Optical coherence tomography (OCT) coherence interferometers are also well known in the art. In the field of ophthalmoscopy, these analyzers are used regularly for a detailed examination of an eye in the region of an anterior eye segment, a posterior, retinal eye segment or also for a so-called whole-eye scan. In the optical coherence interferometry coherent light is used with the help of an interferometer for imaging and distance measurement on reflective and scattering eye tissue. Due to changes in the refractive index occurring at optical interfaces of the eye and due to volume scattering, measurable signals can be obtained by means of an optical coherence interferometer.
The basic principle of optical coherence interferometry is based on white-light interferometry and compares the propagation time of a signal by means of an interferometer, such as an interferometer. B. a Michelsen interferometer. In this case, an optical reference arm with a known optical path length is used as a reference to an optical measuring arm or measuring beam with which an eye to be examined is scanned. The interference of the signals from both arms results in a pattern from which a relative optical path length within a depth profile, also referred to as an A-scan (amplitude-mode scan), can be read out. In multidimensional scanning methods, a measuring beam can be guided transversely in one or two directions, which results in a two-dimensional tomogram, which is also referred to as a B-scan (brightness-mode scan). Also, by means of a depth adjustment of a measuring range, a three-dimensional volume can be recorded as a so-called C-scan (c-scan).
In contrast to conventional light microscopy, in optical coherence tonometry the transverse is decoupled from the longitudinal resolution. The transverse resolution is determined by the numerical aperture of the optics used. By contrast, the longitudinal spatial resolution into a depth of the material depends on a spectral width of the light used.
Essentially, two basic types can be distinguished in the optical coherence tonometry methods used in ophthalmology. In a first type, a reference arm of an interferometer can be changed in length and continuously measure an intensity of the interference, without taking into account a spectrum. This method is referred to as a "time domain" method after a signal measurement in the time domain. In the second type, the spectrum is taken into account to determine the measured values and an interference of the individual spectral components is detected. This method is called a "frequency domain" method. The "frequency domain" method does not require a movable reference arm, allowing easy and fast simultaneous measurement. In particular, complete information about a depth can be determined. The "frequency domain OCT" again differentiates between two subgroups in which, on the one hand, the signal is time-coded, ie recorded sequentially, or spatially coded, that is, spatially split, but recorded simultaneously. Since the spectral information obtained by means of spatial splitting of the signal can be detected by means of a spectrometer, this method is also called "spectral domain OCT".
Further, a method for obtaining an OCT whole-eye scan is known in which an optical coherence interferometer can be combined with another imaging analysis system. Because with the optical coherence interferometer tomographic images of different areas of the eye at different Scanning reference arm lengths, these subscans must be assembled into an overall image of the eye. The partial scans overlap in order to enable a precisely fitting combination of acquired image data sets. The further analysis system can be used to supplement the whole-eye scan with further image data or, for example, also topographic data of the cornea. In this case, the whole-eye scan represents a reference image data record which, depending on the need for a necessary eye examination, is partially supplemented in the region of the eye section to be examined with the image data of the further analysis system. This is advantageous in that with the optical coherence interferometer, compared to other analysis systems, optical interfaces and in particular an eye length can be determined particularly accurately. Thus, a measurement of an eye length with a Scheimpflugsystem with a comparable accuracy is not possible.
Beim „time domain”- bzw. In the known OCT method, it is disadvantageous that the acquisition of an image acquisition can not take place directly, d. H. that a corresponding period is required for scanning the male eye section by means of the measuring beam. If a depth scan to be obtained, moreover, an adjustment of the reference arm with the appropriate amount of time is required. In the "time domain" or "frequency domain" method, a sequential recording or a spectral tuning of a light source of the coherence interferometer may be required, which likewise prevents a simultaneous recording of an eye segment. Thus, eye movements in the time interval of the image acquisition with the optical coherence interferometer can lead to a falsification of the measurement results. Due to the convex surface of the cornea of the eye, an offset of the measuring beam transversely to the eye in an X-axis also leads to a change in the distance in the direction of a Z-axis and possibly to an offset in a Y-axis. The movement of the eye thus causes a change in the curvature of the cornea surface relative to the measuring beam and possibly a change in a refractive index in the examination region of the eye. In particular, the change in curvature of the cornea results in a further measurement error, since the measuring beam is deflected differently, for example, at the corneal surface by the movement of the eye and the change in curvature caused thereby. While eye movements can be detected by offsetting a received signal, this does not allow correction of a measurement error resulting from a change in curvature.
