Abstract
In the course of the process according to the invention for producing a grain-oriented flat electrical steel product intended for electrical engineering applications, a hot strip is first made from iron and unavoidable impurities (in% by weight) Si: 2.5-4.0%, C: 0.02 -0.1%, Al: 0.01-0.065%, N: 0.003-0.015%, optionally up to 0.30% Mn, up to 0.05% Ti, up to 0.3% P, one or more Elements from the group S, Se in contents, the sum of which is at most 0.04%, one or more elements from the group As, Sn, Sb, Te, Bi with contents of up to 0.2% each, one or more elements from the group Cu, Ni, Cr, Co, Mo with contents of up to 0.5% each, one or more elements from the group B, V, Nb with contents of up to 0.012% each, a cold strip with a Final thickness of 0.15-0.50 mm rolled. This is then annealed in a decarburizing manner. An oxide layer forms on the cold strip. According to the invention, this is removed before the cold strip is nitrided by annealing in an atmosphere containing NH3 with a partial pressure ratio of PH2O / PH2 ≥ 0.1. After applying an annealing separator, the cold strip is finally annealed to give it a cast texture.
Description
The invention relates to a method for producing grain-oriented electrical steel flat products intended for electrotechnical applications. Electric steel flat products of this type are also referred to in practice as "grain-oriented electrical sheets" or "grain-oriented electrical tapes".
Such grain-oriented electrical steel flat products have special magnetic properties and are produced by a complex manufacturing process. Base material for electrical steel flat products is a silicon steel sheet. The metallurgical properties of the material, the degree of deformation of the rolling processes and the parameters of the heat treatment steps are coordinated so that targeted recrystallization processes proceed. These recrystallization processes lead to a typical for the material "Goss texture" in which the direction of the easiest magnetization in the rolling direction of the finished strips.
To be distinguished from grain-oriented electrical steel sheet or strip are electrical steel flat products in which the grains do not have a pronounced orientation. In such non-grain oriented electrical steel or sheet, the magnetic flux is not fixed in any particular direction, so that the same magnetic properties are formed in all directions (isotropic magnetization).
Grain-oriented electrical steel or sheet of the type in question, on the other hand, has a strongly anisotropic magnetic behavior. This is due to a uniform orientation of the grains (crystallites) of the structure. This crystallographic texture is achieved by effective grain growth selection by taking appropriate measures in the manufacturing process. The aim is to obtain, after a final annealing at the end of the production process, an electrical steel flat product in which the grains have a slight misorientation and, consequently, an almost ideal texture.
Grain-oriented electrical steel is particularly suitable for applications in which particularly high demands are placed on the magnetic properties, as is the case, for example, in the construction of transformers.
Methods of producing high quality grain oriented electrical steel are known in greater numbers.

The purpose of the particle inhibition is to suppress the grain growth in the primary structure of the cold strip after and during the decarburization annealing. Only during the final annealing, in which the cold strips are annealed at temperatures of up to 1200 ° C, controlled abnormal grain growth in the temperature range of 950-1100 ° C in order to allow a high texture sharpness with Gossorientierung <001> (110) ,
In order for optimal, abnormal grain growth with high texture sharpness to begin, it is necessary to set an ideal equilibrium state between driving and restoring forces after decarburization annealing. The driving force for grain growth during annealing is the grain boundary energy stored in the microstructure. This is essentially determined by the grain size. On the other hand, a restraining force opposing the grain growth is determined by the non-magnetic precipitates (inhibitors) precipitated in the cold strip. Therefore, it is important to have many finely divided particles.
In the low-heating process, however, the relevant particles are not produced in the hot strip but before, after or during the decarburization annealing or during the heating phase of the final annealing in the course of various nitriding processes. This effect is also called "acquired inhibition" in technical language.

