Description
The invention is based on a system or a method for solder joint inspection according to the preamble of the independent claims.
Prior art solder joint inspection systems are used in SMT (Surface Mount Technology) manufacturing to test the quality of the fabricated solder joints.
In SMT production, solder pads of printed circuit boards are printed with solder paste, and the amount of printed solder paste is tested by an automatic solder paste inspection device in a so-called SPI process (SPI = Solder Paste Inspection). Subsequently, the components to be soldered are placed on the printed circuit board and the solder paste is melted in a soldering oven, so that firm connections between the components and the corresponding solder pads of the circuit board can arise. Subsequently, the quality of the resulting solder joints is tested by an apparatus for automatic solder joint inspection in a so-called SJI process (SJI = Solder Joint Inspection).
As automatic soldering inspection devices, automatic optical inspection systems (AOI) or automatic X-ray inspection systems (AXI = automatic X-ray inspection) are typically used. In the case of a "good" classification in the automatic solder joint inspection, the printed circuit board continues in the production line. In the case of a "bad" classification in the automatic solder joint inspection, the corresponding solder joint of the printed circuit board is usually judged manually by a human examiner in a post-inspection process as to whether there actually is a bad solder joint or if the classification of the automatic solder joint inspection was incorrect and a so-called " Pseudo error "is present. The manual post-assessment is common, since in the known from the prior art systems for solder joint inspection without manual re-evaluation would be too high scrap costs due to pseudo-errors in the automatic Lötstelleninspektionsprozess.
Aus der Offenlegungsschrift
Offenbarung der ErfindungDisclosure of the invention
The system and the method for solder joint inspection with the features of
Embodiments of the present invention incorporate the automatic solder paste inspection information directly into the automatic solder joint inspection, thereby enabling the direct, flexible adaptation of the corresponding evaluation algorithm to the information supplied about the actual quantity of solder paste.
Embodiments of the present invention perform an adaptive solder joint inspection in which the threshold value with which the device for automatic solder joint inspection decides with regard to good or bad soldering position, is adapted to the amount of solder paste present at the respective solder joint. As a result, slippage and pseudo-errors can advantageously be massively reduced compared to a standard solder joint inspection. Thus, embodiments of the present invention may enable verification of the solder joints of SMT designs that heretofore can not be verified over lack of separability of good and bad parts over process-standard solder paste amounts. Furthermore, it would be conceivable that the pseudo error rate can be reduced to such an extent that there is no need for a manual review can be. Depending on the selected at least one quality feature, the device for automatic solder joint inspection, for example, evaluate the solder joint to be tested as a good solder joint, if the at least one quality feature is equal to the predetermined threshold or above the predetermined threshold, or evaluate as a poor solder joint, if the at least one Quality feature is below the predetermined threshold. Alternatively, the automatic solder joint inspection device may evaluate the solder joint to be tested as a good solder joint depending on the selected at least one quality feature, if the at least one quality characteristic is below the predetermined threshold value, or as a poor solder joint if the at least one quality characteristic is equal to the predetermined threshold value is or is above the predetermined threshold.
Embodiments of the present invention provide a solder joint inspection apparatus that includes an automatic solder paste inspection apparatus that determines a solder paste amount applied to a solder surface and an automatic solder inspection apparatus that includes at least one quality characteristic of a solder joint to be inspected in a predetermined inspection area of the solder pad detected and compared with a predetermined threshold. In this case, the device for automatic solder joint inspection evaluates the solder joint to be tested depending on the comparison result as a good solder joint or as a poor solder joint. An evaluation and control unit determines the threshold value for the at least one quality feature as a function of the solder paste quantity to be checked and specifies the threshold value for checking the corresponding solder joint to the device for automatic solder joint inspection.