When imaging an eye portion with a Scheimpflug system, the problem of measurement errors due to eye movements hardly occurs because the entire sectional image, against a scanned image, is taken substantially at the same time, since an exposure time of a camera chip is comparatively short. If, nevertheless, a comparatively fast eye movement takes place within an exposure period, a recorded sectional image appears blurred. However, this can be prevented regularly due to the simultaneous and comparatively fast image acquisition during a measurement.
The present invention is therefore based on the object of proposing a method and a device for measuring an eye with which a particularly high-resolution image acquisition of a region of the eye is made possible, whereby measurement errors caused by movement of the eye during a measurement period are to be avoided ,
This object is achieved by a method having the features of claim 1 and an analysis system having the features of
The method according to the invention for examining or measuring an eye geometry of a human eye, in particular in the region of a front eye portion of an eye, is carried out with an ophthalmological analysis system, wherein the ophthalmological analysis system comprises a first analysis system for acquiring sectional images of the eye, wherein the first analysis system a projection device and an observation device, which are arranged according to the Scheimpflug rule relative to each other, wherein the ophthalmological analysis system comprises a second analysis system for obtaining sectional images of the eye, wherein the second analysis system is formed from an optical coherence interferometer, wherein the ophthalmological analysis system comprises a processing means , wherein with the first analysis system a first image data set and with the second analysis system a second image data set from at least one matching recording plane of the eye is obtained, wherein the processing means processes the first and the second image data set, wherein by means of the processing means the first image data set is at least partially supplemented with data of the second image data set.
In particular, the fact that the first image data record which was recorded with the first analysis system or a Scheimpflug system is at least partially supplemented or combined or combined with the second image data set of the optical coherence interferometer can significantly improve an information density or resolution of the first image data set in a supplemented subsection of the first Image data set can be achieved. Since it is only necessary to obtain more detailed image information in a limited area of the first image data set or of the first image image that is essential for a specific eye examination, it is sufficient if the first image data set in only the partial area is supplemented with the second image data set. The second image data set can then be recorded particularly quickly with the optical coherence interferometer by scanning a slice image in the matching recording plane of the eye, whereby a risk of eventual movement of the eye during the recording of the second image data set is considerably reduced. Overall, it is thus possible with the image acquisition of a sectional image by the Scheimpflugsystem or the first analysis system to capture a comparatively large area of an eye, such as a front eye portion, and represent with the optical coherence interferometer a selected portion of the area with high resolution and detail and so as to avoid potential measurement errors due to eye movements. The addition of the first image data set with the data of the second image data set is carried out by means of the processing device or means for data processing, by means of which both image data sets are combined to form a result image data set. A geometric evaluation of the result image data record as well as its image representation takes place with the known method for image data processing and display.
In one embodiment of the method, an image acquisition of a cornea of the eye can take place by means of the second analysis system alone with a "frequency domain" method. An advantage of the "frequency domain" method lies in a simple and fast simultaneous measurement, whereby complete information about a depth of the measurement can be determined without a movable reference arm being made possible. To further increase a measurement speed, a "spectral domain" method can be used, wherein a spectral information of a signal obtained by means of a spectrometer in parallel, d. H. at the same time. A spectral domain OCT system is relatively simple and inexpensive to obtain. Next can then be measured to a depth of at least 3 mm in the receiving plane of the eye.
Furthermore, by means of the second analysis system for obtaining an image recording, a depth profile recording of a cornea of the eye can take place. By means of a so-called amplitude-mode scan or A-scan, a two-dimensional image recording or a sectional image can be obtained from the recording plane of the eye. An A-scan is very fast compared to a B-scan or C-scan and is done by scanning the eye along the scan plane. Nevertheless, B and C scans can also be performed in modifications of the method.
It is particularly advantageous if the first and the second image data record are acquired or recorded substantially simultaneously. Thus it can be avoided that an eye movement can take place between the first image recording and the second image recording. By the simultaneous recording of the first and second image data set possible sources of error in a measurement are excluded.
