Abstract
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Behandlung einer Faser, insbesondere zur Erhöhung des Flammpunktes einer Faser, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Faser mit einer Plasmapolymerbeschichtung versehen wirdThe invention relates to a method for treating a fiber, in particular for increasing the flash point of a fiber, characterized in that the fiber is provided with a plasma polymer coating
Description
There are a variety of fiber material, for. B. natural fiber material such as wool fibers (eg from sheep), cotton fibers, silk and the like and beyond also synthetically produced fiber material z. B. viscose fiber. Viscose fibers are chemical fibers (regenerated cellulose fibers) which, starting from cellulose, today predominantly in the form of wood pulp, are industrially spun with the aid of the viscose process, the most widely used wet-spinning process. The pulp is converted in successive stages of the process by treatment with caustic soda to form alkali cellulose, which is subsequently converted with carbon disulfide to cellulose xanthate. By a further addition of sodium hydroxide solution, the viscose spinning solution is produced, which is pumped through holes of shower-like spinnerets in the spinning bath. There is formed by coagulation per spinneret hole a viscose filament. By stretching and further processing steps and combining the individual filaments, viscose filament yarns or viscose fibers are produced by additional cutting. Previously, the viscose filament yarns were called rayon or artificial silk, the staple fibers as a cell wool. The chemical composition of the viscose fibers with the basic component cellulose is similar to that of the cotton.
Also, cotton fibers are known in a wide variety of varieties and cotton fibers are also typical representatives of a natural fiber, which are obtained from the cotton plant.
All of the aforementioned fibers are the subject of the present invention.
All of the aforementioned fibers have in common that they have a certain fiber-typical flash point, in particular, especially materials from these fibers have a certain flash point and all fibers and all products of such fibers have a certain fiber-typical acid and alkali resistance.
The object of the invention is therefore to provide the aforementioned fibers with a modified flash point, in particular to increase the flash point and also to improve the acid and alkali resistance. The invention achieves the object with the method described in claim 1. Advantageous developments are described in the subclaims.
Claim 1 describes a method for hydrophobizing a fiber by means of a plasma coating method. In this case, a vacuum plasma coating method is preferably used.
If so far fiber materials of all types, eg. As well as viscose fibers to get a better hydrophobic property, such viscose fibers are interwoven with plastic fibers, added, verstickt etc. Such plastic fibers consist for. B. of polyester. The disadvantage of such plastic fibers is that they are petroleum-based and after use of the thus treated fiber with the displacement of the plastic fiber, a fiber mixture is formed, which can hardly be reasonably separated from each other. Since all fiber materials are often thrown away after their use and thus reach the environment, thus also get the plastic fibers into the environment and thus burden the environment in no small measure, especially in the form of micro plastic particles, which in the meantime, the rivers and seas burden. Thus, the invention also solves the problem of ensuring the hydrophobing without the use of plastics and at the same time the flash point of the fiber according to the invention is increased, for. B. by 5 to 10 ° C or more.
In the method according to the invention, the fiber material is used as a raw material, for. B. Viscose fiber as raw material. The plasma-polymer coating in the low-pressure method gives each individual fiber a coating whose layer thickness can be set individually, preferably the layer thickness is in the range from 20 to 500 nm, particularly preferred are layer thicknesses in the range from 100 to 300 nm, but any other layer thickness is also particular preferred, depending on the purpose.
Through the coating, each individual fiber of the fiber material retains a significantly reduced surface energy, which is preferably in the range of 15 to 40 mN / m 2 , a typical value, and thus also preferred, is a surface energy of 22 to 28 mN / m 2 .
The fiber treated according to the invention now has a particularly high chemical stability to acetone, ethanol, toluene, cyclohexane and also isopropanol (but also gasoline). At the same time, the electrical conductivity of the individual fibers is also reduced, because the applied layer is preferably non-conductive due to the plasma-polymer coating. The coating on the fiber itself consists after the plasma polymerization of the chemical materials silicon, oxygen, carbon and hydrogen.
The fiber treated by the process of the invention has radically new properties which are extremely surprising. On the one hand is the Flash point of the fiber by a few degrees Celsius z. B. 5-10 ° C or more upwards, which makes the use of the fiber according to the invention for completely new applications possible. On the other hand, the acid and alkali resistance is significantly improved, which in turn also allows a new use of the fiber, especially in environments in which the fiber material is exposed to acids or alkalis.
