Abstract
A marine component comprising a hydraulic system containing lubricating oil and at least one infrared spectrometer for analyzing lubricating oil from the hydraulic system.
Description
The invention relates to a marine component comprising a hydraulic system containing lubricating oil and at least one analysis device for analyzing lubricating oil from the hydraulic system.
The "ship components" (also called "ship unit") affected by the invention are, in particular, ship motors, generators, shaft systems, bow thrusters, hydraulic winches, rowing machine installations or crane installations. In the hydraulic systems of the marine components, the lubricating oil serves in particular as a lubricant for reducing the friction between relatively moving components or as a hydraulic fluid for the transmission of forces or energy.
With the introduction of new, stricter emission regulations and the concomitant economic need, new modes of operation, such use the slow speed (English: slow steaming), the requirements for the operation of marine engines are getting higher. A timely, continuous monitoring of the state parameters of the marine engine is therefore becoming increasingly important. An important parameter is the condition of the cylinder lubricating oil, which is supplied to the two-stroke diesel engines prevailing in merchant ships, in particular for reducing the friction between piston and cylinder.
In sulfur-containing heavy oil (English: heavy fuel oil, HFO), Marine diesel oils and hybrid or Ultra Low-Sulfur-fuels for use on board ships produced by burning sulfur oxides (SO x), which upon contact with water or Combustion air moisture form sulphurous acid and sulfuric acid. These in turn cause corrosion in the engine. Therefore, cylinder lubricating oils should have an alkalinity which is characterized by the base number (BN). The base number is a measure of the ability of the cylinder lubricating oil to neutralize acidic combustion products. If the alkalinity of the cylinder lubricating oil is too low, the sulfuric acid can not be neutralized. It comes to sulfuric acid deposits and cold corrosion (acid corrosion) on the liner (English: cylinder liner) and on the piston and on the piston rings. Increased wear is the result of this under lubrication. If the alkalinity of the cylinder lubricating oil is too high, the acid corrosion is completely prevented. This leads to a smoothing of the liner (English: liner polishing), whereby the construction of a sufficient lubricating film is prevented. Another effect of this over-lubrication may be the build-up of deposits of potassium carbonate on the piston and its top land. These deposits result in heavy wear. Therefore, it is crucial that in the cylinder lubricating oil sulfur and the alkaline reserve are present in a balanced proportion that avoids under-lubrication and over-lubrication. The alkaline reserve can be measured by a base number measurement in the lubricating oil contaminated when passing through the bushing with combustion and wear products, which is withdrawn from the cylinder and collected in the sludge tank. When the alkaline reserve is almost used up, the cylinder lubricating oil could not neutralize any further sulfuric acid and chemical wear occurs due to acid corrosion.
Although analyzes of cylinder lubricating oils in the laboratory allow an accurate quantitative determination of the relevant parameters, but are not practical due to the time delay between sampling and analysis result. Furthermore, there are already test kits for the investigation of samples of cylinder lubricating oil on board by wet chemical and physical methods. However, these are labor-intensive and time-consuming, inaccurate or expensive to carry out and therefore not suitable for use on board. Thus, a cost-effective, reliable and fast-acting measurement system is needed to provide permanent monitoring of the state of the cylinder lubricating oil aboard a ship.
In other marine components, corrosion may be caused by the ingress of seawater into the lubricating oil in the hydraulic system. An example is the shaft system of the ship, which comprises a drive shaft coupled to the ship's engine, on which the ship's propeller sits. The drive shaft is led out of the hull through the stern tube bearing. The stern tube bearing is sealed off from the seawater by a stern tube seal. If the stern tube seal is leaking, seawater can enter the stern tube bearing and seize the drive shaft. The intended controls of the stern tube bearing are sometimes not carried out as required.
In the case of a bow thruster, the penetration of seawater into the hydraulic system can cause the propeller drive to fail and the propeller blades to be adjusted.
Furthermore, the ingress of seawater can lead to the failure of hydraulic winches or the generator bearing of generators.
On this basis, the invention has for its object to provide a marine component comprising a hydraulic system containing lubricating oil, which allows a more cost-effective, reliable and faster monitoring of the lubricating oil. It is a further object of the present invention to provide a method which enables more cost-effective, reliable and faster monitoring of the lubricating oil of a marine component comprising a hydraulic system containing lubricating oil.
The marine component according to the invention comprises a hydraulic system containing lubricating oil and at least one infrared spectrometer for analyzing lubricating oil from the hydraulic system.
