Offenbarung der ErfindungDisclosure of the invention
The invention has for its object to provide with simple measures an electrically heatable filter element for a filter device.
Die Unteransprüche geben zweckmäßige Weiterbildungen an.This object is achieved with the features of claim 1. The dependent claims indicate expedient developments.
The filter element according to the invention for a filter device has at least two, optionally more than two filter layers or layers, wherein at least one of the layers is provided with an electrically heatable material. The electrically heatable material is introduced into the base material of the respective filter layer from which the filter layer at least substantially consists, a coating on the fiber surface of the filter layer is not required.
By applying an electrical voltage, a current flows through the electrically heated or heatable material, whereby the desired heating effect is achieved in the material of this filter layer. The electrically heatable material is added to the base material of the heatable filter layer and thus completely integrated into the base material. The surface of the filter layer or of the fibers, of which the filter layer is made, is expediently designed without coating the heatable material, even if optionally a coating of heatable material may additionally be provided. With the application of the electrical voltage that filter layer is heated, the base material is provided with the electrically heatable material, whereby a total of heating of the filter element is achieved.
The filter element is used by way of example for a fuel filter, in particular a diesel filter for a motor vehicle. In general, an application is both as a liquid filter and as a gas filter into consideration, for example, for the intake air of internal combustion engines or the cabin air for vehicles. When heating cabin air via the filter element according to the invention, it is also possible to regenerate an activated carbon layer which serves to clean the fresh air to be supplied to the cabin air. As a further field of application come into consideration urea filters, which are heated to avoid freezing of the water contained in the urea solution.
In principle, it is sufficient that only one of the filter layers is provided with the electrically heatable material, whereas the other filter layers have no such, electrically heatable material.
Als elektrisch be- bzw. aufheizbares Material kommt zum Beispiel Carbon Nanotubes (CNT) in Betracht. For example, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) can be considered as electrically heatable material.
The base materials of the layer, the electrically heatable material, and the one or more further filter layers may differ from each other in at least one material parameter, for example, consist of different polymers, wherein a non-heatable filter layer, if necessary, from other material, such as. Cellulose can exist. According to a further expedient embodiment, it is provided that the base materials of the first and second filter layers have different melting or decomposition points, wherein the filter layer or filter layers, which have no electrically heatable material, advantageously have a higher melting or decomposition point than that with the electrically heated material provided base material of the further filter layer. This makes it possible to provide a thermal overload protection in which, in the case of a malfunction that leads to exceeding the desired heating temperature, the base material of the filter layer, which comprises the electrically heatable material, melts, whereby the flow of current is interrupted and further heating is excluded. Due to the higher melting or decomposition point remains on the other hand, the further filter layer is intact and can continue to perform its filtration functions.
At least one of the filter layers, advantageously at least the one whose base material is provided with the electrically heatable material, is composed of fibers, which are advantageously produced in the meltblown process. In this case, melted granules are conveyed through a spinning pump to a nozzle block in an extruder, wherein the meltblown material is stretched after exiting the nozzle by compressed hot air. This process creates a microfibre fleece. The electrically heatable material can be added during the meltblown process. It is also possible to provide electrically heatable material already in the granules.
However, other processes for producing fibers, for example spunbond processes, are also suitable, although in this case too, the electrically conductive material is either already incorporated in the starting material or metered in during the spunbond process.
If appropriate, all filter layers can be constructed from fibers which are advantageously produced in the meltblown or spunbond process, ie also those filter layers which have no electrically heatable material.
