Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method for the optimal design and control of a geothermal probe field with more than two geothermal probes.
H. The use of geothermal energy is playing an increasingly important role in renewable energy, as the heat stored in the earth is available in unlimited quantities and can be used in a variety of ways. Depending on the depth of the earth from which the heat is extracted, a distinction is made between near-surface and deep geothermal energy. In the case of near-surface geothermal energy, in the context of which the present invention also belongs, the maximum borehole depths for the geothermal probes (EWS) are 400 m.
Especially for larger geothermal plants, which have a variety of geothermal probes within a specified area (EWS fields) and the z. B. for larger buildings complexes or industrial buildings are used, there is a high potential for optimization.
Insufficient consideration of site characteristics and poorly developed guidelines for dealing with them often leads to a negative mutual influence of close-together EWS and EWS fields [1], [2]. Highly simplified assumptions and poorly detailed simulations during planning make it even more difficult to operate geothermal plants in a sustainable and long-term efficient manner. All the more planning optimization is necessary to increase efficiency and improve economic efficiency.
- a) geologischen Untergrundparametern
- b) Eigenschaften und Positionen der gesetzten EWS
- c) saisonal schwankendem Lastprofil
- a) geological background parameters
- b) Properties and positions of the established EMS
- c) seasonal fluctuating load profile

- a) a suitable subsurface model is created, which simulates the temperature propagation in the subsurface.
- b) a load profile is created which defines the (heating) or supplied (cooling) amount of energy to be taken from the soil over the entire running time and over the total number of geothermal probes, the total running time being divided into m discrete time steps l 1 to l m .
- c) interaction coefficients ω t, i, j k, l are determined by simulating the development of the two- and / or three-dimensional temperature distribution in the ground over a total run time at a selectable number n of geothermal probes and a likewise freely selectable geometric arrangement thereof, including Substrate model and load profile.
- d) a maximum cooling ΔT i, j at any position (i, j) at a time step l is minimized by independent variation of the positions (x k , y k ) of the borehole centers of the geothermal probes EWS k with k = 1 to n or by solution of a system of equations with operating powers q k, l of the geothermal probes EWS k as variables or by combining both approaches
- e) from the result of the previous minimization of ΔT i, j optimized independent control parameters for geothermal probes EWS k and / or optimized positioning of the well centers (x k , y k ) of n geothermal probes within the geothermal probe field are determined.
The subsurface model is prepared on the basis of suitable subsoil parameters, in particular the thermal conductivity λ and the groundwater flow.
The load profile defines the amount of energy extracted (heating) or supplied (cooling) from the subsoil over the total number of n EWS over the planned total runtime of the field. The determination of the load profile is based on suitable parameters, in particular the seasonally varying heating and / or cooling energy demand. Since EWS systems are often to be installed in regions with seasonally varying climatic conditions, the load profile is advantageously divided into discrete time steps l 1 to l m with different energy requirements. The subdivision usually takes place in monthly sections, so that a time step corresponds to one month of the total runtime. The subdivision can be arbitrarily refined, which, however, is accompanied by an increase in the computation time in the subsequent optimization step and, in the case of EWS plants, is not necessary because of its inertia.
The optimization of the control of the system by the determination of an optimized, individual control of the individual EWS first requires the one-time calculation of so-called interaction coefficients ω t, i, j k, l . These describe the influence of individual EWS k with k = 1 ... n at the positions (x k , y k ) on defined measurement positions (i, j) in the given area at time l relative to a reference time t. These coefficients are calculated by a one-time simulation of the two-dimensional and / or three-dimensional temperature distribution in the subsurface using suitable simulation models (see prior art) and incorporating the given geological background parameters and a given load profile.
An optimized operation of an EWS field is based on a minimization of the maximum temperature change within the total running time of the installation and within each individual time step l.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a minimization of the maximum cooling ΔT i, j at an arbitrary position (i, j) is achieved by optimizing the operating intensities q k, l , (load optimization).
The temperature change at a position (i, j) at a time t is calculated via a linear combination of interaction coefficients and operating intensities: with ΔT → i, j as a vector of the temperature changes at all measuring positions (i, j), q → as a vector of operating intensities and ω → t, i, j as a vector of the interaction coefficients. The operating power of an EWS k within a time step t is defined herein as the power to be extracted (heating) or added (cooling) to the ground by this probe during this time step. The operating strengths of the individual EWS can be varied by the optimization algorithm when determining an optimal control, the sum of all operating strengths of a time step, however, is given by the total energy demand recorded in the load profile for this time step.
