Description
The invention relates to a galvanic system comprising a plurality of galvanic cells and a degassing device for discharging a fluid escaping from one or more of the galvanic cells, wherein each of the galvanic cells or each one of a plurality of groups of galvanic cells connected via a respective inlet opening with the degassing device is. A galvanic system in the sense of the present invention may in particular be a battery system or an accumulator system or a fuel cell system.
Stand der TechnikState of the art
Such galvanic systems are known in the prior art and are used in particular as energy storage for the electric drive of hybrid, plug-in hybrid or electric vehicles. In particular, fuel cell systems with a plurality of fuel cells or battery systems or accumulator systems with a plurality of rechargeable battery cells or accumulator cells are used as the galvanic system. In battery systems, preferably rechargeable lithium-ion cells are used as battery cells due to the comparatively high energy density.
The problem with such galvanic systems and in particular with battery systems with rechargeable lithium-ion cells is that there may be an unwanted gas evolution in the galvanic cells.
The causes of this are generally system malfunctions or extreme operating conditions such as excessive heat. The problem will be explained in more detail below by way of example for a galvanic system with lithium-ion cells as galvanic cells.
Against this background, it is an object of the present invention to improve a galvanic system with a plurality of galvanic cells and a degassing device, in particular a battery system with a plurality of rechargeable battery cells and a degassing device, in particular that intact galvanic cells in the case of Cell degassing are better protected against a fluid released from a galvanic cell and advantageously before a pressure increase associated with a cell degassing within the degassing.
Offenbarung der ErfindungDisclosure of the invention
To achieve the object, a galvanic system comprising a plurality of galvanic cells and a degassing device for discharging a fluid escaping from one or more of the galvanic cells is proposed, wherein each of the galvanic cells or one of a plurality of groups of galvanic cells via in each case one inlet opening the degassing device is connected, and the inlet openings are each closed with a closure element, wherein the closure member closing an inlet opening releases the inlet opening in the event of leakage of fluid from a via this inlet opening connected to the degassing galvanic cell, so that the escaping fluid through the released inlet opening can flow into the degassing, and wherein the closure member closing an inlet opening, a discharge of a fluid from the degassing via di e closed with the closure element inlet opening prevented. A galvanic system in the context of the present invention is in particular a battery system which comprises a plurality of battery cells, in particular of rechargeable lithium-ion cells, or else a fuel cell system which comprises a plurality of fuel cells. Battery cells can in particular be battery cells, that is, rechargeable battery cells. In particular, it is provided that the galvanic cells are electrically interconnected, preferably to at least one module. In this case, at least two modules can in turn be electrically connected to one another, with it being provided in particular that each module is a grouping of galvanic cells in the sense of the present invention.
A degassing device in the sense of the present invention is in particular a degassing channel or a degassing collector, which can at least receive and advantageously discharge a fluid escaping from a galvanic cell, in particular a gas or aerosol escaping from a galvanic cell. The degassing device of the galvanic system according to the invention can be designed in particular as a metallic tube, for example in the manner of a square tube, wherein at least one side of the tube openings, preferably inventive inlet openings, or connection lines with openings, preferably with inlet openings according to the invention. The degassing device is advantageously connected to the openings or the connection lines with the galvanic cells in such a way that a fluid released from a galvanic cell flows into the degassing device via the openings or the connection lines. The connection of the degassing device to the galvanic cells is advantageously sealed, so that a fluid released from a galvanic cell can only flow into the degassing device and does not escape to the external environment.
During normal operation of the galvanic system, that is to say in particular when none of the galvanic cells is in a critical state, which leads to a degassing of the galvanic cell, the inlet openings, via which the galvanic cells are connected to the degassing device, are advantageously in each case through a closure element sealed. An inlet opening is preferably in each case closed in such a way with a closure element, that this only then releases the inlet opening, when a fluid escapes from a connected via this inlet opening with the degassing galvanic cell. On the other hand, if a fluid is released into the degassing device by another galvanic cell, which is not connected to the degassing device via this inlet opening, then the closure element occluding this inlet opening does not release the inlet opening. The closure element of this inlet opening advantageously does not release the inlet opening even when the released fluid or the increased pressure associated with the release of the fluid acts on this closure element. The closure element thus advantageously prevents outflow of a fluid from the degassing device via the inlet opening closed by the closure element. Preferably, a seal is arranged on the closure element, so that the sealing element closing the inlet opening closes the inlet opening in an improved manner. The seal may in particular be designed as a sealing lip surrounding the inlet opening.
