Abstract
In at least one embodiment, the optoelectronic component comprises one or more light sources for generating a primary radiation. By means of a conversion element, part of the primary radiation is converted into a longer-wavelength secondary radiation, so that the component emits mixed radiation during operation, which consists of the primary radiation and the secondary radiation. A filter element prevents a short-wave component of the secondary radiation from leaving the component. Through the filter element, a CIE-y coordinate of a color locus of the mixed radiation is reduced and a CIE z coordinate is increased. This increases the color rendering indices Ra and R9 of the mixed radiation due to the filter element.
Description
An optoelectronic component is specified. In addition, a method for producing an optoelectronic component is specified.
An object to be solved is to provide an optoelectronic device that is cost effective and emits radiation having a high color rendering index.
This object is achieved inter alia by a component and by a method having the features of the independent patent claims. Preferred developments are the subject of the dependent claims.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the optoelectronic component comprises one or more light sources. The at least one light source is set up to generate a primary radiation. The light source is operated electrically. The light source is preferably a light-emitting diode, in short LED, a laser diode or also an organic light-emitting diode, in short OLED. For example, colored light, preferably blue light or green light or yellow light or red light, is emitted by the light source.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the optoelectronic component has one or more conversion elements. As a result of the at least one conversion element, part of the primary radiation is converted into a longer-wavelength secondary radiation during normal operation. Due to the fact that only a part of the primary radiation is absorbed and converted, a mixed radiation is emitted by the optoelectronic component during normal operation which consists of the primary radiation and the secondary radiation at least in the visible spectral range.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the filter element at least or exclusively prevents a short-wave component of the secondary radiation temporarily or permanently from leaving the component. Short-wave fraction of the secondary radiation means in particular that this component is at shorter wavelengths than an intensity maximum of the secondary radiation or covers the shortest wavelength two thirds of the spectrum of the secondary radiation, whereby only wavelengths with an intensity of at least 5% of the intensity maximum are taken into account. In other words, the short-wave component lies on a blue flank of the secondary radiation. It is possible that the filter effect of the filter element is limited exclusively or substantially to the short-wave component of the secondary radiation. Preferably, no additional spectral components are added by the filter element of the mixed radiation of the component. The filter element then does not act as a phosphor in the relevant visible spectral range, such as from 400 nm to 750 nm.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, a CIE-y coordinate of a color locus of the mixed radiation is reduced by the filter element. That is, through the filter element, the color location of the mixed radiation in the CIE standard color chart slips toward the x-axis. Reference is made in particular to the CIE standard color chart from 1931.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the CIE z coordinate of the mixed radiation is increased by the filter element. In other words, then a perception of a blue component in the mixed radiation increases.

This increases the color rendering indices Ra and R9 of the mixed radiation due to the filter element.
In many applications, such as the illumination of business premises or displays, such as for food or clothing, an artificial lighting with a high color rendering index, in English Color Rendering Index or short CRI is required. Even in general lighting, such as for living spaces, is a comparatively high color rendering index desired. Especially in the food industry, good color reproduction in the red spectral range is desired. By the filter element described here, the color rendering index Ra and also the color rendering index for deep red in the test color R9 is increased.
Alternative ways to increase the color rendering index are to use elaborate phosphor blends or to combine a variety of LED chips that emit at different colors. However, these solutions are relatively technically complex and expensive. With the filter element described here, a technically simpler and more cost-effective solution is available.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the light source is a light-emitting diode, in short LED. The light-emitting diode comprises a semiconductor layer sequence. The semiconductor layer sequence is preferably based on a III-V compound semiconductor material. The semiconductor material is, for example, a nitride compound semiconductor material such as Al n In 1 nm Ga m N or a phosphide compound semiconductor material such as Al n In 1 nm Ga m P or an arsenide compound semiconductor material such as Al n In 1-nm Ga m As, where 0 ≦ n ≦ 1, 0 ≦ m ≦ 1 and n + m ≦ 1, respectively. In this case, the semiconductor layer sequence may have dopants and additional constituents. For the sake of simplicity, however, only the essential constituents of the crystal lattice of the semiconductor layer sequence, that is to say Al, As, Ga, In, N or P, are indicated, even if these may be partially replaced and / or supplemented by small amounts of further substances.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the light source is a light-emitting diode which emits blue light. The LED is based on the material system AlInGaN. The primary radiation preferably has an absolute intensity maximum at an intensity maximum wavelength Imax which is at least 420 nm or 430 nm or 440 nm. Alternatively or additionally, the intensity maximum wavelength Imax is at most 480 nm or 470 nm or 460 nm.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the secondary radiation has a relative or absolute intensity maximum Isek which is at least 570 nm or 580 nm or 590 nm. Alternatively or additionally, the maximum intensity Isek of the secondary radiation is at most 625 nm or 615 nm or 607 nm. It is possible for an intensity of the secondary radiation to decrease monotonically, starting from the intensity maximum Isek towards larger wavelengths and / or towards smaller wavelengths, so that there are no intermediate maxima or intermediate minima in the spectrum of the secondary radiation.