In the ship component according to the invention (also called "ship unit"), an infrared spectrometer is used for the analysis of the lubricating oil. While infrared spectroscopy does not allow the detection of undissolved iron in the lubricating oil, it does not lend itself to detecting wear in marine engines or other metal ship components. However, infrared spectroscopy allows the detection of sulfur and water content as well as the base number and thus secondary parameters of corrosion in marine components comprising a hydraulic system containing lubricating oil. For example, in marine engines, the detection of iron sulfate and the base number in the contaminated lubricating oil (drain oil) makes it possible to detect corrosion by sulfuric acid. The invention is based on the finding that it is only the analysis of the alkaline reserve of the drain oil in combination with the analysis of the iron sulfate that enables a precise assessment of the effectiveness of the lubrication and the amount of wear. For generator bearings, shaft assemblies, bow thrusters, hydraulic winches, rowing machines and cranes, detection of the water enables corrosion to be detected by seawater entering the lubricating oil or hydraulic oil. The acquisition of the parameters is possible by means of infrared spectrometers in real time (English: online-time). Advantageously miniaturized infrared spectrometers are used, which are inexpensive, no interferometer unit and thus contain no moving parts and need no supply of the inert gases. The susceptibility of these devices, e.g. against vibration or variable orientation, is relatively low, so that the measurement can be performed with high reliability. For the first time, the invention makes it possible to monitor the ship components continuously or at short intervals. The Chief Engineer may take into account the values of other operating parameters, such as sea state, acceleration, bad weather, cylinder wall temperature and other wear parameters and conclusions for the operation of the ship's component, in particular for its supply of fresh lubricating oil. Furthermore, the real-time measurement enables the implementation of a control loop, which ensures an optimal tracking of fresh lubricating oil to the hydraulic system, which avoids corrosion and wear. In the case of a marine engine, the residence time can be influenced by an optimum cylinder oil injection quantity (English: feed rate). With a given alkalinity, this can ensure that it is used up to the alkaline reserve and at the same time enough cylinder lubricating oil is available so that there is no increased abrasion. The feed rate can be adapted to the power delivered by the engine. Further, it is possible to adjust the composition of the fresh lubricating oil so as to have a base number which ensures sufficient lubrication without increased wear. For this purpose, lubricating oils with different base numbers can be mixed or additives can be added to a given lubricating oil. The acquired measured values can be used to control the injection system for the cylinder oil system in a consumption-optimized and condition-based monitoring (CBM) mode, thus keeping the wear of the marine engine in the optimum range and minimizing the use of expensive cylinder lubricating oil.
The solutions for real-time measurements existing in this field are based on univariate measurement methods, e.g. Measurement of the dielectric constant or the conductivity of the lubricating oil. On the basis of correlations, general statements can be made, e.g. about the state of aging or the acid number (English: total acid number, TAN) are taken. However, with an infrared spectrometer, the various vibrational bands of the molecules can be used in combination with a multivariant calibration, e.g. using PLS algorithm (English: partial least squares, PLS), the concentrations of different dissolved components, which are decisive for the corrosion, simultaneously and in real time determine.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the ship component comprises at least one sampling device for taking samples of the lubricating oil from the hydraulic system. By means of the sampling device samples of lubricating oil from the hydraulic system can be removed, which are supplied to the infrared spectrometer. The sampling device is preferably used when the condition of a lubricating oil is to be determined that is under elevated temperature or under elevated pressure, or in a situation in which direct measurement by means of infrared spectrometer is difficult or impossible. Then by means of the Sampling device, a sample of the lubricating oil taken and examined by means of the infrared spectrometer in an environment that is better suited for the analysis of the sample by means of the infrared spectrometer. Alternatively, the infrared spectrometer is integrated into the ship's component so that the infrared spectrometer detects the lubricating oil in the hydraulic system. For example, in a hydraulic system in which the lubricating oil is circulated (circulation lubrication), the infrared spectrometer can directly detect the lubricating oil in a circulation pipe.
According to a preferred embodiment, the sampling device is hydraulically connected to the hydraulic system and / or the sampling device is hydraulically connected to the infrared spectrometer. This facilitates the removal of the sample from the hydraulic system by means of the sampling device and / or the supply of the sample taken from the sampling device to the infrared spectrometer. According to a preferred embodiment, the hydraulic connection between the sampling device and the hydraulic system and / or the hydraulic connection between the sampling device and the infrared spectrometer is permanent. According to a preferred embodiment, there is at least one valve in the hydraulic connection between the sampling device and the hydraulic system and / or in the hydraulic connection between the sampling device and the infrared spectrometer. The valve allows samples to be delivered to the sampling device and / or the infra-red metrometer for limited periods of time to perform repeated measurements. Alternatively, a continuous analysis is carried out, wherein continuously sample is taken from the hydraulic system and supplied to the infrared spectrometer.