Das Optimierungsproblem definiert sich über folgende Zielfunktion: The optimization problem is defined by the following objective function:
min(z)
min (z)
Da zwischen ΔT →i,j und q → eine lineare Abhängigkeit besteht, kann die Problemstellung der Berechnung optimaler Betriebsstärken, welche eine Minimierung der maximalen Abkühlung im Untergrund bewirken, als folgendes, lineares Programm formuliert werden: mit den RandbedingungenSince there is a linear dependence between ΔT → i, j and q →, the problem of calculating optimal operating powers, which cause a minimization of the maximum cooling in the subsurface, can be formulated as the following, linear program: with the boundary conditions
The requirement that the sum of all operating intensities of a time step must correspond to the total power E 1 recorded in the load profile for this time step constitutes a further boundary condition and ensures an exact compliance with the given load profile.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a minimization of the maximum cooling ΔT i, j at an arbitrary position (i, j) for new plants to be installed by an independent variation of the positions (x k , y k ) of the borehole centers of EWS k with k = 1 ... n reached (position optimization).
The position optimization is carried out by a non-linear algorithm, in particular by an evolutionary algorithm.
If the position optimization is used by itself, all EMSs of the field are operated with the same control parameters. In a combination of both optimization approaches, for each positioning scheme generated by the nonlinear optimization algorithm, the above-described power-plant optimization is additionally performed.
From the optimized operating intensities q k, l individual control parameters for the control of the geothermal probes EWS k are determined for the time step l, wherein the scheme is such that the power achieved by the scheme through the geothermal probes EWS k the optimized operating strengths q k, l corresponds ,
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the individually adjustable control parameter for the geothermal probes EWS k is an operating time.
In a further preferred embodiment, the individually adjustable control parameter for the geothermal probes EWS k is the flow of the heat transfer fluid in the geothermal probe.
In a further preferred embodiment, the individually adjustable control parameter for the geothermal probes EWS k is a flow temperature of the heat transfer fluid in the geothermal probe, which is meant by flow temperature, the temperature of the heat transfer fluid before entering the ground.
In a further preferred embodiment of the invention, geothermal probes EWS which, after optimizing the operating intensities, are assigned similar operating power values within a same time interval, generally several time steps, are combined into a group and jointly controlled. This simplifies the necessary control system and saves components that are necessary for control, and thus costs.
In a further preferred embodiment of the invention, temperature sensors are introduced into the circuit of the heat transfer fluids of the EWS, which measure the n return temperatures of the n EWS at times r with 1 ≦ r ≦ m for m time steps. The return temperatures correspond to the temperatures of the heat transfer fluid after exiting the individual EWS k . The obtained information from the return temperatures allow a determination of updated, more adapted to the system interaction coefficients ω → t, i, j . By means of a renewed operating-force optimization with the adjusted ω → t, i, j , updated values q k, r ... m can be determined for the operating powers for the remaining running time of the EMS field and the control parameters can be adapted accordingly.

Die Untergrundtemperatur beträgt vor Beginn der Simulation 11°C.As a first embodiment, the optimization of the operating strengths of an EWS field with 25, grid-shaped EWS is shown with 10 m distance between the probes. The aim of the optimization is to minimize the generated temperature anomalies by an individual control of the individual geothermal probes. The resulting temperature spread in the subsurface is simulated using a simulation model based on the Carslaw & Jaeger equation. The substrate is assumed to be homogeneous, isotropic and soaked in this example. There is no groundwater flow. The term of the plant, which only extracts heat and does not inject, is 30 years. The background temperature is 11 ° C before the simulation starts.
The second embodiment relates to an EWS field, which is to be introduced into a subsoil with the same geological background parameterization as in the exemplary embodiment for optimizing the operating power, and in which additionally the EWS positions are to be optimized. So there is a combined optimization of operating forces and probe positioning. For the optimization of the drill hole positioning, the evolutionary optimization algorithm Differential Evolution DE / current-to-best / 1 is used in this example. The only difference with respect to the geological background parameterization is the presence of a low groundwater flow. The specific flow rate in this example is 2.38 · 10 -10 m / s. The number of probes is now 36, the
For the given scenario, a grid-shaped arrangement of the EWS without optimizing the probe operating intensities leads to a maximum cooling of the substrate at the coldest measured position to 1.35 ° C. An optimization of the probe operating power for optimized positioning of the borehole centers leads to a maximum subsurface cooling of 3.86 ° C, which corresponds to an improvement of approx. 22.8%.
