Description
Gegenstand der ErfindungSubject of the invention
The invention relates to the use of metal phosphates, individually or as a mixture of at least two different metal phosphates or as a production-related mixture of metal phosphates as microwave susceptors for the production of a matrix material which is heated by irradiation with microwaves and gives off heat to the environment.
Hintergrund der ErfindungBackground of the invention
In the food sector, products are increasingly being offered which the consumer can prepare ready for consumption in the product packaging, such as ready meals. The products are either already essentially completely cooked and are only heated for consumption or the products are still raw or only pre-cooked or prebaked and are cooked or baked in the product packaging completely or finished. For heating, depending on the product and the method of heating, the products are heated in the closed or opened package in the oven, in a water bath or in a microwave oven.
Heating in a microwave oven offers a particularly convenient, simple and fast method for heating products in their packaging. For this purpose, product packages are known, which are specially designed and suitable to heat the products contained therein using microwaves in a microwave oven.
Simple microwave packages allow the microwave radiation to pass through the packaging material so that the microwave radiation penetrates the product contained therein and heats the product, as it does when heating products which are heated without packaging, for example on a plate, in the microwave oven. The microwave radiation in the product causes dipole and molecular vibrations in the water molecules, but also in other polar molecules, whereby heat is generated. However, this method of microwave heating is not suitable for all types of food. For example, when heated in the microwave oven, pasta such as pizza or rolls will generally not be as crispy as desired, but rather soft and moist. The direct heating of the product with microwave radiation is not suitable for browning the outside of the product, since the microwave radiation heats the entire product at the same time and the necessary external heat that alters the structure of the top layer is not generated.
Furthermore, microwave packages are known in which the packaging material itself or a coating applied thereto is provided with susceptor properties for microwave radiation, so that the package heats up by the microwave radiation and heats the product contained therein by emitted radiant heat or convective heat. This type of heating of the product is closer to heating in an oven than heating by direct interaction of the product with the microwave radiation. This makes such microwave packages suitable for a wider range of products, such as pasta. Unlike the direct heating of the product by the microwave radiation, the radiant heat or convective heat heats the product from outside to inside, so that products in such packages can also be browned on the outside.
Examples of microwave packaging susceptor properties for microwave radiation include packaging materials with a thinly deposited layer of aluminum, which can be heated in the microwave field to over 200 ° C and can deliver the heat to the product contained in the package. The production of such packages with a vapor-deposited metal layer is complicated and requires a very precise manufacturing method, since the thickness of the metal layer is in the range of optical density and slight deviations from the optimum thickness can lead to the desired effect is not achieved. Another problem is that plastic packaging sometimes can not withstand the high heating through the metal layer in the microwave field, since depending on the irradiation intensity and duration temperatures of 250 ° C and far beyond can arise.
To avoid this problem, a microwave package has been presented in which a metallized plastic layer has been additionally provided with small star-shaped holes which allow a portion of the microwave rays to pass unimpeded through the plastic layer to the product while the remainder of the microwave radiation is converted from the metal layer to infrared radiation and provides for heating of the product from the outside by radiant heat or convective heat. The advantage of this Arrangement is that the temperature of the packaging material does not exceed about 200 ° C and thus the stability of the packaging can be guaranteed. A strip-wise occupancy of the plastic layer with metal is known to achieve a corresponding effect. The heated product then receives from outside the corresponding stripe pattern and looks as if it had been on a grill.
Other microwave susceptors used in the manufacture of packages include aqueous acid-doped polyanilines, semiconductor materials, and ceramics. Some of these materials are not suitable or approved for food packaging and some are very expensive, expensive to produce or both. Their use is therefore in any case uneconomical in the disposable area, which includes, for example, the food packaging.
An excellent microwave susceptor is graphitic carbon, which also lends itself well to plastics packaging materials. However, graphite has the disadvantage that it dyes the matrix material deep black and does not allow the production of transparent packaging. But especially in the food industry, transparent packaging is preferred, since the packaged product should be visible through the packaging. The same problem also applies to some other susceptor materials, for example to the above-mentioned vapor-deposited metal layers or to metal powders incorporated into a matrix material.
Aufgabetask
The object of the present invention was therefore to provide a material which is improved over the prior art and suitable for the production of microwave packaging, which has good absorption properties for microwave radiation and at the same time permits the production of transparent microwave packaging.
