Description
The invention relates to a textile thermoelectric component, a method for its production and its use. Thermoelectricity is understood to mean the mutual influence of temperature and electricity and their interconversion. A thermoelectric element uses the Seebeck effect, which causes a voltage difference between two different conductors from a temperature difference. Accordingly, when using the reciprocal Peltier effect, a voltage for generating a temperature difference between the conductors or semiconductors can be achieved.
The basis for the Peltier effect is the contact of two semiconductors, which have a different energy level (either p- or n-type) of the conduction bands. If a current is conducted through two contact points of these materials, thermal energy must be absorbed at one contact point so that the electron enters the higher energy conduction band of the adjacent semiconductor material. This causes a cooling. At the other contact point, the electron falls from a higher to a lower energy level, so that here energy is given off in the form of heat.
Since n-doped semiconductors have a lower energy level of the conduction band, the cooling takes place at the point at which electrons pass from the n-doped semiconductor into the p-doped semiconductor. The technical current flow thus takes place from the p-doped to the n-doped semiconductor. The effect also occurs with metals instead of semiconductors, but is very low here and is almost completely superimposed by the current heat and the high thermal conductivity.

According to the state of the art textile thermoelectric components are thus known, which either with sufficient insulation between the layers having different temperatures, greatly increase the thickness of the device equipped therewith and are inflexible or have no sufficient insulation while existing flexibility of a three-dimensional knitted fabric , nor the corresponding compressive strength of a device. In addition, a function reversal, in which a thermal effect is caused by current flow in the same components, is not known.
This results in the object of the present invention to provide a textile thermoelectric device that thermally optimally isolated from each other with sufficient flexibility, the different temperature layers, without having increased space requirements. Another object of the invention is to provide a method by which a textile thermoelectric device according to the invention can be produced with little effort.
The object of the invention is furthermore to use the textile thermoelectric device for generating a temperature difference or an electrical voltage.
The object is achieved by a textile thermoelectric component in which a carrier material, which is preferably an electrically, more preferably at the same time a thermally insulating flat, flexible carrier material, covered in the manner of cover threads and interspersed by connecting threads, each with different thermoelectric material properties, that the cover threads and the connecting threads together form a thermoelectric element, wherein a first flat side of the carrier material with the first cover threads form a first side and a second flat side of the carrier material with the second cover threads form a second side of the thermoelectric element, and wherein the first and the second cover threads connected by the connecting threads and the connection points between the cover and connecting threads are electrically conductive.
The cover threads are arranged on the surface of the carrier material and visible there from the outside. However, alternative embodiments are provided. Thereafter, the cover threads are, for example, embedded in the surface or covered by a surface layer of the carrier material.
The connecting threads create a connection between the first cover threads and the second cover threads through the support material, whereby an electrical connection is formed. Different thermoelectric properties, namely the Seebeck constant, but above all the Peltier constant, the electrically active constituents of covering threads and connecting threads lead to the thermoelectric effects essential to the invention.
In a preferred embodiment, the cover threads and the connecting threads are electrically conductive. Here are different metals are used, which cause at least a significant Seebeckeffekt, to a small extent, a Peltier effect. If it does not matter on the latter, this embodiment offers the particular advantage of a simple and inexpensive construction and an unobtrusive production. Particularly preferred is the use of copper wires as cover threads. Other suitable metal pairings are known, such as Ni / NiCr.
In a further preferred embodiment, the cover threads are electrically conductive and the connecting threads are electrically semiconducting and first electrically semiconductive connecting threads have an n-doping and second electrically semiconducting connecting threads have a p-doping. The combination of a metallic conductor with a semiconductor which is alternately p-doped and n-doped in series leads, as is known, to a very effective thermoelectric element which can be used both as a Peltier element and as a Seebeck element. This makes a particularly universal use possible.
For this purpose, the connection of a first cover thread with a second cover thread via a connecting thread, which is p-doped, for example, has p-doped silicon. The second cover thread is in turn connected to a further first cover thread via a connecting thread which is p-doped, for example comprising p-doped silicon as a semiconductor. In this way, the structure of the textile thermoelectric device continues by connecting all or a plurality of individual elements in series. Further advantageous material uses are known, for example Bi: Sb: Zn, compounds of the V. and VI. Main group at room temperature, elements of main group V and their alloys at low temperatures or PbTe and SiGe alloys at high temperatures. Particularly suitable for the connecting threads are materials with a high Seebeckeffekt, a high electrical conductivity and a low thermal conductivity.
Now, if a voltage is applied between the first and the last cover thread of the series connection, a heat flow is created in the Connecting threads with the result that in a certain polarity in the sense of the Peltier effect, the first cover threads on the first side of the textile thermoelectric component heat up and the second cover threads on the second side to cool. When changing the polarity, the effect is reversed accordingly.
Furthermore, the Seebeckeffekt can be used if there is a temperature difference between the first and the second side of the textile thermoelectric device. In this case, a voltage is removable from the contacts of the first and the last cover thread of a partial element or of the entire component.