According to a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the closure element occluding an inlet opening releases the inlet opening under the action of a fluid escaping from a galvanic cell connected via this inlet opening with the degassing device. As already explained, a fluid formed by a galvanic cell, in particular an electrolyte which has been converted into a gaseous state, is released from the galvanic cell in the manner of an impact surge. According to the invention, it is provided in particular that, under the influence of this pressure surge, which acts on the closure element, the inlet opening closed by the closure element is released. It is provided according to a design variant that the closure element is removed under the influence of the escaping fluid from the inlet opening such that the inlet opening remains open thereafter. According to a further advantageous embodiment variant is also provided that the closure element resumes the original position when the action of the escaping fluid decreases and closes the inlet opening again.
A further advantageous embodiment of the galvanic system according to the invention provides that the galvanic cells each have a safety valve, which is designed such that a fluid formed within a galvanic cell of the galvanic system can escape via the safety valve from the galvanic cell. This safety valve advantageously comprises in particular a valve opening and a bursting element inserted into the valve opening, preferably a bursting membrane inserted into the valve opening. If the pressure within the galvanic cell increases, in particular as a result of gas formation within the galvanic cell, the safety valve opens and releases the valve opening. In particular, the safety valve can release the valve opening by bursting a bursting membrane inserted into the valve opening by the increase in pressure. The fluid formed within the galvanic cell then exits the galvanic cell via the valve opening. A fluid escaping from a galvanic cell in this way then acts on the closure element occluding the corresponding inlet opening, the closure element advantageously opening under the action of the escaping fluid. The fluid escaping from the galvanic cell can then flow into the degassing device via the released inlet opening.
In a further advantageous embodiment of the galvanic system according to the invention, a fluid-permeable material mesh, preferably a fluid-permeable mesh, is arranged directly adjacent to the closing element closing an inlet opening, in particular in such a way that the material mesh stabilizes the closure element against a pressure effect taking place from the degassing device. The material braid is not connected to the closure element. The material braid furthermore makes it possible for a fluid escaping from a galvanic cell to act on the closing element which closes the inlet opening, via which the galvanic cell is connected to the degassing device. Under this action, the closure element occluding this inlet opening advantageously releases the inlet opening so that the escaping fluid can flow into the degassing device via the released inlet opening. Since the fluid flowing into the degassing device within the degassing device can also cause a high increase in pressure, which acts on the closing elements closing the further inlet openings, it is particularly advantageous that the closure elements are respectively stabilized by a braided material against a pressure effect from the degassing device. The closure element thus advantageously does not release the inlet opening even under the action of pressure exerted by the degassing device and thus prevents the outflow of a fluid from the degassing device.
According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the closure element firing an inlet opening closes the inlet opening under the influence of a retaining force, the closure element releasing the inlet opening upon overcoming the retention force by a fluid escaping from a galvanic cell via this inlet opening with the degassing device. The retention force can be exerted in this case in particular by a spring element on the closure element. By a retaining force acting on the closure element, the tightness with which the closure element closes an inlet opening is advantageously further increased. In addition, the retention force advantageously causes the closure element automatically closes the inlet opening again, as soon as the force acting on the closure element force is less than the retention force of a fluid escaping from a galvanic cell. Advantageously, a galvanic cell is thus separated from the degassing after quenching, as it were.
In a further advantageous embodiment of the galvanic system, the closure element occluding an inlet opening is a bursting element, in particular a bursting membrane. One Such a closure element designed as a bursting element advantageously releases the inlet opening under the action of a fluid which escapes from a galvanic cell and which escapes from the galvanic cell in a surge-like manner, in that the bursting element bursts under the action of pressure. Advantageously, the bursting element is designed in such a way, preferably by appropriate shaping and / or by the provision of corresponding predetermined breaking points, that the bursting element bursts under pressure from a fluid escaping from a galvanic cell. Furthermore, the bursting element is advantageously designed in such a way that it withstands pressure exerted from the degassing device, in particular pressure due to release of a fluid from another degassing galvanic cell. If the closure element is designed as a bursting element, it is particularly advantageous to combine this with a fluid-permeable material mesh, in particular a mesh, which is arranged directly on the bursting element. The material braid is advantageously facing the galvanic cell and the bursting of the degassing. By means of the fluid-permeable material braid, the bursting element is advantageously advantageously further stabilized against a pressure action taking place from the degassing device.
According to a further particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the closure element firing an inlet opening is a non-return valve, in particular a spring-loaded non-return valve. The non-return valve closes the inlet opening advantageously such that it releases the inlet opening under the action of a pressure-imparting fluid escaping from a galvanic cell, so that the fluid can flow from the galvanic cell via the released inlet opening into the degassing device. An opening of the check valve by the action of a force acting on the check valve from the degassing force is advantageously prevented.
