The present invention relates to a method for producing a fiber-reinforced plastic component according to the features of
For the production of in particular fiber-reinforced plastic components (fiber composite components) and in particular of carbon fiber reinforced plastic components (CFRP components), inter alia, the resin transfer molding process (RTM process) is known. The production of a fiber composite component by means of this method is now also used in industrial applications in large series.
In a first process step, the so-called preforming or preforming process, the fiber semifinished products, which are fabricated as multi-layer fabric or scrim tailored fiber mats and formed if necessary, so that they already have approximately the geometry of the composite component to be manufactured. The individual fiber mats of the fiber semi-finished products generally have, in addition to the fiber mats, also a binder which has adhesive-like properties. The binder causes a pre-consolidation of the individual fiber mats with each other and thus the preformed fiber preform (of the preform), so that it can be fed dimensionally stable to the subsequent processes. The fiber preform can also be called just preform.
In a subsequent second process step, the actual RTM process (Resin Transfer Molding), the fiber preform is in a preferably purified and separated, d. H. inserted with an anti-adhesive coated cavity of a mold. The usually two-part mold is then closed by means of a press and a resin system (matrix) injected into the cavity of the mold, wherein it penetrates as a matrix material, the fiber structure of the fiber preform and includes the fibers. After curing of the resin system, the final shape of the fiber-reinforced plastic component thus obtained can be removed from the mold.
In order to keep the tool tightly closed during injection of the resin, for infiltration of the fiber preform, an elastomeric seal and / or dipping edges is usually located between the tool top and the tool base.
Fiber-reinforced plastic components are also produced by direct processes, that is to say without pre-switching a process step with which a preform is produced. The process steps and the technological problems are essentially the same.
Man unterscheidet dabei zwischen einem Kompressions-RTM-Verfahren (CRTM) und Injektion-RTM-Verfahren (IRTM).High cavity pressures of, for example, 35 to 100 bar are inherent in today's so-called high-pressure RTM (HD-RTM) processes, which are based on the production of, in particular, fiber-reinforced plastic components such as high-performance fiber composites focus on the fastest possible resin injection with complete impregnation of the textile fiber reinforcement structures through the use of highly reactive resin systems. This results in a drastic reduction of the usual cycle times. For homogeneous mixing of highly reactive resin and hardener components, a high-pressure RTM system is used. A distinction is made between a compression RTM method (CRTM) and an injection RTM method (IRTM).
In the CRTM process, the resin is injected into a defined (low) open mold containing a fiber preform. After the injection process, the mold is closed and the fiber preform due to the resulting from the closing forces of the hydraulic press high mold cavity pressure both compressed and simultaneously impregnated. In this case, exactly the necessary amount of resin is filled into the mold, which is necessary to produce the component, plus any Besäumkanten. At a pressure of more than 50 bar or more in the mold we speak of HP-CRTM.
In the (HP) IRTM process, the fiber preform, which is already in a completely closed mold, is impregnated by a significantly high resin injection pressure (eg 35 bar or more). The high injection pressure should lead to a shortening of the impregnation phase.

- • Kurze Injektions- und Imprägnierungszeiten unter Hochdruck;
- • Kurze Taktzeiten durch die Verwendung von hochreaktiven Harzsystemen;
- • Ökonomisch und ökologisch effizienter Verarbeitungsprozess, da mit keinen oder sehr geringen Harzüberschüssen gearbeitet wird;
- • Short injection and impregnation times under high pressure;
- • Short cycle times through the use of highly reactive resin systems;
- • Economically and ecologically efficient processing, as it works with no or very little resin surplus;
- • Creating an optimized resin-fiber ratio in the plastic molding, especially for lightweight construction.
However, each mentioned method also has specific disadvantages. With the IRTM method, the injection tools must be designed to be very rigid for injecting and, in particular, for pressing against the filled cavity. If pressures of more than 50 bar are required, these injection tools will quickly wear out over the charge and must be frequently serviced and replaced. Also, at these high pressures there is also the danger that the tissue will shift excessively in the area of the resin inlet into the cavity. In the CRTM process, the amount of resin introduced may be too high or too low. Both disadvantages, such as voids formation or lack of dimensional accuracy of the mold during the impregnation of the fabric in the process of the mold parts in the final final position. A Harzfalle within a tool is subject to high wear at the transition from the cavity into the resin trap and requires regular post-processing. Furthermore, these are technically questionable from the control point of view, because the reprinting is technically complex. To make matters worse, that the resin is cured in the resin trap and thus is no longer directly usable and increases the cost. The necessary reworking of the final product is also more complicated. Finally, a tool with a resin trap is only partially or not at all suitable to implement a HP-RTM process, since the tool is weakened by the resin trap in its rigidity and the necessary pressures can not withstand. Thus, the dimensional stability of the product suffers here.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a method, control and molding tool which is improved over the prior art and which can use the advantages of the RTM methods and in particular the high-pressure RTM methods (HP-RTM) equally economically as is suitable for Automated mass production processes while avoiding the above-mentioned disadvantages.
- Inserting a fiber preform into an open position A of a molding tool with at least two mutually movable tool parts of a molding tool,
- Moving the tool parts into an injection position to form a cavity sealed from the environment, the cavity being larger than the necessary cavity for the plastic component to be manufactured,
- Injecting resin into the cavity by means of an injection device via at least one injection port, wherein the amount of the resin is greater than the necessary amount of resin for the plastic component to be manufactured,
- - Moving of at least one of the tool parts in an end position to form a cavity which corresponds to the finished plastic component and simultaneous extrusion of excess resin from the cavity via at least one resin outlet and
- - Hardening of the plastic component in the mold and demolding by moving at least one tool part in the open position.
- a) The locking device (press) of the mold brings the final closing stroke as uniform as possible surface pressure on the content (resin, tissue) of the cavity and ensures a uniform impregnation of the fabric. This avoids that the fiber fabric does not slip in the cavity, especially in an IRTM process near the resin inlet.
- b) The extensive pressing of the excess resin makes it possible to raise the fiber content significantly to over 60% in a large-scale production.
- c) There are no costly investments for the injection device necessary and they are also subject to low wear, since they do not have to work actively during the high pressure phase of the process.
- d) At extremely high pressures (eg above 100 bar, preferably above 125 bar or more), the injection device at the interface can be separated from the cavity by simple means.
- e) The interfaces (inlet and outlet for the resin) can be configured in a simple and robust way.
