Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method and a device for the dynamic control of at least one traffic signal system.
The traffic flow at a traffic junction can be improved by a traffic signal (LSA). A distinction is made between the so-called fixed-time control and the traffic-adaptive control system. A traffic-adaptive controller requires additional sensors for the acquisition of traffic data.
The influencing of the traffic flow takes place classically over so-called signal transmitters of the LSA. If both the vehicles and the LSA are equipped with communication technology, there is, in principle, another possibility for influencing them: the LSA can announce switching times early and recommend an adapted speed to the vehicle driver. This concept is called GLOSA (Green Light Optimized Speed Advisory).
The challenge of the LSA control is to use all available options to improve the traffic flow. The underlying optimization problem consists of minimizing the so-called loss or waiting times. The loss time is the time that a vehicle loses at an LSA compared to the ideal case that the vehicle can pass the intersection without speed reduction.
In principle, the methods used in the traffic signal circuit are divided into three generations. First generation methods are the already mentioned fixed-time controls. They have a firm plan, according to which the various phases are processed, are thereby very robust, but also not flexible. In practice, several such programs are usually provided at a facility for various traffic situations, which are typically based on the time of day (morning, noon, afternoon / evening, night).
Second generation methods are the traffic-actuated (usually called traffic-adaptive) controls. These decide on the basis of less easily measurable variables such as the current time gap (the time elapsed since the last passage of the detector by a vehicle) and the occupancy of the detector (the time that vehicles were above the detector). whether the current phase is extended or not. In this way, they use stochastic fluctuations in the traffic flow, which are caused by fluctuations in demand, different reaction times and vehicle lengths, to improve the flow of traffic. If the demand at the intersection in question reaches its saturation point, the actuated control automatically becomes a fixed-time control.
After all, third-generation methods take a completely different approach and try to calculate the optimal switching sequence not just for local information but for a whole stream of vehicles.

From "N. H. Dynamic programming is a method for algorithmically solving optimization problems. Dynamic programming can be used successfully if the optimization problem consists of many similar sub-problems and an optimal solution to the problem consists of optimal solutions of the sub-problems. In dynamic programming, first the optimal solutions of the smallest subproblems are calculated directly and then put together to a solution of a next larger subproject. This process continues until the original problem has been solved. Once calculated partial results are stored in a table. Subsequent similar subproblems use these intermediate solutions instead of recalculating them each time. If dynamic programming is used consistently, it avoids costly recursions, because well-known partial results are reused.

