Description
The invention relates to a method for improving a measurement accuracy of a wet chemical analyzer in a determination of a parameter of a liquid to be analyzed, preferably a chemical oxygen demand or total phosphorus, wherein a measuring reactor having at least one reactor valve with the liquid sample and a plurality of reagents or standards necessary for the analysis is filled, wherein prior to filling of the measuring reactor, a respective predetermined volume of the liquid to be analyzed and each reagent or standards is set individually in a, consisting of a metering and at least one Dosiermesseinrichtung metering unit.
A disadvantage of such an analyzer is that due to the fact that each liquid to be analyzed, each required reagent and each standard necessary for calibrating the analyzer is first introduced into the metering unit for determining the volume and then out of the metering unit into the reactor and measuring device before the next reagent or standard is metered into the metering device, which in turn is transported to the volume determination in the reactor and measuring device. As a result, in the course of the dosing process, the level in the reactor and measuring device increases and, if appropriate, reaches a higher level than in the dosing unit. This leads to a higher hydrostatic pressure prevailing in the reactor and measuring device than in the metering unit. It follows that after opening of reactor valves for conveying the metered liquid from the metering unit into the reactor and measuring device, a pressure equalization takes place, but at the same time escapes the reactor contents in the direction of the metering unit. This leads to the contents of the dosing unit being swirled. As a result of this turbulence, drops of liquid form in the dosing unit, which stick to the wall and thus lead to an incorrect volume in the next liquid to be filled. However, there is also the possibility that these drops are in the measuring path of the dosing measuring device, so that it triggers incorrectly, which leads to incorrect dosing. Even with a pressure equalization, where a portion of the liquid in the reactor is pressed down in the direction of metering unit, it can lead to carryover. These processes affect the measurement accuracy of the analyzer.
The invention is therefore based on the object to provide a method for improving a measurement accuracy of an analysis device in a determination of a parameter of a liquid sample, in which incorrect dosages are reliably prevented and additional carry-over can be avoided.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that prior to filling the measuring reactor with the metered in the metering liquid at the closed reactor inlet valve, a back pressure to a, built up by the liquid column in the measuring reactor hydrostatic pressure in the metering unit is constructed. This counterpressure prevents the reactor contents from escaping in the direction of the metering unit when the reactor valves are opened. This reliably prevents liquid droplets of the reactor contents from settling in the dosing unit and at the optical, capacitive or inductive dosing measuring device. This prevents incorrect measurements and improves the measuring accuracy of the analyzer. In the following, the liquid to be analyzed, the reagent and the standard are to be understood as they are introduced into the dosing unit only one after the other.
In one embodiment, the backpressure in the metering unit is generated when a level in the metering reactor is higher than in the metering unit.
In one variant, the counter-pressure generated in the dosing unit is equal to or higher than the hydrostatic pressure in the measuring reactor. This is necessary to prevent the contents of the measuring reactor from escaping into the dosing unit.
Advantageously, the back pressure is closed by closing all valves in the analyzer by means of a linear drive against the built up in the dosing unit liquid. Closing the valves when the metering device is filled ensures that when the backpressure is adjusted and the reactor valves are opened, the contents of the metering unit are forced into the measuring reactor, because the pressure on the contents of the metering unit is equal to or higher than the hydrostatic pressure in the measuring reactor.
In one embodiment, a piston pump is used as the linear drive, which presses against the liquid present in the dosing unit. For this purpose, the piston pump is arranged at the opposite end of the metering unit, at which no liquid such as liquid sample, reagent and standard is filled into the metering device. This ensures a reliable construction of the back pressure.
In a further development, the dosing unit and the measuring reactor are connected via a reactor inlet valve.
Advantageously, each liquid is connected via its own valve with the metering unit, which are all closed before the build-up of the back pressure in the metering unit and individually opened before tightening the respective liquid. This ensures that each liquid is actually brought into the dosing unit one by one, where the desired volume is set, and only after the liquid has been conveyed into the measuring reactor, the next liquid is filled into the dosing unit.
The invention allows numerous embodiments. One of them will be explained in more detail with reference to the figures shown in the drawing.
