Description
The invention relates to a method for the exhaust aftertreatment of a chargeable, spark-ignited internal combustion engine and to an exhaust aftertreatment device for carrying out such a method according to the independent claims.
The continuous tightening of the exhaust emission legislation places high demands on the vehicle manufacturers, which are solved by appropriate measures for the reduction of the engine raw emissions and by a corresponding exhaust aftertreatment. With the introduction of the legislative level EU6, a limit value for gasoline engines is prescribed for a number of particles, which in many cases necessitates the use of an Otto particle filter. When driving, such a gasoline particulate filter is loaded with soot. So that the exhaust gas backpressure does not increase too much, this Otto particle filter must be regenerated continuously or periodically. In order to carry out a thermal oxidation of the soot retained in the Otto particle filter with oxygen, a sufficiently high temperature level in conjunction with simultaneously existing oxygen in the exhaust system of the gasoline engine is necessary. Since modern gasoline engines are normally operated without oxygen surplus with a stoichiometric combustion air ratio (λ = 1), additional measures are required. These come as measures, for example, a temperature increase by a Zündwinkelverstellung, a temporary lean adjustment of the gasoline engine, the injection of secondary air into the exhaust system or a combination of these measures in question. An ignition angle adjustment in the direction of late in combination with a lean adjustment of the gasoline engine is preferably used so far, since this method requires no additional components and can deliver a sufficient amount of oxygen in most operating points of the gasoline engine.

The invention is based on the object to provide an exhaust gas aftertreatment process and an exhaust aftertreatment device, in which a safe regeneration of the particulate filter is possible even during driving cycles with low load.
- Determination of a loading state of the particulate filter,
- If the loading condition requires regeneration of the particulate filter, raising the exhaust gas temperature to a regeneration temperature of the particulate filter by at least temporarily adjusting a mixture formation for the internal combustion engine to a stoichiometric (rich) combustion air ratio and at least temporarily simultaneously introducing secondary air into the exhaust duct upstream of the three-way Catalyst, where
- - The unburned components of a combustion mixture of the internal combustion engine in the exhaust duct are exothermally reacted by the secondary air, and
- - In a regeneration phase of the particulate filter, the secondary air amount is increased such that adjusts a stoichiometric mixture air ratio in the exhaust duct before entering the particulate filter, so that soot is oxidized on the particulate filter by the oxygen excess.
According to the invention, it is provided in this method that the secondary air is injected downstream of the exhaust valves of the internal combustion engine and upstream of the three-way catalyst in the exhaust duct. As a result, the unburned components in the exhaust passage on the three-way catalyst or even upstream of the three-way catalyst, for example, already in the exhaust manifold of the engine exothermic be implemented so that it comes to a heating of the exhaust gas in the exhaust duct to the regeneration of To allow particulate filters.
In its normal operation, ie before or during the determination of the loading state of the particulate filter, the internal combustion engine is operated predominantly with a stoichiometric combustion air ratio (λ E = 1).
According to a further development of the method, it is provided that in a heating phase of the particulate filter, the internal combustion engine is operated with a substoichiometric (rich) combustion air ratio λ E <1 and the secondary air quantity is adjusted, in particular regulated, such that upon entry into the three-way catalytic converter a stoichiometric mixture air ratio λ M = 1 sets. This ensures the three-way function of the three-way catalyst during the heating phase. Thus, compared with a method in which the secondary air is injected into the exhaust passage only downstream of the three-way catalyst, faster heating and better exhaust gas purification can be achieved.
It is particularly advantageous if the internal combustion engine in the heating phase and / or in the regeneration phase of the particulate filter with a combustion air ratio λ E in the range of 0.85 to 0.95, preferably from about λ E = 0.9, operated. In such a combustion air ratio, on the one hand, a sufficiently high amount of reducing agents, in particular unburned hydrocarbons, is provided in the combustion exhaust gas in the exhaust gas duct. On the other hand, in this area there is not yet a much increased particle emission of the internal combustion engine.
For the regeneration of the particulate filter it is advantageously provided that the mixture air ratio λ M (ie the mixture of combustion exhaust gas and secondary air) in the regeneration phase in the range of 1.05 to 1.2, preferably at about λ M = 1.1, is set. In this area, there is a sufficiently large excess of oxygen to oxidize the soot on the particulate filter and to regenerate the particulate filter. However, the amount of oxygen is low enough to avoid uncontrolled burning off of the soot on the particulate filter and associated risk of damaging the particulate filter.
According to an advantageous development of the method, it is provided that the compressor is driven by a turbine in the exhaust duct and the secondary air duct opens upstream of the turbine into the exhaust duct, ie the secondary air is supplied to the exhaust gas flow upstream of the turbine in the exhaust gas flow direction. The use of a turbocharger with a turbine arranged in the exhaust duct and a compressor arranged in the fresh air duct offers the advantage that the energy of the exothermic reaction can be used to drive the turbine when injecting the secondary air upstream of the turbine into the exhaust duct. It is particularly advantageous if a turbine bypass bypass is formed on the turbine, which can be closed to increase the drive power of the compressor. As a result, the power can be increased at low load points to always provide a sufficient amount of secondary air. In addition, in this way the pressure of the compressor can be increased in order to achieve a sufficient pressure gradient between the fresh air line and exhaust duct in order to be able to introduce secondary air against the exhaust backpressure in the exhaust duct into this at low load points. It is particularly preferred if the bypass is closed in the heating phase and / or the regeneration phase of the particulate filter. Thus, in the phases in which the secondary air is needed in the exhaust duct, the power of the compressor can be increased, so that the compressor can additionally provide the amount of air for the secondary air introduction in addition to providing the combustion air. The bypass can be designed as a waste gate and can be closed by a corresponding valve or a flap.
