Description
The invention relates to an impregnated gas filter material having increased resistance to embrittlement and improved storage capacity for the separation of sticky dust from gas streams and a gas filter element comprising this filter material.
Stand der TechnikState of the art
Due to the increasing pollution of the ambient air with particulate matter and soot, the requirements for the separation efficiency of filter materials and filter elements produced therefrom are constantly increasing, for example for the areas of ventilation and air conditioning technology for buildings and vehicle interiors or for the air supply of internal combustion engines. Higher degrees of separation, especially in the particle range below 1 μm, require filter materials with small pore diameters, which however clog quite quickly and thus have only a low dust storage capacity.
The combination of pre-filter and fine filter layer has proven itself well with pure mineral dust. However, in the filtration of sticky dust, such as soot, only a small increase in dust holding capacity is achieved by the prefilter layer. It is believed that the small dust particles stick together after the pre-filter layer and thus clog the fine pores of the fine filter layer.
Another disadvantage of the combination of pre-filter and fine filter layer is their relatively large thickness. To increase the filter surface in a filter element with a given interior, the filter materials are often placed in folds. The thicker a filter material, the fewer wrinkles can be formed and the lower the available filter surface and thus the dust storage capacity of the filter element.
The invention is therefore based on the object to provide a gas filter material and a filter element with high storage capacity for sticky dusts. In addition, the gas filter material when used at high temperatures, for example under bonnets of motor vehicles, have a low embrittlement.

Detaillierte Beschreibung der Erfindung Detailed description of the invention
The gas filter material of the present invention comprises a wetlaid web and a binder wherein the wetlaid web comprises 30% to 45% by weight of synthetic fibers having a titer of 0.2-5.0 dtex. Furthermore, the wet-laid web comprises 55% by weight to 70% by weight of natural fibers, inorganic fibers or mixtures thereof.
Wet-laid nonwovens or papers in the sense of the invention are all nonwovens which can be produced with the wet-laying processes known in the art for the production of filter papers. The papers for the filter material according to the invention preferably consist of a mixture of natural and synthetic fibers. Examples of natural fibers are cellulose, cotton, wool, hemp, the cellulose material used being wood-free and / or wood-containing celluloses of coniferous and / or deciduous trees, Regenerated celluloses and fibrillated celluloses. Suitable synthetic fibers are, for example, polyester fibers, polyamide fibers, polyacrylonitrile fibers and multicomponent fibers having different melting points of the individual components. The denier of the synthetic fibers is 0.2 dtex-5 dtex and the cut length is preferably 3 mm-20 mm, particularly preferably 4 mm-12 mm. Surprisingly, it has been found that a combination of 30 wt.% - 45 wt.% Synthetic fibers with natural fibers, a very high storage capacity for sticky dusts and an excellent resistance to embrittlement is achieved. If necessary, the natural fibers may be wholly or partly replaced by inorganic fibers. Inorganic fibers are, for example, glass fiber, basalt fibers, quartz fibers and metal fibers.
In a preferred embodiment, the wet-laid web for the filter material according to the invention consists of 30% by weight to 45% by weight of polyester, polyamide, and / or polyacrylonitrile fibers having a titre of 0.2-5 dtex and 55% by weight-70% by weight .% Cellulose fibers, inorganic fibers or a mixture thereof. The wet-laid web has a basis weight of 100 g / m 2 -300 g / m 2 , a thickness of 0.2 mm-0.8 mm and an air permeability of 100-1000 l / m 2 s.
The filter material according to the invention is impregnated with a binder. In this case, the binder can either completely penetrate the filter material according to the invention or it is applied only on one side, preferably on the denser side of the wet laid web, and only partially penetrates the wet laid web, preferably at least 50% and at most 75% of its thickness.
Suitable binders are the substances known for filter papers, for example phenol resins or epoxy resins from alcoholic solutions, but also aqueous dispersions of, for example, acrylates, styrene-butadienes, polyvinyl acetates, polyurethanes, phenolic resins or mixtures thereof. Another possible class of binder is aqueous solutions of, for example, polyvinyl alcohol, melamine resin, urea resin. In addition to the liquid binders, solid, powdery binders of thermoplastic polymers can also be used. Depending on requirements, the binder may also be admixed with various auxiliary substances, such as, for example, hydrophilizing agents, water repellents, and paints.
