Abstract
Description
Technisches AnwendungsgebietTechnical application
The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for the layered production of components by means of photopolymerization, in which the components are constructed by layerwise solidification of a liquid polymeric component material on a substrate. It is therefore an additive manufacturing process.
Generative manufacturing processes are based on an orthogonal system in which a building level and a height are specified. Depending on the process, liquid, powdered or wire-shaped materials are processed in layers. For the construction of the components, these materials are solidified in layers by means of a suitable energy source. Most known generative manufacturing processes use a one-dimensionally acting energy source in the form of a laser, an extrusion die or a print head. With the help of a scanner unit can then selectively solidified or cured areas in a layer. The use of two-dimensionally acting energy sources is also known, in which, for example, a light pattern is generated by means of a micromirror array and imaged onto the layer to be hardened. This allows the layers to be processed over a wide area, not at points. Layer by layer, the process of solidification of selective areas of each topmost layer of the component is repeated until after a corresponding number of layers, the three-dimensional component is completed.
The production of components by means of generative production usually takes place via a discontinuous production process (batch process). Only one batch of components can be manufactured in each case. Afterwards, the manufactured components have to be removed and the production plant has to be prepared for the next product cycle. Due to the simultaneous production or completion of a larger number of components of a batch, the utilization of personnel and machines for pre- and post-processing is not optimal, since it is subject to strong fluctuations.
Stand der TechnikState of the art
To accelerate the set-up time of the manufacturing equipment used, it is known to use interchangeable building chambers, which can then be removed after completion of a batch and replaced by new building chambers. This shortens the time between the end of production and the start of production of the next batch. Although such approaches speed up the set-up time, they do not eliminate the other disadvantages of discontinuous production.

Darstellung der ErfindungPresentation of the invention
The object is achieved with the device and the method according to
The proposed device and the associated method use the technique of photopolymerization for the layered production of the components. The photopolymerization of the respective layer to be solidified is triggered by the action of electromagnetic radiation in a liquid polymeric component material, which is irradiated via corresponding exposure units. The exposure units can in this case have one-dimensionally acting energy sources, such as, for example, lasers, which are guided in accordance with the desired contour of the layer to be consolidated with a scanner unit via this layer. It can also be two-dimensional imaging systems are used, preferably DLP projectors (DLP: Digital Light Processing), in which a light pattern corresponding to the desired lateral geometry of the layer, for example. Generated via a micromirror array and directed to the corresponding layer. The proposed device comprises at least one container for receiving the liquid polymeric component material, a arranged in the container and rotatably mounted roller with a lateral surface, which serves as a support for the construction of the components by layered solidification of the liquid component material, and a plurality of exposure units, the allow the exposure of the liquid component material for local consolidation of the layers by photopolymerization. The container has on the sides, which are opposite to the lateral surface of the roller, for the radiation of the exposure units transparent areas, through which the radiation for the layer structure can be directed in the direction of the lateral surface of the roller. These sides can be designed to be transparent or completely transparent to the radiation, for example, as optically transparent panes, or even only corresponding closely adjacent transmission windows. These transparent sides or sides with the transparent areas are arranged so that they are spaced from the lateral surface of the roller, which increases from a minimum initial value on one side of the container in the circumferential direction of the roller. The multiple exposure units form several exposure stations along the circumferential direction of the roller, at which they direct the electromagnetic, in particular optical, radiation through the transparent regions or the transparent sides in the direction of the lateral surface. Of course, the transparent sides must be present only in the areas in which an exposure is to take place through the exposure units.
In the proposed method for producing the components, a liquid polymeric component material is then introduced into the container and the components are built up by layerwise solidification of the liquid component material by means of photopolymerization on the lateral surface of the roller. The roller is rotated during the manufacturing process continuously or stepwise in the container. The construction of each component is started at the first exposure station, in which the distance between the transparent side or transparent region and the lateral surface of the roller has the lowest value, which also corresponds to the layer thickness of the first layer of the component. After the construction of the first layer, the component is transported by rotation of the roller to a position with a greater distance of the lateral surface to the transparent side of the container to there either with the same exposure station or already with the next arranged in the direction of rotation of the roller exposure station the next Apply layer with a layer thickness corresponding to the remaining distance to the side surface of the container. Due to the continuous or stepwise rotation of the roller many components can be built simultaneously, which are in different stages of production at different points of the roller. The components can each be removed from the roller at the top of the container. For this purpose, the roller preferably projects beyond the liquid polymer or component material in this area, ie does not completely submerge in the liquid component material. By the rotation of the roller and the increasing distance of the transparent areas or sides to the lateral surface of the roller increases the possible manufacturing height of the components in the direction of rotation of the roller. The diameter of the roller and the number of exposure stations are sized so that the components to be manufactured can be completed within less than one revolution of the roller.
