Description
The invention relates to a solar cell arrangement consisting of a plurality of, in particular crystalline, double half cells made of rear contact half cells which are interconnected via connecting conductors. Furthermore, it relates to a method for producing such a solar cell arrangement.
Stand der TechnikState of the art
Back-contact solar cells, i.e. MWT (Metal Wrap Through) cells, EWT (Emitter Wrap Through) cells or IBC (Interdigitated Back Contact) cells, represent, on the one hand, advantageous versions of silicon solar cells because they eliminate shading on the front side metallic conductor tracks (busbars) and the copper strips soldered to them is reduced. On the other hand, they are also more difficult to connect in series because the contacts for both polarities have to be made next to each other on the back. It is difficult to route the metallic connecting elements from one cell to another without creating a short circuit to surfaces with the opposite polarity.
- The ribbon technique uses the conventional stringer technique with copper ribbons. The contact pattern on the back of the solar cells must be designed asymmetrically so that the ribbons can be pulled linearly from cell to cell, thereby connecting the emitter contacts of one cell to the base contacts of the other cell.
With the foil technology, a Tedlar foil on the back is coated with copper foil, in which the connecting tracks are created using etching technology, which are then covered with solder mask. The solar cells are then placed on the back of this copper track structure using a pick & place robot and glued or soldered at the contact points. This technology has been implemented elegantly and fully automatically in a high-throughput production line.
All modern solar cells or modules suffer from the fact that after significant increases in efficiency in the recent past, a cell current of over 9A has to be led from one cell to the next via the series resistance R s and thus a considerable ohmic power loss R s *| 2 occurs. It has therefore often been suggested for standard cells to halve the solar cells transversely to the direction of current conduction and to connect the half cells in series, so that the voltage is doubled and the current is halved, thus reducing the power loss to a quarter.
This drastic improvement is particularly important for high-efficiency rear contact cells such as MTW, EWT and IBC cells, whose current strength is even higher than that of standard solar cells due to the significantly lower shading on the front. But for such back contact cells there is still no solution for half-cell formation and a cost-effective back connection technology adapted to it.

Offenbarung der ErfindungDisclosure of the invention
The invention provides a solar cell arrangement with the features of
The invention includes the concept of providing the two half-cells of a back-contacted “double half-cell” without special handling so that the side edges are aligned with one another. This is only possible if - in departure from the usual ideas of those skilled in the art - the idea of a straight line connection between the emitter contact rows of the half cell and the base contact rows of the second half cell is abandoned, i.e. a conductor section that runs obliquely to the half cell contacts or in an arc shape is provided. In contrast to conventional ribbon connection techniques, this can be achieved with round wires in a reliable and technologically relatively inexpensive manner, which is why the invention also includes the idea of providing round wires as connectors, on the one hand between the half cells of a double half cell and on the other hand to neighboring double half cells in a string. heard.
Overall, the solar cells, which have rear emitter and base contacts arranged in mutually parallel rows, are arranged in such a way that the contact rows of adjacent solar cells are aligned with each other. The wires connect the emitter contacts of a first solar cell to the base contacts of the neighboring solar cells. For this purpose, the wires run obliquely or arcuately between the soldering or adhesive pads of adjacent solar cells from the emitter contact row of the first solar cell to the base contact row of the adjacent solar cells or vice versa.
In particular, the connecting conductors designed as wires are made from at least one of the materials copper, tin, nickel, aluminum and silver or an alloy thereof. In a first embodiment, the surfaces of the solar cells on which the connecting conductors run are essentially electrically insulated, with the exception of the soldering or adhesive pads, and the wires are uninsulated. In another embodiment, the wires have an insulating sheath that is locally removed only in the area of their connection with soldering or adhesive pads.
- - A finished back-contact solar cell is sucked electrostatically or by vacuum onto a heated metal holding plate divided into two halves and preheated to a suitable temperature between room temperature and soldering temperature.
- - Round wires are deformed with an offset to the lines specified by the pad positions and soldered to the emitter pads on one of the two halves of the solar cell and the base pads on the other half of the same cell.
- - Using laser beam ablation, a groove or a perforation line made of ablated holes and thus a predetermined breaking line is created in the wires on a line in the middle of the solar cell transverse to the direction of current flow.
- - By tilting one half of the holding plate, the solar cell is broken along the predetermined breaking line.
- - By introducing an insulating material into the fracture plane and folding back the raised solar cell half, a dielectric separation is created between the half cells.
- - In a first machine, the steps described above for producing the serially coupled half cells (double half cells) are first carried out.
- - The double half cells are electrically characterized.
- - The rejects are sorted out into a bathroom box.
- - The double half cells with values within the specification range are sorted into magazines according to their performance classes.
- - Double half cells of one performance class are introduced from the magazine into a soldering station in a second machine (stringer) via an optical quality control.
- - In the soldering station, the double half-cells are soldered by soldering the pre-formed “string wires” into a string of at least 2, whereby the first and last double half-cells are provided with protruding “end wires” which are used for cross-connection between the neighboring strings or for the Connection to the junction box can be used.
- - Half back contact cells can be connected to each other on one side to form double half cells; the technical effort is lower than with double-sided half cells.
- - The use of wires enables the connection of half cells with any geometric variants of pad shapes and pad arrangements.
- - The insulation between the wires and the half-cell metallization can be done either on the half-cell surface using solder mask or on the wire using a set of varnish-insulated wires.
- - The use of stiff, ie elastic, round wires couples half-cells into mechanically stable double half-cells, especially when an insulating adhesive is introduced into the fracture surface before the halves are rejoined.
- - The coupling wires and the string wires preferably have the same shape and length; that is, the soldering device for coupling the half cells to form double half cells can have the same technical construction as the soldering device in the stringer for connecting the double half cells to form a string.
- - The mechanical coupling of the half-cells to form electrically serially connected double half-cells can be carried out so completely without any gaps due to the insulating adhesive material in the break line that no dividing line between the insulated half-cells can be seen in the module.
- - The layup to completely cover the module surface with the soldered strings and the lamination with the encapsulation material and the backing film can be done in the same way as with today's standard stringers.
- - Soldering sufficiently long end wires to the first and last cells of a string enables very simple cross-connection of the strings and easy connection to the junction box by bending, laying and soldering.

So wären z. The number N of cell strips and thus of pad rows contacted per wire can be chosen arbitrarily between N=3 and z. B. N=7. The larger the number N, the thinner the wires can be chosen for the connection technology according to the invention, because the cell's current is divided between these N wires. The number M of emitter contact points per cell strip can be the same as N or different. This would be e.g. B. Combinations (N,M) = (5,10) or (6,7) are also conceivable. This choice is the responsibility of optimizing the cell efficiency of the respective cell concept (MWT, EWT, IBC). The number of emitter contacts M and base contacts can be slightly different; if e.g. For example, if the base contacts are at a gap to the emitter contacts, their number can deviate by 1 up or down (M emitter contacts, M-1 or M+1 base contacts).