Die Imprägnierung erfolgt nach dem bekannten Stand der Technik durch zum Beispiel Sprühen, Tauchen, Walzenauftrag, Schaumauftrag oder Bestauben. Der typische Anteil des trockenen Imprägniermittels am Gesamtgewicht des Filtermaterials beträgt 0,5–50 Gew.%, bevorzugt 5–35 Gew.%.The impregnation is carried out according to the known state of the art by, for example, spraying, dipping, roller application, foam application or dusting. The typical proportion of the dry impregnating agent in the total weight of the filter material is 0.5-50% by weight, preferably 5-35% by weight.
In a preferred embodiment, the filter material according to the invention is provided with one or more halogen and boron-free flame retardants. Preferably, in a complete impregnation of the filter material according to the invention with the binder one or more flame retardants are added directly to the binder. In the case of a single-sided binder application, the flame retardant or agents is preferably sprayed onto the non-impregnated side of the filter material according to the invention. The binder in this case is either free of flame retardants or it also contains flame retardants.
Bekannte Flammschutzmittel sind zum Beispiel Ammoniumsulfat, Ammoniumpolysulfat, Ammoniumphosphat, Antimontrioxid, Aluminiumhydroxid, Aluminiumhydrat, Magnesiumhydroxid, Magnesiumhydrat, Dicyandiamid, Guanidin, Guanidinsulfat, Guadininsulfamat, Guanidinphosphat, Polyphosphate, Phosphate.Known flame retardants are, for example, ammonium sulfate, ammonium polysulfate, ammonium phosphate, antimony trioxide, aluminum hydroxide, aluminum hydrate, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium hydrate, dicyandiamide, guanidine, guanidine sulfate, guadinine sulfamate, guanidine phosphate, polyphosphates, phosphates.
For the application of the flame retardant to the non-impregnated side in one-sided binder application, it is advantageous to fix the flame retardant directly on the fiber. This is preferably achieved by binding the flame retardant to the fiber surface. The bond may be via suitable reactive groups contained in the halogen and boron-free flame retardant, in particular the nitrogen and / or phosphorus-containing component of the flame retardant. Suitable reactive groups are, for example, methylol and / or aldehyde groups. Suitable nitrogen-containing components which can react with the fiber surface are, for example, methylol-urea, methylol-melamine-formaldehyde and reaction products of urea compounds, guanidine compounds or dicandiamide with polyfunctional compounds such as glyoxal or glutaric dialdehyde. In addition to the nitrogen-containing component, a phosphorus-containing component is needed for adequate flame retardancy. This is selected from the large number of available substances so that they either react with the nitrogen-containing component to sparingly soluble in water salts or are sparingly soluble in water in water. Phosphorus-containing components suitable for the filter material according to the invention are, for example, phosphoric esters and their salts, phosphonic acid esters and their salts, or DOPO (9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide) and its derivatives.

Beispiel 1 (Erfindung)Example 1 (Invention)
According to the well-known method of papermaking, a paper web of 60% by weight of eucalyptus cellulose and 40% by weight of polyester fibers (0.5 dtex / 5 mm) was produced in a paper machine. The paper thus prepared had a basis weight of 100 g / m 2 , a thickness of 0.49 mm, and an air permeability of 222 l / m 2 s. Subsequently, this paper was impregnated with a resole resin by means of a two-roll coating on each side and dried at 120 ° C. The impregnated paper had a basis weight of 139 g / m 2 , a thickness of 0.52 mm, an air permeability of 198 l / m 2 s. On this filter material, the embrittlement resistance was determined. The result is shown in Table 1.
Beispiel 2 (Vergleichsbeispiel)Example 2 (comparative example)
The results of Table 1 clearly show that the gas filter material according to the invention has a significantly higher embrittlement resistance than the comparative example.