Advantageously, as a carrier material flexible web-like fiber material is provided, as it is available in a variety of designs on the market. These include insulating materials such as rock wool or glass wool. Also textile-technologically produced products, such as fabrics in random orientation, such as felt or needle felt, come into question. A carrier material has the particular advantage that it brings home the basic mechanical properties such as tensile or compressive strength and such demands on the cover threads or the connecting threads only to a limited extent or not at all. Thus, the selection of materials focuses in particular on the electrical properties, which are thus optimized with minimal use of materials to a high degree.
If it is an insulating material, its heat-insulating properties are not or only slightly affected by the introduction of suitable covering and connecting threads. The later use as insulating materials can thus be done in the usual way.
It has proved favorable if the cover threads and / or the connecting threads at least partially have an electrically conductive coating of a thread core and the electrically semiconducting connecting threads at least partially have an electrically semiconductive coating of a thread core. As a result, the cover threads and / or the connecting threads are particularly cost-effective, since a low-cost thread core, for example made of a conventional polymer material, can be used. However, to produce the desired electrical properties of the filaments, this filament core is coated with a suitable material that embodies the desired properties. Thus, the required amount of material can be based solely on the requirements that are to be placed on the electrical properties. The mechanical properties are essentially determined by the filament core.
Der Fadenkern weist einen zylindrischen oder anders geformten, beispielsweise rechteckigen Querschnitt aufThe coating is provided on the outer shell of a full thread core or a hollow thread core with an annular cross-section, which need not necessarily be a circular ring provided. Alternatively or additionally, an inner jacket, the inner cylinder wall of a thread core is provided with a cavity in the interior, with electrically conductive or electrically semiconductive coating. The thread core has a cylindrical or differently shaped, for example rectangular cross-section
Special advantages bring these coated threads especially when they are introduced as connecting threads in a heat-insulating substrate. Then by the filament core, which is a poor conductor of heat, the heat conduction through the insulating minimized and the insulation effect is not or only minimally affected by the metallic components. The coated inner sheath of a hollow thread core also protects the inner coating against external influences. A hollow thread core also makes it possible to establish mechanical and thermal parameters, for example the moment of resistance of the thread cross section or the size of the thermally active surface.
Particular advantages result from an embodiment in which a separating region is provided between each two regions of the textile structure of electrically conductive and / or electrically semiconducting threads on the carrier material, so that the two regions of the textile structure are galvanically separated from one another. This makes it possible to connect such a number of individual thermoelectric elements in series that a desired output voltage can be tapped off at this subelement.
When operating the textile thermoelectric device as Peltier element, it is also possible to control individual areas of the device individually and to temper accordingly independently of the other elements. Even when operating as Seebeck element, it may be useful, for example, for the purpose of signal extraction and processing, the voltage or change over time in individual elements and thus separate parts of the device separately.
It is furthermore advantageous if the regions of the textile structure of electrically conductive and / or electrically semiconductive filaments have electrical connections and can therefore be electrically connected to one another or to an external circuit. By interconnecting the individual modules, which are limited by separation areas, both voltage and current can be varied and adapted. In addition, the terminals allow the driving of the subregions or the tapping of voltages for obtaining output signals.
In the preferred embodiment, the electrical connections are each connected to at least one cover thread, in an alternative embodiment also to a plurality of cover threads. Alternatively, however, the connection is provided with a connecting thread.
The object of the invention is further achieved by a method for producing a textile thermoelectric component with the method steps of inserting a thermally insulating flat carrier material into a textile-technical device, applying the cover threads to the first and the second side of the carrier material and introducing the connecting threads in such a way, that an electrically conductive connection between the cover threads and the connecting threads is formed. The textile thermoelectric component is thus produced essentially by textile technology methods, such as knitting, knitting, sewing or the like, which are adapted to the requirements to be taken into account in the production of the textile thermoelectric component. On the one hand, this means that these methods are applied to a carrier material, preferably a fiber mat, and a three-dimensional structure can be produced. Furthermore, the use of correspondingly sensitive covering threads and / or connecting threads presupposes a technology adapted to that extent that the threads are neither damaged on their surface nor otherwise damaged, for example overstretched.
It is particularly advantageous if the electrically conductive connection between the cover threads and the connecting threads is mechanically stabilized. This is particularly preferably done by heating the first and / or the second surface of the device, whereby the threads are welded or soldered together. In the particularly preferred embodiment of the method, only one of the conductors, preferably the cover yarn, is heated instead of the surface of the component. This is done in an advantageous development by a current flow through the cover thread. Further possibilities for mechanical, electrically conductive connection between cover threads and connecting threads are provided. For example, a chemical activation or a photoactivation of an impregnation of the threads is used, whereby it also comes to the compound.
A further solution of the object according to the invention lies in the use of a textile thermoelectric component in which, as a result of a temperature difference between the first and the second side of the textile thermoelectric component, a voltage is tapped between two terminals. As a result, another alternative, renewable energy source is opened up.
In order to make a significant contribution to energy production, which is in proportion to the energy consumption of the building equipped with the building element, possible, larger areas must be equipped with the device. Then, in addition to photovoltaic applications, power generation is possible regardless of solar radiation and even in the dark and low outside temperatures.