Beschreibung der ErfindungDescription of the invention
This object is achieved by the use of metal phosphates, individually or as a mixture of at least two different metal phosphates or as a production-related mixture of metal phosphates as microwave susceptors for the production of a matrix material which is heatable by irradiation with microwaves and gives off heat to the environment, the Mikrowellensenszeptoren in the matrix material finely dispersed, dispersed or dissolved and wherein the metal phosphates under orthophosphates (PO 4 ) 3- , hydro genphosphaten (HPO 4 ) 2- , dihydrogen phosphates (H 2 PO 4 ) - , diphosphates (P 2 O 7 ) 4- (Pyrophosphates), tripolyphosphate (P 3 O 10 ) 5 or higher condensed phosphates having an average chain length of 3 to 50 of the alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, iron (Fe), copper (Cu), aluminum (Al), manganese (Mn ), Zinc (Zn) or tin (Sn), or combinations of said metals.
Mikrowellensuszeptormicrowave susceptor
A microwave susceptor in the sense of the present invention is a substance which can be excited by means of microwave radiation. By irradiation and excitation with microwaves he provides for a heating of the environment.
Herstellungsbedingte MischungProduction-related mixture
A so-called production-related mixture of metal phosphates according to the present invention is not prepared by conventional mechanical mixing of individual metal phosphates but can advantageously be provided by dewatering an aqueous metal phosphate solution, preferably a metal orthophosphate solution which can also be prepared directly by combining their starting materials phosphoric acid and metal compound, in the rotary tube, in the spray tower or in a drum drying plant. It is possible to produce chemical mixtures of metal phosphates with different chain lengths by means of special temperature profiles. Combinations of monophosphates, diphosphates, triphosphates and optionally also higher-condensed phosphates of one or more different metals, depending on the compounds used, are formed. The different phosphates are next to each other molecular and not as individual crystals as in mechanical mixtures. Such production-related metal phosphates can have a significantly better solubility and dissolution rate than mechanical mixtures of comparable composition.
In the production of production-related mixtures in the rotary ear, both the DC and the countercurrent method can be used. In the DC process, the phosphate solution is sprayed through a flame reaching into the rotary tube onto a hot bed of already dehydrated product. The material then moves with the hot air flow to the discharge end and is thereby dehydrated. During production in the spray tower, the phosphate solution is sprayed through multi-component nozzles into the spray tower head. In the spray tower head, a flame zone is created by burners. The sprayed phosphate solution moves downwards in co-current with the burner gases and is thereby dehydrated.
The metal phosphates used according to the invention as microwave susceptors have the advantage over many known microwave susceptors that they are as a rule not harmful to health. Many suitable metal phosphates are even approved for the food industry, so they can be safely used for the production of food packaging. They are safe even in direct contact with food. In addition, the metal phosphates used according to the invention as microwave susceptors can generally be incorporated easily and in relatively high amounts into many matrix materials used as packaging without significantly adversely affecting the material properties.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the microwave susceptor is monozinc phosphate (Zn (H 2 PO 4 ) 2 ), trizine phosphate (Zn 3 (PO 4 ) 2 ), zinc pyrophosphate (Zn 2 P 2 O 7 ), monocalcium phosphate (Ca (H 2 PO 4 ) 2 ), tricalcium phosphate (Ca 3 (PO 4 ) 2 ), hydroxyapatite (Ca 5 (PO 4 ) 3 OH), iron III-orthophosphate (FePO 4 ) and tricopper-II-phosphate (Cu 3 (PO 4 ) 2 ) including their anhydrates and hydrated forms and mixtures of the foregoing. Very particular preference is given to iron (III) orthophosphate (FePO 4 ) and the abovementioned zinc phosphates, in particular monozinc phosphate (Zn (HPO 4 ) 2 ), which have excellent absorption properties for microwave radiation and, even at relatively high concentrations, do not impair the transparency of a matrix material.
In a further preferred embodiment of the invention, the microwave susceptor is present in the matrix material in an amount of from 0.5 to 20% by weight or from 1 to 15% by weight or from 2 to 10% by weight or from 3 to 7% by weight .-% finely divided, dispersed or dissolved before, based on the weight of the matrix material.
If the concentration of the microwave susceptor in the matrix material is too low, the absorption properties of the microwave radiation matrix material may be too low to achieve sufficient heating. If the concentration of the microwave susceptor in the matrix material is too high, the material properties can be considerably impaired, which is particularly disadvantageous if the material is to perform further structural functions in addition to microwave absorption, for example in the form of films or molded parts for packaging purposes.
In a further preferred embodiment of the invention, the microwave susceptor in powder form with a mean particle size d50 of 1-50 μm is introduced into the matrix material.
A too low average grain size of the microwave susceptor has the disadvantage that the powdery material can form agglomerates, which can be poorly incorporated into the matrix material and in particular complicate or prevent a fine distribution in the matrix material. Too high a mean grain size of the microwave susceptor has the disadvantage that the material properties of the matrix material can be impaired. If the matrix material is a thin film, too high a mean grain size of the microwave susceptor can lead to the film having a tangible roughness.