According to at least one embodiment, the mixed radiation has an intensity minimum imine which is at least 455 nm or 465 nm or 470 nm or 480 nm and / or at most 500 nm or 490 nm or 480 nm. In particular, the intensity minimum imine is at least 15 nm or 20 nm above the intensity maximum wavelength Imax of the primary radiation. The intensity maximum Imin is, in particular, a relative minimum of intensity, preferably the only relative intensity minimum between the intensity maximum wavelength Imax of the primary radiation and the intensity maximum Isek of the secondary radiation.
These and all other details apply, unless stated otherwise, especially at a temperature of 300 K, that is approximately at room temperature.
According to at least one embodiment, the primary radiation is not or not significantly changed by the filter element. By way of example, the intensity of the primary radiation through the filter element is attenuated by at most 20% or 10% or 5%. Alternatively or additionally, it is possible for the intensity maximum wavelength Imax of the primary radiation to be shifted through the filter element by at most 5 nm or 3 nm or 1.5 nm.
According to at least one embodiment, before passing through the filter element, the secondary radiation has a spectral half-width, in particular full width at half the height of the maximum or short FWHM, which is at least 100 nm or 120 nm or 140 nm. Alternatively or additionally, the spectral half-width of the secondary radiation is at most 230 nm or 200 nm or 170 nm.
According to at least one embodiment, the secondary radiation before and / or after passing through the filter element in the intensity maximum Isek by at least a factor of 1.25 or 1.5 or 2.5 or 4 is more intense than the primary radiation at the intensity maximum wavelength Imax. This factor is alternatively or additionally at most 5 or 2.5 or 2 or 1.75.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, a secondary intensity maximum Nsek is produced by the filter element in the spectrum of the secondary radiation. The secondary intensity maximum Nsek is preferably located between an intensity minimum Imin of the mixed radiation and the intensity maximum Isek of the secondary radiation before passing through the filter element. It is possible that through the Filter element exactly a pronounced Nebenintensitätsmaximum Nsek arises. Alternatively, several secondary intensity maxima may also occur, caused by the filter element.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the filter element is a bandpass filter. That is, the filter element has lower transmissivity in a spectral region, with transmissivity increasing toward both shorter and longer wavelengths. The filter element preferably has exactly one main filter band or altogether only one filter band in the relevant spectral range. Alternatively, the filter element may also have multiple filter bands and be designed as a multi-band pass filter. The relevant spectral range is in particular the visible spectral range, ie approximately the spectral range between 400 nm and 750 nm inclusive or between 420 nm and 710 nm inclusive.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, an average filter wavelength Lfil of the main filter band or filter band is at least 560 nm or 570 nm or 575 nm. Alternatively or additionally, the average filter wavelength is at most 610 nm or 590 nm or 585 nm. The location of the average filter wavelength Lfil results in particular from an average of those wavelengths at which an intensity of the filter band or the main filter band has fallen to 50%. In other words, the average filter wavelength is the average of the wavelengths of the filter band at half the full intensity level, FWHM.