In particular, it is provided that the closure element occluding an inlet opening is a non-return flap. In this case, provision is made in particular for a closure element designed as a check flap to be arranged at an inlet opening such that the non-return flap completely covers the inlet opening. To release the inlet opening the check valve opens advantageously by pivoting in the degassing. For this purpose, it can be provided in particular that the non-return valve is arranged on a hinge. Advantageously, a spring element is also provided, which exerts a retaining force on the non-return valve. If a cell degassing occurs, the fluid flowing out of the galvanic cell advantageously overcomes the restraining force exerted by the spring element, so that the non-return valve opens and the fluid can escape into the degassing device. If the cell is degassed, so that no more fluid flows out of the galvanic cell and no pressure is exerted on the check valve, the check valve is returned by the spring element in the original position in which the non-return valve closes the inlet opening. This advantageously prevents a fluid from the degassing device escaping via a degassing of a further galvanic cell via this inlet opening.
According to an advantageous embodiment variant, a fastening mechanism for the non-return valve is provided, for example, a notch into which the non-return valve engages, wherein the detent is overcome only under pressure as a result of cell gassing, so that the non-return valve releases the inlet opening. As a further advantageous alternative, the non-return valve may be frictionally inserted into the inlet opening, wherein also in this embodiment, the non-return valve opens only under pressure as a result of cell gassing and the inlet opening releases.
According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the galvanic cells or the grouping of galvanic cells are each at least partially surrounded by a housing or an attachment, wherein the housing or the attachment has the inlet opening. In this embodiment variant of the invention, the degassing device is advantageously connected to this housing or with this attachment. A fluid flowing out of a galvanic cell can then flow into the degassing device via the inlet opening in the housing or the attachment if the inlet opening has been released by the closure element. In such an advantageous embodiment, in which the galvanic cells each have a corresponding housing or a corresponding attachment, the housing or the attachment is advantageously arranged above the safety valve of the respective galvanic cell. A fluid formed within the galvanic cell can thus advantageously escape first from the galvanic cell via the safety valve of the galvanic cell and then from the galvanic cell into the degassing device through the inlet opening released by the closure element. If a grouping of galvanic cells has a corresponding housing or a corresponding attachment, this is advantageously likewise arranged such that a formed from a galvanic cell grouping of galvanic cells fluid via the safety valve of the corresponding galvanic cell exits and can escape from the galvanic cell via the inlet opening of the housing or the inlet opening of the attachment in the degassing. The article may in particular be designed in the manner of a cover, in particular as a cell housing cover.
In an advantageous embodiment variant of the galvanic system according to the invention, the galvanic cells or the groups of galvanic cells are at least partially covered by an attachment, so that the attachment is arranged between the galvanic cells and the degassing device, wherein the attachment has the inlet openings. The article is advantageously designed as a lid, in particular as a module cover. A galvanic system according to the invention designed as a battery system can in particular be constructed in such a way that galvanic cells, in particular rechargeable lithium-ion cells which are known in the prior art, are electrically interconnected, preferably to one or more battery modules. The modules are advantageously provided in this embodiment variant each with a module cover having the inlet openings, wherein the inlet openings are respectively arranged above the safety valves of the galvanic cells. The inlet openings of the module cover are closed by a closure element, preferably by on the side facing away from the galvanic cells side of the module cover check valves are mounted. The module covers of this battery system are then gas-tightly connected to a degassing device, in particular such that the openings or connection lines of the degassing device formed corresponding to the inlet openings are arranged above the inlet openings of the module cover or the module cover. If a fluid is formed in a galvanic cell which escapes pressure-pressure-like from the galvanic cell via the safety valve of the galvanic cell, then the check valve closing the inlet valve releases the inlet opening under the action of the fluid escaping from the galvanic cell, so that the fluid escapes through the shared inlet opening in the degassing. An uncontrolled release of the released fluid to the environment is thereby advantageously prevented.
According to a further advantageous embodiment variant of the galvanic system according to the invention, it is provided that the degassing device has the inlet opening, preferably in correspondingly formed connection lines, with which the degassing device is connected to the galvanic cells or the groupings of galvanic cells. Such a configuration has the particular advantage that a detachment of the degassing is prevented by the galvanic cells due to a strong pressure rise within the degassing due to a cell degassing. The forces resulting from the pressure increase in the case of a cell degassing act in this embodiment variant advantageously on the walls and the occlusion of the closing openings and thus within a closed system. If the closure elements are not arranged inside the degassing device, the pressure surge associated with a cell degassing could cause the degassing device to detach from the galvanic cells. In such a case, the fluid released from a galvanic cell would inadvertently be released to the environment.