According to a preferred embodiment, the extraction of samples from the hydraulic system by the sampling device is effected by a pressure difference existing between the lubricating oil in the hydraulic system and the sampling device. According to a preferred embodiment, the pressure difference is based on the fact that there is an overpressure within the hydraulic system, which is located above the ambient pressure, and that in an outlet opening of the sampling device prevails below the overpressure pressure, preferably ambient pressure prevails. Alternatively, the sampling device comprises a conveying device, which is designed to convey samples from the hydraulic system into the sampling device. The conveyor is for example a pump, a piston-cylinder unit or another displacement device which is able to suck in lubricating oil.
According to a further embodiment, the infrared spectrometer is connected to a control device, which is connected to a lubricating oil supply, which is hydraulically connected to the hydraulic system, wherein the control device is designed, in case of non-compliance at least one guide value or guide range for a determined by the infrared spectrometer property of Lubricating oil supply by means of the lubricating oil supply to the hydraulic system lubricating oil so, preferably in an amount and / or composition supply that the lubricating oil in the hydraulic system as a result of the supply of lubricating oil complies with the guide value or guide value range. As a result, a control loop is realized, which ensures that the lubricating oil is present in the hydraulic system with the desired properties.
According to a further embodiment, the control device is connected to a mixing device of the lubricating oil supply, which comprises a mixing tank and various storage tanks containing a plurality of lubricating oils with different properties or at least one lubricating oil and an additive, wherein the mixing device is designed, liquids from different storage tanks in the mixing tank to fill and mix with each other, and the mixing tank is hydraulically connected to the hydraulic system to supply the mixture from the mixing tank to the hydraulic system. In this embodiment, the composition of the hydraulic system supplied, fresh lubricating oil is controlled so that the lubricating oil is present in the hydraulic system with the desired nature. According to a preferred embodiment, the base number of a cylinder lubricating oil is supplied, which is supplied to a two-stroke diesel engine.
According to a further embodiment, the infrared spectrometer is connected to an output device for outputting the analysis results. The output device is, for example, a small lamp, LED, display, screen or other optical output device or a loudspeaker, siren or other acoustic output device or a printer or plotter. The Output device can display the analysis results, print, draw, announce or give a visual and / or audible warning if a guideline or guideline range is not complied with.
According to a preferred embodiment, the ship component is a marine diesel engine. According to a further embodiment, the marine diesel engine is a two-stroke diesel engine, the sampling device comprises a manifold which is passed through a housing wall of the cylinder housing of the marine diesel engine, wherein an inlet opening is arranged at an inner end of the manifold in the vicinity of a scavenge air slot of the liner of the marine diesel engine and arranged outside the cylinder housing outlet opening of the manifold is connected to an oil separator. In this embodiment, the piston and liner are associated with a (cylinder) lubricating oil-containing hydraulic system. The manifold begins with the inlet opening cylinder lubricating oil, which laterally ejects from the piston rings during the displacement of the piston when they reach the Spülluftschlitze. Thus, the sample of lubricating oil is collected directly from the bushing before the lubricating oil mixes with older debris, system oil from the crankcase (recirculating lubricating oil) or lubricating oil from adjacent cylinders. Alternatively, the sampling takes place from one of the already existing lines for draining strip oil from the intermediate bottom between the crankcase and cylinder or from the stuffing box held in the intermediate bottom for sealing the piston rod in the sump tank. The sampling device can be realized by means of a stopcock in one of these lines. A disadvantage of this sampling is that the stripping oil on the shelf or in the stuffing box with older residues, system oil from the crankcase and stripping oil from other cylinders can mix so that it does not reflect the condition of the lubricating oil in the cylinder in question.
According to a preferred embodiment, the manifold is passed through a hole in an inspection flap of the cylinder housing. This allows a particularly simple installation and maintenance of the manifold. In particular, the manifold can be retrofitted to an existing marine diesel engine.
The collected in the oil separator sample can be removed and fed to the infrared spectrometer. According to a preferred embodiment, the oil separator is hydraulically connected to the infrared spectrometer, i. via a pipe, hose or other fluid line.
According to another embodiment, the marine diesel engine has a plurality of cylinders, each cylinder being provided with a sampling device comprising a manifold and an oil separator. The oil separators are each connected to a separate infrared spectrometer or several or all oil separators are connected to the same infrared spectrometer. The connection of each sampling device to a separate infrared spectrometer has the advantage of allowing short lines between the sampling device and the analyzer. This prevents mixing with older lubricating oil residues or lubricating oil from other cylinders. Connecting multiple samplers to the same infrared spectrometer has the advantage of reducing the cost of the analyzers. Preferably, to avoid cross-contamination, the lines or the infrared spectrometer are purged from one cylinder to another cylinder prior to switching. In a preferred embodiment, sampling devices in two juxtaposed cylinders are each connected to the same infrared spectrometer. As a result, with reduced costs for infrared spectrometers low conduction paths are achieved.