The above-explained strategies for preventing the formation of about 2 micron thick oxide layer during the. Decarburization annealing in practice has the disadvantage that the oxide layer contributes to the quality of the work result in the process steps following the particular nitriding treatment. Thus, the oxide layer has a positive effect on the formation of the glass film during the high-temperature annealing by the solid-state reaction between it and the separating layer, which is usually composed of MgO and applied to the high-temperature annealing after nitriding. In addition, during nitration, a large part of the nitrogen in the oxide layer is precipitated and deposited there, so that it can be used during the annealing to form further inhibitors. If the oxide layer is missing, it must be possible to dispense with this essential influence for the production of an optimal product.
Against the background of the prior art explained above, the object of the invention was to provide a method which on the one hand enables highly effective nitration and on the other hand supplies an optimally sourced grain-oriented electrical steel flat product.
This object has been achieved by a method which comprises the measures and features specified in
Advantageous embodiments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims and are explained below as the general inventive concept in detail.
- a) producing a hot strip which, in addition to iron and unavoidable impurities (in% by weight) Si: 2.5-4.0%, C: 0.02-0.1%, Al: 0.01-0.065%, N: 0.003-0.015%, optionally up to 0.30% Mn, up to 0.05% Ti, up to 0.3% P, one or more elements from the group S, Se in contents whose sum is at most 0, 04%, one or more elements from the group As, Sn, Sb, Te, Bi with contents of up to 0.2%, one or more elements from the group Cu, Ni, Cr, Co, Mo with contents of each containing up to 0.5%, one or more elements from the group B, V, Nb, each containing up to 0.012%,
- b) cold rolling the hot strip to a cold strip having a final thickness of 0.15-0.50 mm,
- c) decarburizing annealing of the resulting cold strip, wherein an oxide layer forms on the cold strip during decarburization annealing;
- d) nitriding annealing of the decarburization annealed cold-rolled strip under a NH 3 -containing atmosphere,
- e) applying an annealing separator to the surface of the annealed cold-rolled strip and
- f) final annealing of the cold strip provided with the annealing separator for embossing a Gosstextur.
According to the invention, an additional operation c.1) is now introduced before the nitriding annealing, within which the oxide layer forming during decarburization annealing is removed from the decarburization-annealed cold-rolled strip.
In addition, for the NH 3 -containing atmosphere, under which the nitriding annealing takes place, a partial pressure ratio p H2O / P H2 of at least 0.1, in particular greater than 0.1, for example greater than 0.15, is selected.
Thus, according to the invention, the decarburizing and nitriding annealing are carried out in two separate process steps. It is permitted that forms an oxide layer in the course of decarburization annealing. However, this oxide layer is largely removed before the nitriding treatment. In this way, in the subsequent nitriding process, the nitrogen can penetrate much more easily into the cold strip to be nitrided. As a result, a more even distribution of the inhibitor particles in a near-surface layer of the decarburized and nitrided cold strip is achieved. In this way optimal conditions for the secondary grain growth during the final annealing are required.
In order to compensate for the loss associated with the removal of the oxide layer according to the invention of nitrogen which is stored in the oxide layer and promotes the formation of precipitates acting as inhibitors during final annealing, the atmosphere is adjusted during the nitriding annealing in a near-surface layer in accordance with the invention Nitrierbehandelten cold tapes sets an increased density of N-containing particles. The layer in question then assumes the function of a nitrogen depot, which, in a conventional procedure, has the oxide layer present on the cold strip after nitriding.
The intermediate step c.1) introduced according to the invention "removal of the oxide layer forming during the decarburization annealing" thus provides optimum conditions for highly effective nitriding of the decarburization annealed cold-rolled strip. At the same time, by adjusting the nitriding atmosphere, nitriding is carried out according to the invention such that, in spite of the removal of the oxide layer in the nitriding-treated cold strip, nitrogen is present in such a way that it is optimally effective in the subsequent final annealing.
At the same time, as a result of the inventive setting of the partial pressure ratio P H2O / p H2 in the Nitrieratmopshäre so that in a treated according to the invention electrical steel flat product from the applied before the final annealing on the nitrided cold strip Glühseparator forms a glass film, the properties of the Similar properties of a glass film that sets in the final annealing of conventionally combined decarburization and nitriding treated electrical tapes or sheets.