Furthermore, a correction of the second image data record after the first image data record can take place before the supplementing of the first image data record. The first image data set may then be used as a reference image data set after the second image data set is positioned relative to the first image data set. Furthermore, any recording errors in the second image data set which may be caused by an eye movement in the recording period of the second image data record can be corrected such that the second image data set is at least partially recalculated while taking into account a curvature of a cornea known from the first image data set. A change in the curvature of the cornea by an eye movement during a scan with the optical coherence interferometer can then be used to recalculate the parts of the eye scanned after eye movement.
Also, the second image data set can be aligned or corrected for optical boundary surfaces determined from the first image data set, for example by comparing both image data sets. The optical interfaces that are contained in the first image data set are particularly well suited for the alignment or correction of the second image data set, if this has been falsified by an eye movement. It is also possible to scale the second image data set after the first image data set, if the second image data set should be distorted or should have a different scale.
By means of the first analysis system, refractive indices and / or a topography of a cornea can be determined, which can be taken into account in the correction of the second image data set. This makes it possible to perform an even more accurate correction of the second image data set.
Preferably, the first image data set can be overlaid with the second image data set. This makes it possible to have less detailed representations of one subarea of the first image data set with more detailed representations of the second Overlay image data set such that the relevant area of the first image data set is covered or alternatively recalculated by additive image processing.
In order to obtain a three-dimensional image data record from an eye, a plurality of first and second image data sets can be obtained in a sequential sequence, wherein the common recording plane of the first and second analysis system can be pivoted about a visual axis of the eye. The sectional images taken in the sequential sequence are then assembled by means of the processing device into a three-dimensional model of the eye. The rotation of the first and the second analysis system about the visual axis can be at least 180 °, so as to pivot the receiving plane evenly over the area of the anterior eye portion. Accordingly, the receiving plane can be rotated axially around the visual axis, with up to 100 slice images, each with the first and the second analysis system, being able to be recorded successively at different angles α relative to a horizontal plane.
It is also advantageous if a relative position of at least one optical interface of the eye determined with the first analysis system is determined as a reference surface or a reference point for the second analysis system. By means of the first analysis system, a relative position of the eye to be examined relative to the analysis system can be precisely determined. This also makes it easy to detect eye movements while taking a sequence of slices. A sectional image obtained with the second analysis system can then be arranged spatially with respect to the eye, particularly simply according to the associated cross-sectional image of the first analysis system or the associated cross-sectional image recording of the sequence of the first analysis system. As a reference surface or point, an optical interface of the eye, such. As the corneal surface, are used.
The first analysis system and the second analysis system can each emit light or electromagnetic radiation with mutually different wavelength ranges. As a result, the advantage can be achieved that the respective beam paths can be congruent, wherein a separation of the beam paths or a separate image acquisition can take place via suitable optical filters. For example, light having a wavelength of 800 nm can be advantageously used for the optical coherence interferometer, since commercially available infrared sensors can then be used commercially. The projection device of the first analysis system can, for example, emit light of a wavelength of 475 nm. Incidentally, as much as possible glare of a person to be examined is avoided.
The ophthalmic analysis system according to the invention for examining or measuring an eye geometry of an eye, in particular in the region of a front eye portion of an eye, comprises a first analysis system for acquiring sectional images of the eye, wherein the first analysis system is formed by a projection device and an observation device, which according to the Scheimpflug rule are arranged relative to each other, and further comprises a second analysis system for obtaining sectional images of the eye, wherein the second analysis system is formed from an optical coherence interferometer, wherein the ophthalmic analysis system comprises a processing means, wherein the first analysis system, a first image data set and with the second Analysis system, a second image data set from at least one matching recording plane of the eye is obtainable, wherein the processing means is adapted to the first and the second image data can process sentence, wherein by means of the processing means of the first image data set with data of the second image data set is at least partially supplemented. With regard to the advantages of the ophthalmic analysis system according to the invention, reference is made to the description of advantages of the method according to the invention.
The second analysis system, in addition to the optical coherence interferometer, a beam steering device, such. B. a mirror, a prism or a lens, by means of which a measuring beam of the optical coherence interferometer can be projected onto the cornea, wherein the measuring beam can be deflected within or in the receiving plane so that the eye along the receiving plane to obtain a second Image data set can be scanned by the measuring beam. Consequently, a beam path of the second analysis system can be deflected or deflected by the beam steering device as a measuring beam, so that the measuring beam lies in the receiving plane. To record a sectional image, the measuring beam can then be moved through the recording plane or moved along a line in which the recording plane intersects a cornea of an eye. For example, to obtain a cross-sectional image by means of the optical coherence interferometer then at least 4000 measuring points per lateral image with a lateral resolution of about 4 microns can be measured.
