Description
The present invention relates to a mixer device for mixing a gas stream, in particular for distributing and evaporating a liquid introduced into a gas stream, in particular into an exhaust gas stream.
The problem of reliably vaporizing and distributing a liquid in a suitable manner in a gas stream, for example to allow a chemical reaction of components of the gas stream with components of the vaporized liquid, arises in many fields of application. In exhaust gas technology, this problem arises, for example, in connection with the SCR process, in which an aqueous urea solution is introduced into the exhaust gas line of a motor vehicle, for example by means of a metering pump or an injector. Thermolysis and hydrolysis produce ammonia and CO 2 from the urea solution. The ammonia thus produced can react in a suitable catalyst with the nitrogen oxides contained in the exhaust gas, which are removed so efficiently from the exhaust gas.
In this method, it is of particular relevance that the urea solution is fed in a suitable ratio to the amount of nitrogen oxide contained in the exhaust gas. In addition, it is of great importance that the introduced into the exhaust stream urea solution is evaporated as completely as possible and evenly distributed in the exhaust gas stream.
In order to ensure efficient distribution and evaporation of the liquid introduced in the gas flow, a mixing device is often provided in the flow direction behind the point of introduction of the liquid. Although conventional mixing devices in many cases provide an acceptable degree of homogenization of the gas flow, there remains a need for efficient mixing means to achieve as complete and, in particular, rapid distribution of the liquid in the gas flow without unduly hindering the flow of exhaust gas. In other words, the mixer device should generate as little counterpressure in the exhaust gas flow as possible.
Efficient mixer devices are in demand especially in the exhaust gas technology. Namely, the greater the efficiency of the mixing device, the better the amount of urea injected into the exhaust gas flow can be adapted to the amount of nitrogen oxides contained in the exhaust gas. Ultimately, this leads to an improved emission control.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide an efficient mixing device for distributing and vaporizing a liquid introduced into a gas stream, with which the smallest possible counterpressure increase is associated. The mixer device should also be easy and inexpensive to produce.
This object is achieved by a mixer device with the features of
According to the invention, the mixer device comprises at least a first mixer and a second mixer, which are arranged one behind the other in the flow direction of the gas stream. The first mixer and the second mixer each have a first longitudinal section and a second longitudinal section, which are arranged one behind the other in the flow direction of the gas flow. The first longitudinal section has a first contour in a plane perpendicular to the flow direction of the gas flow. The second longitudinal section has in a plane perpendicular to the flow direction of the gas flow to a second contour, which is formed wave-shaped in the circumferential direction.
In other words, the geometry of the two mixers varies in the longitudinal direction. The two longitudinal sections can adjoin one another directly or merge into one another. However, it is also conceivable that further components or mixer sections are arranged between the two longitudinal sections.
At least the second contour is undulating. By way of example, the second contour may be designed so that it is reminiscent of the shape of a flower in said plane. In particular, the first and second mixers are so-called flower mixers. Due to the wave-shaped configuration of the cross section of the second longitudinal section of the two mixers, partial streams are generated in the gas stream, which lead to better mixing of the gas stream and in particular enable a fluid introduced into the gas stream - in particular a liquid - to distribute reliably in the gas stream.
The shape of the mixer also supports the evaporation of the introduced liquid. Namely, when the liquid droplets strike the hot material of the mixers, they at least partially evaporate or burst, producing smaller and therefore easier to evaporate secondary droplets.
Due to the circumferentially undulating configuration of at least one longitudinal section of the two mixers, moreover, the surface area of the mixers is increased, as a result of which the mixing and evaporation effect is increased. The arrangement of the two mixers in Direction of flow in succession supports this effect, without increasing the associated back pressure excessively.
The waveform of the second contour may be regular or irregular, i. For example, the amplitude and / or shape of the waveform varies in the circumferential direction. The first contours of the two mixers may be the same or different. The same applies to the second contours.
Further embodiments of the invention are indicated in the description, the claims and the attached drawings.
According to one embodiment, the second contour oscillates around a projection of the first contour. In other words, the regular or irregular waveform of the second contour extends in a common projection plane perpendicular to the flow direction of the gas flow in sections outside and inside the first contour. In principle, however, it is also possible to design the second longitudinal section in such a way that the second contour-viewed in the projection plane-runs completely within or outside the first contour.