The hydrophobization of the fiber material is also striking and dramatic. While an untreated fiber material z. B. an untreated viscose material is virtually hydrophilic, so water and liquid attracting, the treated fiber material is extremely hydrophobic, ie water or liquid repellent.
Also, the coating itself is completely transparent and thus the aesthetics of the entire fiber material is not adversely affected.
The plasma polymer coating can be carried out as a cold plasma polymer coating, ie either under atmospheric pressure or as low pressure, e.g. Example, as a vacuum method, ie at a pressure of 10 -2 , preferably 10 -3 bar or less. In particular, in the plasma polymer coating in the vacuum or low pressure process, the coating temperature in the range of 50 ° C or significantly lower, so that the material to be coated itself is not affected by temperature and thus receives its Ausgangsstruktureigenschaft.
The plasma polymerization itself is a process in which gaseous monomers, excited by a plasma, precipitate on the fiber material as highly crosslinked layers. The prerequisite for this process is the presence of chain-forming atoms such as carbon, silicon or sulfur in the working gas. Since the monomer molecules in the plasma are "smashed" to a large extent to reactive particles, the chemical structure of the starting gas in the product remains at most partially, resulting in networking and disordered structure. Structure content and degree of crosslinking can be targeted control over the process parameters such as pressure, working gas flow and injected electrical power, so you can build on so-called gradient layers, the z. B. have an increasing over the thickness degree of crosslinking. This development mechanism of plasma polymers gives rise to particular layer properties which make them suitable for a large number of applications; in particular, the plasma polymer adheres excellently to the fibers, which themselves have a thickness of a few μm or nm. A typical fiber thickness is concrete z. B. between 0.5 microns to 10 or 50 microns, other fiber diameters are also suitable to successfully carry out the inventive method.
Durch die extreme Hydrophobierung des Fasermaterials lassen sich auch Textilmaterialien, in denen das erfindungsgemäße Fasermaterial verarbeitet wird, hervorragend reinigen bzw. nehmen selbst kaum Schmutz an.Due to the extreme hydrophobization of the fiber material and textile materials in which the fiber material according to the invention is processed, clean excellent or even accept even little dirt.
Due to the different layer structure of fibers or fiber materials according to the invention and fiber composite materials which are treated according to the invention (1st layer), with fibers or fiber composite materials which are untreated (second layer), it is thus possible to build up layers which, on the one hand, have a completely different hydrophobic structure Have liquid absorption property, but overall also have a significantly higher flash point and are acid-resistant overall, which is particularly the case when the fiber of the invention (or layer so) is outside and the untreated fiber layer (2nd layer) includes.
The use of the fiber according to the invention for the most varied textiles (jackets, shoes, headgear, shirts, underwear, pullovers, etc.) and the most diverse textile functions as mats, industrial textiles, filter materials, personal hygiene materials (for example for feminine hygiene or for diapers of babies etc.), the fiber according to the invention is outstandingly suitable. Also, the use of the fiber or fiber materials according to the invention as a layer material in wound plasters, sanitary napkins, feminine hygiene products etc. or the like is very suitable in which a layer is formed with the fiber material according to the invention, which then rests against a functional layer, for. B. with a certain drug, nanosilver or the like and the fiber layer according to the invention then lies outside, so that moisture from the outside can not get to a wound or the like. Nevertheless, the fiber or fiber layer according to the invention allows a good transpiration of moist air from the wound side to the outside.
The invention is explained below with reference to various examples.

Since the plasma polymerization is established at the atomic level, the individual fibers of the fiber material to be treated are completely covered with a plasma polymerization layer of a desired thickness, so that when the fiber layer is exposed, for example, to an elevated temperature, the fiber treated according to the invention is also thermally protected by the layer itself and thus, as desired, the flash point of the fiber is significantly increased (when the flash point of the coating is above that of the fiber). As a result of the layer, however, the individual fiber treated according to the invention becomes chemically inert, so that material such as acid, alkali, etc. can not directly attack the fiber material, but the fiber material is protected by the polymer coating according to the invention. As a result, the acid and alkali resistance of the fiber treated according to the invention or of the layer with this fiber as well as of the products comprising the fiber according to the invention increases significantly overall.