Furthermore, the beam deflection device can be designed such that the measurement beam is projected onto a surface point of a cornea can, with the measuring beam relative to a tangential plane of the surface point, at a different angle than 90 °, projected onto the cornea. The surface point therefore corresponds to the point at which the measuring beam impinges on the cornea. Since the measuring beam then impinges relative to the tangential plane and not perpendicular to the cornea, there is no direct reflection of the measuring beam from the surface of the cornea. A direct reflection is very bright and can lead to glare in a detection of the reflection beam, which are very difficult to correct. Such radiations can be effectively avoided.
The beam steering device alone may have a movable tilting mirror, which is arranged between the eye to be examined and the second analysis system, wherein the tilting mirror can then be arranged in a measuring axis of the analysis system. With the tilting mirror, it is then possible to deflect a beam path of the second analysis system, which runs relative to the eye, as a measuring beam. Preferably, the second analysis system can be designed so that the beam path runs in the direction of a visual axis of the eye and hits the tilting mirror, which then deflects the measuring beam. Since only a line-shaped scan of the eye by means of the measuring beam is required to acquire a sectional image, only one tilting mirror is required on its own. A capture of a slice image or of a second image data set can take place, for example, within 20 to 40 milliseconds. Then it is also possible to record the second image data record essentially simultaneously with the first image data record.
The ophthalmic analysis system is particularly easy to form when beam paths of the first and the second analysis system run together on the measuring axis, and then when the tilting mirror is a dichroic mirror. With the dichroic mirror, it is then possible to separate the respective beam paths. For example, the dichroic mirror may be configured so that only light of the second analysis system is reflected. Light of the first analysis system can then pass unreflected by the tilting mirror.
The beam steering device may further comprise an aspherical concave mirror, which may be arranged in the direction of a beam path of the second analysis system following a tilting mirror and by means of which the beam path or a measuring beam of the second analysis system can be deflected onto a cornea of an eye to be examined, wherein the concave mirror so It can be configured such that an optical path length of the beam path of the second analysis system or of a measuring arm of the optical coherence interferometer to the cornea can be essentially unchanged when scanning different points of the cornea. Accordingly, the deflected from the tilting mirror measuring beam can be deflected to the aspheric concave mirror and then deflected from the aspheric concave mirror on the cornea of the eye. The concave mirror or aspherical concave mirror then makes it possible to keep the length of the measuring arm or of the associated beam path of the optical coherence interferometer substantially constant or the same relative to a surface of the cornea. An axial measuring range or a measuring depth of the optical coherence interferometer can thus be substantially adapted to the surface of the cornea.
Thus, a measuring range of the second analysis system can be adapted to a curvature of a cornea. It is initially irrelevant how the curvature adjustment takes place. Depending on the shape of the concave mirror, the measuring area in the receiving plane may have a depth of at least 3 mm and may be designed in the shape of an arc, adapted to the cross-sectional shape of the cornea. In such an embodiment of the ophthalmic analysis system, a measuring distance to an eye to be examined may be, for example, about 80 mm.
In order to obtain image data sets which enable a three-dimensional reproduction of an eye, the common recording plane of the first and second analysis systems can be disposable about a visual axis of the eye by means of a rotation device, wherein the optical coherence interferometer can then comprise an optical fiber which is mechanically separated from the rotation device is decoupled. The rotation device can be formed for example by the first analysis system, wherein a camera in a Scheimpflug arrangement about the visual axis or a measuring axis of the eye can be rotated together with the projection device or a slit illumination. At the same time, a rotation of a measuring beam of the optical coherence interferometer can take place by means of a beam steering device relative to the recording plane. If a beam path of the optical coherence interferometer of the rotating beam steering device is supplied via an optical fiber, it may be necessary to mechanically decouple the optical fiber from the rotation of the beam steering device or the rotating device. This is particularly necessary if a completely free rotation of the rotation device is possible. Furthermore, a spectrometer of the optical coherence interferometer can also be integrated within a device housing of the first analysis system. Moreover, it is possible to form the first and the second analysis system in a common housing.