For example, the maximum intensity Isek of the secondary radiation is 605 nm, with a tolerance of at most 30 nm or 20 nm or 10 nm or 5 nm and / or the average filter wavelength Lfil is 580 nm, with a tolerance of at most 30 nm or 20 nm or 10 nm or 5 nm, in each case at room temperature, ie 296 K.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, for a half width Bfil of the filter band or the main filter band, 0.02 (lsec-imine) ≦ Bfil ≦ 0.4 (lsec-imine) or 0.05 (lsec-imine) ≦ Bfil ≦ 0.3 ( Isek-imine) or 0.1 (Isek-Imin) ≦ Bfil ≦ 0.3 (Isek-Imin) or 0.15 (Isek-Imine) ≦ Bfil ≦ 0.25 (Isek-Imine). The half-width Bfil is in particular a FWHM value.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the secondary intensity maximum Nsek has at least 50% or 60% or 70% and / or at most 90% or 80% or 75% of the intensity of the secondary radiation in the intensity maximum Isek. In this case, reference is made to the intensity maximum Isek of the secondary radiation before passing through the filter element. The corresponding values may also apply to an intensity maximum Isek of the secondary radiation modified by the filter element. This intensity maximum Isek of the secondary radiation caused by the filter element lies, in particular, at larger wavelengths than the intensity maximum Isek before passing through the filter element. In this case, a shift is, for example, at least 5 nm or 10 nm or 15 nm and / or at most 30 nm or 25 nm or 20 nm. In other words, then the secondary intensity maximum Nsek is a relative and not an absolute maximum of intensity ,
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the filter element is an optically passive element with regard to the spatial radiation characteristic of the mixed radiation. In other words, the spatial radiation characteristic is then not or not significantly influenced by the filter element. In particular, the filter element then, within the scope of the manufacturing tolerances, is a plane-parallel, flat plate which is clear-sighted and does not scatter light. It then takes place through the filter element, for example, a slight parallel offset of radiation, but no widening or narrowing of the spatial radiation characteristic. This means that then the only optical function of the filter element is the filtering of the primary radiation and / or the secondary radiation.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the filter means has a thickness and / or optical density varying over the light source. Preferably, the filter means is thicker over a center of the light source or optically more dense than at an edge of the light source. This makes it possible to achieve that a mean path length of radiation, in particular of primary radiation, through the filter medium along all spatial directions is the same or approximately the same. Thus, an angle-dependent color impression of the mixed radiation emitted by the optoelectronic component can be shaped more homogeneously.
For example, the filter means is shaped like a convex lens or a biconvex lens, or edges of the light source, seen in plan view, are free of the filter medium. Alternatively, it is possible for the filter means to have a constant geometric thickness, but an optical density varying across the light source. Thus, it is possible that because of the constant thickness through the filter means, the spatial radiation characteristic of the mixed radiation is not affected, but due to the varying optical density but angle-dependent absorption behavior is adjustable. This can be achieved, for example, by the filter medium having a gradient in a concentration of a filter substance.
According to at least one embodiment, the conversion element includes a plurality of phosphor particles. The phosphor particles are embedded, for example, in a matrix material or tightly packed. Alternatively, the conversion element may be a phosphor ceramic with a ceramic plate. If a matrix material is present, the matrix material is preferably a silicone, a silicone-epoxy hybrid material, a glass or a ceramic.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the filter element is a glass filter. The filter element is then present, for example, as a glass plate, which is applied to the conversion element. Alternatively, filter particles may be present from the filter material, which may also be embedded in a matrix material.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the filter element has an average geometric thickness of at most 0.5 mm or 0.3 mm or 0.15 mm or 0.1 mm. In other words, the filter element is formed thin. A thickness of the filter element may be smaller than a thickness of the light source and / or the conversion element.
According to at least one embodiment, an average refractive index of the filter element at a wavelength of 550 nm and at a temperature of 300 K is at most 1.7 or 1.62 or 1.55. For example, this refractive index of the filter element is at most 0.2 or 0.15 above or below a mean refractive index of the conversion element. Such comparatively low refractive indices can be achieved if the filter element is a glass filter or if filter particles are embedded in a matrix material such as a silicone. A refractive index difference between the matrix material and the filter particles at room temperature is preferably at most 0.1 or 0.05 or 0.02 or 0.01.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the filter element is optically arranged downstream of the conversion element. This means that the filter element follows the conversion element completely or at least partially along a main emission direction within the optoelectronic component. It is possible that the conversion element is complete and is covered directly by the filter element. Particularly preferably, the filter element, the conversion element and the light source are intimately connected to each other, so that these components do not separate from each other in the intended use of the optoelectronic device. Further preferably, the filter element, the conversion element and the light source can be handled together as a single unit, for example with a tweezers or pick and place machine, English pick and place machine.
