Description
The invention relates to a cage for a roller bearing, comprising a base body made of a polymer material and at least one at least partially disposed on the base body coating, in particular for increasing the media and temperature resistance of the cage.
Furthermore, the invention also relates to a method for producing a cage for a roller bearing, wherein a basic body of the cage is made of a polymer material.
Gebiet der ErfindungField of the invention
Cages for rolling bearings, which lead rolling elements of rolling bearings in pockets, are subject to different loads in use, in particular mechanical and thermal type, and a resulting wear. From the well-known prior art cages made of metal, especially brass or sheet metal, known. Metal cages, especially machined brass cages, have a relatively high weight and are relatively expensive to manufacture. From the well-known prior art cages are also known, which consist of a plastic. Such plastic cages can be produced relatively cheaply and quickly in large numbers, for example by injection molding, with complex geometries are possible. However, plastic cages are not sufficiently dimensionally stable at higher temperatures. Applications at higher temperatures, especially at temperatures above 200 ° C, as well as deficient lubrication make increased demands, especially on the material of the cages. It is possible to coat plastic cages for bearings with a metallic coating, in particular to increase the media and temperature resistance of the cage.

However, it is not entirely customary to coat a plastic cage for rolling bearings with a polymer coating, in particular with a hybrid polymer such as Ormocer®, in order to increase the media and temperature resistance of the cage.
Hybrid polymers are polymer materials that have both inorganic and organic network structures that are linked at the molecular level. The structure of the inorganic silicate network structure takes place in the sol-gel process via the controlled hydrolysis and condensation of alkoxysilanes. By additionally incorporating metal alkoxides in the sol-gel process, the silicate network can be selectively modified. By polymerization of organofunctional groups, which are introduced by the organoalkoxylans in the material, an organic network is additionally built. Reactive methacrylate, epoxy or vinyl groups are polymerized by thermal or photochemical induction. The hybrid polymer prepared in this manner, especially Ormocer®, can be applied to the substrate by conventional application techniques such as spraying, brushing and dipping.

The object is achieved for a cage for a roller bearing, comprising a base body made of a polymer material and at least one at least partially arranged on the base body coating to increase the media and temperature resistance of the cage, characterized in that the at least one coating of one, on the body applied first coating of an inorganic-organic hybrid polymer material with covalent bonds between inorganic and organic phases is formed and that on the first coating at least one further coating is arranged, which is formed of a metal and is connected via covalent bonds to the hybrid polymer material.
According to the invention, a base body of the cage of a roller bearing at least partially has at least one coating of an inorganic-organic hybrid polymer material. Here, the basic body of a thermoplastic polymer, in particular polyamide, is formed. In other words, at least a portion of the base body is coated with an inorganic-organic hybrid polymer material. Particularly preferably, the base body is completely coated. The inorganic-organic hybrid polymer material is characterized by strong covalent bonds between inorganic and organic phases. This combines the properties of very contrasting materials such as glass or ceramics with those of organic polymers or silicones at the molecular level. Further, the coating of the inorganic-organic hybrid polymer material has high resistance to any lubricant, so that the cage in contact with the lubricant is not damaged by swelling or embrittlement.
Preferably, the inorganic-organic hybrid polymer material is chemically coupled by thermal action or the action of UV radiation to the base body. Furthermore, based on this first coating, at least one further coating made of metal is applied, wherein the attachment of the at least one further coating to the first coating likewise takes place chemically. A chemical bond has a particularly long shelf life, as well as a high hardness and temperature resistance.
Furthermore, the inorganic-organic hybrid polymer material is preferably formed from an Ormocer®. Ormocers are inorganic-organic hybrid polymer materials that consist of atomic ceramic and plastic nets that chemically bond to each other. The name ORMOCER® is an abbreviation for "ORganically MOdifiedCERamics" and is protected by trademark law. Ormocere have a high temperature resistance and can be used up to at least 300 ° C. The application of the coating takes place in particular by dipping or spraying. Furthermore, other coating methods are conceivable. A possible galvanization for application of the coating takes place in the immersion process with energization, wherein the surface is etched.
On the base body, a further coating is arranged, which consists of a metal. In other words, over the coating of the inorganic-organic hybrid polymer material, a coating of a metallic material is formed, which is connected via covalent bonds to the hybrid polymer layer. Thus, the base body is metallized after application of the inorganic-organic hybrid polymer material layer. This increases in particular the wear resistance and the temperature resistance of the cage. Further, the inorganic-organic hybrid polymer material layer is protected by the metallic coating. The inorganic-organic hybrid polymer material layer significantly improves the bond between the metallic layer and the main body of the cage. Chipping and loosening of the layer is greatly reduced.
The method according to the invention for producing a cage for a roller bearing essentially comprises two method steps. First, the basic body of the cage is made of a polymeric material. Thereafter, at least one inorganic-organic hybrid polymeric material coating is applied to the base body to increase at least the media and temperature resistance of the cage. Depending on the polymer material of the cage, it is not possible to use certain lubricants that cause the material to dissolve and dissipate. A full-surface coating of the cage by an inorganic-organic hybrid polymer material thus protects the substrate. Furthermore, not only the media and temperature resistance of the cage is increased by such a coating, but also reduces friction, in particular between the cage and the rolling elements and thus reduces the wear. In a further method step, at least one metallic layer is applied to the inorganic-organic hybrid polymer material layer, which is connected via covalent bonds to the hybrid polymer material.