In addition, a method for solder joint inspection with an automatic solder paste inspection, by which a solder paste applied to a soldering surface is determined, and an automatic solder joint inspection proposed by which detected in a predetermined inspection area of the soldering surface at least one quality feature of a solder joint to be tested and compared with a predetermined threshold becomes. Here, the solder joint to be tested is evaluated as a good solder joint or as a poor solder joint depending on the comparison result. In this case, the threshold value for the at least one quality feature for automatic solder joint inspection is determined as a function of the solder paste quantity intended for the solder joint to be tested and specified for checking the corresponding solder joint.
The system according to the invention and the method according to the invention can be used, for example, in a system for equipping a printed circuit board for solder joint inspection.
Embodiments of the invention may be implemented, for example, in software or hardware or in a hybrid of software and hardware, for example in the evaluation and control unit.
In the present case, the evaluation and control unit can be understood as meaning an electrical device, such as a control unit, which processes or evaluates detected sensor signals. The evaluation and control unit may have at least one interface, which may be formed in hardware and / or software. In the case of a hardware-based configuration, the interfaces can be part of a so-called system ASIC, for example, which contains a wide variety of functions of the evaluation and control unit. However, it is also possible that the interfaces are their own integrated circuits or at least partially consist of discrete components. In a software training, the interfaces may be software modules that are present, for example, on a microcontroller in addition to other software modules. Also of advantage is a computer program product with program code which is stored on a machine-readable carrier such as a semiconductor memory, a hard disk memory or an optical memory and is used to carry out the evaluation when the program is executed by the evaluation and control unit.
For example, in embodiments of the present invention, the evaluation and control unit may be implemented as part of the automatic solder paste inspection apparatus or as part of the automatic solder inspection apparatus or as an independent assembly. The device for automatic solder joint inspection can be carried out, for example, as an optical system or as an X-ray system.
The measures and refinements recited in the dependent claims advantageous improvements of the independent claim 1 Appendix to Lötstellenüberprüfung and specified in the
It is particularly advantageous that the device for automatic solder joint inspection as the at least one quality feature determine a number of detected in the inspection area pixels with a predetermined property and / or width and / or height and / or length of the solder joint can. The inspection area represents the solder joint area, in which typically the formation of a solder meniscus can be tested as a quality feature for a good solder joint. In the case of an optical check to distinguish between good and poor solder joints, the brightness and / or color and / or size of the pixels detected in the inspection area can be determined and evaluated as the predetermined property, for example. Regardless of the actual amount of solder paste, for example, a "good" solder joint contains significantly more dark pixels than a "bad" solder joint. By means of a three-dimensional detection of the solder joint to be checked, it is possible in particular to evaluate information about the height or the height profile of the soldering miniscus as a quality feature for the solder joint to be tested.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the device for automatic solder paste inspection can rate a certain amount of solder paste as a good Lotpastenmenge when the bestimmem Lotpastenmenge is within a predetermined range. For example, an optimal amount of solder paste can be specified as 100% for the solder joint to be tested. Then, the automatic solder paste inspection apparatus may evaluate a certain amount of solder paste in the predetermined range of, for example, 50 to 150% as a good solder paste amount and a certain amount of solder paste outside the predetermined range as a poor solder paste amount.
In a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, a Nachüberprüfungsplatz be present at which a human examiner re-evaluated the rated as a bad solder joints solder joints.
In a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, for the solder joint to be checked in advance corresponding to a predetermined number of different Lotpastenmengen corresponding supporting values are determined and stored, which can be used to determine the threshold for the at least one quality feature. In this case, the threshold value used for the solder joint inspection for the specific amount of solder paste between the determined interpolation points can be interpolated. By specifying support points, the time for determining or calculating the threshold value can be advantageously reduced. Alternatively, it is possible to determine and store in advance a threshold value characteristic as a function of the quantity of solder paste in the predetermined region for the solder joint to be checked. In this case, the threshold value used for the solder joint inspection for the particular amount of solder paste can be read from the characteristic curve. As a result, the time for determining the threshold value can be further reduced.