As a result, an electrical steel flat product with improved magnetic characteristics can be produced with the procedure according to the invention. Thus, electrical sheets and tapes produced according to the invention are distinguished by high polarizations and low remagnetization losses.
The hot strip processed according to the invention can in principle be produced in any manner based on the principle of the low-heating method. Thus, a suitably composed melt may be conventionally cast into slabs, which are then heated to a temperature less than 1250 ° C and rolled from this temperature to the hot strip.
- a.1 potting the melt into a strand in a continuous casting machine,
- a.2 separating at least one thin slab from the cast strand,
- a.3 heating the thin slab to a temperature between 1050 ° C and 1300 ° C,
- a.4 hot rolling of the thin slab in a hot rolling mill to a hot-rolled strip with a thickness of 0,5-4,0 mm,
- a.5 cooling the hot strip,
- a.6 Coiling the hot strip to form a coil.
Typischerweise liegen bei einer im Durchlauf absolvierten Glühung die Soll-Glühtemperatur der entkohlenden Glühung im Bereich von 800–900°C und die Glühzeiten im Bereich von 30–200 s.Typically, in a continuous annealing, the target annealing temperature of the decarburization anneal is in the range of 800-900 ° C and annealing times are in the range of 30-200s.
If the technical possibilities are available for this purpose, it is conceivable to carry out the removal of the oxide layer between the decarburization annealing and the nitriding treatment without major cooling of the decarburization-annealed cold-rolled strip. However, with the means commonly available today, the removal of the oxide layer can be carried out in a practical manner when the cold strip is cooled after decarburization annealing (step c) and reheated to the temperature required for the nitriding anneal after removal of the oxide layer , By also carrying out the cooling under a decarburizing atmosphere, decarburization also takes place in this time. The target temperature of the cooling of the decarburization-annealed cold-rolled strip is selected as a function of the method provided for the removal of the oxide layer in such a way that optimum conditions for stripping are provided.
The removal of the oxide layer from the decarburization-annealed sheet can be carried out mechanically, for example by brushing, particle blasting or other methods customary in the field of cold strip processing.
Alternatively or additionally, it is possible to remove the oxide layer in an acid bath in the manner of the known pickling. As the acid hydrochloric acid or a similar strong other acid can be used. It may be useful to intensify the effectiveness of the acid bath when the temperature of the decarburization annealed cold-rolled strip is above the room temperature when entering the acid bath. Likewise, the effectiveness of removing the oxide layer can be increased by performing it electrochemically.
The nominal annealing temperatures set during nitriding annealing (step d)) are typically in the range of 850-950 ° C. The nitriding treatment according to the invention is typically completed in continuous operation within 15-300 s.
The NH 3 -containing atmosphere under which the nitriding annealing (step d)) takes place may in practice contain 5-30 vol.% NH 3 , 30-70

From the strand thin slabs have also been divided in a conventional manner. After a compensation annealing in a compensation furnace at 1165 ° C, these thin slabs were descaled and hot rolled in the finishing train to a final thickness of 2.3 mm and coiled into a coil.
The hot strip obtained has undergone a two-stage hot strip annealing. The annealing temperature in the first stage of the hot strip annealing was 1090 ° C, while the annealing temperature in the second stage was 850 ° C. Instead of a two-stage hot strip annealing, a single-stage hot strip annealing with a uniform uniform annealing temperature could have been carried out.
Subsequently, the annealed hot strip was cold rolled in one stage to a cold strip with a final thickness of 0.30 mm.
The cold strip obtained is then decarburizing annealed in a continuous furnace for a period of 150 seconds at a target annealing temperature of 880 ° C under a humidified hydrogen / nitrogen atmosphere with a partial pressure of P H2O / P H2 of 0.50 in a continuous pass Service.
After cooling in the decarburizing atmosphere to a temperature below 100 ° C, the oxide layer has been chemically removed from the cold strip with concentrated hydrochloric acid.
