Description
The present invention relates to a tribologically optimized composite material based on plastics, comprising a matrix-forming plastic, at least one solid lubricant, carbon fibers and Mg (OH) 2 , and the use of this composite material as a sliding bearing material.
Plain bearings are of central importance in mechanical and equipment engineering and are therefore used in important industries such as the automotive, aerospace and aerospace industries. In many cases, one endeavors to perform the bearings maintenance-free. To be able to achieve freedom from maintenance, the slide bearings must have good dry-running properties, that is to say they must also be functional without the addition of liquid lubricants, for which purpose the materials used must be capable of high tribological loads.
For this purpose, for example, plastics are used as the base material, which contain fillers with which the dry-running property of the plain bearings can be improved. The composition of the composites has a great influence on their tribological properties. As a result, certain tribological properties can be set for a certain stress range. However, there is a lack of opportunity to control tribological properties over a wide range of stress targeted or cover a wide range of stress with a single formulation.
Thus, the object of the present invention is to provide a tribologically optimized composite material based on plastics, whose tribological properties can be specifically controlled over a wide range of stresses and / or which can cover a wide range of stresses with a formulation.
This object is achieved by the embodiments characterized in the claims.
More particularly, a first aspect of the present invention relates to a tribologically-optimized plastic-based composite comprising a matrix-forming plastic, at least one solid lubricant, carbon-cut fibers, and Mg (OH) 2 .
Here, the term "tribologically optimized plastic-based composite material" refers to a composite material which uses a plastic as the base material and whose tribological properties can be selectively controlled over a wide range of stresses or which can cover a wide range of applications with a single formulation. In the following, the terms "plastic as base material" and "matrix-forming plastic" are used synonymously for each other.
According to the invention, the tribologically optimized composite material based on plastics comprises Mg (OH) 2 . In the case of tribological stress, the material initially works like a conventional tribocompound (tribological composite material). However, if the stress causes flash temperatures in excess of 400 ° C, locally Mg (OH) 2 is converted to Mg (O) to form water vapor), which acts as a highly lubricious interlayer. From a certain thermal stress decomposes the mandatory intended, selectively used Mg (OH) 2 to produce a "water vapor cushion effect". Thus, the material switches to a new mechanism at higher stress. The tribologically optimized composite material based on plastics according to the invention has significantly better emergency running properties. In the case of local overheating, the chemical process begins with the "steam cushion effect". As soon as the temperature drops again, this chemical process stops and the tried and tested Geitlagerzusammensetzung fulfills the tribological task. In the prior art, the use of Mg (OH) 2 as a flame retardant is merely known, but not the use of Mg (OH) 2 in composite materials to form such a highly slippery intermediate layer in the flash temperature of over 400 ° C.
In a preferred embodiment of the tribologically optimized composite material based on plastics according to the invention, the content of Mg (OH) 2 is from 5 to 40% by weight, preferably from 10 to 35% by weight, more preferably from 12 to 28% by weight. most preferably from 14 to 26 weight percent, based on the total weight of the composite.
