Bei einem hydraulischen Ausgleichselement (39) für die Ventilbetätigung in einer Brennkraftmaschine, mit einem Gehäuse (40) und einem darin längsverschieblich angeordneten Kolben, welcher aus einem Kolbenoberteil (41) mit einem Ölvorratsraum (44) und einem Kolbenunterteil (42) mit einem Kugelventil (43) besteht, durch welches der Ölvorratsraum (44) von einem Hochdruckraum (45) für Öl getrennt ist, wobei das Kolbenunterteil (42) eine in dem Hochdruckraum (45) befindliche Ringwand (46) aufweist, ist erfindungsgemäß die Ringwand (46) des Kolbenunterteils (42) mit zumindest einem radial durchgehenden Schlitz (48) versehen.