Even if no significant amount of electrical energy can be generated, decentralized energy production is an advantage. Thus, smaller consumers such as control systems, safety or signaling devices that require only a small amount of energy, can be operated continuously and without complex leads or replacement of the batteries. At best, a short-term energy buffering is required in order to ensure the energy supply in case of lack of power generation, for example in the absence of a temperature gradient in the Seebeck element.
Particular advantages of this use are to be expected when an insulating material for the facade, roof, walls, ceilings or floors of a building is provided as a substrate, the textile thermoelectric component is inserted into the building and generates a voltage in addition to its isolation function. In this case, very large areas are equipped with the thermoelectric device, resulting in a correspondingly high capacity for power generation.
If, for example, a facade or a roof is insulated, there is a temperature gradient in the cold season in such a way that low outside temperatures contrast with a comparatively high internal temperature. Conversely, a sunlit façade or a sunlit roof will heat up to a temperature gradient where the high temperature outside and a comparatively low temperature inside the building prevail. In both cases, a voltage can be tapped off above the textile thermoelectric component, which then functions as the Seebeck element.
Preferably, an insulating material for pipelines is provided as a carrier material and thus the textile thermoelectric device used on the pipeline, which generates a voltage in addition to its isolation function. Again, energy production is possible as soon as gives a temperature gradient between the surface of the pipe and the environment. This is the case, for example, with a heating pipe that has a high temperature inside. However, there are also other fields of use, such as a hot water pipe or a cooling line provided.
To achieve the object according to the invention also contributes to the use of a textile thermoelectric device when the textile thermoelectric device is optionally used as a Seebeck element for generating voltage and as a Peltier element to produce a temperature difference, the sides of the low and high temperature changes as needed become. These are the o. G. Isolation materials in question, through which a building can be cooled by taking advantage of the Peltier effect. Provided is also a heating of the insulation material to prevent condensation in the wall structure, which can occur in unfavorable temperature-humidity conditions and especially in connection with construction defects and causes corresponding damage to the building. These would then be recognizable and subsequently avoidable.
Far more effective, however, is an immediate use in the interior. In a preferred use, the textile thermoelectric component is used as an equipment element for interiors and contributes to the room air conditioning. In this case, a textile carrier material, such as a felt or a decorative fabric, which is equipped with the textile structure of cover threads and connecting threads appropriately equipped as a textile thermoelectric device is used. Thus, it is envisaged to position such a device in the form of a curtain in front of windows or walls in such a way that it can absorb both radiation and can deliver the radiation into the room. Thus, it is possible with appropriate temperature difference of both sides of such a curtain to tap a voltage from the Seebeck element.
However, the curtain having a textile thermoelectric component can also be subjected to a voltage and contribute to the room air conditioning. In the warm season and at high interior temperatures, the Peltier element is operated in such a way that the cold side points to the room. This results in a "cold radiation", which causes a pleasant sensation even in higher air temperature in the room and mitigates the disturbing influence of high room temperature. Conversely, if heating of the room were required, the room-facing side of the textile thermoelectric device designed as a curtain is heated due to the opposite polarity. The thermal radiation leads to a comfortable feeling in the people in the room, without an excessively high air temperature would be required. This can save heating costs. In addition, the entire Temperierungsanlage based on the textile thermoelectric device is very responsive, which would not be approachable with a conventional heating or air conditioning, the air in the room or heated air cools.
Instead of a curtain, as provided in the preferred embodiment, other internals are provided in the space for receiving a thermoelectric device. These are, for example, insulated wallpaper or elements of the interior design, especially embedded in wood panels thermoelectric components.
The object according to the invention is likewise achieved by the use of a textile thermoelectric component, in which the electrical voltages generated by the individual regions of the thermoelectric component are detected separately and supplied to signal processing. This is preferably done by separate signal contacts. This results in particular advantages in the monitoring of the building, the detection of accidents and emerging structural damage.
For example, there is a temperature measurement, the results of which are available as data in the building automation. As a result, a local influence on individual areas of the building, for example a changed heating shaded areas or cooling in local sunlight is possible without over-cooling or heating the entire building with excessively high energy input. In addition, local temperature increase indicate an emerging fire, for example in hidden areas such as installation shafts. Not only a fire alarm is triggered, but also a localization of the source of the fire is made possible. Temperature differences to surrounding areas are also in the case of structural climatic damage, such as a moisture attack in the facade by penetrating condensing water vapor or moisture damage to detect.

The same applies, of course, for a cold medium flowing in the pipe in relation to a comparatively warm surrounding area. With correspondingly long pipelines, a high voltage is also recorded. In essence, however, such use of the Seebeckeffekt serves to supply control and control devices that are related to the pipeline and then correspondingly no additional power supply, for example by a supply line or a battery need.
The use of piping is not limited to heating pipes, but also includes other substantially tubular elements such as exhaust systems or chimneys, where a high temperature difference can be achieved by high exhaust gas temperatures. Chimneys also have a large effective and usable surface.