Subsequently, samples were separated from the decarburization annealed cold-rolled strip and subjected to nitration in a separate kiln unit which also passed through in a continuous pass. In this case, the entire annealing was carried out until the cooling in each case in the same Nitrieratmosphäre here.
For nitriding, a second furnace assembly, which has likewise been passed through in a continuous pass, was used, in each of which a nitriding atmosphere was fed, which consisted of (in% by volume) 22% NH 3 , 36.5% H and 36.5% N.
When entering the kiln unit used for nitriding, the cold strip samples were heated in each case at a heating rate of 20 K / s to a target annealing temperature T NIT of 860 ° C.
In the course of a first series of experiments A, a first group of cold strip samples for a nitriding time t NIT of 30 seconds each under the nitriding atmosphere has been kept at the target annealing temperature.
In a second series of experiments B, a second group of cold strip samples for a nitriding time t NIT of 240 seconds each under the nitriding atmosphere has been kept at the target annealing temperature.
Here, in each of the test series A, B in a first test run N, the partial pressure ratio P H2O / P H2 to 0.02 (corresponding to a dew point θ NIT of 9 ° C) and in a second Experimental run E, the partial pressure ratio p H2O / p H2 has been set to 0.1 (corresponding to a dew point θ NIT of 35 ° C).
For comparison, cold strip samples are conventionally uninterrupted in a combined decarburization and nitriding step, decarburizing without intermediate removal of the oxide layer forming during the decarburization, and then annealed nitriding. The composition of the decarburization atmosphere under which the decarburization annealing was conducted and the nitriding atmosphere under which the nitriding annealing was carried out corresponded to the compositions of the decarburization and nitriding atmospheres respectively provided in conducting experiments N and E.
In a first comparison experiment V1, as in experiment N, the partial pressure ratio p H2O / p H2 has been set to 0.02 (corresponding to a dew point .theta. NIT of 9.degree. C.), whereas in a second comparative experiment V2 the partial pressure ratio p H2O / p H2 is the same in experiment E has been adjusted to 0.1 (corresponding to a dew point θ NIT of 35 ° C).
The cold strips obtained in experiments N, E, V1 and V2 after nitriding are each coated with magnesium oxide as an annealing separator and in a conventional manner under an atmosphere comprising 75% by volume of H 2 and 25% by volume in a bell annealing. % N 2 was subjected to a high temperature annealing.
For the final heat-treated samples obtained after the respective experiments N, E, V1 and V2, the polarization J is shown in Table 1 for the test series A (nitriding time t NIT 30 s) and in Table 2 for the test series B (nitriding time t NIT 240 s) 800 at 800 A / m, given in Tesla, the magnetization loss P 1.7 given in W / kg at a polarization of 1.7 T and a frequency of 50 Hz and the N contents respectively measured on the samples% N in ppm called. In addition, in Tables 1, 2, for each of the experiments N, E, V1, V2, an evaluation of the glass film present on each of the samples is recorded.
The tests N, E, V1, V2 carried out in the course of the test series A, B show that the process according to the invention results from the removal of the oxide layer between the decarburization and the nitriding step according to the invention in comparison to the combined processing in which no stripping has taken place , for each of the samples produced in each case significantly improved electromagnetic characteristics, but that good glass film formation can only be guaranteed if the nitration is carried out under a Nitrieratmosphäre with a partial pressure ratio p H2O / p H2 of at least 0.1.
In compliance with this condition can be produced according to the invention electrical steel flat products, on the one hand have a high polarization and low Ummagnetisierungsverluste, on the other hand but also satisfactory glass film properties are ensured, which are comparable to the properties of the produced in conventional manufacturing process electrical steel sheet or - formed glass film ,
By setting a high dew point .theta.NIT in the nitriding atmosphere under which nitriding is carried out according to the invention after removal of the oxide layer, an increased density of N-containing particles is produced in a surface-near layer adjacent to the surface of the respective electrical steel flat product. In this way, the layer in question assumes the final final annealing a nitrogen-storing function (N-Depot), which is fulfilled in a conventional procedure by the then on the respective electrical steel flat product still existing oxide layer.