In the case of a second contour oscillating about the first contour, provision may be made for sections of the second contour running outside the first contour to define larger or smaller area sections than sections of the second contour extending radially within the first contour. As a rule, a 1: 1 ratio of the surface sections is advantageous since a corresponding configuration of the mixer device often generates only a comparatively low counterpressure.
In particular, the second contour includes or defines protrusions and constrictions located between adjacent protrusions. The bulges can have a diverging section in the circumferential direction in a radial direction from the inside to the outside, so that they have a drop-shaped or club-shaped form. The vertex lines of the bulges extending in the flow direction of the gas flow and the corresponding apex lines of the constrictions are inclined and / or curved at least in sections relative to a center axis of the mixer device. As apex lines in this context lines are to be understood, which define the local maxima or minima of the bulges or the constrictions. In other words, the crest lines extend longitudinally along the local maxima or minima of the bulges or the constrictions. For example, the apex lines of the bulges converge toward the first contour. Accordingly, the apex lines of the constrictions may be divergent, i. In this case, they each extend from a point located radially within the first contour towards the first contour.
The two mixers can be arranged "twisted" to each other. The first mixer and the second mixer are in particular arranged such that viewed in the flow direction of the gas flow at least one of the bulges of the second contour of the first mixer is aligned with at least one of the constrictions of the second contour of the second mixer, or vice versa. All bulges of the second contour of the first mixer are preferably aligned with one of the constrictions of the second contour of the second mixer, and vice versa.
According to an advantageous embodiment, a free end of the second longitudinal section of the first mixer forms an upstream end of the first mixer, and a free end of the second longitudinal section of the second mixer forms a downstream end of the second mixer. For example, the first longitudinal section of the first mixer faces the first longitudinal section of the second mixer.
The first mixer and the second mixer may be connected to each other. In particular, the two mixers are connected to each other in a gastight manner in order to give the mixing device particular stability and to make the passage of the gas flow from the first mixer into the second mixer more efficient.
In particular, the first and / or the second mixer are formed without interruption, so that a gas passage through the respective wall of the mixer or not is possible. The same may apply to any connection between the two mixers.
A particularly cost-effective design results when the first mixer and the second mixer are essentially identical parts. These can be manufactured separately, for example. Subsequently, they are arranged in the desired manner in the mixer device, for example in an opposing orientation and twisted to each other.
The mixer device may comprise a housing section in which the first mixer and the second mixer are arranged, wherein a cross-sectional area of the housing section in the flow direction of the gas flow is covered by more than 70%, in particular more than 80%, by the mixer Covered area a straight flow through the Mixer device is prevented. In other words, the mixer device is at least 70% opaque, so that in-flowing liquid droplets are highly likely to be deflected and / or collide with at least one of the two mixers, thereby providing improved mixing of the gas stream and vaporization of the droplets. The risk that liquid particles fall into a downstream region of the mixer device and possibly even get into a downstream catalyst, where they could be harmful, is thereby reduced.
The first contours and the second contours may be configured so that, seen in the flow direction of the gas flow, a region results which is blocked neither by the first mixer nor by the second mixer. This area is defined in particular by radially inner end sections of constrictions of the second contours. In order to achieve an at least partially opaque embodiment also in this area, there may be provided a flow-conducting and / or flow-blocking element there, for example a locking disk and / or a mixing device of conventional design.
The first contour is preferably substantially circular or oval. The second contour can basically be of any wavy configuration. In many cases, however, an embodiment of the second contour proves to be advantageous, which is symmetrical to at least one plane of symmetry and / or has a rotational symmetry. An axis of symmetry of the rotational symmetry is arranged in parallel, in particular coaxially to the flow direction of the gas flow. In the present context, a rotational symmetry is to be understood as a symmetry in which the rotation of the second contour by a certain angle about the axis of symmetry brings the second contour back into coincidence with itself. The axis of symmetry passes through the centroid of the shape formed by the second contour. For example, the rotational symmetry is threefold when the second contour is imaged onto itself again by rotations of 120 ° and 240 °. Basically, any rotational symmetry is possible. It is also conceivable to design the bulges and constrictions described above differently so that complex variants of the second contour can be generated in order to achieve the respectively required mixing properties.
According to a further embodiment, the first mixer and / or the second mixer are sheet metal parts.