According to at least one embodiment, there is no gap and no gap between the light source and the filter element. This means that there is no area between the filter element and the light source which is evacuated, filled with gas or filled with a liquid. Thus, there are only solids between the light source and the filter element. Alternatively, there is a gap between the filter element and the light source, in particular between the filter element and the conversion element.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the filter element is located close to the light source. This may mean that a mean distance between the light source and the filter element is at most 0.2 mm or 0.1 mm or 0.075 mm. Alternatively, the filter element may be further away from the light source, for example at one side of a volume encapsulation facing away from the light source. An average distance is then preferably at most 2 mm or 1 mm and / or at least 0.15 mm or 0.3 mm.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the filter element does not act as a scatterer. In this case, however, it is possible for the filter element to have a roughening, for example by sand irradiation or by etching or by grinding, in particular for improving a light extraction efficiency or for setting a direction-dependent emission on a surface.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the filter element has further optically active components. For example, the filter element light-scattering particles are about as alumina or titanium dioxide buried.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the filter element is adhesively bonded to the light source and / or the conversion element. Alternatively, the filter element may be formed by a layer deposition technique such as printing or spraying. For protection of the filter element, it is possible that the filter element is completely surrounded by another material, such as an adhesive or a glass layer.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the optoelectronic component emits white light when used as intended. White light may mean that a color location of the emitted mixed radiation is at a distance of at most 0.05 or 0.03 units from the blackbody curve in the CIE standard color chart. A correlated color temperature of the white mixed light is preferably at least 2500 K or 2800 K and / or at most 5000 K or 4500 K or 4000 K, for example between 2500 K and 4000 K, in particular 3000 K. In other words, it may be act on the white light to warm white light.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the optoelectronic component described here is used for illuminating business premises and / or goods displays, in displays or in general lighting.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the optoelectronic component has more than one light source. In particular, the component contains a plurality of light-emitting diode chips. These LED chips can have the same emission characteristics or emit in different colors. The filter element can be arranged downstream of all the LED chips or groups of light-emitting diode chips can be assigned to a single filter element or even each filter element is uniquely associated with exactly one LED chip.
Notwithstanding the above embodiments, it is alternatively possible that the primary radiation is completely converted by the conversion element into a secondary radiation. For a color locus stabilization, it is possible in this case that the filter element is located between the light source and the conversion element.
In addition, a method for producing an optoelectronic component is specified. In particular, a component is produced as indicated in connection with one or more of the above-mentioned embodiments. Features of the method are therefore also disclosed for the component and vice versa.
- A) Bereitstellen der Lichtquelle,
- B) Aufbringen des Konversionselements auf die Lichtquelle,
- C) Ermitteln des Farborts der Mischstrahlung, und
- D) Aufbringen des Filterelements auf die Konversionsschicht.
- A) providing the light source,
- B) applying the conversion element to the light source,
- C) determining the color location of the mixed radiation, and
- D) applying the filter element to the conversion layer.
The application of the filter element takes place, for example, by placing a filter plate. Alternatively, the filter element may be applied by a deposition method such as spraying or printing. It is possible that the filter element is glued on.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, a multiplicity of optoelectronic components are produced in the wafer composite. In this case, the light sources, in particular the blue light-emitting LEDs, are still on a wafer, for example on a growth substrate or on an intermediate carrier. A semiconductor layer sequence can already be singulated into the individual light sources. Furthermore, passivation layers and electrical contact layers are preferably present. Alternatively, the production takes place by means of an artificial wafer, which is different from a growth substrate and on which the light sources are already presorted with regard to their spectral properties, or by means of a so-called roll-to-roll process.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, the color location of the mixed radiation is determined by virtue of the fact that the light sources are briefly electrically operated after the conversion element has been applied. The mixed light generated during operation of the light sources is detected and the color location of the mixed radiation is determined. Alternatively, the conversion element can be excited by photoluminescence, whereby the emitted radiation is also detected. The color location of the mixed radiation can be extrapolated or determined via the detected photoluminescence radiation.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, a plurality of filter elements are provided, which have the same material composition, but which exhibit different geometric thicknesses and thus a different radiation retention capacity. For example, the filter elements are glass filters having different thicknesses. A thickness graduation is for example 0.05 mm or 0.1 mm or 0.15 mm. Alternatively or additionally, a plurality of different filter elements, ie filters of different material composition, can be provided, in the same or different thicknesses. Different filter materials may be present individually or in combination or in different concentrations.
In accordance with at least one embodiment, a suitable filter element is determined from the plurality of provided filter elements and subsequently applied to the corresponding conversion element, so that the component as a whole emits radiation having the desired color location.