In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the matrix material is a polymer material or a polymerisable or curable liquid composition.
In einer ersten bevorzugten Alternative ist das Matrixmaterial ausgewählt unter Thermoplasten, thermoplastischen Elastomeren, Elastomeren und Duroplasten, vorzugsweise unter Polyamiden, Polyvinylestern, Polyestern, Polyurethanen, Säurecopolymeren, Polycarbonaten, Polystyrolen, Ionomeren, Polyolefinen, Polyvinylbutyral (PVB), Polypropylen (PP), Polyethylen (PE), Polyamid (PA), Polybutylenterephthalat (PBT), Polyethylenterephthalat (PET), Polyester, Polyphenylenoxid, Polyacetal, Polymethacrylat, Polyoxymethylen, Polyvinylacetal, Polystyrol, Acryl-Butadien-Styrol (ABS), Acrylnitril-Styrol-Acrylester (ASA), Polycarbonat, Polyethersulfon, Polyetherketon, Polyvinylchlorid, thermoplastischem Polyurethan, Silikon und/oder deren Copolymeren und/oder Gemischen und/oder Blends der vorgenannten. In a first preferred alternative, the matrix material is selected from thermoplastics, thermoplastic elastomers, elastomers and thermosets, preferably polyamides, polyvinyl esters, polyesters, polyurethanes, acid copolymers, polycarbonates, polystyrenes, ionomers, polyolefins, polyvinyl butyral (PVB), polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polyamide (PA), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyester, polyphenylene oxide, polyacetal, polymethacrylate, polyoxymethylene, polyvinylacetal, polystyrene, acrylic-butadiene-styrene (ABS), acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylic ester (ASA) , Polycarbonate, polyethersulfone, polyetherketone, polyvinyl chloride, thermoplastic polyurethane, silicone and / or their copolymers and / or mixtures and / or blends of the aforementioned.
According to the invention, the matrix material is preferably in the form of a film, layer or thin layer, a molded part or a foamed molding, preferably in the form of a film, Layer or thin layer with a thickness in the range of 1 μm to 20 mm or in the range of 50 μm to 10 mm or in the range of 100 μm to 5 mm or in the range of 200 μm to 1 mm. In this form, the matrix material is particularly advantageous for the production of packaging.
Most preferably, the matrix material is a packaging material for goods to be heated in a package by means of microwave radiation, preferably food.
In a further alternative embodiment, the matrix material is a polymerizable or curable, liquid composition which is designed to coat at least in regions a sheet-like material, preferably a packaging material for goods to be heated in a package by means of microwave radiation, preferably food.
Suitable liquid compositions are, for example, polymerizing lacquers and paints, as well as hardening lacquers and paints. The lacquers and paints can be produced both on an aqueous basis and on the basis of organic solvents. However, other liquid compositions are also suitable in which the metal phosphates according to the invention can be incorporated and which, after application to a substrate, form a solid coating which is stable at the temperatures occurring during microwave heating.
In the context of the liquid compositions herein, the concentration data for the microwave susceptors in the matrix material refer to the cured material. Paints, paints or other thermosetting compositions with the microwave susceptors according to the invention can for example be applied with advantage to the inner surfaces of packaging materials where they are heated by microwave irradiation and can deliver the heat as radiant heat and / or convection heat to the packaged product.

Beispiel 1example 1
In a plastic extruder, different amounts of metal phosphates were incorporated as microwave susceptors in an extruder into molten polymer matrix materials and the matrix materials further processed into thin plates.
To determine the suitability as materials for microwave packaging, 10 g of the respective matrix material were exposed to microwave radiation in a microwave oven at 300 W microwave power for 1 min. The temperature of the material after this heating time was determined by an infrared thermometer. Each experiment was performed in triplicate and the mean indicated as the result. The blank value determined was the heating of the corresponding matrix material without the addition of a microwave susceptor. For comparison, graphite carbon was used as a microwave susceptor.
Als Matrixmaterialien wurden Low Density Polyethylen (LDPE; Lupolen 1800 S, Fa. LyondellBasell) und Polypropylen (PP; HE125MO, Fa. Borealis) eingesetzt.
To test the heating properties of various metal phosphates and mixtures of metal phosphates and to judge whether they could be suitable as microwave susceptors, 20 g of the material were used as pure substances, i. H. not incorporated into a matrix material, exposed in the microwave oven at 300 W microwave power for 1 min of the microwave radiation and determines the temperature of the material after this heating time. Each experiment was performed in triplicate and the mean indicated as the result. As a reference material graphite was used, which has very high microwave absorption and therefore has very good susceptor properties.
