates to a diesel-powered vehicle, in particular an industrial truck, comprising a diesel engine, a particulate filter, an automatic transmission, and a control unit operatively coupled to both the diesel engine and the automatic transmission, a system is formed according to claim 4 or 5.
In this case, in one embodiment, the automatic transmission may be a continuously variable automatic transmission and in particular a hydrostatic transmission with continuously variable transmission. Such transmissions can transmit large torques and in this case have a large transmission range.
Furthermore, the vehicle according to the invention may further comprise a swivel angle pump with volumetric flow-controlled delivery volume for driving at least one working function of the vehicle.