The method or the device comprises at least one arithmetic unit. The arithmetic unit is designed such that the arithmetic unit calculates a circuit diagram for the at least one traffic signal system by means of dynamic programming and controls the traffic signal system in accordance with the circuit diagram. For this purpose, the arithmetic unit receives data about vehicles in the access roads to the traffic signal system via at least one interface, the data comprising at least the number and the position of the vehicles. For example, the data can come directly from the vehicles or can be detected by sensors, for example by means of cameras. The vehicles may be designed, for example, as FCD vehicles (floating car data) and / or have a C2I (Car to Infrastructure) or C2X communication device. In the arithmetic unit, a circuit diagram for optimizing a traffic parameter of the traffic signal system is calculated at least on the basis of the data taking into account a permissible speed interval of the vehicles (or time window of the vehicles until reaching the LSA). In this case, the speed interval takes into account the maximum permissible speed of the vehicle and a minimum speed which the vehicle can have when approaching the traffic light system. This can also be expressed by a time window. In addition to the data of the vehicles and parameters of the traffic signal system are taken into account even in the calculation of the circuit diagram, such. B. a minimum phase duration, a blocking time between the phases, a time to pass through the intersection unbraked or from the stop state. The circuit diagram thus calculated is then transmitted to the vehicles, it then being possible to calculate in the vehicles at which speed the vehicle must or should optimally approach the traffic light system. Alternatively, this vehicle-specific speed can be transmitted directly to the vehicles or displayed to the vehicles by suitable display means. Thus, according to the invention, for the first time an adaptive control is combined with GLOSA, which contributes to a considerable increase in efficiency. The possibility of influencing the speed of the vehicles via GLOSA can be used to optimize dynamic control. The prerequisite for GLOSA is a stable prediction of the switching times. This allows the dynamic programming method, which allows creating a stable schematic, for example, for the next 10 to 100 seconds in real time. The circuit diagram thus determined takes into account all specifications such. B. minimum and maximum release times and blocking times in an optimal way for the individual node, the circuit diagram takes into account the influence of driving recommendations from GLOSA. The circuit diagram thus determined is not bound to a clock frame, but optimizes switching times to the second and for individual vehicles. It should be noted that it may well happen that a switching time mentioned in a later message is updated. This can result, for example, from the fact that other vehicles log on to the traffic signal, so that the circuit diagram must be adjusted. However, it is ensured that the switching times communicated to the vehicles by the traffic signal system or the arithmetic unit can be maintained by the vehicle.
Each variable (traffic parameter), which can be calculated from the (continuously transmitted) vehicle data, can be optimized. One of the most important and commonly used traffic parameters is lost time: that is the difference between the actual travel time of a road user and the shortest possible travel time. In the case of a straight line, this is simply the length of the route under consideration divided by the permitted speed. When turning, further time stamps following from the geometry, the driving physics and the scheduling of the driver enter the shortest possible travel time. When optimizing at the single node, the loss time until the node has passed is to be optimized. But also the energy consumption of the vehicles can represent a variable to be optimized, which only changes the type of information that the vehicle has to transmit to the arithmetic unit.
In a further embodiment, the data from the vehicles additionally include a speed of the vehicle and / or a type of vehicle and / or a turning intention of the vehicle, which are taken into account in the preparation of the circuit diagram. The knowledge of the current speed can be taken into account in such a way that strong delays or accelerations are avoided for these vehicles. The type of vehicle may be, for example, the information as to whether a vehicle is a bus of public transport or whether it is a hybrid vehicle. Thus, for example, the loss time of vehicles of the ÖNV can be weighted more heavily, so they are preferably left without stopping over the intersection. On the other hand, it can be taken into account in energy optimization that a hybrid vehicle can recuperate braking energy so that it can be braked more strongly by the circuit diagram.
Die Fig. zeigen:The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to a preferred embodiment. The figures show:
- – Das ist möglich, da sich jedes Problem A[i, j] direkt aus den Lösungen A[i – 1, j] und A[i, j – 1] ermitteln lässt.
- Given are the three time windows H = [(1, 10), (20, 35)] and V = [(3, 15)] for the three registered vehicles,
- - determination of optimal switching times by means of dynamic programming,
- - Definition of the subproblems A [i, j] with i from the set (0, 1); and j from the set (0, 1, 2),
- Optimal plan (here: minimum loss time) to direct i vehicles out of V and j vehicles out of H over the node,
- - A 2 × 3 matrix A is constructed line by line, each line representing the optimal solution for a subproblem.
- This is possible since each problem A [i, j] can be determined directly from the solutions A [i-1, j] and A [i, j-1]. This is a necessary condition to be able to apply dynamic programming and is given for the present problem, see diagram.
- - In each row of the matrix A, the following values must be carried: • "t": time at which the next vehicle can drive to the intersection • "l": accumulated loss of time of all vehicles • "p": phase, which in this Line was switched • "r": Earliest possible time for the next phase change • "s": Time of phase change or "no phase change".
Der letzte Schaltzustand ist demnach 'V'.The cell A [1, 1] corresponds to the traffic condition in which a vehicle from the horizontal and vertical direction has passed the intersection. In order to achieve this state with minimum loss time, the continuations from A [0, 1] and A [1, 0] are determined and compared. Since in the example the LSA was initialized with the phase H, it is advantageous first to let the horizontal and then the vertical vehicle pass. The last switching state is therefore 'V'.
The cell attribute p allows the matrix A to be traversed backwards (from 1, 2 to 0, 0) and to read the optimal circuit diagram. If A (i, j, p) = H, j is decreased by 1, otherwise i is decreased by 1. In this case, all times s of phase changes are collected.

After the complete table has been determined, then the optimal circuit diagram is read backwards.
For intersections with n phases, an n-dimensional matrix must be filled for optimization. It is necessary to assign the individual vehicles exactly to the phases. If z. B. a phase is provided for left turn, in order to ensure the optimality, the turn request of the vehicles must be known in good time. In the case of an existing left-turning lane, this can be achieved by precise positional information, or the vehicle must communicate this information to the LSA. It would also be conceivable that the turn request be read from a navigation device in the vehicle and sent directly to the LSA. Apart from the higher dimensionality of the matrix and the associated increased computational effort, the algorithm works unchanged.
Preferably, the method is used in individual non-networked traffic signal systems.