According to an advantageous further development of the method, it is provided that the superstoichiometric mixture air ratio λ M is selected for the regeneration phase of the particulate filter for a time interval in the range from 200 to 1000 s, preferably in the range from 300 to 800 s, particularly preferably in the range from 500 to 600 s , In the regeneration phase of the particulate filter, the three-way catalyst can not develop its full effectiveness, since there is a superstoichiometric mixture air ratio at the three-way catalyst during the regeneration phase. The proposed time interval makes it possible, on the one hand, to achieve sufficient regeneration of the particulate filter and, at the same time, to keep the time interval in which the three-way catalyst can not develop its full effectiveness as small as possible.
According to a further advantageous development, it is provided that the regeneration phase is preceded by the heating phase and is maintained for a time interval in the range of 50 to 300 s, preferably 100 s. Through a separate Heating phase, the heating of the particulate filter can be achieved with simultaneous stoichiometric mixture air ratio. Thus, the three-way catalyst during the heating of the particulate filter unfold its full effectiveness and is not impaired in its function. By upstream, separate heating of the particulate filter, the regeneration phase compared to a combined heating and regeneration phase can be shortened, and thus the time interval can be reduced, in which the three-way catalyst is operated outside its ideal working conditions.
According to an advantageous development of the method, it is provided that a temperature of the exhaust gas is determined prior to entry into the three-way catalytic converter, this temperature being compared with a light-off temperature of the three-way catalytic converter for converting unburned hydrocarbons. If this light-off temperature is not reached, the ignition angle of the internal combustion engine is initially adjusted in the direction of late before the combustion air ratio λ E is adjusted, in particular to the substoichiometric combustion air ratio λ E <1 of the regeneration phase. For the exothermic conversion of hydrocarbons, a so-called light-off temperature is necessary to start this exothermic reaction. This can be in gasoline engines and the fuels used in the range of about 300 ° C to 400 ° C. Below this temperature, it is necessary to take further measures to bring the exhaust gas initially in this temperature range, since the proposed method with a combustion air adjustment to a stoichiometric, rich mixture and an exothermic reaction of the unburned constituents only above the light-off temperature can unfold its effect. Below this temperature, the unburned hydrocarbons are not or only to a small extent implemented, so that in addition to undesirable HC emissions does not lead to a significant increase in the exhaust gas temperature. In order to increase the exhaust gas temperature just in light load phases, it is therefore proposed to additionally adjust the firing angle of the engine in the direction of "late" and thus to increase the exhaust gas temperature.
According to an advantageous continuation of the method, it is provided that the power of the compressor is raised for a limited period of time, in particular for the heating phase and / or the regeneration phase. Thereby, the amount of air of the compressor can be increased over the amount of air that is required by the internal combustion engine for combustion. This additional amount of air can then be injected as secondary air into the exhaust duct.
The device according to the invention for the exhaust aftertreatment of a chargeable, spark-ignited internal combustion engine comprises a fresh air duct and an exhaust duct, wherein in the fresh air duct a compressor for compressing the fresh air and wherein downstream of the compressor, a secondary air line is provided which connects the fresh air duct with the exhaust duct, and in the exhaust duct a third Pathway catalyst and downstream of the three-way catalyst, a particulate filter is arranged, wherein the secondary air line opens upstream of the three-way catalyst in the exhaust passage. The device according to the invention makes it possible, with a rich combustion air ratio of the internal combustion engine to raise the exhaust gas temperature by the secondary air, to set a stoichiometric mixture air ratio at the three-way catalyst, which enables ideal conversion of the pollutants on the three-way catalytic converter.
The device according to the invention is suitable and configured for carrying out the method according to the invention. In particular, the apparatus for this purpose comprises a controller in which a computer-readable control algorithm for implementing the method is implemented and optionally required maps are stored.
According to an advantageous embodiment, it is provided that in the fresh air line downstream of the compressor, a throttle valve is arranged, wherein the secondary air line branches off between the compressor and the throttle valve from the fresh air duct. Thus, the amount of air supplied to the engine and / or the secondary air passage can be controlled by the throttle valve.
According to a further advantageous embodiment, it is provided that the three-way catalyst in a position close to the engine and the particle filter in a remote position, in particular in an underbody position, are arranged. In this case, a position close to the engine is a position in which the inlet opening of the three-way catalyst is less than 50 cm, preferably less than 30 cm away from a cylinder outlet of the internal combustion engine. Typically, the average exhaust gas run length from a cylinder outlet to the entry into the particle filter is at least 100 cm, in particular at least 120 cm. This position is referred to in the context of this application as a motor remote position. By a close-to-engine position of the three-way catalyst this is heated faster in the starting phase, so that the three-way catalyst reaches a light-off temperature faster for the effective implementation of unburned components of the combustion mixture of the internal combustion engine. A motor remote arrangement of the particulate filter has the advantage that in underfloor location usually more space is available, and the Particle filter is thus easier to assemble. In addition, the particle filter is protected in the bottom layer from thermal overload and associated destruction or aging.
According to a further advantageous development, it is provided that the secondary air line opens into the exhaust gas duct upstream of a turbine arranged upstream of the three-way catalytic converter in the flow direction of the exhaust gas. As a result, unburned components of the combustion mixture in the exhaust manifold upstream of the turbine can be implemented exothermically and the additional energy released during this exothermic reaction can be used to drive the turbine. As a result, an increase in the power of the engine, in particular an increase in torque in weak load points, possible in which the turbine otherwise can provide little drive power for the compressor.