In the proposed device and the associated method thus immersed in the liquid polymer material rotating roller is used as a substrate for the construction of the components. The polymer bath is delimited by a plurality of preferably optically transparent panes or corresponding sides with optically transparent regions which allow the radiation of the exposure units, for example of DLP projectors, to pass, thus allowing a selective hardening of the liquid polymer material on the surface of the roller. The roller and the transparent sides of the container are dimensioned and arranged relative to one another such that the distance of these sides from the lateral surface of the roller increases in the direction of rotation of the roller. This increases the possible production height in this direction. Manufacturing always begins at the point of the shortest distance between roller and disc. At this point, this layer is solidified by appropriate irradiation depending on the desired geometry and layer of the component to be manufactured. The component is then transported further by the rotation of the roller and then the respective further layer is built up. At the same time, a new component can again be started at the first position. The maximum height of the components corresponds to the greatest distance of the lateral surface of the roller to the optically transparent disc at the last exposure station in the direction of rotation. The width of the roller is usually limited by the respective exposure unit or its illumination area.
By the proposed device and the associated method, the components can be manufactured continuously. Thus, no set-up times are required and the production plant does not need to be stopped for a new production become. Rather, the finished components are each removed at the top of the roller so that in the further rotation of the roller again free space for the construction of new components is available. The components can all be different, in particular have different geometries and sizes, and can also be manufactured as individual pieces. The difference in the size of the components is limited only by the maximum distance between the transparent sides of the container to the lateral surface of the roller at the last in the direction of rotation exposure station. By appropriate dimensioning of the container and the roller can thereby produce components of very different sizes. Due to the continuous production process, the method and the device make it possible to shorten the production time per component as well as an economic workforce planning for the preparation and post-processing, since there are no longer large fluctuations in utilization as in batchwise operation. The method and the device also enable a more efficient machine utilization, in particular for the post-processing of the manufactured components.
Sylgard® 184.The roller is preferably cylindrical in the proposed device, thus has a circular cross-section perpendicular to the axis of rotation. In principle, however, there is also the possibility of other cross sections, for example in the form of a polygon. The surface material of the roll is selected so that the solidified polymer material adheres sufficiently to the roll surface. This is also the case with known photopolymerization production systems in which the substrate or the base on which the component is constructed must also have a corresponding adhesion to the lowermost solidified layer. An example of a suitable surface material is glass. On the other hand, the sides of the container which come into contact with this layer during the solidification of the uppermost layer in each case must not permit adhesion of the consolidated layer. These sides are therefore preferably formed of a material in which the wettability with the liquid polymer material is greatly reduced. Alternatively, the inner surface of these sides may also be coated with an appropriate material, for example with a layer of silicone, especially. Sylgard ® 184th
The container is preferably open at the top, so that a free access to the top of the roller for the removal of the finished components is ensured. Preferably, the roller is over with a portion above the upper edge of the container. Alternatively, it is also possible to fill only a quantity of liquid component or polymer material which reaches up to the marginal edge during production. The roller can be installed with their storage in the container or even from above, without fixed connection with the container, be hung in the container. The exposure stations are preferably arranged in the proposed device so that they can solidify component layers over at least half of the roll circumference, d. H. over an angular portion of the circumference of the roller of at least 180 °. The container and the roller are designed and arranged such that the distance between the mantle surface of the roller and the respective opposite sides of the container preferably increases continuously over this angular range. The increase in the distance in the circumferential direction of the roller and the exposure stations are coordinated so that each rotation of the roller by an angle Δα re-exposure of the components leads to the exposure stations for solidification of a new layer having a respective same layer thickness d. For this purpose, on the one hand the distance between the mantle surface of the roller and the corresponding side surface of the container must increase by approximately the layer thickness d when the roller rotates through the angle Δα. Secondly, a corresponding exposure through one of the exposure stations must be possible at this new position.
The roller is preferably driven by a motor in the proposed device. A control unit then controls the exposure units synchronously with the rotation of the roller and in dependence on the respective current rotational position of the roller and the respective components to be produced on the roller for exposure or solidification of the respective new layer of the respective components. The control unit can also be used for controlling the rotational movement of the roller.