According to a preferred embodiment, a plurality of manifolds are connected via valves to the same infrared spectrometer to selectively connect one of the manifolds to the same infrared spectrometer and to separate the remaining manifolds therefrom. As a result, one of the cylinders can be selectively selected for an analysis of the lubricating oil by the infrared spectrometer.
According to a further embodiment, the valves are connected to a control device which is designed to automatically control the sampling and the feeding of the taken samples into the infrared spectrometer. As a result, an automatic repeated monitoring of the lubricating oil is achieved in the hydraulic system.
According to an alternative embodiment, the marine component is a two-stroke or a four-stroke diesel engine and the hydraulic system is the crankshaft oil lubrication system. In this embodiment, compliance with the desired properties of the system oil (circulating lubricating oil) can be achieved in the circulation lubrication system of the crankshaft. In particular, when operating the two-stroke or four-stroke engine with heavy oil, a corrosive attack similar to the cylinder oil of a two-stroke engine is possible. Acid corrosion can be avoided by analyzing the system oil using an infrared spectrometer.
According to a further embodiment, the ship component is a generator, wherein the hydraulic system is a generator bearing. In this embodiment, corrosion in the generator bearing can be avoided by monitoring the water content in the lubricating oil. If an excessive amount of water is detected, the generator can be lowered or shut down until the repair is complete.
According to a further embodiment, the ship component is a shaft system, wherein the hydraulic system is a stern tube bearing. In this embodiment, corrosion in the stern tube bearing can be avoided by monitoring the water content in the lubricating oil. If an excessive amount of water is detected, an emergency oil with an increased viscosity can be used or the oil pressure in the stern tube can be increased until the stern tube seal is repaired in order to reduce the ingress of seawater.
According to a further embodiment, the ship component is a bow thruster, wherein the hydraulic system is a gear of the drive of the propeller or for the adjustment of the propeller blades. With an increased water content in the lubricating oil, the bow thruster can be used reduced until repair or shut down.
According to another embodiment, the ship's component is a hydraulic winch and the hydraulic system is the winch hydraulics. With an increased water content in the lubricating oil of the winch hydraulics, the winch can be used reduced or shut down until repair.
According to a further embodiment, the ship component is a rudder machine, wherein the hydraulic system is the rudder bearing. Upon detection of increased water content in the lubricating oil of the hydraulic system, the steering gear system can be repaired soon to prevent damage.
According to a further embodiment, the ship component is a crane system and the hydraulic system is a hydraulic drive system and / or a bearing of the crane. If an increased proportion of water in the lubricating oil of the hydraulic system or the bearing is detected, the crane can be lowered or shut down until repaired.
In another embodiment, the infrared spectrometer is hydraulically connected to a marine component and has at least one separate measurement port for feeding samples from another marine component. In this embodiment, the infrared spectrometer can be used for monitoring various ship components. With at least one ship component, the infrared spectrometer is preferably permanently connected hydraulically, for example with the marine engine. Furthermore, the infrared spectrometer can be used for the analysis of samples from other ship components. These samples can be injected by means of a syringe into the separate measuring port. It is understood that while the infrared spectrometer is separated via valves from the ship's component, with which it is permanently connected hydraulically.
Furthermore, the object is achieved by a method according to claim 23. Advantageous embodiments of the method are specified in subclaims.
In the method according to the invention, a ship component comprising a hydraulic system containing lubricating oil is operated and analyzed by means of at least one infrared spectrometer lubricating oil from the hydraulic system.
The advantageous effects of the method according to the invention and its subsequent embodiments correspond to the above-described advantageous effects of the ship component according to the invention.
According to a preferred embodiment of the method, at least one of the following parameters of the lubricating oil is analyzed: alkalinity (base number), concentration of iron sulfate in the lubricating oil or concentration of water in the lubricating oil.
According to another embodiment, at least one parameter of the lubricating oil is analyzed continuously or repeatedly.
According to a further embodiment of the method, depending on the result of the analysis, lubricating oil from the hydraulic system is replaced by fresh lubricating oil.
According to a further embodiment, the flow rate and / or the composition of the fresh lubricating oil is determined in dependence on the analysis of the lubricating oil from the hydraulic system and replaces lubricating oil from the hydraulic system by the fresh lubricating oil.
